I had a great experience at ChutneyZ Indian Restaurant. The place is clean and well-maintained, which is always a good start. The food was very good, even for someone like me who isn’t too familiar with Indian cuisine. Thankfully, Ankita was there to guide me through the menu—she clearly knows her job well and made excellent recommendations. The food was not only delicious and well-prepared, but also reasonably priced, making it a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy quality Indian food without breaking the bank. Definitely a place worth visiting!

V Good ambience. V Good service. And to top it all excellent authentic Indian food. The staff will cater to your taste of mild or spicy choice. When it comes to understanding Indian food I will not go wrong. Many restaurants across UK serve Indian food but they are not authentic. CHUTNEYZ has the edge over that!!! No denying that. Chicken Jalfarezi, Paneer Tikka masala, Dal Maharani and Naan. All a class apart. And a very pleasant waitress!!! Kudos owner/chef Rahul and his lady who make sure they deliver to the clients. Also very reasonably priced! Thank you. We will visit again

The staff member on the phone made the ordering process difficult & frustrating, not the best start. We agreed a time to collect & when I turned up I still had to wait nearly 20mins when the restaurant was empty.We ordered the chicken Briyani, lamb jalfreze & nan breads. The chicken Briyani was very disappointing only 2 pieces of chicken in the whole dishes, too much rice for the proportion of sauce. Rice just seemed like pilau rice instead of Briyani rice. Nan bread were dry and hard. Lamb jalfreze nice to be fair to the chef. Called up to complain but was told that was standard portions, again the staff member on the phone just made the process difficult and frustrating. Don't recommend guys, plenty of other Indian restaurants in town.

I visited ChutneyZ in Ipswich for lunch with my dad and had an enjoyable experience. It was great to see a dedicated vegan menu, and the food was of good quality and nicely presented. The restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly, but there was only one person working during our visit, which meant a bit of a wait to pay. It was very quiet at lunchtime, which suited us fine. My only suggestion would be to introduce a more affordable option for lunchtime meals. Overall, a lovely place to dine with great service.

EDITED TO RESPOND TO BS REPLY FROM RESTAURANT Was served rancid brown salad with overpriced thaali. Place empty. Only customers. Left for 20 mins before being asked for order. Food OK but Thaali quite small portions, and overpriced. Worst was the rancid brown salad. Amazed they had the gall to serve it. Must be blind. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS AFTER READING YOUR BS RESPONSE. For the benefit of other diners, the restaurant replied to my review saying the salad had spices on it. And that there would have been 1kg of food on the plate. No mate. Just no. There were three well travelled people in our party. We know what salad on the turn looks like. You know when the edges of the lettuce turns brown and red? Nobody touched it. And as for the claim that the food weighs 1kg. Ha ha ha ha. Get real. The food served on the 'tray' was in 4 little small ramikin sized dishes. The butter chicken had one cube of meat it in. It was paltry mate. Go have a word with yourself. I suspect you have done more damage to your establishment with your stupid reply than my original review ever did. Well done.

Waiter was lovely, that's it. Onion baghi like rocks. Almost broke a tooth. Korma too small! Four pieces of chicken in a tiny bowl for £10.50 a portion. Never going back there. Don't recommend!!

Just bought some masala chai from Chutneyz - we were quite disappointed as it lacked flavour - tasted very weak and watery - it definitely wasn’t worth the price

We dined at Chutneyz yesterday for lunch with a group of six, and overall, it was a delightful experience. We kicked off our meal with Chicken 65 and the non-veg platter as starters. Both dishes were flavorful and well-prepared, setting a positive tone for the rest of the meal. For our mains, we ordered butter naan and garlic & coriander naan, paired with Chicken Chettinad and Butter Chicken Masala. We requested an increase in spiciness, and the chef delivered perfectly; both curries were rich and aromatic. The highlight was undoubtedly the chicken and prawn biryani, which had generous portions and was beautifully spiced. However, I do suggest that the restaurant consider increasing the serving sizes for the starters and curries to match the appetites of larger groups. The service was commendable, with humble staff who made us feel welcome. Given the poor weather, the restaurant was not crowded, allowing us to enjoy a relaxed meal without any rush. Plus, being just a street away made it incredibly convenient. In summary, Chutneyz is a solid choice for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine in a comfortable setting. We left satisfied and will likely return soon!

