Indian Dream in Solihull

Poor service and attitude from the staff. Food was bland and cold, we wanted over an hour and half to be served cold slop. And to top it all they tried to over charge.

10 of us sat down for our special get-together, poppadoms and dips out quick, drink order 15 minutes later, when drinks arrived then they took food order, from order to food arriving was 1 hour and food was going out the door so fast for takeaway took priority. 3 of use had to change our soft drinks 3 times as they were flat, asked for diet coke turns out to be full strength but they added tap water to make it less. 3 meals not eaten as they tasted funny, mine and my son's cold so complained so they put them in the microwave. We complained and about the drinks, service and especially the food and they deducted my daughters meal. They didn't want to listen to our complaints and final straw was on the bill was a extra £4 per person of stuff we didn't have. 37 yesrs I've been eating out and many a curry with family and friends and rugby but this is the worst on food and especially service. Avoid

Bland tasteless food. What initially looks like a impressive tray of dips with the popadoms very quickly disappoints when you see how watery everything is. Even the mango chutney drips off the spoon. Then no taste. Absolutely none. Following this the chicken dupiaza arrived, advised as slightly hot. Well at this stage I started to think I had Covid as I’m not kidding absolutely no flavour, a watery sauce, no heat and just a mouthful of nothingness. I ate half of it as we we’re paying for it but gave up then as my pallet was so bored. Top this off with the shock on the bill of a large Diet Coke costing £7 and my voe to never return was cemented.

Honestly...please don't waste your money! My partner had A Chicken Handi ....it was swimming in oil, & tasted like the bottom of a fryer 🤢...he's a foodie, so I said let me taste it, & it was absolutely disgusting! The taste I will never forget! 🤮 We had the chicken tikka massalla...cold, chicken dry & overcooked Onion bajis...cold, dry Prawn tandoori prawns....really overcooked, cold and only TWO in there!! The only nice things were the pilau rice and papadoms!! The sauces were so runny tho... Now I am NOT normally a complainer...I love to leave a great review...but I'm sorry...we would NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone, ever....

Quite possibly the worst meal I’ve ever had ! Stale poppadoms, recycled sauces, bland watery food, reformed cubed chicken pieces , overpriced naan bread at 3.40 with barely a sliver of cheese no garlic or chilli topping just terrible we did wonder why we were the only customers !

Start off with wine purchased from tesco at £5.00 and sold at £25.00 a bottle. Then when we queried it , we were totally told take or leave it. Then the food arrived and the one dish was of four was bland .when this was pointed out we were ignored in respect that they were not interested. When we asked to speak to the owner he would not speak to us and stood behind is employee saying he is my manager he will sort you out. This ended up as a not sorted out issue. And we paid our bill not happy overall a very frustrating experience.

Ordered a Chicken Balti for collection and was so disappointed. Only live a couple of minutes away and the balti was lukewarm, watery and very salty. Also, didn’t taste like a balti with very little chicken which was overcooked, so won’t be using them again.

We ate here a couple of times several years ago and it was awful.... we arranged to meet friends Friday early evening we were waiting for our friends to arrive we were asked if we wanted popadoms , we said yes they arrived within 2 minutes and tasted stale and what confirmed this was as soon as we dipped them in the yogurt dip they literally turned to mush.. never had that happened before.. the tray with the relish and dips on were very watered down. No taste. As soon as our friends arrived within a minute of them sitting down we were asked what we wanted to order. The staff seemed to be constantly hanging around we definitely felt rushed ,yet there were many empty tables and I now know why... I ordered lamb pasanda my usual choice OMG it was terrible ,very watery sauce and about 7 small tough chewy pieces of lamb and it was just tipped onto my plate and a small helping of rice in a bowl. They way these meals were served was very odd ,my husband and friends meals came out all served up on the plate ,no dishes to serve up your own portions , not one meal was nice , both friends said they tasted either dry and chewy or watery . We travel a great deal around the uk eating at different Indian restaurants when we get the chance and once again the food here is as bad as it was before and possibly even worse... staff hovering around the table and taking plates off whilst others at our table were still eating , so rude ,you definitely felt like they were rushing you. And reading other reviews it appears that they have not taken on board others similar complaints. After 30 years and to this day there has never been an Indian restaurant to beat the ELLORA in knowle ,outstanding food and service... they just get everything right....go to the ELLORA and see the difference.

