Cannot belive what constitutes a regular portion of chips now, practically like a carnival cone and for 3 pounds 30 or whatever is that's daylight robbery

Oh dear. Always been pleased with the Islander but not tonight. 2 Chicken and Mushroom pies were hard and dry as if they'd been kept warm for a few days. And the chips had a strange taste. Had a feeling it would come back to bite us and it has!! Come on Islander, this is not like you.

Zoe was a brilliant waitress. Very welcoming and friendly. Good food and very good value. Highly recommended.

Faultless. Spotlessly clean, friendly service, freshly cooked lovely food, good selection, really hot decent cup of tea - always essential😅, nice table and cutlery. This was the first time l had been there but certainly not the last. Little local eatery gem on Canvey Island with parking nearby!!!

Stopped on a Saturday for a late afternoon lunch snack. The restaurant was empty but you can only have a seat if you pay the 'dine-in' prices. Takeaway menu prices are different, assuming the delivery prices would be different too. The food was food, hot and delicious. The Jalapeno balls aren't great and a little pricey at around £5 for 6 balls. I would like to try the fish, but didn't get a chance, busy afternoon for myself. Parking nearby is free on weekends. Nice high street too. I didn't find any other chippy on the street. Note: toilets are for 'dine-in' customers only. Takeaway prices are standard.

Just had a lovely lunch had a little wait but think that because it was all cooked fresh had the grilled skate wing with new potatoes really special other half had cod and chips best he had in a while not greasy at all can’t wait to visit Canvey again soon know where we will be going for lunch

Mum and I had our lunch here today. Mum used to come regularly years ago and have their senior meal deal. She had this today and I had steak pie and chips. All was cooked to order and very fresh. No grease in sight! Lovely meal and the staff was very friendly. We would very much recommend this little gem.

Visited today 12th Feb for lunch . THE FISH AND CHIPS IS THE BEST ON THE ISLAND THE FOOD WAS GOOD QUALITY ,HOT AND PRESENTED NICELY. THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICES ESPECIALLY ZOE WHO SERVED US . A LITTLE 💎 GEM OF A PLACE .The restaurant has a nice decor 👌 spotless .

I had the islanders mixed grill. Really enjoyed it and it filled the gap. Zoe the waitress was very polite and I had good service from herself. The atmosphere was nice it was lunchtime and was indeed a pleasant lunch. Thank you.

It has definitely improved since the last I was here. The staff are also really friendly and the food as well is good.

Thought we would try The Islander as we had heard it was good and worth the higher price compared to other fish shops in the area. We were extremely disappointed. Both pieces of haddock were mushy along one half of the fish. So we paid for large fish but were only able to eat about the size of a small piece. Also the chips contained several blackened hard chips, which looked like they had probably been in the fryer for most of the day. I don't mind paying for quality, but this was far from it, and terrible value for money. We won't be going back.

There are fish and chips them there’s the islanders on Canvey island. Best sea bass you will get anywhere in the UK. And that’s a statement. Outstanding service and quality of food is just incredible Love it love it love it

Went into the restaurant this evening and had a lovely grilled fish with parsley butter sauce on top. The customer service was brilliant and the staff were very friendly. Definitely recommend.

Saturday night, fish and chips, mmmmm 7.30 I'm walking to my nearest fish and chips shop. I'm next to bed served, just gone 8. pm. I order Large Cod and chips, please! Sorry we only have what's cooked, chicken or battered sausage and we're not cooking anymore. Last time I come here. What sort of fish and chips shop is this in England on a Saturday night.

Wow wow wow. Since I’ve been on Canvey, I’ve found the food to not be good. I’m dead serious then…I came across this place, the girls are absolutely and friendly. The food is also cooked fresh. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed.

Freshly made food and more importantly shop is really clean. Staff are really friendly and helpful.

Today was the first time I've ordered from here through Just Eat and certainly won't be the last! The food was cooked to perfection, with big portions and arrived, hot and way before expected delivery. Very pleased thankyou

As usual the food was plentiful and well cooked.The staff friendly and efficient. Prices have risen recently but no more than you would expect with inflation as it is today. Recently refurbished, the seating is comfortable. and stylish. Hygiene is excellent and the location very central. All in all the best **Chippy* in town

We had fish and chips delivered and it was excellent. We were sceptical as didn't want soggy fish and chips but it was as delicious as going yourself. We ordered through the restaurant not just eat. We opted for no vinegar or salt to be put on it, adding it at home to give it a fighting chance. No complaints, absolutely crispy and delicious

A really lovely restaurant to eat in or take away. Great menu choice but the fish and chips are the star of the show, freshly cooked and traditionally made. Give The Islander a go if you visit Canvey 👍

First time we have tried the delivery service. Well worth the money. Cod arrived piping hot and crispy. Amazing chips. Highly recommended. Added our own salt and vinegar to keep it crispy. Order direct through the restaurant! Came within 25 mins and too hot to touch.