Nice curry but I had only three chunks of lamb in it, mostly onions, peppers and sauce, won't order again from them.

Found this place by accident because another restaurant let us down. Very glad we did because it's a hidden gem. The Chicken 65 is the best Indian starter I've had and the Chicken Chettinad was delicious. We will be returning.

Have to review the kindness of this restaurant. We had a large table booked but had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. The manager was very understanding and moved our booking to another date. I felt this was very very important to recognise as not a lot of places would do this. If you are looking for an Indian restaurant with great service then this is for you!

Korma sauce was very watery. Very small pot of mango chutney came with poppadom - simply not enough.

We ordered delivery to my address which is not even 1 mile from Chutneys, ipswich via Uber eats. I called up restaurant to confirm my address just to avoid any misdelivery and they confirmed to let the delivery person know about the address. Still I didn't get the delivery after waiting for an hour. When I called in they said the restaurant is closed and they aren't responsible for customer not getting food. They took the money and never cared about our delivery. Uber eats rider wasn't reachable and they said order is not eligible for refund. They took my hard earned 20 pounds and left us hungry on a Sunday spoiling the weekend evening. This never happened in india with swiggy Or zomato as they are on call till the delivery completes. Both the delivery partner and restaurant are both irresponsible and unaccountable in this case as they are always taking money is advance with no cash on delivery option and nit caring about your food delivery and satisfaction. Don't think you will get any repeated customer in future as you can only fool them once.

The food is very bad. They say they are open till 10pm on weekdays but they shut down at 8:30pm. Would recommend any other Indian restaurants in Ipswich but not this.

I visited Chutneyz on Wednesday, 17th July at 8:30 pm. We ordered Chicken 65, Fish Tikka, and Palak Paneer with Naan. When our order arrived, all the dishes came together, and we noticed that the Fish Tikka was actually Amritsar Fish, according to their menu. I brought this to the waitress's attention, who then went to the kitchen and returned, insisting that despite the menu description, this was supposed to be Fish Tikka. This is unacceptable and confusing. Changing the dish without updating the menu is misleading and dangerous, especially for those with allergies. Such negligence puts customers at risk. Overall, our experience was disappointing and concerning. We will not be returning. @Response to Chutneyz reply: Thanks for your reply. We've had Fish Tikka multiple times, always cooked in the tandoor. If you’ve changed the cooking method, it should be updated in the menu. All we're asking is for the menu to reflect what’s actually served. We ordered the dish for our daughter, who is not good with to battered deep-fried food, and Tandoor fish seemed like the safest option. She couldn’t eat anything due to this mistake, and she was hungry waiting for us to finish. Please check your cameras before making any assumptions. We could have argued to cancel the fish dish at the time, but we didn’t want to waste food, so we continued with our meal. We didn’t even know the bill would be adjusted and weren't informed until the end. My husband insisted on paying regardless. Without us asking or complaining, why did you take it off the bill? It seems you knew it was your mistake. Of course, we worry about allergies. It’s my responsibility to raise this issue since it caused confusion and discomfort for us. We wrote the review based on our experience to get your attention and prompt changes. Your waitress mentioned that the menu hasn’t changed but will soon. This review was meant to make you aware. For your reference, I've attached photos and checked your menu. It clearly says TANDOOR, not deep-fried. No one comes to a restaurant for free food or to have their mood ruined.

Lovely food, complimented the chef on the tender lamb. It didn't take long for it to be delivered to the table. The only down side was that it was very expensive and they charged me for 2 naan breads, which was one cut in half, which I thought was a bit cheeky!

Hands down, the best Indian Takeaway! The flavours are beautiful, the quality of the ingredients is impeccable and the service is second to none. Food is always delivered either early or on time too, meaning the food is always hot on arrival. I cannot fault Chutneyz and will look forward to my next order.

