Island View Cafe in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Lovely tea and cake after a walk along the beach at at Hannafore at low tide. One of those places where you feel your shoulders relax and all your worries slip away as you watch the sea - one of my favourite places, even though I’m not “a regular”

Cream tea for two the best we've ever had! And we have had many!! We sat outside in the well kept grass area overlooking the sea, a perfect spot to drink in the scenery & people watch.

No trip to Looe is complete without a visit to the Island View Cafe. Crab sandwich and the BEST scones in Cornwall. Can’t wait for out next visit

Super friendly staff, delicious lunch and the perfect location. Love the fact that this cafe gives you extra hot water with the pots of tea; it’s the small gestures that make the biggest difference!

My dad and I always holiday in and around Looe and make sure we visit the Island View. Not only does it have glorious views across Hannafore Beach to Looe Island, the food is delicious (we had smashed avocado on toast and sausage and egg sandwich) and the welcome always friendly. The garden full of beautiful flowers and the pretty interior make this cafe a pleasure to visit. It’s dog friendly too. Highly recommend.

This unique cafe with its creative decor,hand crafted mosaic walls and tastefully chosen vintage china sets ,is an absolute delight! The staff are friendly and efficient and are clearly happy working here. The food is fresh, well presented and good value for money.I highly recommend the crab salad and the light,warm,succulent scones -the best I have ever had .

Stopped off here for lunch, service was friendly & fast, sandwiches were delicious. We sat outside & had a beautiful view of island. Definitely a short walk out of Looe for a spot of lunch.

Situated on the cliff road out of west Looe next to the tennis club, spectacular views over the sea from its large front lawn, v friendly staff, reasonable price, extensive menu, we ate excellent tea loaf and lemon cake with v tasty coffee. We would recommend and revisit this cafe.

What a find though technically a recommendation from my father. This place was excellent, from service to food to the incredible view. An absolute must if you are planning to visit Looe. A simple menu of sandwiches, wraps, paninis and cakes but done superbly well. Very tasty. We will definitely visit again if we come back to Looe.

Fantastic little cafe with the most amazing views. Good food, tea served in China pots and cups. Staff are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Dog friendly too. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Just had delicious lunch here on our Way to Talland Bay Hotel. Was so impressed with the friendliness, food and how well they are implementing Covid safety. Apart from the amazing prawn and crab sandwiches all very fresh I particularly liked the way everything is compostable when you have finished (apart from cans and bottles of course). Very impressed and would highly recommend. The views are also amazing and the parking was easy.

Visited on Saturday. Food was amazing- we ordered the beetroot, lentil and feta salad and the hot dog from the specials board. My husband said it was the best hot dog he’d ever had! Very stringent Covid measures in place. We will definitely visit next time we’re in Looe.

We tried to book a table for 5 for lunch but were told that reservations weren’t accepted but turn up and they’d look after us. They did just that. Really good Covid 19 safety procedures with clear instructions and a good process for ordering, collecting food and leaving. Lots of lunch choices of wraps, sandwiches, salads and panini sandwich. The bread is delicious and everything served with a colourful and tasty side salad. We’ll certainly be returning when next in Looe.

What a great find this was! Never usually journeyed this far down Marine Drive past Looe but so god we did! Beautiful gardens filled with picnic bench’s and a fantastic view of the sea. All social distanced properly and hand sanitizer to be used. A simple menu is done very well, proper size sandwiches using obviously decent ingredients. Great selection of cakes and ice creams inside. Owners and staff are all very friendly and helpful as anything. We’ll be back!

This will probably always get a 5 star from me as it’s a lovely location and has a nice variety of food. They cater for gluten free and dairy free well with a selection of decent cakes and also have the standard cream teas and wide variety of other cakes. The staff are friendly and if you’re looking for somewhere in the fresh air with pastel seaside colours it’s perfect. I’ve had a crab salad before which was good and I’ve seen photos of mackerel pate which is on my list for the next visit.

We decided to visit the cafe for a late lunch after walking along the coastal path at Looe. We were greeted and given clear instructions in line with COVID precautions so we felt safe and at ease. We had a table outside overlooking Looe island which was lovely despite the wind!! We ordered hummus with pitta bread, cheesy chips and a scone with clotted cream and jam for each of us (family of 4). After a 20ish minute wait our food arrived and it was delicious. Chips were fresh and had a generous amount of cheese, the pitta bread was warm, hummus tasty and the scones were warm, fresh and extremely yummy. They were served with a generous amount of clotted cream and jam. A lovely cafe which I would highly recommend to anyone in the Looe area.

Covid arrangements not withstanding we had to queue ages with just one guy being served at the counter in front of us. The cream teas had tasteless scones and minimum jam. Front of house lady was lovely but our tea was nearly finished by the time scones and cake arrived.

Nothing was too difficult for the staff at Island View Cafe. As well as being delicious food and an attractive setting, the owner did his utmost to accommodate my needs. I am disabled and the owner was prepared to give up his personal parking space to ensure that I didn't have too far to walk. We all felt very safe because of the covid precautions in place and when I said I would like to bring my dog, that was fine too. Give them your custom they deserve to do well.

Island View is always our first stop when we head to Cornwall, & we always aim to visit at least once more during our stay.A pretty cafe with beautiful views, and lovely, fresh reasonably priced food. Dog friendly too. The staff are friendly & accommodating, and on our most recent visits we felt safe with the Covid 19 procedures that were in place. Indoor seating is limited, especially with Covid 19 precautions, so the cafe is best enjoyed on a dry day. There is no car park, but we've always managed to park on the road outside. There are no on site toilets, but there are toilets across the road at Hannafore beach.

