Jade Fountain Restaurant in Windsor and Maidenhead

Quiet and relaxed midweek meal with a friend. Food was delicious but a little pricey at around £50 per person (not including drinks or desserts). The service was quick and friendly. Would definitely go again for a treat/quiet meal. The car park nearby is 2 hours free parking but you still need to get a ticket from the machine.

Excellent food and service. The duck was exceptional and plenty of vegan options with staff happy to create individual dishes to suit. Sizzling beef was the showpiece dish. Parking nearby and a nice casual atmosphere.

Very traditional upmarket Chinese Restaurant. Spaciously laid out, great staff, very good food. A bit pricey but certainly in the you get what you pay for category. Good selection of standard dishes plus a few more less common ones. A couple of set menus which work out cheaper. Good wine list. Will visit again Does takeaway food as well

Very disappointing. This Restuarant used to be very good. Now the food is bland and very over priced. It’s always empty - I wonder if it’s a front for something??? I won’t be going back again.

Popped in late on Sunday evening for some takeaway food. The place is now under new management, with the charming and exuberant Kenny running the show. The food was excellent. I’ll be back to eat in.

Staff were friendly and attentive, service was fast and they gave us free prawn crackers, which was nice. But the food was just very bland and uninspiring, I’m afraid. No spices, no textural contrasts, no interesting ingredients. Everything tasted soft and gloopy. Prices also seemed quite steep.

Can't comment on the restaurant as we ordered a takeaway. This Chinese is the best Chinese we've had in a long time. The food was delicious, especially the lamb with lettuce dish. Highly recommended and best Chinese in Ascot.

Hadn't been here for a while but the room, service and food was as good as ever. We took the set menu for 2 which has just about all we wanted. With 1.5 beers each the bill (with service charge) was almost £110 which I feel is a bit high, even being in an expensive area.

New Year’s Eve 2022.. we were blown away by the quality of the food and great service. Haven’t been to this place for years but it’s now the best it’s ever been and we will be going back regularly.

Great service, very nice food, But the cost of some items, spring rolls resembled a frozen product for £9 And the calamari again very nice but £10.50 for something that is frozen and fried with cornflour with a few bits of chilli, The chow meins were very big more than enough for 2 people, I would go back however management need to look at costs as I'm sure itll be alot busier if more realistic prices were in place.

We had dinner at Jade last night and ordered 5 to 6 dishes for a group of 7. The total bill ended up being over 322 pound sterling - the hot & sour soup was 8 per person, rice was 5.50 per bowl, so it added up to be an very expensive meal for a mid range Chinese restaurant.

The Jade is far more expensive than similar restaurants. Previously the quality of food has supported this premium. The current takeaway was awful and it will be harder to justify revisiting rather than eating elsewhere.

Booked in with the family, including a young child and needy mother. Staff were attentive and great with helping with food and various needs. Food was also equally good - seaweed outstanding and duck on point. Egg fried rice portions a little small but quickly replaced if low. Would recommend.

I phoned at 6:20 on New Year’s Eve to order a takeaway. I was told it wouldn’t be ready until 8:30. I accepted that, but when I went there it was not ready, and took a further 35 minutes. The staff never apologised, and did not seem at all sorry. I know it was busy because of New Year, but several other customers came in to collect takeaways after us, and all got their food promptly. The food was pretty mediocre when we finally got to eat, and not as high a standard as we have had previously. I would not choose to eat from here again.

Seeing other people’s reviews I totally agree! We have been loyal customers for 4 years now and the manager is so rude and abrupt over the phone and in person! There is no need for his bad attitude time and time again! It’s disgusting but we are limited in options for a decent Chinese restaurant in the area so we have to put up with poor customer experience as the food is really nice!

Just the rudest management we have ever come across. Short and snappy and not the manner at all in which diners should be treated. We have been very good customers for a couple of years but our loyalty has never been met with any kind of friendliness or appreciation. We have made the decision to never go back after the last incidence of unacceptable service. Shame as the food is ok. By no means great but there is no competition in the area anymore.

