Quite nice decor but disappointing food and service.

Mixed bag. Decor a bit tired and basic. Staff very friendly and helpful. Ordered onion bhaji (one was rock hard- sent it back) and side salad crisp and fresh. Beef madras (beef tender, curry sauce seemed from a jar but ok), boiled rice (perfect). Coffee after hot and enjoyed. Fine but not the best

Food was disgusting chicken bloody and black asked why it was bloody and black . Guy brings a tub of chicken which he put his uncovered hands in and picked chicken out and said they were all the same

Came with my girlfriend had a amazing experience. The butter chicken and chicken tikka mossala are to die for. Will be returning soon as it is well worth it.

Fantastic experience,staff very friendly nothing too much trouble .Atmosphere and cleanliness was exceptional. We all had different starters and main courses ,the food was not and delicious .The Chicken Rogan Josh was one of the best I have eaten for a very long time We would definitely recommend to all our friends and family. We will definitely return hopefully very soon .

We would not recommend this place. The tall guy, who we assume was the manager, had zero customer service skills and was actually quite rude. The place felt unclean, it was cold. The food was cold and bland. The popadoms were stale. Unfortunately, we don’t have a positive thing to say about our experience. We’ll be sure to wait for the Radhuni opening in future which is always exceptional.

🥘INDIAN BRASSERIE SHEILDS🥘 Another one ticked off the list for ocean Road Indians. One of the smaller more traditional resteraunts. Service was great! Tikka jalfrezi and chicken pathia were both 9/10 absolutely spot on no complaints. The rice was good, spicy chips could have done with more flavour and nan bread was actually delicious! Didn't catch a picture of mic kebab but the lamb and chicken tikka were both 10/10 Great prices too! @scranbibles insta

NOT INDIAN AT ALL. shameless bangladeshi restaurant. pathetic food. 7.50 for a chili prawn tasteless starter with 3 prawns. mango lassi was a joke. chicken biryani was pilau with raisins 😡 Dear Indian food lovers please stay away from this.

My partner and I had a lovely experience here tonight. The staff were so welcoming and lovely. The food was delicious, the set vegan menu had so many brilliant options, one of the better vegan menus i've ever experienced. Very well priced and the wine was absolutely delicious too. A true 10/10 dining experience, would definitely recommend (especially if you're vegan/vegetarian)

Great food, great food, great atmosphere

Me and my friend are looking for a restaurant with a vegan menu until we stumble upon this family owned restaurant. The service was fantastic and gave you the same warmth as a family would welcome you in there home. Their food set a standard since it was my first time trying an Indian food. The vegan menu is a cherry on top cause my friend is vegan.

Came here last year, returned with my family. The food and service are just how I remember, excellent.

Totally amazing. This is the best curry I've had in over a year!....No seriously. I went to Cafe India the other day....that too was a great meal. I'd say 9/10.....but The Indian Brasserie is definitely a 10/10 for sure. I had their Beef Balti....so tasty man.

We were driving through shields and decided to ask if we could order a takeaway, from the Indian Brasserie, 20 minutes later and £29 lighter we took our food home. The onion bhajis just tasted plain, no spice at all, the chicken korma was watery, again with no flavour, with large pieces of chicken that tasted of nothing, obviously thrown in at last minute. The pilau rice that was ordered was just plain boiled rice with a few peas thrown in. This was my meal, my husband also said his chicken tikka meal was tasteless, we were both hungry but still couldn't eat our meals. A big let down.

Best food around. Always welcoming and ways leave with a smile and a full stomach.

Came to Indian Brasserie with my family the other day and the food was tremendous. Couldn’t fault it one bit. Can’t wait for my next visit to South Shields, also my next visit to this establishment x

We had a fantastic meal last night. The service and friendliness is top class, as is the adherence to covid 19 regulations. Great value for money and such a nice restaurant. If you're in town, feeling peckish, pop in for a meal, you'll not be disappointed. 10/10

Came here with my friends and all I can say is the food was unreal, by far the best I’ve had on ocean road, waiters were magnificent and great service was provided, will definitely be coming back again.