Called in for lunch with the family, lovely garden outside to sit in overlooking the sea. Had sandwiches which were generously filled and came with side salad. Milkshakes good too. Recommend.

Island View is a great place for lunch. It's spot round the coast from Looe means that it has the best view and reasonably quiet in comparison to Looe. A good range of food and drink and distancing is taken very seriously.

Visited with our seven year old daughter for an afternoon treat. Everything about Island View Cafe, the welcome you receive, the menu choices; the quality of the food, and beautiful views is excellent. The staff are lovely: superb COVID-precautions without making you feel awkward or uneasy - an attention to detail that is reflected in every aspect of this business. A perfect balance of quality, class and individuality, without becoming pretentious. We are looking forward to becoming regulars.

Excellent cafe with stunning views! We were staying just across the road and they even delivered our lovely crab salads to us. I also visited and had a Cream Tea which was lovely. The staff are very friendly and very good with their COVID guidelines. Definitely worth a visit.

I can only echo recent reviews of this lovely cafe/tea room on Hannafore Point overlooking Looe Island. The owners have taken the risks of Covid really seriously which is great to see. Having been greeted and sanitised at the entrance we were taken to an outside table that had been thoroughly cleaned between customers. Only one person from each table allowed inside to place your order and you must wear a mask to do so. Food is all freshly made and is delicious, great selection of cakes, sandwiches, Baguettes, panini’s etc. Small businesses such as this need to be applauded and supported, these are strange times and we all have to get used to the new rules that are there to keep us all safe. Well done Island view Cafe loved your food and service we will be back again on our next visit to Looe.

Popped in for some lunch and immediately taken by the COVID precautions. Excellent safety and the food was great. Little one had a sandwich box and we had the crab sandwiches. All very tasty! The cakes looked great too with gluten free options on display.

This lovely place overlooks the sea and is set in the quieter part of west looe. We stopped here a couple of times once for brunch and the second for afternoon tea, the lady greets you at the steps (due to covid restrictions) and she explains everything you need to do whilst visiting her cafe, she qas very helpful friendly and did an amazing job of sorting everyone out. She makes sure you use the hand gel and she also made sure that all the tables were cleaned down before she sent you to your table with instructions. Once you have decided what you want one person is to queue up from your table and you then go inside to order. When your food is ready someone calls your name and you go to the collection area where everything is all laid out for you again all covid safe.We ordered some sandwiches and they were on the softest, thickest bread full of tour filling, the childrens sandwich box was a perfect little thing with lots in, crustless sandwich, crisps, carrot sticks and cucumber pieces, there's umbrellas up for shelter from rhw hot sun and rhe view is just lovely aswell as being peaceful. The cream tea also was very delicious a beautiful scone with jam and cream and a good ole cornish tea. Good size too. Would definitely recommend having a visit. They are closed on a Monday so check before you visit they werw open around 10.30 and gets quite busy, lots of choice on the menu.

I visited the Island View Cafe with my wife and 2 teenage daughters in July 2020, and was delighted to be met by enthusiastic staff who talked us through their Covid-19 measures. This company has clearly taken this situation seriously and I can't thank them enough for that. Once we sat at our socially distanced outside table, I joined the queue to go inside and order. Only 1 customer inside at a time, which is sensible. I then had a really nice chat with the owner whilst he made our hot drinks, and his face-masked cooking staff made our food.These are troubling times and it's great to see that small businesses like this have reopened, and I really hope they can survive having lost so much of their season.Oh, and my crab sandwich was delicious!!

Such a nice place for lunch!! There was a lady waiting at the entrance with hand sanitiser, and she told us all of the covid precautions that they had taken. Her customer service was amazing from the beginning, and she made us feel at ease. They have a really good selection of foods, ranging from all types of sandwiches, panini and wraps. I’m vegan and I found that the selection of vegan food was really good, as they had the option for vegan spread on all sandwiches. Milkshakes, lots of hot and cold drinks also available. The sandwiches came out really fast, and the whole process of ordering was easy due to the one way system and only one person from each household being allowed to order. The views were unreal, overall would definitely recommend this place to anyone!!!

Did a quick search for somewhere for lunch that served cream teas and this seemed the best, we were not disappointed!Took the walk from Looe Town along the coastal path and it was certainly worth it, a really quiet spot with plenty of tables outside. The covid measures were excellent, best we've seen of any place. Hands sanitised on the way in, one way system, only on to order inside and the tables, chairs and even parasols are thoroughly cleaned afterwards, really well organised.The staff very welcoming and friendly, food was excellent, delicious salads, sandwiches and paninis, finished off with cream scones! Really hope they have a fabulous season with some good weather they deserve it!Also a quiet beachfront which is dog friendly so all in all a great spot.

I have to say Island View Cafe have a fantastic system of seating customers and serving food. Only one in the cafe to order - food laid out to collect and when you leave every table is sanitised. An excellent system. The food was excellent too and I would highly recommend visiting #safe

Al and his cafe were super efficient and friendly! We found this place on google maps, checked the facebook page out and Al messaged promptly to update me on opening times etc. We arrived for lunch to excellent C-19 measures. Including recycled / compostable take away boxes.We didn’t use their seating facilities as we popped our picnic blanket by the van beachside. Food was yummy and I would highly recommend a visit. Thanks guys and hope to be back soon!

We have eaten here before and it’s been lovely. We felt a bit anxious about eating out but thought as we could sit outside not to worry. We were met with hand sanitizer and watched as the tables were all cleaned down. Fabulous food and service as usual so we’ll be back. We visited Island View Cafe for the first time since Covid19 and were quite anxious about what the procedures were going to be. We needn't have worried.
