Would give 4.5 - good tasty Indian food - nice place - sadly one of us left waiting for food - not really their fault with kitchen delay but we sound have been advised.

The restaurant was bigger than it seemed from the outside, used by both locals as well as holiday makers which is a good sign. Friendly helpful staff even as it got busier within the restaurant and for takeaways. Delicious food, we had onion bahjis and chicken tikka for starters and then shared curried cod and chicken Balti with a garlic naan. Didn’t have room for dessert.

I ate here recently with a friend on a Friday evening. The restaurant was fairly quiet, and the service was attentive. There's a wide range of Indian dishes on the menu and the prices are reasonable. The food was very good - the best Indian meal that I've eaten for a long time.

Ordered our take away for 9pm it was ready at the time we requested, very good value for money and in line with other Indians in Cromer. The difference between Indian on the Cliff and other Indians in Cromer is the taste and authentic flavours this was by far the best Indian I have ever tasted, the girls at the front were very pleasant and chatty. Absolutely excellent will be ordering again thank my so much

I have been a long-time supporter of this excellent, small and family-owned Punjabi cuisine restaurant. They have received some less than favourable reviews of late, and I have not visited for a while myself, however, tonight I called in for my favourite of Saag and lamb with a side of aloo gobi. They did not disappoint. The lamb was fresh and succulent, and the spice had a depth of flavour which I remember impressed me the first time I visited. In my humble opinion, I think this little gem in Cromer is still worth supporting for some genuine Indian food. Lauren and her front of house team were welcoming and professional. Give it a try.

We’re pescatarian and have no problem ordering curry usually because most restaurants do a veggie version of the mains. Didn’t have this option here so ordered a bunch of sides and one fish dish - but only one as it was quite pricy at £13. The food is really good - it’s Punjabi style so don’t expect thick sweet coconut milk sauces for the most part. We prefer this and thought it was all delicious. Our only complaint is that our options were limited and buying lots of sides made our total bill come to a good £15 more than it usually does for a takeaway curry. The portion sizes were also on the small side vs average takeaway curry, so the money went even less far for that reason. Worth it for the taste, but a bit too expensive for us to eat as mostly veggie.

I had pre-booked via the website on a Tuesday for a table of 2 for 19:30 on the Thursday and was notified we will get confirmation shortly. However, we did not hear from the restaurant until 18:00 Thursday evening that our table was booked for 19:30 in an email. In that time we could have easily booked somewhere else. Unfortunately, we were running a bit late so we telephoned the restaurant to say we will be minutes mate, with which they rudely said ‘you’re very late as you should’ve been here at 18:30!’ I then double checked my booking and I was correct that the booking was 19:30. Not a good start customer service wise. Once we arrived only minutes late we noticed that the restaurant was very quiet, only two tables of customers. As soon as we entered the door we were pounced upon and told by two waitresses that ‘the manager has said we can’t serve you as you are far too late’ As I explained again, the table was for 19:30 and we called to say we were going to be a bit late. The waitress then said ‘we are short staffed, as we only have 2 chefs and us out front’ Myself and my partner were totally shocked as there were only 8 customers and it was only 19:45 in the evening, but they were adamant that we will not be allowed to eat in the restaurant and had to leave. I explained to the staff that I have never encountered such improper and disgusting customer service in Cromer and that they should not be open to the public. Myself and my partner have owned and managed restaurants locally and we have an excellent reputation. Stay well clear of this establishment, and don’t just take my word for it, read the other reviews. Go to the Masala Twist instead, which we did and the service was excellent.

Arrived at 7.30 o a Saturday night to a prebooked table to be told there were no menus currently available, even though restaurant was not full. We had to Google the menu. Food was not great - one in our party ordered butter chicken, a medium dish, which was incredibly spicy. One side delivered after all other food was finished, and one side was incorrect from what we had ordered. Partner and I ordered only one main dish each, and one side and one naan between us (no starter or dessert) which was £60+. Walls next to table had food stuck to them, and toilets were incredibly unsanitary. Staff seemed uninterested when these faults were raised as to help improve. Avoid at all costs.

