Jaipur Indian Cuisine in Ipswich

I have been a customer of the Jaipur for many, many years. Ahmed, Jay, the chefs and front of house staff are in one word “exceptional”. If you book or order a takeaway from this restaurant you will not be disappointed, they are professional and friendly. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Excellent food..lovely restaurant..it was reccomended by a friend..glad I tried it

I visited Jaipur for the first time for dinner this evening with a friend. It was early evening (6pm booking) so there wasn’t many diners at that time. The restaurant itself is a good size, well decorated and furnished with ample tables. We received a warm welcome from the waiting staff and we were given a choice of which table to sit at. Not long after we sat, our drinks order was taken, shortly followed by our food order. The menus were well presented and there is a variety of dishes to choose from, from Indian classics, through to chefs specials. I ordered Tandoori Chicken, plain rice and chana masala. When the food was brought to the table, it was piping hot, and clearly freshly cooked. The chicken was superb, well, it all was - all very reasonably priced too. We did not feel rushed in the restaurant. People came to collect their take away orders and more people arrived to dine in as we were finishing our meal. There is ample free parking just outside the restaurant, so you should not have trouble finding a spot if you choose to visit this little gem. This will not be my last visit here and I’m looking forward to the next time. Keep up the good work!

Update in Sept 2024: After a 3rd visit, I have reduced my 5 star ratings to 3 stars for food and overall. The main reason is a decline in the taste of the food. The chicken dhansak was borderline OK. The meat samosas were small and almost certainly bought in frozen, pre made. The keema naan was good. Previously from visits in 2022 and 2023, I gave 5 stars on each of food, service and atmosphere. Food was excellent with very nice flavours. Service is very good. Atmosphere, even midweek on a Wednesday, was great because the place was almost full.

I visited this restaurant with 9 of us. The staff was very arrogant and rude. Never experienced such a bad customer care. We did not eat from there as we saw the attitude of the staff who attended us

Been looking for a decent curry in ipswich for 7 years and never found anything as authentic as here, food was here quick and piping hot! Did keema and peas for me which wasn't on the menu and was amazing! And the lamb zalfrazi was on point! Near enough as good a bradford curry only place I will order from from now on!

Went here after it was recommended as one of the best Indians in Ipswich, can say I can confirm that, service was amazing they checked in in you but not bothering you, the food was absolutely incredible, we ordered too much as being Indians newbies could of easily got away with 1 naan each and 1 rice each, cant say enough good things about this place, would 100% recommend with also not being pricey at all!! Can't wait to go back again

Great food except ordered mixed kebab but only got chicken no lamb, also delivery was late by 30mins which i don’t mind but when order is wrong it’s quite disappointing

Order was late, so I rang the restaurant and told that it was just leaving. This was not true, the food turned up 59 minutes later and not very hot. Had it been hot the food would actually have been good.

We had a big table of 14, food was on time, amazing flavours and taste. The service was great, sorted out every needs.price was also incredible. Would go back.

Great food but really unwelcoming The owner could have been having a bad day which can happen but when your business is dependent on repeat custom you need to make everyone feel special.

We've been here for a few work do's and found it was excellent. They really care about the food here, and they take time to find out your tastes so they can tune their menu to your exact needs. Tonight we went for takeaway, having been let down elsewhere, and I'm glad we did. It's excellent food and excellent value for the quality delivered. They have a top Food Safety rating, which is something not all curry houses in Ipswich can say! Quality job.

Very average, nothing to write home about. Rubbery chicken, soggy naan bread. Told to collect food in 45 mins, turned up and had to wait an extra 30 mins while they cooked my rubber chicken. Luckily only used as regular Indian was closed for the night, wont be again. Lot better Indians around Ipswich

Nice small friendly restaurant with loads of free parking. Not near town and in a housing estate which is quiet. Mixed platter starter flavoursome, tasty and hot. Chilli nan bread soft,creamy and spicy. Worth a try. Chicken tikka tandoori comes out sizzling and hot and looks great. Tasty fried onions.

This is our go to for a takeaway! It never disappoints! The service is always super friendly and quick, food is fresh and well prepared! We’ve not eaten in but there is plenty of tables if you prefer to dine in. Favourite dish chicken tikka masala! Would highly recommend this place ⭐️

My husband and myself went there last night 21/12/22 we were welcomed when we arrived and quickly seated , the staff were friendly and the whole place had a comfortable atmosphere . The food was excellent and plentiful the chicken I had melted it was so tender, the restaurant soon filled up and the staff stayed attentive , I would highly recommend the Jaipur and yes we will be going again .

