Amazing food and fantastic service. We've visited twice and will be coming again next year, we live in Newcastle and certainly would travel up more regularly if we could just to come here!

Absolutely disgusting how they talk to people especially the way they have spoken to delivery drivers every time I’ve been in I’ve had nothing but attitude they talk to you like your a nobody and they are so much better than you, absolute scum do not waste your money, food was absolutely terrible aswell nothing like Indian food at all, also saw a mouse running about and flys landing on my plate

Food was great ,lovely flavour, service top had a great laugh with owner, now a few things ,place is a little dated wouldn't cost to much to take it up a level or to and toilets need to be cleaner but still a great time .the family from Ireland 🇮🇪 thanks few weeks ago

Food was good but we all felt rushed but the same person which tried clearing the table as we were still finishing and gave us the bill and told us to go to the bar and pay we'd only just finished eating but still had our drinks. I'd probably not bother going back again with service like that we we're not made to feel welcome once we were sat down.

I went to Edinburgh with my partner and stumbled across this beautiful Indian restaurant. The staff where the most friendliest kind hearted I have ever met !! the lamb biryani was by the most authentic I have ever had and left you wanting more. I met a Scottish Pakistani whos accent made me smile. A genuine happy place to visit and you will come out with your belly full !! Nabila

I had a fantastic meal at Indian Lounge. From the warm, inviting ambiance to the aroma of fresh spices, everything was spot-on. The butter chicken was crisp and flavorful, and the butter chicken, mixed tandoori and chicken curry were rich and beautifully spiced, paired perfectly with naan and basmati rice. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, making the experience even better. Whether you're new to Indian food or a longtime fan, this place is a must-visit. Already looking forward to my next visit!

Very good food! Seeing the google rating I was a bit sceptical but I gave it a go and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very very good! Starters, sides and mains were all very tasty and aromatic. Pieces of chicken were juicy and tender at the same time. A very good spot to visit in Edinburgh. It deserves way more than the 3,6 rating it currently has. I genuinely don’t understand where the low ratings are coming from.

Meal out while visiting Edinburgh and highly recommend this restaurant. Very helpful staff who selected a variety of dishes for us as a member of the party couldn’t have anything too spicy. The service was very good and the food was delicious. There was plenty to go round.

What a great find! We had the tandoori menu for two and it was delicious. The food was tasty and of such good quality. We were also very impressed with the quality and flavour of the meat, best lamb dish I've had in an Indian restaurant. Staff were also very friendly and helpful. Diolch yn fawr.

Excellent Indian restaurant in New Town

Very rude service, the guy who took my order initially acted as if he was doing me some favor. I could have walked off but since I already placed an order I stayed. I wasn’t even served water until I asked midway through my meal. The food was okay but the crappy service and rudeness of that person spoiled my mood for the day. He gave me a disgusting look when I said I will think and decide what I want for the main course after eating the Poori appetizer. Never going there again!

Late Review- This happened in Last week of August. I went there with my teacher who loves indian food and i can not begin to tell you how rude they were to us. Firstly when my teacher tried to tell the person how he wants his food, he replied - I have 3 - 4 restaurants and I know what i am doing. I was taken aback by the audacity. Then they served us literally average food (ask any indian foodie and they will tell you how average their food is. Stuffing spice to the max doesnt make it indian cuisine for gods sake). Once done, we were given a handwritten bill. I cross checked and realised they were unfair in their billing too. When questioned they tried to belittle me at their reception infront of others. I shamelessly had to tell them to Google my name and learn that this was not about paying 10 pounds extra. This was about being unfair and cheating people. (Read more reviews and you will see more people mentioning such incidents) I must also mention how a couple sitting next to us wanted to pack their left over food and the way packing boxes were thrown at their table, even my teacher was shocked. I dont care if they have 200 restaurants, i care about my one time experience and in no way you can treat anyone like that. You are doing no one a favour. Indian culture is food later, service first. Please dont be the reason people hate india and indians. P.S. (After posting this review i scrolled a bit)- Wanna see the proof in the pudding? Read their responses to some of the reviews. If you scroll a little you will see, they literally responded to a lady saying - "Either the food was good or you must have been hungry for 20 days because you did finish what you ordered" Really??? Such audacity ??? Wow. And the more i read, i realise most of the bad experiences happened to people who were Asian/Brown. May be because their bills/tips aren't much. And their reply to such reviews does say they that they are in this business of harrasment since 40 years now. Your narcissism comes from your inferiority and inability to have empathy. Sadly, you just picked Pathetic from Em-pathetic. I am sure one smart ass reply is on its way for my review too. Reply to your comment - Why am I not surpised by your response? Lol. You can call all the bad reviews false, I dont care. You are one serious incident away from doom. Brits had the same over confidence and narcissism for 200 years but time spares no one. Dropped in for dinner on a Tuesday night. Restaurant not as busy as it perhaps deserves to be. Food was fresh, tasty and spiced to our liking. We shared a bottle of wine from a small, but adequate list. Service generally efficient, although we were given an entrees that was not the one ordered. To its credit, the restaurant brought us some aubergine (the missing ingredient). This is another restaurant that includes a service charge on its billing without advising customers.