We ate here as the restaurant in our hotel was full and no other restaurant in Sunningdale could accommodate us. As we hadn’t booked we were sat in an area by the door which was obviously reserved for walk-ins so not sure what the main restaurant looked like. We decided on a set meal for two and a bottle of house white. The food came out very quickly, almost as if they were trying to rush us to turn the table so we decided to eat extra slowly. Starters were ok, the ribs were lovely. Duck was ok, I had expected it to be carved at the table but it was just plonked down in front of us already done. Main courses were a bit disappointing, for the price we were expecting them to be much bigger. The vegetables were really glutinous and couldn’t really be classed as a main dish in my opinion. There were only about 5 prawns in the king prawn dish and the crispy beef just tasted like crispy batter. The bowl of fried rice accompanying it was tiny!I think £93 for the set menu, bottle of house white and two bottles of water was very steep especially when the dishes were so small. Staff couldn’t even be bothered to say bye when we left!

We went here for a night of celebration. Initial impressions were poor as we were shown to our table, brusque to the point of rudeness. We were given prawn crackers and so some what was meant to be a sweet chilli sauce, but nothing like I had seen before, didn’t taste right. We had the mixed starters which were okay although the spare ribs were very dry. The main courses were very gelatinous, unnecessarily so, which spoiled it all for me. Nothing about it said freshly done. All served by surly waiting staff. The only smile we got was from the manager. Very disappointing evening. It wasn’t busy, there were plenty of empty tables- no atmosphere at all.

There is nothing wrong with the food here apart from it's really not as good as the price tag . I have been here a few times and I always walk out thinking its not worth £100 for two people . Also this place has the atmosphere of an airport lounge . They need to sort the decor and the lighting , its really tired . That said this is the best Chinese in the area . Food was very good, no long delays and staff were on hand when needed. Front door isn’t where you’d expect lol, main entrance is to the side. Clean and tidy would happily return.

What has happened to this restaurant? We used to eat here or have take outs all the time but haven't for a couple of month. We decided to have a take out last night and wish we had never bothered. The staff and manager were extremely grumpy and surly....not even saying 'Hello'. The food was terrible....I couldn't eat mine (had to quickly defrost something from the freezer instead!). I had heard a few bad reports about this place but ignored them...how stupid was I? The restaurant and the staff do not deserve our custom.

Made the mistake of expecting nice food after attending Ascot Races. Food was bland and could have been from a buffet type restaurant - greasy and poorly presented. When a party member had to leave after just prawn crackers they still insisted on the £50 set menu charge. Never again...and we are locals!

Visited once again but was disappointed this time with the food. The restaurant is very clean, attentive staff but the food seems to have changed since my last visit. We had a set menu for 4 people. The starters were good as was the duck but when the main course turned up there didn’t seem to be enough food for 4.

Still our favourite restaurant for over 30 years! Excellent food and service every visit. Definitely recommend for anyone seeking first class Chinese cuisine in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. 5 stars *****

8 of us went for dinner on a Friday night - there were only 3 tables dining and we were the last ones in there at 10pm so felt like we needed to leave. Food is delicious though, very good portions. Staff were efficient. Maybe caters more for the older generation which is ashame.

The menu is vast and served piping hot. The Lazy Susan in the middle of the table is great for families to pick and chose a bit of everything. The atmosphere is very nice. Get there earl if you need to park though there is a carpark very near. One of the few chinese restaurants in the area of this calibre. Can also be a romantic and private place too. xx

Booked a table for 6 at 7.30, cound not ask for a better service or food, 6 differant meals from the menu,all served at the same time piping hot, great service too.

Never ever again. Booked a table for Mother’s Day via telephone for 2pm only to turn up and be told kitchen closed at 2.30pm so we had to order quickly! When asked why we weren’t informed of this vital info at time of booking the extremely rude waiter told us that all the ‘locals’ know this and not his problem. Needless to say no gratuity given and we won’t be heading back. Food totally over priced and mediocre at best and..seriously who charges £2.50 for a small drop of sweet chilli sauce to accompany a starter?!? Top tip...don’t bother visiting...

