By day three I was asking for two starters for dinner. They were edible...although the soups were very salty. The venison tasted like beef. The beef was overlooked. The veggies were mush.

The Jacobite Restaurant is in the 19th century Ben Wyvis Hotel and is where the guests are served. Those not staying at the hotel may book a table for lunch or dinner - I don't know if they serve breakfast to those not staying at the hotel. The restaurant is an enormous baronial hall of polished wood, tall windows, and shimmering chandeliers. The tables are laid nicely and there is plenty of space between to dine quietly with one's mates. So the dining atmosphere is quite pleasant. I found the staff to be friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. I especially enjoyed the Highland beef with mashed potatoes and vegetables. There are vegetarian choices available. My wife is a vegetarian and enjoyed her meals there although I honestly cannot remember now what they were. The bar is in the lounge just off the restaurant and one may pick up a pint or a glass there and bring it in. I'm sure the waitstaff would serve you a drink quickly enough but I never thought to ask as I came in from the lounge. The restaurant is handicapped accessible once one is in the hotel. A person in a wheelchair might have trouble outside with the stairs but they are easily managed with a cane.

Spent two nights at Ben Wyvis Hotel and although good 3 course menu there was also an A La Carte if required. Chef was prepared to cook any meal if she had the ingrediants to hand.

Eravamo presso l'albergo Ben Wyvis a Strathpeffer ed abbiamo provato il ristorante interno. La cena era alla carta. I cibi serviti erano davvero ben curati e dagli ottimi sapori. Il personale era gentile e il servizio molto veloce. La colazione al mattino era ricca e gustosa.

Stayed at hotel so sampled dinner & breakfast. Dinner nice enough but slightly bland; really needed heated up though as was at best lukewarm. Breakfast was a buffet which again was lukewarm 😢. Suspect catering standards may be dictated by the fact the restaurant is catering for coach parties. Staff were nice though and service quite quick.

If only the food were as good as the service -- Servers were polite, spot on, well trained folks, too bad the food they were serving evoked a giant MEH at best.

The 3 course meal and breakfast was included in hotel room charge and was nothing too fancy; it was quite obviously created to cater for the bus loads of guests. The main was a choice of fish/chicken/ or veg pasta (steak was charged a lot extra). I suspected that the dessert was bought ready made, which was slightly disappointing for such a 'fancy' hotel.. The breakfast buffet looked big and nice, but for example all fruit was from cans and tasted of metal. Cooked breakfast was OK.

Food was quite nice, good value, but a clinical service. The blue cheese pasta was tasty, and my husband said both the beef and the venison was very tasty. The table d'hote menu changed over the course of the weekend.

Rummet er flot og servicen er god, men udvalget og kvaliteten af maden er simpelthen ikke god til et hotel, som fortæller at de er et historisk sted. Ikke godt nok

Attached to the hotel Ben Wyvis. Lacking atmosphere, but the food is OK. Simple and not expensive. Staff is very friendly. Monday evening this is the only option in town, and that's why we had dinner here. Expectations were accordingly low, and so we felt it was a pleasant surprise.

Don't waste your money, there was little choice, totally flavourless and zero atmosphere. I would not eat here again.

The restaurant formed part of our Bed, Breakfast and Evening Meal plan. However non residents could also visit and have an evening meal.Traditional Scottish Fayre at reasonable prices.Good choice of wines. Only one draught beer and two lagers. However, I was happy as Newcastle Brown was on sale.

I booked a table at the Jacobite restaurant inside the Ben Wyvis Hotel for our wedding anniversary. We tied the knot 2 years previous in said hotel and thought it would be nice to revisit. I booked the table for 7pm and we arrived at 6:55pm. We got shown to our table and after about 10 minutes waiting, the lady who took our reservation came and said she thought we were booked in for 8pm and apoligised saying the menu was being typed out. To be fair we were the first ones in at this point, so I guess they just got caught on the hop. The waitress was very attentive and apologetic, but we didn't mind about the mix up as mistakes happen. After this little hiccup, the evening was very enjoyable. The service was very good and the food was top notch. The waitress was very friendly and a credit to the job. Overall a nice evening, which gave us a chuckle.

No food on offer other than crisps, ice cream and a meagre offering of cake, shocked as we were there for a 1pm show and had travelled over an hour thinking we would be fine for lunch at the theatre. Staff were fine, no hint of getting things done in a timely fashion and not much interaction with customers. Decor is depressing, such a big space makes it cold and echoey. Just no atmosphere whatsoever. Very disappointed and won't be back.

We stayed at this Inn/Hotel at the beginning of November, returning home we received an email asking us to review our stay. This we did by email, however, we did not receive a reply nor did we receive a reply to our follow up copy email, which I now type below. "Many thanks for your email, usually we send a report good or bad to Tripadvisor, as you have asked for feedback I am happy to share our thoughts with you initially. I have an email from you confirming our reservation from the 4th to the 8th November, 2024 in a Garden Room. This was because we have a dog and thought this would be an easier option should she need to go outside. When we arrived we had NOT been booked into a Garden Room for our five nights, as per your confirmation. We were offered a garden room for 3 nights and two other nights elsewhere within the hotel. I really did not feel changing rooms, packing and unpacking for two nights was a good idea, so we opted to stay again in Room 111 for the five night stay. I am sure you will agree, this was not a good start to our holiday. I spoke to another couple who had also booked a garden room only to find they too had been misallocated a room and these long established customers were very upset and vowed not to return next year for their 8th year. I feel it necessary to draw to your attention the lack of servicing for Room 111. Each day our duvet was "just turned over at the top", the bottom sheet was not straightened and the pillows were as we had arisen, not even straightened and aligned. The cleanliness in the bathroom left much to be desired. As I am sure you are aware there is no toilet brush next to the lavatory. The toilet was not cleaned throughout our stay and the bowl after five nights was turning a light shade of brown, however, diligent attention was paid to folding and making the spare toilet roll and the one for use look pretty. I would have preferred a clean toilet. This takes me on to the bath. On arrival there was a single long dark hair in the bath, as we did not use the bath and both have grey hair, this was still there when we left!! The shower doors require a thorough clean and polish, there is black mould on the wall and around the base of the shower. During our stay this was NOT cleaned at all. Mould and Mildew spray with a toothbrush would solve this problem. Likewise the wash hand basin was neglected. No dusting or vacuuming was carried out in the room for the duration of our stay. For your information I left a piece of cotton and a clean tissue on the floor and they were not picked up. When we had dinner in the bar area dogs were quite welcome. However, in the morning we did feel rather like second class citizens as we were with other dog owners required to use the alternative dining room, which was uninviting and a long way from the self-service area in the breakfast room. On two days for breakfast we were along with four other owners with dogs, allowed to use the breakfast room. No explanation was given for the flexible rule. To end on a good note, the staff were pleasant and helpful, always willing to assist in anyway they could. It is with interest I await your response. " On our next trip to Scotland we shall stay elsewhere.

Just popped in here at lunchtime, being 'in holiday' mode visiting Nairn. I asked for a cone of chips and the chap that served me was very pleasant, chatty and polite. The cone was nearly overflowing with chips with plenty of salt & vinegar added. They were freshly made, hot and very tasty. I would highly recommend if you are visiting Nairn. I will definitely go again and next time have the fish & chips - well you are at the seaside :)