We visited the Jaipur a week ago and had a great meal. The staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. All of the food arrived very hot and freshly cooked.We were even offered a break between courses if we wished, so there was no urgency to clear our table ready for the next sitting. Also, the tables were nicely spaced out (we had one in the window) and not packed too close together as we have recently found in other establishments. Perfect evening out. Attended as a family of 6 for my birthday treat. The food was absolutely superb and piping hot, and boy were they good sized portions too. The staff were welcoming and attentive and even brought us boxes to take the leftovers to have tomorrow Cannot fault it at all

We visit this restaurant frequently and it is always the same good food, very friendly staff and good atmosphere what more could you ask for.

After a couple of disappointing meals at our usual local Indian restaurant we decided to give the Jaipur a try. The service was outstanding, there were 14 of us and nothing was too much trouble, even tweaking a couple of the dishes to suit individual tastes. All the food arrived together and everyone said it was delicious. It was all finished off with a lovely ol' coffee.... With re-fills. All in all it was a great evening and really good value. I would highly recommend it.

Ordered at 4pm to be delivered at 7:30. It is now 22:43pm and no food has arrived. Restaurant is impossible to get hold of. When I finally got through at 22:40 there was no apology and I was told it was on the way. It clearly isn’t on the way. They have also deleted their negative reviews on another platform. They have lost a regular customer.

Take away Arrived late, food cold, missing items, onion bhajis were like bricks, cold and stale, won’t be ordering again

Never dined here before but was invited by my brother in law who lives fairly close to it. We originally wanted a table around 6:30 but was told it would have to be 7:00, so was slightly surprised on arrival to find the restaurant empty. Drinks orders taken swiftly and we ordered a variety of dishes. I always have something v hot like a phaal but it wasn't on the menu so just asked for something hotter than the vindaloo on their menu which they were happy to do. Several people came in for takeaways whilst we were waiting, so obviously popular. When food arrived it was piping hot and very plentiful. Can highly recommend the Bhuna Shaslick and the tindaloo they cooked for me. Afterwards the waiter said they could have cooked a phaal, wish I'd asked for it but one for next time. All in all great Indian, great for an alternative to going in the town centre. Meal for seven with drinks was £140

Received a delivery which was absolutely awful, the king prawn purée was cold, pastry was hard. Side dishes of Saq aloof and Bombay aloo also cold.

Tried placing a order on just eat, wasn't accepting orders, so I went on their official website and placed the same order, was given a 1 hour and 20 minute countdown on their site, the progress stayed at "cooking" after the 1.2 hours ended, I stupidly waited for an extra 30 minutes, (I should mention i live 30 seconds away by walk, I placed for delivery because I dont want to get into contact with others due to the pandemic) so I gave up and went in myself to complain and ask why I havnt received my order, had to wait roughly 5-10 minutes for my food. Wasn't piping hot and wasn't cold. Not suprised this restaurant is empty most of the time most evenings.

Great curry house in Ipswich. Really good quality food and the service is always great. They do takeaways as well which are also brilliant. Thoroughly recommended!

We ordered a takeaway from Jaipur and have just enjoyed the BEST tandoori chicken dish we’ve ever tasted. Great food and great service- we couldn’t recommend them highly enough. Keep up the good work!

Ordered a take away from them this evening, the food quality and taste has sadly declined. The food arrived cold even though we are just around the corner, also arriving 20 minutes earlier than agreed. The chicken starter was tough and we ordered two different rice dishes which were exactly the same but full of curry powder. We used to regular diners here, given great reviews before but it nows seem the ingredients are cheap, poor quality and watered down we sadly will be looking for an alternative restaurant for our Indian experience.

Enjoyed a really lovely meal and the staff were absolutely brilliant, friendly and welcoming, cheerful and the food was awesome which made for an excellent evening enjoying wonderful food quality cuisine welcoming staff reasonably priced. Thankyou Jaipur great job!

Ordered online on their website and it said 45 mins to delivery but after this time had passed I had to ring twice to chase. The first time they said it had left 3 mins ago but the second time I called they said they would add a side dish to apologise so when I challenged them that this meant the order hadn’t left they admitted this was the case!! Our meal was finally delivered after 1 hour 45! Food was ok but we will not be using again.