Went here on bank holiday Monday pop was flat and tasteless and the meal was the same had better takeaways would expect better quality and taste it was very poor very bland and won’t be returning !!!!

I haven't been to this restaurant for a few years, but recently visited it. While the decor has changed, the quality of the food and service hasn't, it was and still is really good. The staff were friendly and attentive. I won't be leaving it so long between visits in the future.

Started off horrendous should of walked out when we first went in due to no social distancing in the waiting room packed out !!! Table layout nooootbad Only Stayed due to being starving 😂.. 1st pint sent back not 1 bubble flat as a .... next ones the same but put up with them only drank a inch out !! Got half of lemonade it sat the like water !! The food ! Pickles and poppadoms nice, but Only giving it 1 stair for the starter as that was eatable but just warm, Currys nothing like a Parthia or saga !! Bland didn’t bother taking picks ! just won’t be back sorry and would not recommend

I visited this restaurant on a Wednesday night after the COVID-19, 50 % offer. It was around 9.30 Pm and every restaurant on Ocean Road was really busy.Anyway I walked in and the host said He didn’t have a table available for me. I took a seat and a table was found as it was really busy.I will say the staff were excellent and very accommodating.I ordered my grub and it was served excellently, and was top notch, I will return to this establishment again, and recommend anyone.

Awesome ambient, Staff is very friendly and Food is so delicious, especially I like their cheesy Naan with Tandoori plater. Overall Very Nice restaurant, must visit at least twice a month.

We’ve been going to the Brasserie for years now (lost count) and wouldn’t go anywhere else. They are by far the best curry house in South Shields. The food is second to none and the owners and staff are very friendly!

There is no shortage of good Indian restaurants in South Shields. In fact Ocean Road does boast plenty of such establishments. What makes the Indian Brasserie my 'go-to' out and out favourite is the consistent quality and the passion which is invested in the dining experience. It is no surprise it keeps winning awards.I try and have something different each time, and each time I leave feeling I have managed to find the best thing on the menu! It is always that good, never fails.The premises are clean and in the current situation it is heartening to see the additional lengths the owners go to to ensure safety.This premises I understand is now in second generation hands and boasts a brilliant heritage. The owners have many years of providing nothing short of the best and the established feel and confidence it enjoys speaks volumes.Can I recommend something? I love the Balti Mossala. But it is all lovely! Yep, one trip and you will be hooked. Lovely place and amazing staff.

After being locked down for three months and then a busy week at work I decided to treat myself to a night off and decided to visit The Brasserie because of the friendly, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.I started with Boro Morees, the pepper was soft and sweet but still held its shape and the bhuna prawn stuffing was perfect. Then I had Tikka Shaslik for main where the chicken was perfectly cooked and the small bulbs of onions almost melted on my tongue. It was the perfect treat to myself, all served with a smile and conversation from the very helpful staff. Highly recommend.

My husband and I are generally weekly visitors to this restaurant and have really missed their fabulous food during lockdown. Service, prices and surroundings are top class. Would definitely and often do recommend to family and friends.

First time here with my partner, been to a few Indian restaurants on ocean road and decided to come here after looking at the menu when walking up ocean road, set menu was really good value so we booked up, my partner got the set menu and had garlic chicken on puru and chicken jalfrezzi, he has had better jalfrezzi but good for money value and portion size was big. I had onion Bhaji to start which were lovely, and chicken tikka biryani for main course which was massive and so tasty, also good value for money. Owner (which I presume) was very friendly and chatty. Good value for money, good portion size.