So I booked this restaurant on the 3rd October for the 22nd December, giving good notice because obviously it was close to Christmas. On 4th December I get a cancellation notice due to 'staff shortages'. Okay it can happen but to cancel on me 2 months after the booking and with best part of 3 weeks to go...due to 'staff shortages' sounds like an excuse to take an early Xmas break to me. I will now have to find something else and guess what, everywhere is booked. Having said that reading the reviews I might have had a lucky escape! I have tried to book this place before only to see signs in the window 'closed to staff shortages' so I shouldn't be surprised. The lesson with this place is don't bother booking if having dinner that night is important to you.

Nil out of five I have never made a comment on a restaurant ever before at I feel this place is so awful the staff were so rude and uninviting and the meal that followed was disgusting I had just a simple madras chicken curry the chicken what there was was unrecognisable as chicken god knows what it was the boiled rice was extra at 4.50 tilda rice would have been far superior and then 10% service charge obligatory and then 10% tax on top of that I have had Indian food for over 50 years but never anything like this awful place go there at your own risk disgusting staff and food.

As a chef I have a never left a trip advisor review and no the damage one simple review can do but this has to be heard. Me and my brother got a table last minute on a Friday night, thinking what are the odds a very good smelling busy Indian restaurant. However, we arrived at 8:15, placed our starter order by 20 past and didn’t receive our starters till 9:00 (even though it wasn’t very busy) we then ordered a tikka missala, pilau rice, Bombay potatoes and vegetable madras, Chanda masala. Which we waited even longer for. Presentation okay, portion sizes small. 3 pieces of chicken in my masala. Then when trying the food every dish tasted exactly the same. We didn’t finish a 1/4 of any dish before we complained that all the dishes tasted the same just different rations of chicken or chic peas. The manager came over and was very defensive. He basically told me and and my brother to leave before he got angry. Another waitress felt the need to intervene after we said we’ve eaten many an Indian in our time especially at masala twist and just insulted us with her comments. The manager then complained to us with his customers of 10 years who I feel very sorry for as this is what they think is good food and service. I’m sorry but after expecting a lot Indian on the cliff was a huge dive. Very very disappointed and the manager Well. Get some help with your pride mate. Constructive criticism isn’t a negative. But you wouldn’t know. 70 years you said you’ve been doing this. Your recipes. Times change. Maybe you should state come in everything taste the same in Punjabi which I truly don’t believe it does. Good luck to you. Your waitress doesn’t even know the difference between aubergines and pakora.

My meal came without the rice I ordered and despite asking for it once again after waiting a further 10 minutes nothing appeared so I advised the staff not to bother. I wouldn't normally write a review for an average experience, usually just choosing to not return, but this time I felt compelled to make other potential diners aware. We arrived just after opening to a quiet restaurant to be met with a comment by te generally pleasant staff about the kitchen struggling as they were understaffed. Being early, this didn't ring too many alarm bells. Our usual experience of having a (northern) curry means regretting ordering a starter as we struggle to finish our main, so we went straight into mains. The restaurant were kind enough to cook a half portion of Butter Chicken for one child – no children's menu, which was fair enough. Unfortunately they tried to charge for a full portion. The gravy/sauce was very watery and looked to have split whilst cooking. Chicken thigh was used in the dish. The remaining three of us ordered a variety of vegetarian main curries (£6.20 – £8.50). These weren't as expensive as meat curries, which was nice to see, as usually vegetarian options are often priced on a par with meat options but can leave a diner feeling underwhelmed. Unfortunately they did. They were served in bowls which were about a third smaller than the meat curry bowl and they were filled about half – and less with one of the curries. Each dish amounted to 3 to 4 spoonfuls. They definitely felt like side dishes rather than a main. Maybe if the waitress had mentioned this the we could've ordered more to accommodate our hunger, although it would've probably proved an expensive meal. They were passable in taste but definitely left us all (including the children), wanting more. There was no other food being served to other customers so it wasnt possible to prepare ourselves for what we might be served with. The accompanying rice (£4.50) was cooked well (you'd hope so!), however the Peshwari Naan (£4.15) was very similar in size and shape to a shop bought bread, and literally had uncooked almonds, coconut, sultanas and chutney spread onto it, not cooked inside. We couldn't handle the anticipation for the Chapati arriving, originally missed off the order by the waitress. A large, soft and fluffy, freshly-made bread to mop up the curry would've redeemed the meal slightly. It turned out to be small and crispy and definitely didn't feel freshly made. And at £3.50 for one, it left us feeling flat. Once finished we paid, refusing the 10% service charge which was automatically added to the bill. Maybe we're spoilt with quality curries in the North, and I appreciate there's establishments which lead with quality over quantity, but the Indian on the Cliff feels like it's falling short in trying to offer everything to all. I'm aware things are currently tough for this industry, but if you're struggling then do something to make things better (e.g. adjust/reduce the menu). I'm sure some will find it worth climbing a cliff for, but unfortunately that wasn't us.