We'll I must say I am most impressed by Islanders Fish Restaurant. We order regularly through Just Eat from the Islanders. Always for delivery. Today I made a mistake and clicked for collection. Whilst I was trying to find phone number for Islanders they actually phoned me and said they knew I usually had it delivered and wanted to check I meant for collection. I explained it was an error so they will be delivering as usual. On top of that we always thoroughly enjoy our dinner from them it is always hot and tasty. Now that's what I call good customer service. *****

come in around an hour after they opened and got served, wasn’t really any interaction with me they was talking to another person majority of the time apart from when i had to pay, then had to wait 15-20 minutes for a small chips and saveloy not to mention it was more or less empty in there apart from me and another women, then when it was wrapped up she dropped my saveloy onto the side infront of the till and proceeded to serve me that, as i suffer with anxiety wasn’t very confident to say anything but ended up having to throw the saveloy as i am very conscious over my health, not good at all!

We bought takeaway cod and chips from here, yesterday and it was perfect!

In centre of town shopping area . Parking opposite in supermarket. Friendly staff who wanted to make a good experience. We had 1/4 breast of chicken & chips with side salad . Good value and tasted lovely. Went again April 2023 Another good experience. Fish & chips lovely best had in a very long time. Good portions .. Staff again friendly and caring about your experience. Got to be A+ Recommended

My Son and partner came for Easter, we were recommended to try there meals. after a day out on Good Friday we had already booked to be sure of getting a seat as always busy. We arrived at 5pm and were welcomed with a smiling waitress who show us to our table. We ordered our drinks which were swiftly brought to our table. Looking at the menu at the mouth-watering meals, my son chose good old fish and chips Lou his partner ordered half chicken and chips, i ordered grilled plaice and chips with mushy peas. All meals were freshly cooked and brought to our table by the happy smiling waitress. The food was excellently presented and nothing was to much trouble. We all enjoyed our meals that were freshly cooked and very tasty. Thank you for your team effort. Will return soon

OMG the food was fantastic, the service amazing...well worth the 30min drive! Plans already made to go back... We had seafood basket and cod and chips. Everything was hot, crispy, salad was fresh, portion sizes on point.

Best fish and chips I have ever had!

An excellent chippy. We really enjoy a visit here. The freshly cooked food is always of a high standard. I hate greasy batter and theirs never is. I highly recommend whether sitting down to eat of having a takeaway.

Best fish and chip restaurant for miles around. Also lots of other options on the menu. Everything is freshly cooked and served with a smile. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and the staff go out of their way to provide an excellent service. We eat here regularly and every time is excellent.

Sat in. Best piece of Cod I've had in a long time, Chips and the rest of the meal were really good aswell. Staff were really helpful also.

Asked for chips in a roll, Stale Chips have been cooked for a while. And then refried. Couldnt eat them! Thought i would eat the roll anyway. But it was not there! It was 2.oo and the place was empty. Not a customer in site! The food has gone down hill since new people have taken over. They have much lower standereds than previous owners. Such a shame like a lot of other people we wont be going there again.

We had been here twice and had a fantastic meal and a great evening. Sadly we returned a few weeks ago and was turned away at 8pm and told we close at 9.30 !! How long does it take to eat fish and chips ? Even with all the trimmings. Sadly went back again Thursday, with the view if needed we could get take away. They close at 9.30 arrived at 8.35…. And closed. So that’s ya lot. No more ! If you continue like this you will go out of business. On the up side the restaurant next door has benefitted on more than one occasion.

The food was really nice and fresh

My husband and I went here and sat down at a 4 seater table. We was asked to move to a table for 2. I questioned why and she said the tables were for 4 people. There was 5 empty 4 seater tables in front of us. I looked behind me and saw approximately 5 or 6 tables which were 4 seaters. 2 of those tables had 2 people on one each table, I the said so why are they allowed to sit 2 on a 4 table and she just shrugged her shoulders. When we left all the seats were still available. So much for moving us for the so much needed tables. To fill the four seaters they needed 32 people which didn't appear. When you are spending £35 for a meal you should be able to sit where its more comfortable for you.

Fantastic fish and chips even a medium sized cod is big .If you bought a large cod and chips it would be enough for 2 people.

Grabbed two small cod and chips as a takeaway from islanders, a first time visit. The food was absolutely lovely. The portion size for the price was excellent value for money. Hard to find excellent fish and chips, but this was. Would recommend and visit again when in the area.

Lovely restaurant with fantastic tasting fish and chips. The staff are extremely friendly. I also saw they were serious about hygiene, they were wiping down tables and chairs regularly and kept the toilets in an immaculate condition. There was plenty of seating room. Would highly recommend.
