We were visiting Torquay for the day to see family and had seen this place before, never had the chance to eat here so decided to have dinner on the way home. WOW!! Absolutely amazing! The food is fresh, tasty and there is such a choice.I am vegan and lots of dishes for me to choose from, love the fact that the yoghurt that is served with the poppadoms is plant based. Great service too, highly recommended and we will be back!

My wife and I visited on the 15.8.24 to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. We were taken to our table and served drinks promptly. Drinks weren't overly pricey but we were a little disappointed that the restaurant didn't serve cocktails despite their advertising photos showing a range of them. We ordered starters of poppadoms, dips, onion bhajis and chicken gyozas. These arrived promptly and we're absolutely delicious. The gyozas were crispy, flavoursome and came with a small salad garnish and a sweet chilli dip, the bhajis were crispy and full of flavour and came with a mint dip, and the poppadoms were light, plentiful with no grease and partnered with mint yoghurt and mango chutney dips. The mains came out around 10 minutes after our starters had been cleared away. My wife ordered a mix grill with a bhuna sauce and naan bread (slightly disappointed in the lack of flexibility regarding the naan choice - my wife requested a cheese naan but was told there was no changing the garlic/plain option - we wouldn't have even minded a small surcharge to have this changed but this wasn't offered). The meat on the mixed grill was beautiful, the lamb melted in the mouth, the chicken was moist and well spiced, the kofte had some suitable kick, tasted delicious and looked wonderful, the wings were full of meat and again well spiced. The bhuna sauce was the perfect accompaniment to this selection. I ordered the North Indian Fry curry with Lamb and Pilau Rice. This was a really well balanced sauce, again the meat was melt on the mouth and the rice was cooked to perfection. Portion size was spot on and I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. The bill came with gratuities included but it was made very clear that this was voluntary. We were happy to pay this as the staff were attentive, friendly and approachable. Overall, a very good dining experience only slightly let down by the lack of cocktails and lack of flexibility in the options. We would be happy to revisit in the future!

Bad food not good service atmosphere bad

Excellent from start to finish. Warm welcome & taken to our table which already had drinks & food menus. Drinks order taken straight away & served quickly. We had popadoms & dips to start, then a lamb & chicken curry which were served in lovely bowls. We had two bowls of rice which was too much, plus naan bread. Food was delicious. Jacob, Phoebe & Hani were delightful staff. We will go back again.

We saw this restaurant on come dine with me and liked the look of it and it didn't disappoint us. The restaurant itself was lovely and the lighting and decor were to our liking, the servers were absolutely lovely and the service was great. The food was amazing and you can tell they use quality produce, the pappadums were so light as were the naan breads. Light background music led to a very pleasant evening, the best meal of our trip. We are considering returning to Torquay next year and would definitely come here again and would definitely recommend

The front of house staff was amazing, she was so busy on her own but still managing to give attention to all tables. The food was delicious and not traditional Indian. The Korean bbq chicken was yum, my 9yr olds favourite!

I went to dine here on the ratings and reviews , in my opinion it was very average . The curry sauce was in my opinion the same used in both dishes , The Makani Massala and the North Indian Fry Bhuna . They just had a different garnish . I am a great lover of Indian cuisine and part of catering and I could barely distinguish between these 2 dishes . In reference to your reply , I appreciate your server accepting us as you had “just” opened , but I’m sure that you know , in catering , you never let your guard drop , as in , if food doesn’t come up to temperature, then it doesn’t get served , as you well know . But I’m sure that if you look closely at the dishes I was served , they were very similar sauces used . The milder one was sweeter , but visually the same sauce . I have been in the food trade for many years , and I think I’m quite a good judge of “good food” , but I’m afraid on this occasion you did not come up to standard . I’m sure that as an Asian person , you would know what authentic food looked and tasted like .

OMG... the first bite of our starters and we were in heaven! So fresh, so delicious!! We had the Samsosa Chaat and Chicken Dumplings. 🤌🤌 then the mains... beautifully marinated meat, we had the Get Grilly with It lamb and chicken. Other fusion foods looked amazing a great menu with lots to offer. The decor was delightful and the team there very amenable. We did ask for recommendations and our server was a little unsure and there were no specials to offer, which was a shame. We love a recommendation. It was busy but no one was waiting or rushed. We heard other tables tlakijg about how much they loved it there and they were genuinely excited to be returning for the food. I'm just sad they are so far away that we can't be regulars!!