The restaurant is a nice setting and the staff very friendly and attentive. Popadums had a strange taste like they were cooked in very old fat, and the pickles were almost non existent. We were able to choose our own spice level in the Jalfrezi which was a good option and we went for Medium hot, the food was very salty however the meat was tender and well cooked , we did mention it and one portion was removed from the bill , although we didn’t expect that and told it was to make it hotter , can’t say I’ve heard of that technique so sadly only a 3/5 - shame because the staff are very friendly and welcoming

Absolutely disgusting! I would highly recommend you DO NOT eat here. Me & my partner walked in to the restaurant and the staff were oblivious to us even being there as the waitress and who we believe was the owner were having an argument about how they didn’t have half the main dishes. We finally got seated after them saying we didn’t have a table (even tho they had taken our details) Our table was so sticky our cutlery was actually stuck to the table. We ordered our drinks, starters and mains. The waitress asked how we would like the mains cooked (mild, medium or hot) we both requested mild dishes. my boyfriend had a Chicken korma which came out dark brown, it tasted like it had come from and jar and had no authentic taste to it what so ever and half the dish was oil! I got a Lamb tikka, mine was so spicy I couldn’t even eat half of it, again it was brown in colour which I’ve never seen before and COVERED IN OIL. I had king pawns for starter (featured in the picture below)..... Rice was standard. The naan bread tasted so sweet which was just unusual. The waitress asked how the food was... which she could see by the amount we’d left, we didn’t like it. I told her that it was a lot spicer than what I thought it was going to be and she give me no response. All in all it was the worst Experience/food I have ever tried, both our stomachs are Churning. Service was pretty slack, very unprofessional and it was an unsettling atmosphere to be in. To be honest I wish we just got up and left.

Persharwi naan had a strange marmalade over it, and was stale! all the curries tasted the same of which none of them actually tasted of what they meant to be!They all came in plastic sealed microwave tubs however shop bought curries taste a million times better. There was so much oil if it was released into the sea it would of caused a national disaster. On top of this when I got home one of the curries was missing, but in fairness to him he came and dropped the missing curry off which gave me the opportunity to speak to the manager. He said there was nothing he could do and that he did tell me to check the food when I collected? Which seemed like a throw away comment as I wasn’t going to open and eat before taking home!Best to avoid! Worst takeaway ever

Living near Hounslow in West London and with family near Bradford we've had a fair few excellent curries in our time and this place is a match for the best of them. They are clearly freshly preparing the dishes using high quality ingredients and a lot of cooking skill. Being on a coast famous for its fish and seafood they'be made that a speciality. Their curried cod and squid were just excellent and if you were served these in a fine dining restaurant you'd be dlighted. The cod was succulent and flaky and the sauce a vibrant and subtle fusion of fragrant spices with a gentle chili heat which prefectly complemented the fish. If you're a fan of very hot curries they will do that too because each dish is individually prepared. The service is also very good, unfussy and sincere but efficient. We enjoyed it so much we went two nights running but do book because it gets very busy. It's only open Thurs to Sat.

