Indian Summer in Brighton and Hove

It was delightful, definitely would recommend to friends and family who are within the area. Such flavours incorporated into day to day dishes really made my day, hospitality was of an incredible standard too.Beautifully decorated walls. Honestly such an experience of an indian summer!

Visit this restaurant every time we are in Brighton. The restaurant is beautiful, the music is great, the food is fantastic every time and the staff are always friendly and helpful

I recently had the most incredible experience at Indian Summer restaurant, and I can't stop raving about their grand Thali! It was absolutely amazing! From the moment the fragrant aromas hit my nose to the last delicious bite, I was in food heaven. Each dish was bursting with flavor, and the variety was incredible. The portion sizes were perfect, and I left feeling happily stuffed. The atmosphere was so welcoming and cozy, making it the perfect place for a memorable dining experience. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine, you absolutely have to try the grand Thali at Indian Summer restaurant—it's a culinary adventure you won't forget!

I came here from London and it's a very delicious food I found in Brighton. As a vegetarian, it’s awesome and tasty. I love the ambience and food and the people who are working there, especially the Indian boy who served us food. He is very genuine and very humble with us. Thank you chef for the good food.

This is by far the best Indian restaurant in town! The dishes are utterly authentic and it’s very clear they’re made with love. As a veggie I had a great choice of dishes but went for the veggie Thali as I got to try a bit of everything. My sister had the meat thali which apparently was “incredible”. Brother in law had lamb Mewari. He loved the rich flavours and the spice - perfect with an ice cold beer! I highly recommend the chilli margarita and the mango mojito. The kids absolutely loved the food too. They’re mad for the ribs and the masala chips! Oh I will say that the garlic naan we ordered as an extra was out of this world. Can’t wait to return.

Was really excited to try out this place as it was the best reviewed Indian in Brighton, mostly due to the thali’s as they looked great in pictures. The restaurant itself and service is great but the food was awful, the lamb and chicken curries in the thali were bland, watery and had a weird texture. The thali was overpriced for the quality of food we got. I also ordered a masala dosa, which was utterly disappointing as it was spongy and flavourless, instead of crispy and aromatic. Sauces provided with the dosa were nice. The mango lassi was one of the best I’ve ever had. Overall, we paid ~£80 inc service charge for 3 people. Did not mind paying a higher price for good food, but I felt like this was quite a ripoff. Would not recommend. Response to the owner: The owner of this restaurant can’t take any criticism at all from all the responses I’ve seen on reviews for this restaurant. Clearly delusional and self-centred. Needs a reality check.

WOW! Spending a couple of days in Brighton and stumbled upon this Gem of a restaurant. I will now quite happily drive the 2 hours here to just eat here. Simple menu that offers exquisite delights that just melt on the tongue. Lamb and Chicken so tender that even a Vegan would question their life choices! (They do offer a Vegan menu, so don't be too offended by this comment)

What a perfect evening. We came to Indian summer for a birthday dinner and couldn’t have asked for any better service, atmosphere or menu selection. We had both the vegetarian and the meat thali as well as the sharing starter, it was delicious and very authentic Indian that you don’t get in many places here these days. The mango - prosecco dessert topped it all off. Highly recommend for any occasion. Will be back!

A must eat!! Get the biryani with raita, the butter chicken, starter paneer, and masala dosa. Although my BF had the meat thali and that was amazing too. Get it all!

This restaurant is an absolute gem in Brighton. The interior is vibrant and beautiful, bringing a relaxed and fun atmosphere. The food is also the best Indian food in the area by a long way. Cocktails were also unique and enjoyable. Would highly recommend getting the Grand Thali!

Well they got the taste right but not the amount of spices. Could also increase the number of items on their menu. The lithaunian waitress was a cheerful lady and provided excellent service.

Very few places get the spices JUST RIGHT! Indian Summer was one of them. The Paneer Butter Masala with Garlic Naan is a must try. The decor and interiors truly reminded me of India and gave a very royal Rajasthani feel. The place was packed and we did not have a reservation, yet the staff was kind to give us a table of 5. Highly recommended! Very close to the Brighton Pier.

Good location in centre of Brighton. Menu is not that extensive but provides some really interesting options and sufficient choice. Really well cooked. Staff were all friendly and helpful and overall there is a really good "vibe" to the place.