Great restaurant unfortunately due to new ownership they no longer take the dine card so quite disappointed as was the reason for dining there

Came here with my family on Monday night and have to say I really enjoyed my evening. Food was delicious and staff where great.

My daughter and I visited on a Sunday evening and ate from the banquet menu.£11.95 per person for a starter, main, side dish and rice or naan. The choices cover all the favourites with a couple of interesting additions.I changed my main for one from the regular menu which cost an extra £2. The service was just right, friendly and attentive without being overbearing.We thought the portions were generous. The food was very tasty, not at all oily and the quality seem to be very good. The waiter recommended upping the spice a little on the chicken Shashlik I'd ordered and the result was excellent.We were both very impressed and plan the visit again soon.

We had a takeaway delivered yesterday from jaipur, both currys and sides we ordered we're fantastic! I would definitely recomend anyone who likes good quality takeout to order from jaipur you wont be disappointed, we look forward to trying their restaurant in the near future 👍

I should start by saying i normally use Royal Eastern. But that’s under new management and has a new chef, so that’s as yet uncharted territory. So, we voted to try somewhere else. BUT they had to do the fabled starter naans as per Royal Eastern. Well, Jaipur does it just as good. Maybe even identical. Has the chef or owner moved here???Charger curry was too hot for both diners ordering it. Much hotter that Royal Eastern. So far 4 evacuations in 1 hr the next morning, so it’s got teeth. Delivery was a little slow, but all round pretty good. Delay ok as sat in pub with blokes, but if I’d been at home with the kids I would have cancelled.

Visited Jaipur last week with family visiting from USA. The set menu suited us all really well and we had a lovely meal. So much so that I decided to write a review. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were even able to take the left overs home. Would thoroughly recommend. Great meal and value.

Went with my wife and eldest son. The staff and service was excellent and the food was superb. Excellent value.

Wife suggested we pop out, so taking the youngest who loves Indian we booked at short notice and popped in. We met with politeness all evening by the staff and they suggested a different dish for my son and I from what we would normally have.

I had Chicken tikka madras, garlic nan, garlic rice, the meal was top draw the madras was cooked to perfection just enough spice but not enough to take the top layer of your mouth away. Rice was spot on and the garlic nan was near perfect only fault was it was a bit crispy at the ends The portion was perfect for me just enough that I managed finish it all. Friendly staff, interior seemed ok but it’s low lights so couldn’t comment fully.

This is one of our local Indians and generally always have a great meal. The staff are always very friendly and food generally pretty good although this time the food seemed below the usual standard which was disappointing especially as it’s considerably more expensive than the other local ones!

Lovely chilled atmosphere with beautiful music...great service and fresh food which wasn't over seasoned. Staff are really attentive and friendly. It's now our usual haunt, we will come again. Very happy

Slow service the owner was very pushy and too familiar. Retaurnt was scruffy the carpet was dirty. Food was awful sauces could have come out of a jar and it was expensive for what it was.

Quite pricey, and provides a passable imitation of an authentic Indian dining experience for those unaccustomed with Indian food of any merit. Main waiter was extremely pushy, insisting on more pricey options for customers and patrons appeared bullied into decisions. Poor food, average service from a bullish workforce. Tap water is not an option; but we have the option to pay through the nose for still water. According to the Licensing Act 2003 (Mandatory Licensing Conditions) Order 2010 all restaurants in England and Wales that serve alcohol are legally required to give customers free tap water.

We were greeted with a very friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble throughout the evening, the food was delicious and so tasty we took the leftovers home with us. The atmosphere was just right we had a catch up with family from away and the table was ours for the evening from 7.30pm, no rush to finish and leave. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Easily the worst curry I've had in years. Completely lacking any sort of spice or flavour. The Rogan Josh just tasted like a tomatoey lamb stew and the daal was a tasteless slop.

Fabulous food and fabulous service, would highly recommend, caters for wheat and dairy intolerance.

I have been to this restaurant several times now and the food has always been excellent and the portion sizes generous. The staff are extremely friendly and chatty (although reading some of the other reviews, this may not suit everyone). With so many menu choices on offer it is hard to recommend a specific dish, but I would definitely recommend a visit, especially if you like quality Indian cuisine.

Awful manager. Intrusive, loud and interfering. Wanted to be left to war in peace but had him shouting in our ears the whole night. Really not a nice experience.