From start to finish the service the food and very thing was great, the menu was explained and allowed us to make a decision on what we wanted to eat The problem was that was so many amazing dishes. The poppadoms were amazing as was the mixed grill I had for main If you want a great experience then go here for a meal

Food was perfectly pleasant, however we eat out a lot and enjoy many different cuisines. The flavours weren't quite there as we were expecting. The reponse to this review was inaccurate received from Rehan. This was not our order.

Amazing food only thing I could say that was not so good was the toilets in need of a female touch and a good air freshener apart from that it was amazing .

Made very welcome by Seb, he helped with the ordering with being very knowledgeable of the different juices. Food was beautiful will definitely return the next time in Torquay. The decor is beautiful the music light and not overwhelming. The only constructive criticism I have, is the toilets they were a little smelly. Maybe a nice air freshener and maybe some flowers. They lacked a female touch. Overall well done and thank you for a lovely experience

Brilliant as always! I am normally full by the end of the meal but today we shared a slice of blondie cheesecake, and it was just as delicious as the rest of it

As a local I have always wanted to visit this restaurant and I booked a table. I am sure we will not be going back after our first visit. The food was very disappointing because the rice was come out of the microwave from a packet. The owner came out and re-assured me that the food has no colouring it and all is natural. The owner lied in my face. What comes out of him mouth and what he presented on the table are 2 different things. They charged £7 for a cobra beer. The menus has many food choices you don't know what to order even. Korean, Chinese and Japanese food menue. How can food stay fresh with so many options on the menu. ( We still got indigestion from this restaurant 4h post meal). The poppadom was all small chopped up came out of the packet from the supermarket, not home made as claimed. There was no onion chutney at all and the other chutney came out of jar from supermarket , again not home made. The rice was 4 spoonful charged at £4. The rice is the one comes in the microwave packet. The rice was not pilau rice. They sprinkled a few cumin seeds to portray the authenticity. The deal is the world worst deal I have ever tasted. How can these people don't know to cook a deal?? This place serving you food as if we don't know anything about the food or how food should taste. Other people were blissfully unaware of the food they were eating. Seemingly dissatisfied. This restaurant thrives on the culinary ignorance of others. The bill was over £100 we had enough food to come to this conclusion. The owner is full of himself. He claims to be the head of UK Asia food fusion union whatever claim to fame. Save your money and buy a pot noodle. At least that will be served hot.

A tasty meal which was organic and vegan friendly. The management could not have done more to help us out with the intolerance concerns. Although, the coke was missed for gluten as it has Barley.

Hi, Really bad service the food was cold came in under 5 mins and as we payed our bill they charged us vat like we have pay vat for food now because every Restaurant we go we don’t pay vat so I don’t get it thank you

Menu is diverse, expect Asian food as opposed to traditional British Indian restaurants. A fusion of great Asian dishes and some Indian favourites. Give this place a go, you won’t be disappointed.

My wife and I consider ourselves curry connisseurs and wherever we go we are on the lookout for a good curry....we'll look no further...Indi-Yang is exceptional. The starters were beautiful (Rawalpindi paneer and samosa chaat) the flavours were just great. Main meals were lamb Malay and chicken Dansak (spiced up) OMG it was heaven...the lamb was way beyond amazing. There aren't the superlatives to reflect how good this meal was. Thank you guys especially Seb who served us and talked us through the menu with total expertise. We will be back.

I would say that Indi-Yang is the best place for lovely curry. The food is delicious and you can taste everything that is freshly prepared. The atmosphere is relaxed and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. The staff are tentative and we were made most welcome. I definitely will be returning. There's lots of free parking on the road outside too.

The food was really good, good flavours, really well presented, really enjoyed the options available for starters and main course. Would have liked to have seen more desserts on the menu. The front of house are really young, and offer exceptional service, a real credit to the restaurant.

Nice restaurant, wonderful fusion of flavours and will be an annual visit when in Torquay for us. Service & food info by Becky was fabulous and she really made our experience most memorable. The Malay Lamb curry was awesome 🤩

Food was okay for what it was but nothing Indian about it to be honest. Seemed like almost microwave quality and like a English interpretation of Indian food. The main thing I disliked is the fact they add a 10% tip onto the bill already which you can remove and I did remove because I feel like a tip is to be given if the customer would like too and not having their hand forced because they feel awkward not wanting to pay.