Ordered a takeaway on Saturday. I know there’s football on and after 70 minutes called them that order hadn’t arrived. Stated food ready and waiting on driver to deliver it. 15 minutes later, food arrived cold. Contacted them and the member of staff laughed when I stated the food was cold. I’ve used these for years but not anymore.

This evening my son and I decided to catch up over an Indian curry. We arrived at 6.10pm. We left at 7pm! In this time we had poppadoms. Starter each. Main course. Coffee and night cap. Prebooked visit. The other than approx 6 other people the restaurant was empty We were shown to our table I hadn't taken my jacket off, my son hadn't sat down. We were asked how many poppadoms we wanted. We answered. Next what drinks would you like? We hadn't even had a chance to look at the drink/wine menu. So we both said drinks off top of our heads. They missed out on a bottle of wine order! My son said 'do you think they want us out asap'? We hadn't even started eating the poppadom when they want our order. Again we both went with starters and mains off top of our heads. I had just about looked at the first page of the menu. We started the poppadom.. one between us. Our starters arrived. So we left the poppadom to eat starter. Next the half eaten poppadom and condiments were taken away. We ate our starters. Within 5 minutes our main meals came out. We were chatting and eating I put my cutlery down to pinch a couple of my sons chips. The next I know a hand reached over to take my plate. I did snap I'm afraid and said I hadn't finished my meal. We felt so rushed. As soon as one waiter took out plates another came over with a pudding menu. We asked for 10 minutes to let our food settle. But no with a couple of minutes the waiter was back at our table. We opted for coffee and a whisky each. Before we had sipped our coffee the bill was on the table! The food was lovely but could have been better had we been allowed to relax and enjoy it. We won't go back again. We hadn't caught up as we planned we were rushed and it spoilt our time together. If you want a fast curry this is the place for you. But don't plan on a relaxing meal here never again

We booked for 18:30 we were gone by 19:10!! They literally take your food away before you have finished!! Poppadums were stale and the curry was bland. They asked if we wanted a box for the food we couldn’t eat due to being rushed. I’ve spent longer in McDonald’s. The only good bit of food was the naan bread.

terrible meal, chicken pasanda, couldn't have been worse if i had tipped a budget nameless cook in sauce over meat. popadoms tasted like burnt coconut oil. this has to be the worst takeaway ever, had about 3 mouthfuls to be polite at the table, then apologised to my host for having to leave meal. she agreed and apologised to her guests saying she knew it was awful. on which everyone put down cutlery breathed sigh of relief as plates scraped into bin.

Chose only the veg this time and sad to say it was disappointing. The Paneer Tikka Shashlik, Tarka Dhaal and Chana Bhajee were pleasing to the eye but so bland. Naan stole the show. I think their strength lies in the meat dishes.

Went here over the weeken, when COVID restrictions were supposed to be in place! The restaurant was as packed as before the recent restrictions no attempt as social distancing. A group of >8 was allowed to be seated on adjacent tables, with kids running around the tables. Waiters did not all wear masks and seemed oblivious to the COVID guidelines Will not be going back till after the current restrictions are lifted.

Many many years visiting Indian dreams but take way and 20% (as per the website was a bonus). The food was absolutely shocking. Dhaal was like water and was disgusting and the tikka massalla tasted as if ketchup had been added. The whole meal was disgusting, a total waste of money )website advertises 20% discount but when you query it, it’s only on the main courses. £40 for that crap this evening means that I/we will not bother going there again.

We have ordered regularly to our home and the last 2 times ( both recent after pre ordering hours before ).. the driver has been 25 minutes late. I have called shop & they have said ‘the driver is on the way, sorry about that’. It’s not good enough! The food needs microwaving as soon as it arrives and it’s frustrating when it’s not a cheap meal. This will be the last time we order with Indian Dream. You cannot beat the service in shop, but delivery is not good!

The food was fab as always.. the staff are constantly rushing for you to order to get you in and out.. if they could work on this aspect they would get much better feedback and not feel like your in a cattle market

Very warm welcome and lovely warm restaurant. Staff delightful and service excellent. The array of sauces was amazing and the chicken was so tender and full of taste. Plenty of chicken and all ingredients with beautiful fluffy naan. Only negative was that a gap was needed between starter and main. Will definitely be visiting again as it is now in my top 2 Indian restaurants in the area.

Meal a little disappointing after previous wonderful experiences. Guest beer changed and was not impressed. Food lacked taste on my last visit. Try it for yourself as it may have been a one off. I will return again next year.