Visited the Brasserie as we usually do when we return to Shields for a visit. My brother and I are from Shields, and are pretty much very used to the types of curry you can get on Ocean Road - we have been there too many times to count (this matters, as you'll see later). Saturday night we went to sit in with my husband and my brothers' girlfriend. Starters were fine, not the best, but perfectly edible and fair for the price range - standard and expected for this area. We were asked by the manager how the food was and at the time we were happy with it and said so. Main courses arrived. This is where it went downhill. My Veg Biryani was basically a packet of Uncle Bens microwave rice with a watery tasteless sauce. Brother had a king prawn dish - good sauce, mushy prawns (never a good sign). Another dish was a rogan josh - tasty but not a rogan josh (was like a sweet and sour chinese dish - not bad, just not what was expected). Then there was the butter chicken. Wow. Nuclear chicken custard it should have been called. It was bright (nuclear bright) yellow custard (tasted like a tin of campbells custard) with some chicken in. Not good. 2 waiters asked how the food was, we told them, they shrugged, politely smiled and walked away. When we asked for the bill, I said I was not happy paying for 2 dishes we did not eat. Enter the manager. Instead of just saying sorry you didnt enjoy it, we got "this is what real indian food is, it is different indian food in south shields, as you dont live here you will not know this, I own this street and all of the restaurants are the same". As we tried politely to say this is not the level we are used to (anywhere, not just in Shields) he just kept saying that it was our fault for not knowing what the dishes should taste like! Anyway, he went away with our bill, then sent one of the poor waiters back with it and asked us to pay the full price. We refused. Manager came back, said he would take a tenner off for us, and that we should leave and not come back. No danger of that mate! All of this drama could have simply been non existent if he had just have said "sorry, take 10% off" straight away, rather than actually arguing with us and saying the below par food was our fault as we did not know how these things should taste. Having been a fairly regular visitor to this place over the years, it's definitely safe to say that none of the family will be back.

A lovely curry after a few afternoon drinks. We each had a tasty starter and main from the specials menu. I had a pepper stuffed with tasty prawns before doubling up on the prawns with a king prawn bhuna. I’d definitely recommend.

Ordered food 6 years ago.... Still waiting.... Hot meat was nice... But a bit hot. Seriously I have had birthdays come round sooner than the food from this paper napkin providing establishment. Also £1.95 for a pack of 12 water bottles in Asda or you can buy one for the same price in here. Manager found it funny that we waited an hour and a half... However jokes on him as we only bought one round of drinks. We decided to skip ice cream as they had not yet milked the cows. Food was very nice in the end however we didn't expect to be served this to us closer to breakfast time than dinner time. Ps your sign is broke....unless you changed the name of your restaurant to n brassiere?

Good polite service with quick drinks, and a plate of poppadoms on the house; a great start. Food was served in good time and my 3 guests and myself were very satisfied with a good quality meal. We will eat here again,

I can't believe that I've never got around to writing a review for this restaurant.It's actually our most visited place!We went again last Friday night to celebrate our sons 30th birthday and as usual, we had a great time. The place was packed, which is always a good sign!I had booked ahead of time as we needed a child seat for our grandchild. When we arrived, the table was set and the chair was in place.As always, the food was exceptional and the staff were helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They made the whole experience very special.Will we return?..........yeah.......lots of times...:-) CheersDavy !!!

Popped out for a meal last minute, the staff here are all lovely, the food was beautifully cooked and the presentation was very good, the place is immaculate and the decor high quality, there was lots of authentic dishes to choose from, we tried the set menu and we're impressed , this is the best on ocean Road, the cost was an extremely low fifteen pounds each including drinks.... Why go anywhere else??

Ocean Road in South Shields has many indian restaurants. However, one of our favourites is the Indian Brasserie which has never disappointed.

Went to Braserie 8/6 for a birthday meal with family, might started great, starters tasty, main course came and was cold, waiter apologied and took 4 meals back to reheat. Medals returned to be still like warm. Felt sorry for waiters. 3 meals untouched as ha been reheated 3 times, asked to speak to manager/owner who said food is cooked fresh and couldn’t be cold called me a liar. Funny how food went back 3 times but is fresh, manager didn’t even Offer apology or anything off the bill. I’ve ate here for over 25 years but never Beem treated like this before. I will never eat there again

Went for a birthday meal last night. There were 8 adults, a 4 year old and a 10 month old. Requested a high chair. I’m glad I took my detail wipes. I’m all for bad bacteria, but it looked like the once white straps had been smeared in poo. Disgusting! The night was terrible. Meals had to be sent back as they were cold. Asked to speak to manager after the second time they were sent back who stood and argued with my family saying we were liars. Not one to usually complain and I also know this is not the way to treat customers. Been going over 25 years and not been in a while. New management is terrible. Felt sorry for the waiters. Wasn’t their fault but the manager put it on them. Wasn’t even offered discount for the meals sent back won’t return. Vile behaviour by management!

