JACK SPICE in Swindon

The worst Biryani i have ever had, just rice, a hard boiled egg and thin strips of chicken tikka - where was the veg to call this a special biryani and charge me extra for it, was, audacious and untrue. The last 3 curries ordered from this establishment were poor and certainly lacking in substance and flavour - very low standards. Sack the cook and employ one who has knowledge of authentic indian cooking

Don’t bother ordering from here if you want an authentic curry, I ordered a hot curry and got a sweet curry instead. It was my first time trying this place out after hearing it had improved needless to say I won’t be going back again.

Ordered the Jack spice meal for 2 £28, this was loads of food and was all delicious. Food was delivered when they said it would be. 100% will be ordering again!

Ordered a take away tonight, had the Jack spice party pack, so much food, amazing value, food was really tasty and arrived within good time and piping hot, was really impressed

Terrible service, ordered for delivery, arrival time was supposed to be 70 minutes. Called after 90 and was told the order was being checked and apologised saying they are busy and will be there in 20 mins. 40 minutes later the food arrives cold, and food missing. I stopped the delivery driver and the person on the phone was very rude and said I can get extra on my next order. Refused to bring the missing food or refund part of the order. Awful!

Ordered food for two people, so not a massive order, at 1921. Had a message at 2040 from Just Eat saying enjoy your food and how did we do. But food hadn't been delivered Rang restaurant at 2110 asking where our food was, informed it was just leaving restaurant Food arrived at 2130, over two hours since we ordered. Just Eat have lied on their website, saying it had been delivered at 2025. Food was cold, bhajis and tikka starters had obviously been laying around, cold and greasy. Once we had reheated food it was tasty. We had the same experience in July when we ordered food. That time we rang twice to chase it up. Delivered about 1.5 hours later and part of the order was missing. We rang and weren't offered a credit, just told we could add missing items to our next order and wouldn't be charged. Hence ordering tonight We won't be ordering again.

Delievered wrong order . This has happened a few times now ordering from jack spice. We thought we’d give them another chance as we didn’t order for a few months because of this reason. When we phoned to say this isn’t our order, the guy on the phone was very rude, huffed at me down the phone, I asked for a refund he said no, asked to then re send the bits missing from order and it took another 90minutes! So the rest of the food was cold by then and ruined as we were missing our curry’s, so the rices, naan and starters were all cold. Won’t be ordering again as this has happened several times and the customer service is horrendous, such a shame as the curry’s are always very nice

Love Jack Spice, the curry is fantastic and it is great value for money. I have been here many times and recommended it to my friend who came along with me, he was just as impressed.

We are regular takeaway customers of Jack Spice. If you want great tasting food, superb customer service and good variety then Jack Spice is for you.

Since we moved to Swindon this has been our favourite place for a curry, we usually order it as takeaway and can't fault it at all. Love that you can build points as well to use towards items on your order!

After waiting 45 minutes for food, completely normal. Hair to be found in 3 items on the menu. They said they would substitute one item. We had hardly even touched our meal and paid for the full price. For a venue that no longer has an alcohol license. The staff were nice. NOT GOOD FOOD. Only soft drink choices

Diabolical service, have read many complaints about waiting over 1.5 hours and over 2 hours from others, they lied on the phone every time we called, will never use them again.

This was my first time ordering a collection takeaway from Jack Spice, although my Partner has before and assured me that they were good.My initial reaction to their menu was that it seemed rather expensive but the old adage of "You Pay For What You Get" rings true here...The food was of high quality, quite generous portions and my request for my dishes to be made extra spicy with plenty of fresh chilli was certainly responded to with vigour - Good stuff, Jack Spice! We live in North Swindon, so it's a little bit of a trek to get there and the parking is a bit of a nightmare for a collection but the staff were friendly, welcoming and gave the impression that they really appreciated you being with them.The only trouble with somewhere like Jack Spice is that they are so good that you don't want to try anywhere else!

Having used the take away service for many years, I eventually managed to get to eat in and it was as good as I thought so glad we came. The service was as great as the food, looking forward to our next visit or take away.

I went in here on my own when in Swindon for work. It was a Thursday night and I was the only person dining in there. The service was great, really friendly and helpful. They didn’t have a license to serve alcohol, but they do offer free corkage if you bring your own. The food was really good. It was all freshly cooked and served piping hot. The onion bhajees were really nice and crispy and the portion sizes just right. The jalfrezi had a nice kick to it, but the heat wasn’t overpowering. The only reason I went for 4 stars rather than 5 was that the decor is looking a bit tired. The waiter told me they were under new management, so hopefully that is something they’ll look to improve on.

This place has been my go to Indian takeaway for ages..... out of my last 3 orders 2 have been over 2 hours wait with no real explanation despite me calling and the food has been cold on arrival. They aren’t interested when you call. I wouldn’t order from here again!!

