Went for Sunday dinner. Seemed a large portion.i noticed some one else plate I don’t have a big appetite then realised the plates are on the small side. The cauliflower had no taste watery gravy also tasteless. Broccoli over cooked. Few peas. The veg must of been microwaved as Luke warm with hot spot in middle A couple of roast potatoes a lovely Yorkshire pudding. And warm plates. I actually was still hungry. ! The meat was lovely. Lamb but such a small slice my partner gave his beef to the dog as it was red in places. . Definitely would not go back there to eat such a shame the last manager did a lovely Sunday lunch 2 stars are for the Yorkshire pudding.

The food was cold and we didn’t receive two dinners so I don’t recommend going roast potatoes where rock solid and the Carrots were soggy and the Yorkshire puddings where not homemade like they said food came two hours after we ordered

Absolute waste of an establishment. Fired staff due to them asking FOR THEIR WAGES. Shutting up early on a Sunday to avoid their confrontation of that situation and blocking anyone who tries to say otherwise. Small claims court is going to have a field day. Watch your windows babe. Might need to replace them soon. 🥰

So, it's Sunday in the summer holidays the weather is fantastic and all the pubs in walking distance that serve food are rammed but not the Ivanhoe, why ? First impressions when you're parting with your hard earned means a lot so when your greeted by dirty outdoor and inside tables that clearly haven't been cleaned for ages the warning bells start ringing. The atmosphere was like a four day old pint and had a really negative feel to it. Sandwich boards outside advertised "Sunday dinner " but no aroma of food or cooking were anywhere to be found. There seemed to be an issue with a veg delivery but having read the newest reviews that seems the least of the Managers issues. Unfortunately this establishment is doomed and deserves far better custodians and with some care and attention to the basics would undoubtedly be a success due to its location . No doubt there'll be yet another " Under New Management " sign up soon.

Was pleased to see it was under new management recently so being local I thought I would give it a try. It would appear that this place is doomed by successive poor management on entering the establishment and let's face it first impressions count it was soul less the bar man was obviously new and was unsure where things were kept. He was polite enough. Then a women appeared behind the bar having a rant about nothing had been prepared by the chefs on Sunday so no food would be available until 2pm she made it very clear she would have to do the banking I had gone in to relax but ended up feeling very stressed if there had been a bit if background music on it might of been better. The final straw for me was witnessing her vaping behind the bar just gives the wrong impressions. What a shame it used to be a family friendly establishment it now resembles a cleaning cupboard with various cleaning products on display by the kitchen

I had chicken burger chips salad my husband had beef burger plus we had 2 coffees. You got your own coffee, hardly any clean cups available, coffee tepid, not very good, 40 min wait for food, barms cheap looking and were tastless, beef burgers, thin cheap looking not much flavour , chips under-cooked. Very disapointed. New manager needs to look at the quality of the foo provided plus replace menues very hard to read.

I can't praise or thank Kerrie and Tracy in this hotel enough, they have gone above and beyond to sort things out for us. Would highly recommend you stay with them as they will take good care of you. And the Sunday lunch is to die for, I will be back soon.

Walked into this place on a red hot Monday afternoon , as it was on the way walking back from Scarborough to our camp site. Drinks reasonably priced and super friendly service. Actually gave us a free ice cream for our son. Owner explained she’d only taken over the pub a couple of weeks ago. With a friendly welcome and a decent location what’s not to like, go on give this place some trade.

Staff were very friendly throughout our stay however that’s the only positive. Our room was clean and well aired but the furniture was very tired looking, no doors on wardrobe and no light shade over the bathroom light leaving it vulnerable due to moisture. The stairs leading to our room hadn’t been hoovered for a very long time, looked very old and dirty. Went down for breakfast , the staff member said that she was on her own as the chef hadn’t turned in. She was cook cleaner and chief bottle washer , run ragged. The breakfast was okay but the toast machine was broken. Over all it was a very expensive experience at £100 a night, not good value for money.

Last week we had a bad experience here. The manager invited us back for a free meal, and there was nothing to complain about at all. The food was great. We offered to pay because it was so nice and we couldn't fault it, but she wouldn't let us. The manager wasn't here last week, and the service was not as good as it normally is. We will most definitely be back. Thank you so much, we really appreciate your hospitality.