Visited with friends Saturday 2nd March. Food really is very ordinary at best.Had mixed hor dourves to start (£11.50 per person!). Asked to change ribs for veg spring rolls but were told not possible because they come in a packet..!! The spring rolls had NOTHING inside them. Pointed this out and were given the ‘comes in a packet’ excuse again. Main courses poor. Thai chicken came with huge, roughly cut onions etc. Sauce for Kung po prawns thick goo of msg. Waiter doing too many tables and so very rushed. Owner fairly unfriendly and disinterested. Chilean Merlot quite nice but a little ott at £7.50 for a 175 ml glass. Very poor value for money and will not be returning.

We have never eaten at The Jade before but this is something we changed last night. Very good first impressions - lovely clean restaurant with crisp white tablecloths and friendly, courteous staff.

We booked a table for two last minute on Valentine’s Day and they fortunately still had a table. Each table had a single red rose in a vase which was a nice touch. The lower floor dining space where we sat isn’t as atmospheric as the upper facing out to the street with large windows, I would recommend requesting a table there if possible. The waiter was helpful, professional and patient, asking the kitchen if they could prepare the pork and prawn dim sum with just prawns, which they accommodated. Mini vegetarian spring rolls, crispy seaweed and tom yum soup were all delicious. We love their sticky hoisin sauce too. Green tea was the perfect way to end the meal, with two valentines heart chocolates presented with the bill. There was a large group of about 8 on a nearby table playing music from their phones which we was inconsiderate for others diners, it would have been nice if a waiter asked them to kindly refrain.

First visit to this restaurant, the interior is spacious and well layed out. The menu is varied with a fair few spicy dishes - no gloopy sauces here! Started with minced chicken wrapped in lettuce leaves and spicy prawns, both dishes very good. Almost forgot spicy Thai crackers and Chinese prawn crackers as an appetiser. For mains we had chicken with cashew nuts in a tasty mild slightly sweet sauce and lamb done with ginger and soring onion in a garlic sauce with a very spicy nasi goreng. All delicious. With drinks the was £70 for two, very reasonable. The restaurant itself was about 75% full. We will return.

I am sad to say as a local business in the village and i support all my fellow owners, i have eaten here many times over the last 10years but the last 3 takaways have been missing something with no apologies, boarding on arrogance. no apology or replacement of food missed.

Visited with family pre Christmas for a very tasty meal, Chinese being one of our favourites and makes a nice alternative to turkey overload! Would definitely recommend.

Got takeaway from here and we had to throw the Thai curry away. Was vile smelling and looked nothing like what it was supposed to. The duck too was inedible. Very expensive for what it is.

I visited The Jade in Sunninghill on a busy Saturday night, food was really great, tasted fresh and full of flavour. Our waiter, Vas, really impressed us on this particular visit. He was probably the most enthusiastic and cheerful staff member there, always checking on us. He was extremely helpful with any of our queries and very polite, he never stopped running around! Great to see some nice staff members here, he made it rememberable and will definitely be returning!

For an expensive meal the food was ordinary, verging on bland. Also by the end of my dish I had a side plate full of bits, wooden bamboo and inedible leaves. Never again

We got a takeawy from here costing about £80 for 4 people. We wouldnt have minded the price if it was wirth it but it was underwhelming to say the least.

A long established popular restaurant which has been in the village for over 20 years. One of the few places that still serves authentic Chinese cuisine. Its a very clean and well run business with a loyal clientele who keep returning. For genuine customers who know and enjoy Asian food you will not be disappointed. The salt and pepper squid, crispy duck, and sweet and sour fish are recommended. There is Peroni on draft and a well priced wine list. Enjoy!

Food is always reasonably good here, service ok but the interior, I’m sorry every time I eat here I am reminded of why I normally get a takeaway. Tired tired decor and no atmosphere whatsoever which is a shame. Surely it’s time for a makeover which is a bit more than just a lick of paint!

We were a small group of 6 people and arrived mid week to an almost empty restaurant. asked if we had booked and we said no, we were made to wait 10-15 minutes before we were shown to one of the many empty tables. Service was surly and a pity as the food was good and had the cheek to include the service charge without asking, will not be rushing back, too many good options nearby to have to go back.

The Jade Fountain has been around for a very long time and has generally been good. Recently the food has improved and is now very good. The only poor point of our meal was the Chinese crackers with Chile sauce which we don't like, and asked to change for sweet Chile sauce and were charged extra.