Arrived at 19.20 for a 19.30 reservation, to find the restaurant very busy, both for sit down meals and takeaways, but got seated quite quickly, from there things went down hill rapidly, ordered nibbles, starters, and mains, 3 drinks later, and a hour passed the waiter arrived with our mains, I told him that we had not even had our starters, but because of the wait we continued with our mains, what a disaster, bland, and tasteless,completely with out any hint of spice, the only good point was the prompt arrival of the taxi home, avoid this place like the plague.

A casual drive, a diverted route and a last minute choice - all these coincidences led to one of the most memorable dinners we had.

Been to this place a few times now and wanted to give an objective review.

I have been visiting the Indian Dreams on a weekly basis since it opened many years ago.

The customer service in a rush before we could sit down and see the menu. The staff utter in a different language, before sitting the staff come running to serve the drink popadums. The presentation is not good with sauce around the plate my clothes got stained. And vegetables and fruit piece in the centre of the meal served. The staff are everywhere and are not trained. However, there is a new staff recruited and his customer service was very good. The food was good but I think the staff need training and the presentation of food should change, it would make a difference.

Great tiffin, and superb service. By far the best Madras served, in town. I will keep going back, again, and again..

My wife and I had an evening meal here. Setting very good, my food was good ,just how I like it. Unfortunately my wife's chicken dansak was not so good. The chicken neither looked like chicken nor had the texture of chicken.

I have a take away on a saturday from this restaurant, they dont deliver because they dont have to, which is ok with me, the food is lovely never had a bad meal from this place, my favouriite is the lamb mirchi, the staff are very friendly and plesant, if your food isnt ready, enjoy a free beer while you wait.

After being given a £40.00 bday voucher to eat here we visited Friday evening from the minute we walked in we were rushed to eat the food was not very good there was three of us having 2 starters to share 3 curry’s 2 naans 2 rice 2 cokes and 3 cobras £69 I mean I expected to pay a bit extra but think that was way too much the lamb Baltic was not good I left half, I’m seriously not a fussy person but really feel the need to rant so disappointed

We had a meal for 4 on Friday night at Indian Dream, Solihull. As usual the food and service was great and an exciting buzz from the busy bustle of the Friday night crowd.

Went to Indian dream last night, ordered chicken pakoras and the grade of chicken/ texture wasn't good. Its like its old chicken.Ordered chicken tikka masala and the chicken pieces were hard and not fresh.

Went out tonight to take our kids (4 and 2) out to try a curry instead of the usual burger/chicken nugget/fish finger and beans combo.

Came lastnight was my 3rd visit. Really disappointed the chicken certainly did NOT taste like chicken. Don't think I'll be coming back again

I done a collection order. As I was paying the guy dropped my order an completely covered me in hot curry. Given a wipe to clean myself whilst I re done my order I thought least they could do, when I was given my order an got home like 3 mins away, it was freezing cold, the pakoras were in some thick coating with was bland an the chicken it's self was cold not even warm... Cold! So I complained an I didn't even get a response, been going there for about 6 7 years an no way will I be going back

Made the (not so serious) mistake of ordering poppodums, starters and mains, when just two out of the three would probably have sufficed. The pickles/chutneys tray that came with the poppodums was the largest I’ve ever seen while the mixed starter was four pieces and filling. Struggled to find room for the mains (always a good sign). Attentive staff and very reasonable prices. Would certainly recommend.

My wife and I went with friends and were met with courtesy and efficiency and taken straight to our table. We had poppadums and dips on our table within minutes. I ordered Sheek Kebab and Lamb Dhansak, always my "check-out" food on a first visit. The Kebabs were spicy and moist - most enjoyable. The Dhansak sauce was terrific and the lamb was tender. I was impressed with the Naan which was still fresh and light at the end of our main course. My wife was more adventurous, and said that her food was superb. The coffee was good, and we were offered complimentary drinks to finish.

We had a takeaway on Saturday it has by far taken over our usual Indian takeaway .I had a chicken Balti it had lots of chicken in it with lots of fantastic sauce herds and spies it wasn’t spicy it was just so right absolutely delicious.My husband had lamb Balti it had lots of lamb and like mine had plenty of sauce and he said this is definitely the best Balti he’s eaten in years I second that .He has gone back to this restaurant tonight for another takeaway he’s something different I’m jealous as I’m trying to lose a little bit of weight so il just have to wait until the weekend.Ive just got to say is it’s our first time at this restaurant and we are more than happy it’s just the best .