Had read mixed reviews but decided to try it for ourselves. Very glad we did. Didn't book but quickly shown to a table and within half an hour the place was full (on a Monday night) Which gave a really good vibe Contrary to some other reviews we didnt have to wait to be given menus, get our drinks or have our order taken. Food was delicious with something that sets it apart from other restaurants we have been to. I had malai kofta, absolutely delicious but I have never seen this on a menu before We had a great night, thank you very much. Only disappointment was that we couldn't add a tip to our bill using a card and only had £1 coin to tip our server, Lily who deserved so much more for being discretely attentive. We will definitely be back (with cash for a tip ) ☺️👍

We popped in to the Chutneyz in Duke St , Ipswich for a quick bite , the 1st bite of a excellently presented samosa had us sit down and to put simply , experience one of the most delicious meals we have had in England , and the waiter was helpful and friendly ……. So overall I can say 10 out of 10 , we will be back and certainly will spread the word

Absolutely amazing food. I have lived in India previously, and the butter chicken at ChutneyZ is authentic as it comes. It’s rich and full of flavour and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend coming here just for the butter chicken. I almost shed a tear it was that good.

Unfortunately it might be chutneyz by name but not by nature. The chutney's served with the poppadoms were so poor, we paid for our drinks and walked out! So disappointed.

Food was not good as per atmosphere. Staff was even not friendly, we had a big order and they were not even serving complimentary food. I would not recommend to go over there…

The food is 6/10. However will never eat here again. How on earth can you charge £2 a poppadom? We had 10 at out table of 4 and they wanted £20. They don't charge that in Trishna and that's a Michelin in Mayfair. So because of the greed you get 1 star. It's also freezing in the winter where you have to wear your coat. The service is shocking. They expect you to re use your cutlery too, this isn't Europe. The restaurant needs a refurb and I've sat in better cafes. So once again to rip customers off isn't on.

Some dishes like their boti chicken and lamb curry were a hit. Nans were soft and tasty. Butter chicken, kebabs and chicken starters were not great but not bad. What let this place down was the unattentive service staff. 15 min in no attention from them to give order. When food was prepared and at kitchen window the staff paid no attention. When I wanted a drink I had to wait 15min so get someone's attention. When I wanted bill I had to get up and ask even though I was sitting there with empty plate and coat and on for 15min. Eventually Waitress turns up with bill but leaves it on table but doesn't bring payment machine,she just walks off.

Firstly, I will say the food was nice. Big portions and authentic. However the service was absolutely appalling. The server we had didn't seem to want to be there. We were a small table, polite and didn't ask for anything out of the ordinary. I get everything is cooked to order so understand a wait time for the orders but not for taking dishes away. We wanted to order desserts but after our mains our dishes just stayed on the table whilst the two servers just chatted behind the bar. Disinterested. It was a Saturday night. Restaurant was pretty dead too so can't even say they were rushed off their feet. For £90 for our meal, I expect much better service. Think I'll just stick to our local, and better, Indian takeaway and avoid this one. From other reviews I am expecting a rather rude reply from the owner, which, absolutely sums up this place 😂

A big thank you to Chutneyz staff who went extra mile to prepare me gluten free meals specially the glutenfree bread as am highly tolerant to wheat. Already booked our next table for the weekend So a big thank you guys .

Third time here and was recommended butter chicken and freshly made naan bread by the server . Have to say one of the best indian food I had out of india. Can't wait to try more food items of the menu. Kudos to chef and the waitress !!!

I am extremely disappointed with my second visit to this establishment. The first time I came here with my family, I felt that everything was satisfactory. However, on this occasion, I was looking forward to introducing my friends to this Indian restaurant and trying new dishes. Unfortunately, the service was incredibly poor. The staff seemed visibly annoyed, and their behavior was extremely unprofessional. We ordered lamb, chicken, and prawn biryani, and I also attempted to order beef biryani. Regrettably, they did not have it, but that was not a major issue. However, the way the staff responded was incredibly rude. Once we placed our food order, the service only worsened. The staff member appeared unhappy and served the biryani without any accompaniments such as salad or yogurt. It wouldn't have been a problem if he had politely asked if we wanted any additional items, which would have been charged separately. Additionally, he brought the water at the very end. And the service is too late. There were only 2 tables and not much busy. I saw him just waiting and doing nothing. To make matters worse, we were accompanied by a 4-year-old child, and I had ordered chicken nuggets for him. However, what was served was not chicken nuggets. Despite this disappointment, I politely asked if they could expedite the preparation process as the child was hungry. The staff member's response was a blunt "no." He claimed it would take time, which I understood, but I expected him to be more courteous. His demeanor was incredibly harsh and unfriendly. I am unsure why this was the case. In any case, the food itself was satisfactory, and I have no complaints about it. However, the service was absolutely abysmal. I cannot even give this establishment a single star, and I will not be returning.