We visited jack spice last night and the whole experience was shocking!We choose our seats ourselves as we were not shown to a table we asked for three beers and the reply i got was that they had no alcohol in the place!On my way back out to walk in swindon town centre to find us some drinks i told the others to place my order i was gone at least 15 mins when i returned they had not even been asked if the wanted anything at all.The waiter was constantly on the phone taking just eat orders and totally ignored us.we had to physically get up and walk over to him to ask if we could have some poppadoms he told us to hold on a minute as he answered his next call.Eventually some poppadoms arrived but without condiments when asked for them we were told he had forgotten to give them to us.we were the only people in the restaurant at the time!Again we had to ask to place our main order by this time we had already been in jack spice for an hour.The food was ok but i think we had gone past it by the time it arrived on our table!My advice is dont visit the restaurant they dont want to know!Better off using just eat you will get your food quicker!

I had ordered a collection by accident called and changed to delivery they said it’s fine , they called me back and said I can’t have a refund as my address is too far. I asked for a refund at 630 . It is now 8.22 and we have not had any contact regarding my refund. (I know the receipt says cash but I called and paid by card). I was robbed over 100£ from an evil curry house.

Food was late and cold, they apologised so we ordered next weekend! Food was cold tasteless and took 2:5 hours to be delivered on the second occasion, extremely disappointing.

My experience eating at this Indian restaurant was not how I imagined it would be . Don’t get me wrong food was not bad, but the way the bold owner give the nice, friendly waiter a hard time, the waiter told the driver to take 1 Diet Coke and 1 full fat coke, they then received a call from the customer saying one drink missing , the bald guy started shouting at him, it was not very nice. On top of all of that I left a £5 for the waiter for making me feel welcome and caring for my every need. The owner then takes the £5 whilst the waiter is doing his card machine. And puts it in the till, I didn’t give the owner a tip I gave the waiter a tip. Very appalled and will not be going back

Friendly staff, cracking food. Recent change to bring your own beer but that does not put a dampener on the experience. If local, no other option. If from out of town, should be on the top of the list for places to try

The food was beautiful and the service has been first class quality, time after time. Amazing meal deal value for money, a d the quality is 5*. The chicken was tender, the korma sauce was delicious, and the onion bhajis are the best I’ve ever tasted, the rice wasn’t stodgy and they garlic naans are sublime., We’ve had from Jack Spice, goodness knows how many times as a family, and the quality has always been consistent. It’s taken 5 years living in Swindon to find the perfect Indian take away, now we won’t go anywhere else. First class service, 5* food, don’t go anywhere else.

Great place to go for an excellent meal, great choice of food and an enjoyable atmosphere, the only reason that I did not give it five stars is because they are still waiting for their liquor license to be re issued.

Went here tonight. Table of 11 of us. On arrival we were told they had no liquor license so no problem went to get some from local Londis!

Food didn't arrive (had to cancel the order eventually). I place an order at 8:30 and after 1 hour the food hadn't arrived. I contacted the restaurant and was informed that the delivery man had left with my food and it will be with me in another 15 mins. After another 40 mins (22:10), I called to cancel my order and the person I spoke with became very rude, angry and aggressive towards me because I wanted to cancel my order.

On top of waiting 2 hrs from placing the order, the order arrived half an hour later than scheduled with no updates provided. neither myself or JE were able to get through to the restaurant and a flippant excuse was provided when the delivery was made. when we checked the order, a dish was missing and the food was luke warm. Their customer service is appalling. I don’t understand why I should be inconvenienced because this restaurant is unable to manage their orders effectively. Not even offered a resolution or a good will gesture to try and appease the situation. oh but they’ll refund the missing dish - how kind?

Was sent a Keemar Naan instead of a Keemar Rice. One curry didn’t have any spice and another was too hot to eat.

We normally have exceptional food from Jack Spice but our take away last night was awful. The meat was extremely dry, the rice cold and stuck together - essentially all elements were awful. Really put us off ordering again.

I have not visited Jack Spice for some time. They don't have a licence so you have to bring your own booze (That was in December).I had a prawn jalfrezi and it was really good. Service was also spot on.

the chicken tikka mahani (with cheese) the chicken pieces was ROCK SOLID. if I tried to bite into it would of broken my teeth. ordered mint sauce , got x3 cucumber riata. not happy at all, Normally l leave brilliant reviews for this shop.

Earlier than expected but not complaining as I pre-ordered and food was lush!!

Horrible taste with food color used in curry. Chicken was uncooked. No where near authentic indian/Pakistani/Bangladesh food. Not recommended at all.

Lamb was tough , the curries sauce tasted microwaved and lumpy , just seemed rushed and chucked together rather then made fresh .

Lovely food, good deal and value for money on set dinner for two, preferred what they had to offer rather than others, first time trying jack spice, but will order again and again if we keep up the performance 😁
