Went to the rooftop cafe as seemingly one of the few places open in Whitehaven on a Monday. Only had a coffee which was adequate - not the best in town but did the job. Struggled to find a seat that wasn’t pitted black with dirty which was very off putting. Also witnessed a waitress coughing on peoples food as she carried it to them. Will not be returning

I used to regularly visit Dixons Rooftop Cafe when I was younger and decided to go back after several years. Pleased to say the meals are of a decent standard, the prices are fair( most meals costing £9-12) and you can still eat outside if the weather is nice. Service is good, the staff seem to know the regulars and the tables are cleaned regularly, with hand sanitiser on the entrance and exit to the cafe. Although it was out of order when I visited Dixons, there is a lift. Note, Dixons Rooftop Cafe doesnt' offer table service, you need to get a table number and order at the till, which can lead to long queues if the cafe is busy. Otherwise nice to see the standards have been maintained over the years and the cafe is still popular

Lovely food sold here I will come back here no problem at all but try something else off the menu staff very nice the tables were all clean no mess anywhere on the floor

A really lovely cooked breakfast in very nice, clean surroundings. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the cafe and toilets are very clean. Excellent!

Avoid an absolute shambles, 30 mins on a Monday to place an order for drinks 40 mins after for food. Waitresses running round like headless chickens with 30 to 40 people sat there. Embarrassing they can't run a cafe during minor covid regulations

Went to the rooftop cafe in this department store and was impressed by the menu and prices. The cakes weren't many and appeared too have been there a while, but we put this down to being busy rather than anything else. We were given an opportunity to go out to the rooftop, but the weather was so good that, without any cover outside, it was just too bright to take advantage of. This isn't a complaint, the terrace was great, it could have just benefitted from some table parasols or something to be able to enjoy it properly. Came back in and had Afternoon Tea. At 8.95 per head it was a good spread with big portions and whilst a little tired was tasty and filling. We had however arranged with the waitress to take some of the food home in a doggy bag, but when the time came, as we were all table service for COVID, with the waiting staff all busy chatting amongst themselves, I raised my hand and called 'Excuse Me'. I feel I was polite and appropriate in my gesture, but to my horror, a young waitress broke from her conversation, looked at me as if I was dirt, and in a disdainful and completely inappropriate tone simply yelled "Yea". I was so annoyed that if we hadn't have paid at the start I would not have paid at the end, and if this is the standard of disrespectful attitude that is to be expected, I will certainly not be back in the cafe and will think twice about the store. One staff member spoiled it for the whole team, but I don't care how good the spread is, if the attitude stinks then the whole visit is soured because of it.

Awful bacon sandwich, the bacon was extremely salty and fatty, worst bacon buttie I've ever had. A human hair on the table left me feeling sick and lots of people ignoring one way system around the cafe. I won't be back again.

Good attention to Covid protection & ample space between the tables. Very quick polite table service. I had an excellent cooked breakfast & my wife had cheese on toast, both were great. Was also very good value, this is a great venue for breakfast / brunch.

Paid a visit for breakfast whilst we were in the area. Lovely staff, very professional and adhering to covid 19 regulations. Felt very safe, we ordered two standard breakfasts with coffee. It came freshly made hot and tasty with toast. The staff were attentive and polite we will be back

certainly not homemade red velvet cake dry server very regimental go and pay while i make your drinks you can only sit in the middle as we are cleaning it takes 2 hours to clean and we close @5-00pm this was 3-45 pm wont be back

The cafe offers a delicious selection of light home made meals. The meat and potato pie is excellent and the selection of cakes is always very tempting. The staff are pleasant and helpful.

Had some sponge cake that looked nice, but tasted cheap. The coffee was average. The seats and tables seemed ok, but the lounge type part, with chairs and sofa, were dirty, in desperate need of a clean. The table wasn't clean either. Not impressed with staff either

Just ordered lunch and haven't been here for age's. I didn't realise I had to collect cutlery, napkins etc and she could see that I didn't have any when my meal came out but just put the meal on the table and walked away. Oh well I should be grateful they brought the meal to the table.

Visiting the area and called into cafe top floor after Christmas shopping in the Dixon store, free wrapping service all presents bought an excellent bonus. We decided to share an afternoon tea after seeing people eating theirs. We opted for chicken sandwiches, quiche, fruit scone with Jam and cream and coffee and walnut sponge. Excellent, we added a potion of chips and an extra coffee. The afternoon tea was under £9 and more than enough to share. The ordering was a little complicated as you had to pay first then go and choose your items. Very clean cafe, well priced and well worth a visit.

Situated on the top floor of the lovely Dixons Dept Store. This is a great little cafe with a good range of foods. Good breakfast menu. I had cheese scone, a little disappointing as it was sweet and had very little taste of cheese.