I ordered a takeaway which I do frequently and the staff are marvellous can not do enough for you and the food is excellent and so tasty and of high standards and is the same all the time definitely would recommend this establishment to anybody who enjoys good food.

The food was really nice, I had a chicken korma and it was different to other kormas I've had previously, it was much more flavoursome, I will definitely be going back, the lovely guy who served us was very helpful and very polite! I've got nothing that needed improving was totally excellent!

We were visiting Ipswich for the weekend & ate dinner here. The food was presented lovely but sadly disappointing! Onion bahji overcooked & hard, Tarka Dahl watery & very spicy, Butter Chicken also spicy & watery, should be thick & creamy & mild. All food VERY salty. One of our party of 3 was poorly that night & following day( sickness & bad tummy)The best thing were the papadoms! Young lady who served us was pleasant, although I was charged twice for one dish, mistakes happen of course, but seemed put out when I raised it! Our plates etc were still on table when we left. I wouldn't return. Only positive was food was hot( not just warm).

I have been to many Indian restaurants in my time but I can honestly say this is the worst. Food is watery and the decor is chip board with a few pictures hung on it. I would definitely give this one a miss.

Lovely food and really friendly servers. Its very reasonably priced and you get a good portion for what you order. Its the best indian I’ve had in ipswich and I would happily recommend. The poppadoms and mango chutney are really good too!

We always have good food here and it’s one of my favourites in Ipswich. The only downside is the music can be a little loud but it’s still amazing.

This was the worse Indian we have ever had. The food was all cold, the curry was more like a stew and was completely bland, we have eaten in the reaturant before and it was lovely but this delivery we was left very let down and we could not eat any of it.

Turned up at restaurant without a booking as visiting Ipswich for the derby match tomorrow. They had tables set for work Christmas parties and they had one table for two left which they kindly let us have. The service was excellent very courteous and friendly staff. The food came out hot, it was plentiful, mouthwatering and very delicious. We had starters a main course and dessert. Would highly recommend and will certainly be back again. Thank you so much

I love this place, my favourite Indian restaurant ever. The lunchtime Thali is amazing. Slow cooked lamb main dishes, fish curries, malai kofta and parathas are all highlights on the menu. Always friendly service too. Update a year later: still amazing!

I first experienced Chutneyz at the music event in Christchurch Park. I had a meal at Chutneyz, which was very nice.

Pretty average food. Ordered Chicken Curry and Biryani. Whatever they are selling in terms of Biryani is just travesty. Chicken Curry had hardly 4 pieces. Overall, wouldn't recommend. Would suggest Zaika which is less than a mile away in Town Center.

First time coming here on recommendations. It was a lunchtime so not too busy, really friendly young waitress. Food took a little while but I'm sure it was cooked from scratch. The onion bhaji's were so tasty and the flavour of our curries was wonderful. We will return 😊

I had an excellent meal at ChutneyZ, eating with friends who all agreed that it was the best Indian food we've enjoyed in Ipswich. The setting and atmosphere are pleasant and unpretentious. It is not a fancy restaurant, and does not pretend to be. The decor is simple and comfortable, and the focus and energy have been put into the friendly, attentive service, and the exceptionally good food. The food is authentic, delicious, and very reasonably priced. I enjoyed the best samosa I've had in the UK, and the Lamb Chattinad was exceptional.

Had mixed reviews from this restaurent so decided to see for ourselves. Small menu but everything on there is delicious. I had onion bhajies to start. They were superb. Different to what I am used to but still superb. I then had butter chicken not too spicy however my husband wanted the same but with more of a bite. Chef came out to see us and advised what to do. Again the result was superb. This is a little known gem. We will defiantly be going back. Very friendly staff. Be prepared for a little wait for your food as it’s cooked fresh and comes out piping hot. Be patient it’s worth the wsit

We requested table for 15 guests to celebrate a Birthday Party. The staff and services were awesome. Food has always been very nice here. I must mention that Shreya is an excellent member of the restaurant, she was very helpful, kind, prompt and organised in her service skills that made managing so many guests quiet easy. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to all.