It was highly recommended by friends & despite going previously we thought we would try it again & were disappointed. The meal was expensive & despite it being a quiet early evening the atmosphere wasn't very nice. I was really annoyed that all the tables around us were cleaned by staff who were bored...whilst we were eating! Even more annoying was the fact that they were using 'spray' cleaner & stacked chairs on the table so made us we feel that they wanted us to leave! The owner kept chatting & just wanted him to go away! As he was annoying too.Won't be going back

One of the worst experience in my life. Food was really rubbish and too much expensive. They usually take more time to prepare food and use same spicy in all curry.

This is our local restaurant and take-away. The manager knows every customer by name and always finds us a table. It's a lovely atmosphere and food can be cooked to specific taste or in a traditional style - even if it's not on the menu! I have never had a bad meal or an unpleasant time. It is like stepping ito another world when you are inside and it doesn't feel 'local' - it feels like you could be anywhere on a good night out. The bonus for us is that we can walk there! Try it!

We went with our daughter and her partner for a meal. This was the first time my husband and I have been here. The decour was pleasant enough, they had very dim lights which made it difficult to read the menu,after speaking to them they turned them up. The food was in plentiful supply, well cooked and tasty. The staff were friendly and gave us a nice welcome,however we were the only ones eating in that night. I would recommend.

Disappointing visit. No atmosphere - you felt you were in a shop unit!. Food poor, very expensive and the most smarmy owner. Definitely avoid. There are much better establishments nearby.

Visited with mates, no starters except poppadoms 5. 4 drinks 2 beer 2 soft. 4 mains 4 rice 2 nans 2 veg sides 4 sweets £ 130 food ok but not exceptional as not that much meat. The owner was a bit too familiar. There a difference between cheeky and offensive, I was the oldest of the 4 but did not appreciate being called grandad by someone I had never met before. We also gad a table of 6 next to ours who were noisy and full of themselves. Especially the bint that got the giggles very very loudly, if your reading this then you should be ashamed of your behaviour. Will not be returning.

I ordered a Prawn Tikka Tandori as a main meal as a takeway. Six prawns and a pile of fried onions arrived. This is NOT a main meal. I tried to resolve this with the restaurant, and was told to go and find cheaper elsewhere if I wasn't happy. Disgraceful way to treat someone who has been a customer for more than 10 years. I will never order from here again...

I am a big fan of eating in here, but also the occasional delivery. As usual, last night's delivery was fabulous food, arrived very quickly, food hot. I have never had a poor experience of delivery food from Jaipur!

I've eaten here with my parents several times over the years. As a huge fan of Indian food, the quality and range has always been excellent. There is nothing particularly unique about the restaurant but it is the best Indian I have had in Ipswich.Perhaps the nicest thing is the friendliness of the staff, particularly the chap who seems to be in charge of the front of house operation. Despite several years passing between each visit, I always remember him as he comes to the table for a chat and you always get more than you expected (thank you for the complimentary brandy at the end of my meals here!)It is a little 'local' and there's clearly a 'regular crowd' who take great pride in pointing this out, but hey, it is Ipswich after all. I've seen a few reviews on here saying the service is poor. I cant disagree more... its like that old Hindi saying; The Guest is God!

I have eaten in the restaurant on several occasions over many years and the meals have been consistently excellent.I thought I would try the home delivery service for the first time. I ordered the meals three hours before my required delivery time in order to give the restaurant plenty of time to prepare. The manager assured me the meals would be delivered on time. I phoned the restaurant one hour after the agreed delivery time to ask where the delivery had got to as it still had not arrived. I was fobbed off with some pathetic excuses and then told the delivery was just being prepared. A lie. Less than two minutes later the delivery arrived at my door.The meals were opened up and they had to go straight into the microwave because the meals were barely warm. My meal consisted of four small pieces of chicken drowning in a sea of source – that cost me an incredible £9.The overall experience spoilt the evening. The meals were over-priced, small portioned and very mediocre. The service was just terrible. I had every intention of giving 5 stars based on my eat-in experiences but for my first (and last) home delivery experience I have struggled to give it 1 star. Very disappointing.

I visited this restaurant because if all the good reviews. It was very cold out. They were empty. I was in my own. After ordering I was told they couldn't serve me unless I spent a minimum of £10. My dish was £8.50 and they had me leave because I didn't want to buy a drink. Very poor. I have never had this happen before in any other restaurant in the world or in any other Ipswich restaurant. I understand a minimum for delivery. But really I'm sitting right there in an empty restaurant.