Yes, we are (very) regular customers and with good reason. We usually visit mid-week, when it’s less busy, but the atmosphere yesterday was lovely. Top quality food, freshly cooked, with staff who pride themselves on knowing their customers personally. New menu has some interesting additions, lamb with cabbage is extremely tasty and the beef dish also very good. Nothing is too much trouble; we really appreciate the way we are welcomed as friends on every occasion.

Went for a meal on a Saturday night. The restaurant is lit with red and blue lights creating a very nice atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and the boss came to our table and went through the menu with us, giving us recommendations.

The staff were very welcoming. The décor is spectacular and the food was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our prawn on puri starter and my balti was the best I have had in over 25 years of eating it all over the world.

We were just passing and decided to try. The waiters were very attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was lovely. The chicken tikka was honestly the best I have ever eaten and it was a generous portion. The main course was equally as good, I had prawn dansak and hubby had chicken jalfreizi. The food was hot, plentiful and tasty. When we asked for the bill we were given a complimentary drink, Baileys for me and brandy for hubby. We also had hot flannels and a chocolate. The bill was only £37 for Pappadams, starters, main courses with rice and drinks for 2. We will definitely be going again.

Friends had booked this local Indian Restaurant, which they have visited previously, they assured us it was really good. We met up on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was already busy, with both diners and takeaway orders, but the atmosphere was welcoming and the decor is very authentic, rich reds,subjued but vivid colours and great lighting. The wine list is varied and competitively priced, the menu caters for all tastes, including some different and unusual dishes. The waiters are attentive and willing to describe any of the dishes in detail.

Never had anything but excellent tasty food at reasonable prices. Service friendly, always welcoming. Bombay A loo clearly cooked in ghee with tasty sauce, Onion Bhaji crisp and light.

Have not been to this restaurant for a long time it is still brilliant with different staff, the food was excellent and the beers were excellent. The staff were friendly and excellent. I love this restaurant as they part of my local community and like all other restaurants have the most amazing food and staff and also lovely customers. Thank you so much everyone and will come again soon, highly recommended.

Once again a great take away from here. This serves the best chicken tikka masala around according to my youngest daughter. Service is always friendly and had some great food. Thanks again!

Visited tonight for a meal with friends. Not particularly impressed with the food, average! But the reason we will not return is because from start to finish we felt completely rushed through our meal by the staff. They were hanging around our table and whisking things away before we had finished. Then immediately the next item would arrive. I felt very unwelcome and felt they needed our table and couldn't wait to get rid of us. Not good and we will not be visiting here again!

Whenever I am over visiting family I love nothing more than treating us all to a fine bit of food from Indian Dream. The food is always fresh and tasty and knocks socks off my local restaurants. Everytime I have been it has always been top notch. Keep up the great work!

This was our second visit and we are even more impressed both with the food and with the hospitality. The food is beautifully spiced and presented by tellented chefs. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very pleased to discuss menu items. It is a well priced restaurant with a great ambience

I won a meal at Indian Dream in a competition and planned to take my Mum there for a treat. We had to cancel twice because of the snow but both times whoever answered the phone was kindness itself. There was no pressure to state another date - I could have waited as long as I wanted.

We all enjoyed our food but we were disappointed with the service on this occasion. We hadn’t finished our poppadoms before they were whisked away without asking us and the waiters cleared away the plates before all of us had finished eating. One person was still eating their meal when they tried to take away their naan bread and sauce for their meal. We objected only for them to come back with oranges and hand wipes, despite everybody still not having finished their main course! It made the person finishing their main meal feel rushed and embarrassed. Perhaps staff need some further training on how to treat customers more thoughtfully?

First time here and was very impressed, place was packed (8pm Sat) which is good sign and luckily we had booked. Food was fantastic and even the poppadums had that just cooked warmness. I thought it had an edge over other curry houses, with the little extra effort they put in here and there. We even got a free Nan bread because the waiter thought that one them was slightly over cooked, who were we to argue? Had starters, mains and coffee, left there full and very happy.

I have been to Indian Dream a number of times in the last month, and every time I have had a wonderful meal.

We’ve been coming here since it opened and although we’ve tried other places, we always return.They remember every one of their guests and make it their mission to know your preferences for drinks and food. Book, even early in the evening as it does get busy. Meat quality is outstanding and although there aren’t many veggie options on the menu, just ask and they’ll be pleased to offer suggestions. Food is cooked from fresh, so don’t expect ‘fast’ food, and they make their own spice mixes - proven because dishes are never identical from one visit to another. Proper cooking, not formula from vacuum packed portion control stuff. Looking forward to our next visit!