This restaurant/cafe is on the top floor of Dixon's department store in the middle of town. Thus, it is easily missed as you don't see it from the street.A lift makes for easy access.Decor is fresh & it's a pleasant place to sit.Staff are accommodating.We've visited twice recently, once for breakfast & once for afternoon tea.Both were freshly prepared with good quality ingredients and were very tasty.Prices are very reasonable - good value for money.

Located on the top floor of Dixons Department store. Really nice cafe. The food is lovely (home cooked, wholesome and fresh) and the staff are friendly and welcoming. It's feel good food and when I was in they had, corned beef hash on, as a special, which was gorgeous.

Really delicious food. We had a quiche and my daughter had eggs and chips. Simple but done perfectly and really affordable. Served with lovely salad and coleslaw, will definitely be back.

Best breakfast in Whitehaven. Freshly cooked with local sausage and black pudding. Always friendly helpful staff who can't do enough for you. Lift to the top is always welcome for tired legs.

A lovely spacious, airy and welcoming place. Food freshly prepared and totally delicious. Plenty to browse at in the store as you make your way to the cafe.

I really like this cafe. The 'system' at the till is a bit confusing unless you know. Nice snacks and modern. However why advertise milkshake if you don't do the SHAKE! Pouring some crushed strawberries into flat mildly cold milk just isn't a milkshake. Tasted chalky and powdery. Yuck!

I’ve had coffee here a few times great for quick snacks there is lift for anyone with disabilities it’s open very day

Fuimos a la cafetería de la azotea esta mañana para el desayuno. Normalmente es encantador, que es la razón por la que fuimos de nuevo. Yo estaba de camino a través de mi desayuno cuando me encontré un pelo en mis huevos. Llevé a la barra y esperó a la gente detrás del mostrador para terminar su conversación para que yo pudiera decir algo. He dicho sobre el pelo y ella dijo 'ah, lo siento, no quieres algo más? (No) me dijeron que no genuino que tenía me pusieron justo al lado y ella simplemente dijo "Oh bien" y entramos en la cocina. No hay oferta de un reembolso que me estaba estupefacto. Nuestra mesa no desconocer aunque sólo había 2 mesas en el restaurante y el personal tenía un montón de tiempo para charlar. Realmente decepcionado con el servicio en general.

Sí, una vez más hemos tenido un excelente desayuno, pero ese no es el motivo de este comentario.

The best full English breakfast in Whitehaven. Same price as the supermarkets but so much better quality. Cumberland sausages with free range eggs freshly cocked makes all the difference.

Plenty of choice on the menu & the cakes are freshly baked & delicious. You get served quickly & the staff are always friendly & helpful.

Visited for a Lunch in between Xmas and New Year. As ever good food, prepared and served really quickly for a reasonable price.

No suele quejarse, pero no empresas locales muy satisfechos con el servicio y la comida de hoy! (7 de enero de 2017 15:00) Se dijo que mover mesas dos veces, (ellos) debido a groseramente supuestamente conseguir piso limpiaban, pero el personal quedó y nos sentamos para la 45 minutos charlando estábamos en comer. La comida era mala, ordenados salchichas cálido y cebolla vino con cebolla baguettes, cruda, y la baguette era fría, y también pasada debido a la cantidad de agua en el plato de la ensalada. (En los cuatro ensaladas) vinagre bolsita contenía algo viscosa. . . Sospecho que no cambiar todos ellos a menudo, algunos probablemente no acostumbrarse durante varios meses. Había restos de comida en todo el piso. Los cables sueltos colgando desde el techo. Algunos empleados eran miserables. Wi-fi, generalmente la norma Wi-fi en estos días. La comida es demasiado cara. Probablemente la próxima vez ir a Mcdonalds. No volveremos prisa!

Aclarar que he escrito una crítica entusiasta para los desayunos, son excelentes y he tenido unas cuantas.

Very nice place for a spot of lunch, wide ranging menu and very nicely decorated inside. Never somewhere I would normally think about going but glad I did.

Decent food in pleasant surroundings good price and pleasant atmosphere. Choice was good for lunch time and staff were really friendly

Once again, after the torture of exercise (walk around the harbour), I discover the rooftop cafe, located on the top floor of a local department store. A Pleasant light an airy environment, with comfortable seating and a good menu, one can have a snack or a full meal at resonable prices. Where the bacon bap comes with sides of, rice, slaw and pasta!

Lovely lunch here. Sometimes you have to wait a while but it's nice when it arrives. Good value for money and would go back

We recently went here for lunch, on arrival it didn't look to busy so sat and had a look at the menu the place in nicely refurbished to a modern taste which is lovely we ordered our food n waited n waited n waited thought it took quite along time for our food considering it wasn't that busy I don't like to complain but I mention to one of the young girls that we waited a bit n she just replied 'yeah it'll be cumin' the the same girl came to give us our food n just plonked it down without a word just a funny look the kids food looked nice n ours was ok!