We visited this restaurant whilst staying in the area. The staff at the restaurant were very welcoming and friendly which with 2 young children certainly helps. We had a set meal which was lovely. The quality was excellent, one of the best we’ve had. Would certainly recommend or call in if we was ever on the area again.

And what a little gem it is ..? Great service with attention to detail, spottlessly clean,fantastic food,and smiley friendly staff. Little pricy but worth every penny,the food is delicious. Takeaway offered too. Really busy on the evening we went,with ppl coming in and eating the whole time ,but we didn't wait more than 5 mins to be seated. Can't wait to go to Ascot again. This restaurant tick all the boxes, good friendly staff, good tasting food and great ambience. Modern looking restaurant that serves good fresh ingredient and tasty dishes. The management team was great in looking after their customers, we will be back soon.

We’ve enjoyed the Jade Fountain over a number of years. 10 years ago it was THE place to go. Now, sadly, it has a lot of room for improvement.

This really is the best Chinese restaurant in Berkshire. The food is always fresh, packed with flavour and delicious. An amazing menu with a huge variety of dishes and caters for all tastes and dietary requirements. The staff are very attentive and can't do enough to assist and make the whole experience feel a special one. Will be back very soon!!

Turned up here at opening time on a Friday with my wife and two young children. Was greeted by a miserable woman employee who declared I couldn’t bring my 2 year olds sons bike inside! After consulting the manager they eventually let us in to the empty restaurant!

We always come to this restaurant for special treats and tonight it was no exception. very friendly staff and great atmosphere on Saturday evening combine with good tasting food.

The food here is better than the usual take away although it is now expensive as they have recently put up the prices. I wouldn’t never have a meal in the restaurant because it is cold with no friendliness or atmosphere. The manager is always very snappy and abrupt on the phone and has put me off having to call for a take away.

Having moved out of the area for some time, it’s nice to be able to come back here to my familiar spot for a meal. I’ve seen the other reviews talk about dropping standards but honestly, from a German perspective, the service is still an exceptional standard when we went! Great to be back!!

Growing up in the area, The Jade was a go to destination for family treats, celebrations and takeaways. We come back after 5 years away and the food has turned from outstanding to awful. Such a massive shame! Soggy Chilli Beef with chemical out of a packet taste, dry dry dry satay chicken and special fried rice drenched in oil. I am told the by friends that the old head chef recently moved to Crowthorne ... a bit far for a takeaway perhaps but we might head over for dinner as were not going back here until they pull themselves together.

Our first time dining here. Yes it is expensive (£250 for 4 dining without wine) but the food is good quality, service is efficient and there was no lengthy wait. We dined during the week and It was quite empty and needed background music or something to soften the atmosphere. Also pricing is quite toppy so would not got that often due to that.

This restaurant in Sunninghill High Street, not Ascot, has always been our first choice when ordering a Chinese takeaway. However had our usual selection this evening and it was the worst tasting food I have experienced. The smell on getting in the car was the first alert - it just emitted an odour of chemicals and that was concurred in the taste. Shredded beef which had always been devoured in the past, tasted like so artificial and fishy, something I have never experienced before or never intend to again. Chilli / basil chicken tasted more like a bar of soap; even the pak choi and prawn crackers tasted wrong.....but hey we enjoyed our rice. Definitely avoid this place now. It's just not the same sorry - it's an expensive take-away comparably and now cannot justify this premium, especially as the service is also somewhat unfriendly. We will never go back.

Before I wrote this I tried to take this up with the Jade restaurant manager. I wrote on 15.02.2018 and it took a further copy of the letter to him to get any response. Eventually I was offered a bottle of wine on my next visit. Saying I would be driving and did not want alcohol seemed to be a waste of time as the manager said it was the only option but no recognition of feedback provided to him. There was no atmosphere in the restaurant for Valentine's Night and no effort was made to make it a special setting for the evening even no candles on the table when it clearly advertised a Valentine Menu which cost higher than the normal menu. The service was appalling with the lady waiter being very rude and a chap just dumping a rose on the table. Food was nice but on cold plates. A very disappointing night and experience all round.