We fancied a meal out instead of cooking but couldn't decide where to go or what to eat. We stumbled across Indian Brasserie and thank God we did!!! The food was unreal, it came out piping hot, the service was second to none. Only got to take a pic of the starters because the food was so good I totally forgot to take a pic of the main!!! We ordered the Prawn Supreme my partner had the Tikka Paneer to start. Delicious!!! We will definitely be visiting again and hopefully one will be opened in hebburn asap!!

We visited South shields on the last bank holiday Monday and it was a cold and rainy day, so not too good for a beach visit.

This restaurant represents extremely good value. We were a table of 14 for just a family get together and to get that many dishes out hot, at the same time and correctly is not easy but not a problem for these guys, super friendly and super professional. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for large group bookings. The Special menu at 7.95 for starter, main, rice and coffee is exceptional and there is plenty of choice which you don't always find on set menus. The prawn on puri was very good and mushroom pilau and jalfrezi chicken really good. With the poppadoms we got a gorgeous onion, coriander and tomato chutney which I could have eaten the whole bowl of!

Food good but our partners thought beer was weak in flavour! House wine as did not want to purchase bottle was absolutely disgusting even the other samples meant to resemble Chardonnay or Pinot tasted very odd!we purchased a bottle in the end which was not much better looking up price when we got back not suprising as a very cheap wine .when will you learn that quite a few people do know their wines &you; really do need to buy in a decent wine people are not fooled!

Food good but the restaurant was a bit cold

Absolutely disgusted at treatment that myself little boy of 3 and friend received last night by the staff. After paying the bill the waiter said that there was mess left by son ie rice etc .We were then told police had been called and was subjected to verbal abuse by the manager/waiters. They then said If we pay £25 for cleaning we could go. Because I was humiliated and wanted to get home with my son I paid it. My friend rang the police and no police had been called. It is clearly a scam and I'm so upset at the abuse that we got. Will never ever go back to the place there are plenty of other decent Indian restaurant s on that road and I wouldn't eat there again out of principle

My friend was charged £25.00 for her 3 year old son spilling rice on a wipeable seat. We were held in the restaurant under false pretenses of the police being called. The management insulted my friend and a string of issues occurred and the owner of this restaurant exploits women. We also have a voice recording of the insults and the appropriate action is in progress. This restaurant is not child friendly and we feel if we had male company with us, we wouldn't of been treated so appealing.

On the £9.95 specials menu, there is a very good choice of dishes. The onion bhajis are particularly tasty. The curry’s are very flavoursome. The chips are excellent!! We really like the food in here and the service is good. It has a nice atmosphere too. Highly recommended.

Myself and friends were celebrating a birthday, this is by far the best Indian restaurant I have ever been in, food was absolutely superb, great portions and really awesome service and staff, couldn't believe all the food and drinks we had came to less than £20 a head, I will definitely be going again soon, a perfect evening, grateful thanks to Chef and staff!

Last minute trip from Glasgow and after a great afternoon at the adventure park we decided to take a walk up ocean road. So many restaurants to choose from but I’ll tell you we were glad we chose the Indian Brassiere. The interior was well set out and very clean. We had a superb level of service throughout our visit and were made to feel welcome and relaxed. Started of with some popadoms and dips, fantastic start. The chicken pakora was out of this world, would definitely recommend. I had the Chillli Chicken Tikka Masala, wow, it was the best I have ever had, I have tried lots in my time and this definitely set a standard. The Mrs had Chicken Tikka wnd again it was superb. We paid £60 for a family of four which included a couple of drinks for the kids and us. Fantastic service, outstanding food and service to match. We’ll definitely be back if we’re in South Shields again. Thanks guys