Delicious flavours! We had the aloo Gobi and vegetarian Red Fort special - this dish we had seen on the takeaway menu but it wasn't on the dine in menu, when I asked about it they made it for us, so thank you! Very good prices and lovely service

Excellent food and service, so many food choices on their menus we want to try everything! My wife and I was so hungry after we arrived in Edinburgh our first choice for dinner was Indian food I hurriedly read the 5 star reviews and went straight to Indian Lounge ! We were not disappointed it was truly authentic and the best so far we've tried waiter was friendly and will recommend and help with food choices. So, same with other reviews I will highly recommend and return if we only have more time in Edinburgh.

Delicious food the real taste of Indian food

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Indian Lounge on Rose Street in Edinburgh. Previous reviews looked great, so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! The food we ordered (Paneer Saag, Coconut Chicken Tikka Masala, Pashwarie Naan, and the Chutney Tray) were all delicious! The service staff were friendly and efficient. We will definitely return the next time we are in Edinburgh.

I came to Edinburgh to enjoy a holiday from AZ ! My girlfriend was very ill and i needed to get food to go! Not only were they accommodating to allow food to go, in addition provided health conscious choices, good humor and support from the patron, server and great food! Amazing Phall, perfect cheese and red chilli naan, the poppadoms were so fresh they were the best I’ve ever tried. Lovely attentive service, very friendly waiters! Definitely recommend and will be coming back.

The treatment to fellow Indians was disrespectful to say the least. We could clearly see the difference in service between us and white skin folks. The local countrymen are far more courteous. From not serving the papads to asking me to go up for payment was really unpleasant - the strange stares from the guy serving us as well. Pull up your socks guys. Seems was a wrong choice coz I see the rude responses of the owner whenever there is a negative review. To get things straight - we have been gng to quite a few upmarket restaurants in Edinburgh including the cafe at the Scottish gallery and it’s been the best experience. Out of the respect to the elderly person serving us, I remained quite.

Best Indian Restaurant in Edinburgh

Bad bad bad, no higiene, cockroaches on walls, food without test and worst’s customer service.

I had an extremely disappointing experience here. The staff was incredibly rude and unprofessional, which completely ruined my visit. From the moment I walked in, I was met with hostility and a lack of basic customer service. They seemed annoyed to answer any of my questions and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. I would not recommend this place to anyone and will definitely not be returning. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else where they actually value their customers.

The quality of treatment is excellent. The food is made with love. A bit noisy at first because there were several tables with rather large groups but once they left the atmosphere and decoration seemed very welcoming. Excellent

Had lunch and thoroughly enjoyed. The food is fresh, flavoursome and fantastic. Easily the best food I have enjoyed in a long time. Will definitely be returning with other members of the family. (Please keep table 8 free for us.) If you are in Edinburgh, look the Indian Lounge up, you won't be disappointed.

We had no idea what to expect when we found this place tucked away in the back streets of Edinburgh. Very pleased we ventured inside because we found a little gem of a place! Fairly small dining area but felt cozy. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Lots to choose on the menu but we decided on the garlic chilli chicken and the coconut tikka masala with veg rice. All dishes came out in good time and tasted fantastic! The missus who hasn’t tried much curry was really impressed and we had to order a naan bread to mop up the remaining sauce! I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Worst food experience I ever had in my life. The quantity they served was too less and taste wise it too bad. Don't go to this place they don't deserve your business and more over hand written bill charging too much than menu card. They charge 3.20 pounds just for one coca cola zero can if buy outside maximum price will be 0.99 pounds.when I ask the person he rudely told me that he need to put ice and clean the glass. Ridiculous place I ever went, Don't recommend to anyone.