Went here on a Saturday night- booked first which was essential. The food was freshly cooked and had really excellent flavours. Each dish was cooked to the level of heat we wanted - which was great. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. The chef came out at the end of service to ask if people enjoyed the meal. Will definitely return!

We have eaten at this restaurant a number of times and have to say the food is brilliant. Freshly prepared with the taste of home cooking, it's delicious! Try the Pickled Pork and the Butter Chicken - some of the best we have had outside of India. Service is personal and friendly. Would recommend

Had booked online which was very easy. Very friendly welcome, drinks came quickly with popadoms which were delicious. The starters were good and a bit spicy, but the main meal was okay but we have had better.

Was really excited for my curry night! Which only comes every now and then as it's pricey. However, this was £25 for 2 people which tasted shop bought and was measly too. I got two bits of chicken in my curry. The rice in other places normally do two people this place 1 rice was a child's portion! Highly disappointed. Won't be going here again! :-(

This is the worst Indian food I have ever experienced. All the curries were petty much the same tasteless dish - the owner seemed pleasant enough but his chef let him down - get a proper Indian chef!

Only open Thursday, Friday & Saturday, you will have to book it to get in, it is a little bit more expensive than the other Indian restaurants in Cromer but boy do you get value for money absolutely the very best in Cromer area for a Indian meal, I would recommend it, you will enjoy.

What a disaster - was loooking forward to eating here but .... requested a table via their website for 7.30pm. They replied saying they could only do 8.15 if that was OK. We replied saying 8.15 would be fine and confirmation received at 5.30pm from restaurant that was agreed.

We have been visiting this restaurant for 5 years. It is a family run restaurant and the chef is Geeta who learned all her recipes from her mother. This is proper indian food cooked in the old fashion traditional way.. Highly recommended must book first

As a curry lover I visited with four friends on a walking holiday. Service was slow and the entrance was partly blocked by the recent delivery of a chest freezer! I ordered aloo goobi (forgive the spelling) which is a vegetable dish with potatoes and cauliflower. When the dish arrived after an hour wait I was told they had run out of cauliflower and given a dry looking potato curry! Why didn't they say at the time of ordering? Very, very disappointed with their response. They deducted the price of the dish from the bill and assumed this was an acceptable resolution. Wrong! Please try harder.

This is genuine Indian food, as the owner is a Sikh and so, too, are the chefs. It is not the usual fake, which is Bangladeshi or Pakistani. We had a lovely meal here, and have in the past, and since we are local it is so nice to get great value, and good service, and affordable prices, too. Many thanks to the gentleman who owns, and works here. He comes up from London, for Thursday, Friday and Saturday only, but well wort the the wait. Oh, and he doesn't charge London prices, unlike the Red Lion next door!

We were very pleasantly surprised how good Fakenham Tandoori is. It’s entirely unprepossessing outside and certainly not ostentatious inside but clean and capacious. But empty - which was not a good sign. But the freshness of the ingredients, the variety available on the menu and the tastes were excellent. We had a vegetarian biryani, a chicken biryani, a kohai (I think cauliflower or spinach), and some starters. The poppadoms were fine, the chapatis excellent - only the chutneys were a bit poor, though the lime pickle was hearty!

I really don’t know where the negative reviews come from for this place. I’ve ordered curries 7 or 8 times from here and the food has been consistently excellent. Once the food was about 25 minutes late, but still arrived hot and fresh. Bearing in mind this is a basically a cheap kebab shop, they are honestly turning out some of the best tasting curries I’ve ever had. I can’t speak for the kebabs or pizzas. Only ordered from the Indian.