Fantastic lunch - delicious food and excellent with gluten free option suitable for coeliac. They gave us gf kids food and swapped the bread for gf dosa and cooked Popadoms in separate oil. Friendly and lovely service from francesco! We will be back again

Friendly little place and staff are very nice. Had the vegan dish and it was a good selection of Indian street food. Sauce was a little week but it was enjoyable nevertheless. Unfortunately I can't give it more than 3 stars because it is way, way overpriced. Many Indian restaurants in Central London are cheaper than current prices here and with bigger portions. A shame because the restaurant has charm. But for Brighton, there is too much competition to be charging what they do.

What an amazing experience. Wonderful food, incredible staff and background music that included reggae and Motown !! My biriyani tasted fantastic, full of flavour and just the right level of heat. Delightful food, good atmosphere, portion sizes are perfect most dishes come with rice and roti and price includes these. Special mention to the roti and naan as they are so flavourful without being too filling. Really great food! Amazing food, ambiance and service, as usual! We come here because it's such a lively and happy restaurant. We went with our friends and enjoyed a sharing platter for starters. Then most of us for main courses, had the meat Tali which was such a delightful array of beautifully presented joy and every mouthful is an explosion of different tastes. We will be visiting again in March.

This was about our third visit to Indian Summer and it never fails to impress. Really friendly hospitality, great cocktails and an awesome vegan thali. Booked up again recently to try the Valentine's Day sharing menu.

Only went here due to having higher ratings then most, so we went in, sat down and looked at the menu, not big selection, but I'm fine with that, first concern was I couldn't really see clearly what the cost of each dish was. I'm sure the food is good but I like to see what I'm paying in advance. So the question is would I go back? If the prices were clearly displayed I most probably would.

They regularly checked on us and you just get the feeling that they really care. Def worth going so book your table now :) Update: Went here for the second time yesterday. The food is just so good! Waiters are polite and attentive. I had a booking for 6.30pm but was late so gave them a call to let them know. They said it’s not problem they would hold it but would need the table back at 8pm for another booking. Two minutes later he calls me again to say they had a cancellation and I shouldn’t rush as we could have the table as long as we wanted. What a great service!

I have heard good reports about this restaurant. I turned up not really knowing what to expect. Looking at the menu, there were a lot less items on it that every other Indian restaurant I have been to, which I found intriguing. I am vegan and there were multiple options to cater for that. The descriptions of the food were that akin to a high class establishment, which further intrigued me. The waiting staff were all very knowledgeable about the items on the menu and explained the healthy philosophy behind the food, no food colourings, minimal sugar and salt. When the food arrived I was further impressed by the presentation and the fact that it tasted exquisite - subtlety different and superior to any other Indian food I've ever had. This in no ordinary Indian restaurant. This is the type of food I would expect to have in a high class restaurant in India. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Myself and 5 family members went here last month for my Mums birthday and from start to finish the whole experience was a bit of a disaster. We arrived on time and had to wait in the restaurant area until our table was ready. When I say wait, we were told to stand butt up against a table that was already dining. They just rolled their eyes and said it’s been happening since they got there. Very weird and awkward. 5 mins after waiting, we then got directed to our table of 6 at the back of the restaurant which seemed okay. However, the room was already full of a rowdy 25+ group of lads for their annual cricket AGM. In which we were right in the middle. Again very strange and extremely awkward. We then ordered cocktails and drinks to which two of the cocktails were absolutely hideous, although I appreciate this was our decision. The classic of also ordering a Diet Coke but full fat Coke coming out also happened. Wasn’t surprised. All of us ordered from the menu and the food came out ok. We’d been here before (a few years prior) and loved the food. However, the food tasted like home made curry you make yourself and not an authentic version. The same opinion was agreed by everyone at the table. That it was ok but tasted nothing exceptional and if anything extremely bland and boring. The waitress was attentive and very nice. She appreciated that the area we were sat was probably not the most suitable so suggested we move, but it all seemed a little too late and the thought of having the move halfway through your dinner is again a little awkward. To the point we were going to get a rowdy cheer if we did. The waitress kept saying the manager is aware and we are sorry. However upon paying the bill we were compensated by a handshake and shot of touaka. I wasn’t expecting a discount but at least an apology. The manager just laughed and shrugged at the situation. Couldn’t care less. Overall I can imagine this is a bit of an anomaly but I was also extremely disappointed with the food. Unfortunately we will not be returning.