A very bad experience. If you are in the mood to see rude and grumpy faces of the owner, then only visit, otherwise please don't go to this place. It was 4 pm and we went for snacking. We thought we will have samosas so after sitting on the table we ordered 2 samosas. The bald guy took our order and came back again and ask if we are going to order more. Since we were there for snacking, we were not sure yet but he immediately asks us to leave the table and said you have to order for minimum £12.90 for sitting else you take it as take-away. Even the restaurant was full empty, he asked us to leave. That was very unprofessional and rude to the customers. When I asks him that during non-peak hours also you have this minimum order thing, to which he replied yes because then we have to serve tap water and everything and it's a overhead. Omg, how can any one treat its customers like this. As a tourist, you want to have a pleasant experience but my experience was very very sad. They claim to be Punjabi cuisine but they miss the Punjabi friendliness and the love they show when hosting people for which every Punjabi is famous for. Please don't go to such places.

I recently visited Indian Lounge on Rose Street in Edinburgh, and it was the worst dining experience I've ever had. The food was absolutely terrible, with a disgusting smell that made it inedible. The customer service was extremely pathetic, handled by rude and incompetent staff. Their attitudes were so bad it felt like they were going out of their way to be unpleasant. I sincerely hope this place gets shut down soon. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this restaurant at all costs! Looking at the response received - Your behavior, much like your food, is cheap and downright awful. We couldn’t even finish our meals; half of it was left uneaten. The staff was incredibly disrespectful, adding to the horrid experience. God help anyone who dares to eat the food you prepare and endure the service you provide.

Waiter discriminated against us from the second we stepped in the place. Said we couldn’t order certain dishes off the menu because they were too busy to cook that certain dish. Only wrote half our order down. Refused to repeat it back. Very rushed so we felt we had no choice but to leave. Absolutely poor service. Would not recommend one bit. Would rather starve.

Visited them today for dinner, horrible experience. The staff is the most rude I have ever seen, upon asking for the waiting time, he got so frustrated and literally yelled at us asking us to be patient but we just asked once to get an idea of wait time. We asked him to be polite which triggered him and he had the audacity to ask to leave. Extremely poor hospitality. Exact sentence used by him when we were leaving- the food is ready but u guys bloody couldn't wait. Gosh unbelievable.

hands down the best indian i’ve ever had! everything i had was absolutely gorgeous & the waiters were so lovely. vegetarian curries can often be very bland with not much variety of vegetables, but the mixed veg chasni was absolutely unreal. 10/10!

The owner was rude and said we don’t serve Indians. We ordered Chai and Vegetable Pakora and they arrived 30 minutes apart. Very rude owner and server!

This was what really happened, first of all, I hardly write reviews even in my country, because I can empathize with the hardships of the service industry, but this dining experience was truly the worst of my life, so I write these comments. See, just by replying to clearing the plates, you can say that we don't like to help others because we are from another country. It's not that we don't want to help, but that your service staff didn't even ask us for help. Is it polite to just tap the table with one hand and then gesture to ask us to hand it over? It's ridiculous that you charge a service fee but provide such poor service, and you don't even think there's anything wrong with it As for racial discrimination, your service staff kept asking if my friends are from China? Although they have replied no. And not all Asian faces are from China! Moreover, we noticed that the person who served us had a bad face from beginning to end. On the contrary, he was kind and full of smiles to other white people. Touching my friend's hand without permission did happen, I didn't have to make up a story. Why don't we report it to the management? Because we were just tourists and already felt so much malice, we just wanted to leave as soon as possible after eating. Really good hospitality and good value for money

We made a bee line for this restaurant based on reviews. When we arrived we were the only ones in the dining room. It soon filled out though and proved it was a poplular place. The meal and service was excellent.

Food really good....I had tandoori mixed grill....plenty on sizzling plate.....

Very disappointed and upset by this establishment which takes customers for pigeons. The service is disappointing, the discount voucher was not taken into account by the cashier for no valid reason, supposedly because it is not intended for the menus.... it is not indicated anywhere and it is not did not make a reduction on the rest of the dishes... We were given a fait accompli of 10% for the service (which does not deserve it)... the cashier told us the note (10×10 cm ) on the front door which mentions this "tax". The manual invoice says a lot about how to handle the cash register... if only they had been friendly, that could have saved the evening... Otherwise the food was very good, despite being too expensive for the price. I do not recommend this restaurant.

The staff and owners at Indian lounge are ethically bankrupt and are real life thugs. Service food and billing everything is horrible. Please don't go to this place and waste your time and money. Ok now adding here since I could not reply. Paaji Tussi is truly ethically bankrupt. Also remember the guy who gave the review. There are no 3 people in my group, only us. Bill, if you are thinking of donating 20000 pounds then Guru will forgive you. This attitude is still there and very soon Bhatinda will go back. Be afraid of God. The rest is your wish.

The owner and staff were very welcoming. They made you feel home. Haggies Pakora & Turkha Dal was too good. Quantity of Chana Puri was less and it was more of chana puri roll.