We call in here about once a month for breakfast and it is always 100% spot on.Proper bacon and sausage and everything else cooked perfectly, a good plate full.Tea is served in a pot and you can squeeze at least a couple of cup fulls each out of it.The café itself is modern, very clean and the staff are excellent, would not eat breakfast anywhere else.

Waited far too long for what was not worth waiting for. Portion of pie not much bigger than a large stamp, tinned peas and gravy all over handle of jug.

We regularly visit the cafe for coffee it is very pleasant the staff are lovely all the scones and cakes are very fresh . The meals or ok but nothing special but if you are just wanting a coffee and a snack it is lovely . The cafe itself is very airy and bright ! Everything is very reasonable price and has a lovely children's food section

i only came across this coffee shop after getting a voucher in a newspaper for a free coffee, but what a gem. The coffee is large and delicious and only £1.20 in a large mug! The bacon sandwiches are a must especially before 11am (dearer after that as have a big salad with them) the bacon is excellant quality, very little fat and lots of tasty meat) staff are friendly and quick too

This place is really good value. Great for a luch stop which will not break the bank. The food is tasty and uncomplicated.

Called in today for lunch with my partner and two children. Very quiet considering it was lunchtime on xmas eve! I should have took it as an omen really. Sat down, looked at the menu and decided to get 2 brunches, cheese & tomato toastie, and my youngest had a burger. Including tea, coffee and 2 soft drinks came to £22. We waited 25 minutes for our food, chips on the brunch were anaemic, my cheese toastie came with a rice salad accompaniment? But the star of the show was my sons deep fried burger! I think it had been in the fryer for the whole 25 minutes we were waiting! Served on a dry bun it was completely inedible. I took it off the plate to take it back, leaving my son to eat his chips and beans. "What's wrong with it? ", I was asked accusingly by one of the staff..I then tapped it on the worktop and asked if she would eat it? Erm no....Waited another 10 minutes for a fresh plate of food to be brought out, no apology or refund offered. Shame because it could be such a nice place if they just stopped deep frying everything!

My partner and I called in to the cafe for lunch, very busy but we found a clean table and sat down. The menu is quite basic, but they always have homemade pies/ soups and quiches on the special board. Its a strange ordering system, there's a counter where the food and drinks are prepared and across the way there's a till. I was told by a 'regular'? that I needed to order at the till and then come back for my food.. So I went to the till and the lovely lady took my order of 2 soups and tea for 2. She then had to shout across to the other side that one of the soups had now all gone. I paid, got my cutlery and order number, then had to queue back on the other side to collect my hot drinks , There surely must be an easier way? The soup (lentil and bacon, and leek and potato) was served quickly and tasted lovely, if a little over seasoned with salt. Would have given top marks if it wasn't for the strange ordering system.

Whilst there isn't the widest range in the world, what they do serve is good home cooked food at a reasonable price. They do a soup, pie and several quiches of the day. I had the quiche with salad and cops and enjoyed it.The children's pick and mix with a sandwich and drink went beyond your usual old grapes, with a wide range of things like Party Rings and Wispas - definitely a hit with my two.There was the added bonus of the free Wi-Fi I used to submit this review. We'd definitely come again.

Overall, the restaurant looks amazing. There's a wide variety of seating options to diner tables to cushion chairs. The place looks nice.Customer service is bad. Putting bluntly, I went to the counter and two ladies behind the desk ignored me and continued to chat about their usual day. Where they on their break? I wanted to be served. The worst part was when she raised her tone of voice and told me to order my food at the cash register. Her tone of voice was unpleasant and as a result I may not return. I believe they lack customer service experience and as a retail business, you need to be friendly to your customers to make their time enjoyable. The food is excellent, no complaints on that. Lovely variety of fresh cakes & scones. Sandwiches made to order & never a long wait. Staff always very helpful & pleasant so I keep returning.

Decided to go on son' s say so, great choice, we've ate here a few times now and it just gets better! Myself n my mam both had quiche side salad n chips both was lovely presented n salad always fresh, always like the extra rice n pasta too with salad, my son had fish fingers chips n beans ate every thing so let him have the ginger bread for dessert which he loved the service was a lot faster too than it use to be when first opened back up after refurb, price for all was very reasonable too! Happy customers

The service in this store is second to none. Plus I got a good dicount on furniture I wanted to buy. It ended up being the cheapest in Town, but the best quality. Highly recommended.

A lovely place to eat. It is spacious and light and has an outside terrace in nice weather. The service was excellent and I will definitely eat here regularly from now on.

This was my first visit since the recent refurbishment of the Rooftop Café. What a transformation! Lovely décor and good choice of food at lunch time, all competitively priced. This is one of my favourite places to visit in Whitehaven. There was a little wait for a sandwich to be made, but it was made to order and was fresh and tasty. The toilets on the top floor have also been refurbished and were spotlessly clean.
