Went on Friday night 7pm with no booking. Place was full half an hour later. Ordered starters and mains but too full for dessert. The large naans are huge. Food was great, service excellent will go again

As a stranger to Laughton the India grill was a real find with friendly and attentive staff who explained my choice of meal. Chicken Haandi was delivered to my table sizzling hot and consisted of tandoori chicken pieces served up in a rich sauce both spicy and flavoursome. It was a very generous portion and tasted delicious. With a starter of both veg and lamb samosas in paper thin pastry I went on my way well satisfied.

I had a wonderful meal at India Grill the other day. Apparently, it is the oldest Indian restaurant in Buckhurst hill. and run by the same family since opening. A real family-affair as there appeared to be three generations present, all helping out (the two-year-old there for cuteness value). The service was impeccable and friendly. As always, I ordered the Bengun Bhaji, Tarka Dall and a chappati. Great flavours all round. Could not fault it. I will go again. Highly recommended.

When we fancy a indian meal this is the place we always go to Mo the owner always welcomes you with a big smile and like he knows you ( and if he doesnt then next time you will feel like he does 👌) fast efficient service and my first time trying a different dish to my usual bhuna /dopiaza from other indians i have been to, i told mo what i like spice wise and he recommended the chicken pashto which was indeed the perfect pick for me and i will be ordering again next time im in loughton thankyou Mo ( i live in spain but always look forward to a good indian meal here when im back in the uk recomend you give this place a try if you are in loughton 👍

What a fantastic restaurant, by far the best in Loughton and surrounding area. My partner Terry and I, our second visit and again we were not disappointed. I visited the India Grill a few weeks ago, as it was a Sunday and very late, but we wanted to get something to eat, but all the restaurants were closed along Loughton High Road. We came upon the India Grill, which I understand was the first ever Indian Restaurant in Loughton, and we were pleasantly surprised. We explained that we were happy to find somewhere open at that time of night on a Sunday and found the owner very welcoming. We chose one meal but couldn’t decide on the other, so the owner suggested the Punjabi Butter Chicken, which we agreed to. We also ordered some nan bread and samosas. When the food arrived everything was perfect, the Punjabi Butter Chicken was the best dish I have ever eaten at an Indian restaurant and thanked the owner for recommending this to us - it was so flavoursome and moreish. We had a very enjoyable evening. On Saturday, 19th August, we returned, especially for the Punjabi Butter Chicken! We were a group of 3 this time, and as well as the chicken we chose prawns and another lamb recommendation. We also had the Peshwari Naan bread, which was filled with desiccated coconut and was delicious; it was the first time I had tasted this. The staff, who I believe are family members, took the time to explain what we would be getting, made sure we were happy with our choices and again the food, service and atmosphere were perfect. The owners remembered us from our previous visit and even offered us complimentary drinks. This is the perfect place for good food that is freshly prepared to order and reasonably priced. We do not live in Loughton, but would definitely travel back there again as the food is just amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Such a wonderful first visit to The India Grill this evening. Staying in Loughton for a few days I was dining alone but have seen the place packed at the weekend - so it must be good! You'd hope so - the family have run the business from these premises since 1970 and it's currently listed as the No2 best Indian Restaurant in the whole of Essex. I ventured inside on a snowy, cold and miserable December Monday and I'm so pleased I did. The Owner, Mo and his family gave me a lovely warm-welcome. My order; Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi, Keema Rice, Onion Bhaji. All came, promptly, piping hot, fresh and with beautiful levels of flavour and spicing. Perfect portion size (a decent sized meal)...not too much, not too little. Excellent value. Will be back again, next time with my wife!

Not very happy to write this but being this was out very first order ever in London we were highly disappointed ☹️. The chicken dish was sweet with added sugar and kishmish / Vitis Vinifera as toppings. Never had such palak paneer before. Maybe we misread the description but for us it had to be a gravy rather than a dry dish. Would never recommend any Indian to try food from here.

I hadn’t been in here for years but was looking for a walk in restaurant that had a table available for a Saturday evening. Well I’m glad I did as the food excellent. Although the menu didn’t have my go to Indian dish the owner Mo said that his kitchen could cook anything that I wanted but in the end I was tempted by the Punjabi butter chicken (hotter than the British version) which is also available on the menu. Service was very good indeed, friendly and relaxed and the bill was very good value. Although there are increasingly more flashier eateries in Loughton these days you won’t find a more honest one.

She poured 2 beers with huge heads. Under the counter she poured them back and fourth to produce 1 pint that was 3/4 full. I would have complained but it took so long to be served and get the drink I decided to settle for what I was given Food also took ages to come. This was a suprise as the restaurant wasn't busy. However it was quite tasty although nothing special. Would I recommend? If nothing else is available then you will get a reasonable meal here.