This is one of my favorite Solihull Indian restaurants. The food is consistently good and the waiters are friendly and helpful with menu queries. You don't have to wait ages for your food and its delicious. Really lovely atmosphere and a warm welcome. Free parking outside the door.

First time visit and I can not wait to go back friendly staff warm and welcoming food was excellent had tiger king prawns to start just out of this world tandoori chicken stir fry and chicken and king prawn curry Nan and chips everything was Cooked to perfection well done to the chef can't wait to go back and it wasn't expensive

Went here with my family twice in one month to this place as it’s conveniently just down the road! The service is great! The people are so friendly and very attentive! The food did not disappoint either, it was all beautifully presented and delicious! 100% would recommend to anyone!

Excellent curry, excellent service. Even though I live within walking distance of Solihull town centre and its many Indian restaurants, I chose to drive to Indian Dream as it beats all the others hands down. The manager Kamal is a lovely guy who really makes you feel welcome. Simply the best around!

Popped in here for dinner with my daughter. Haven't eaten her for a few years as wasn't impressed the last time I visited. What a difference! The service is exceptional! The staff were so efficient, polite and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The food was really tasty & beautifully presented. Will definitely be returning. Always a great sign when a restaurant is almost full by 6.30pm. Excellent value for money,

My first visit to this restaurant was a very pleasant experience. The staff were very courteous with prompt service. A clean and well appointed decor with a good atmosphere. A wide ranging menu, the number of sauces accompanying the poppadoms was exceptional- I will definitely visit again.

We've only visited Indian Dream once but were impressed by the extensive menu and knowledgable staff. The food is well presented and the flavour balance is excellent. The meat content is generous, the sauce on our dishes was a delightful blend of spices including the use of cracked cumin seeds. The side dishes are also excellent and rich in flavour. Nothing has been missed out in preparation. The whole meal experience is first class and represents good value for money

My Mexican wife and I have been going for 20 years every time we visit Solihull. The food is always good and fresh and the service excellent. We are treated as old friends every time we go.

We visited here late one Saturday night. Welcomed by staff. The menu is interesting and the staff will advise if you can't quite decide, which was welcomed by myself. Service is very good, however one member of staff stood close by overlooking whilst we ate, which was rather off putting and unnecessary.Our meals were delicious, I would recommend this place for friendly service and an interesting menu.

Eat here every couple of weeks, service and food standard never falters. Staff are excellent and happy to suggest different dishes to your taste. Didn't book a table this evening (Wednesday) although I would advise to as popular restaurant with lots of regular customers.

We hadn't visited this restaurant for some time and couldn't work out why we left it so long between visits. We went for dinner on a Friday when it was extremely busy. It is a pleasantly decorated restaurant and the service and food were both excellent. I had the Tandoori mixed platter for £10.50.My partner also very much enjoyed the Chicken Saagwala.We definitely won't leave it as long before we visit again.

Each time i go to Solihull my friends take me to this restaurant and i am never disappointed, despite trying a different dish each time.We had 4 different dishes between us and shared all of them between us. The Tandoori chicken was superb, moist and tasty, the buttered chicken was creamy and the other two dishes (which i cannot spell so will not try) were also absolutely delicious.

Went to indian dream early evening while it was fairly quiet.What can i say other than fantastic food and service.Highly recommended

These guys are the best in the business for service. Food is quality scoring an 9/10 for food and 10/10 for service. Couldn't ask for a better local !

Early evenings are best as the service is not rushed and you get plenty of attention though never intrusive. As fairly regular customers maybe we get special treatment but no complaints about that. Long may it continue. Never had a bad experience. Menu is fairly standard Indian but none the worse for that. Recommended.

We found Indian Dream several years ago and now, whenever we come to Birmingham for the theatre or an exhibition, make a pint of stopping for a meal. The food is always very good and the staff friendly and attentive. The style is different to what we are used to in London so it is nice to try a variation on a theme. The décor is eclectic and the ladies very clean. We look forward to more meals there.

General conduct of manager and staff regarding a complaint about foreign bodies in the food namely " long black hair " which was displayed in front of me and my friend over the top of another meal. Only explanation they offered that it "didn't come from the kitchen "