Great hospitality, great location, great potential :) My son and I stayed for a night after an event at the Open Air Theatre on 7 July. Whilst it's clearly a venue in transition (new landlady that week), we were extended a very warm welcome when we arrived after travelling from the North West. We were looking to eat on arrival but were told the kitchen had closed early, so were automatically given a complimentary drink. Shortly after, the landlady came to check us in, show us to our room and talk us through the facilities. When she learned we'd travelled and were hoping for food before the gig, she was determined to ensure we were sorted rather than pay event prices, so cooked even though the kitchen was closed. The place itself is a 10-15 minute walk to the Open Air Theatre, which was perfect to get to and from the event. It's also very easy to find, got a good amount of free residential parking and is in a really good location - as we found out the next morning after a short meander down to the North Bay. The family room (double and single bed) was clean and tidy and the bedding and linen was brand new and immaculately clean. The beds were super comfy and I'd have slept like a dream if it hadn't been for the (unexpected!) sunshine streaming through the coast-facing window in the morning! Plenty of options available for breakfast - fruit, yoghurt, cereal, cooked. Cooked brekkie had everything you could want (bacon, sausage, egg, beans, tomato, mushroom, hash brown, black pudding), was efficiently served, and very tasty - just wish I could have finished it all! It's clearly a venue in transition at the moment, so isn't perfect right now, but with a few tweaks and easy updates - such as a refresh or upgrade of the en-suite facility, new carpet in the communal accommodation corridors, and some minor details in the rooms (providing coat hangers in the wardrobe or hooks on the backs of doors, litter bins and realigning power points/kettles/mirrors, etc), could easily be a really classy destination and one I'd return to time and time again :)

A family of 4 ppl had a weekend stay over in the hotel. To be honest, the facilties and environment are just basic, but it was reflected on its price and ranking. Fair enough. The staff (seems to be the owners of this hotel) is nice and helpful. A large car park served both the pub and hotel so that you dont have to worry about parking. I have booked a family room with 3 beds. The room is clean with reasonable wifi speed and some usb plugs for charging. However, I didnt find a table in the room such that I was unable to have my business on the laptop. I noticed that there were some adverse comments regarding the food serving in the pub, hope it will be fixed in the future. Overall, it was a good experience for my family vacation.

Called in a few months ago, then called in again last week. I actually think that the same dirt on the floor, and grubby tables was there them months ago. The owners need to clean this place before thinking of serving food. Please get the basics right first. Sorry but we won't be giving it a third chance. Could be a gold mine in the right hands, especially in that area if managed well and kept clean.

Just awful from the start. Upon entering the bar the first thing we noticed was the smell of stale ale and the very dirty bar runners, it was 12 o'clock and we ordered two Sunday roast beef dinners and waited and waited and waited we finished our drinks and were still waiting for our meals. We were the only people in the bar apart from the 4 people who the bar staff wanted to sit with. At last the food arrived and what a disaster beyond belief I can honestly say I have never eaten food as bad anywhere, dried out vegetables old dried out roast potatoes and the worst beef I have ever had to be honest we were given two plates of fat. We sent back the uncooked Yorkshire puddings (how can you get Yorkshire puddings wrong) only to be told by the girl that the chef thought they were uncooked when he sent them out to us, you couldn't make that up. And then my partner went to the toilet, omg!!! it was so filthy she had to come straight out, her comment was that she had been to cleaner toilets at a car boot sale, this made me laugh. Well all I can say is this was an experience never to be repeated. Never to return.

After waiting over an hour, I called the store and was placed on hold for several minutes. When I finally spoke to someone, I was told my order had left "some time ago" but that the driver was struggling to find my address. When the food arrived, the bag had no heat or steam, and upon opening the items, they were barely warm. I immediately informed the driver that I was unhappy with the temperature. I called the store again and spoke to a lady who initially seemed helpful. However, when I questioned the inconsistency in the timelines provided by different staff members, she became dismissive. She claimed to had prepared and sent the order herself, yet the app showed it had been packed over 20 minutes before delivery. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, she simply said “sorry” and offered no resolution. After I stated that I would not be ordering again, she responded with “that’s fine” and abruptly wentto end the call. When I requested to speak to a manager, she claimed to be the manager but refused to provide her name before hanging up. I then attempted to call back multiple times over the next 40 minutes, but my calls were ignored. This level of customer service is unacceptable. If this is how complaints are handled, it is no surprise that customers choose to take there buisness elsewhere.

Could be a nice little pub however the main reasons it's awful is the rudeness of the female bar staff. It's a 50/50 chance if you get a welcoming what can I get you? or a hostile what do you want! Toilets are very unpleasant and technically outside so cold. Have been in 3 times now and terrible experience every time. Such a shame as it does have some great qualities. Try the Buck Inn or Little Angel for a far superior social.