Another fantastic dinner at Indi-Yang Skillfully prepared with thought through flavours. A dedicated waiting team and great customer service. The menu is well designed with choices for different palates. Obviously will be back.

I've been eating Indian food for 30.years and this was one of the best I've had.

Amazing flavours. The menu is a fusion of all over Asia with a slight twist. Incredible use of spices both authentic and innovative. A wonderful taste experience. Our favourite dishes were the Malaysian mussels was awesome as was Chaat and Pepper Squid. A highlight of our experience was discussing the various dishes with the chef and learning about the exotic spices he used.

Best curry in 20 years. Great service to match.

Friendly staff, delicious food, beautiful ambience

We took a take away this evening. The food arrived on time and it was what we ordered however we were not happy with the portion of prawns in the curry. We count 4. 😂Considering that it cost £16.00 we didn't think it was a good value. The sticky rice came in a baby portion but less then half of what you would expect in a normal take away container. We also had curry Malay- Yang that was delicious and good portion as well. Maybe we haven't had any luck with the curry Zal Zal Nagal but I would expect more vegetables or meat/fish in a curry just to distinguish a curry from a simple spice soup!! :)

Really nice. Came here 4 months ago when visiting a friend in Devon and came again last night. Awesome food, a nice blend of Asian food. So far everything I’ve tried is absolutely spot on. Excellent food, excellent service and nice staff.

This is not Indian cuisine and typical Bangladeshi food with Chinese blend where this is more towards the sweeter side. I have to say that the service by the boys in the restaurant is admirable. However, my opinion of the food that I had are as follows. I would also like to commend on the way the food was presented and served in the table to a high standard. My menu - Visit 2Aug23 Starter - Chat and Pepper - Chicken, Vegetable with pepper was good and different. Main course - North Indian Fry lamb - Very bland and more sweet. The lamb pieces were put into a standard gravy, well decorated made to look good. Side dish - Spicy Noodles - Please don’t even try this as I have had better street food. This is absolutely covered with sweet. Indi-Yang chef have to work on this as this is not even close to Indo-Chinese dish and I have to really leave entirely after tasting. Garlic Nan - I believe, there is no tandoor in this restaurant as there is no Roti in the menu and the Nan is off the market heated with butter and served. Wine and Halwa Tart - Acceptable I can understand that this is not an Indian restaurant and more inclined into fusion of Indian and Chinese/Thai and more suitable for people who just like to try spicy food with a twist of sweetness in it and feel happy that they have tried Indian. Good luck for the fusion style for Indi-Yang team. This is just my view without prejudice. I would recommend to ask the customer if they would like to be in a sweeter side or spicer side.

Shocked to be informed that this restaurant doesn't allow children under 11. In a tourist location where people bring their children on holiday and you can't take them for food! Unbelievable

Food was awful meat was tasteless we all left it.

£46 order. Tiny, tiny portions. Everything tasteless and just chilli (presumably to make up the lack of flavour. Absolutely avoid. Complete and utter rip off.

All round incredible experience! Food was super super tasty, all meat cooked to perfection and incredible quality! Can’t believe I haven’t been sooner and can’t wait to go again… so glad it’s on my doorstep!

Always had a good experience at Indi Yang and also the previous incarnation Bombay Express (just to note: the older photo with the chips, those curries (and chips) have sadly been taken off the menu, ***HOWEVER*** the other 2 pictures I’ve posted are hopefully more up-to-date !) I’m very surprised at some of the low scores on here, but personally my wife and I absolutely loved it enough to go for “2” evening meals on our honeymoon (August 2022) Thank you guys :)

I may have found my new favourite Takeaway. I ordered from here the other day, and it was awesome. The food was delicious and not super expensive. I ordered a vegan Curry that was amazing and the naan bread was perfect. I recommend giving these guys a try!

One of our faves. First time trying some dishes from the new menu and we were not disappointed. Starters of Oriental Mushroom Bao Buns, Fishcake Tikki, Samosa Chaat and Thai Sea Bass were all excellent (in pics) Forgot to take pics of the mains but the new Punjabi Pancakes were fabulous. We had the king prawn and pulled beef. The Special Fried Rice with mock chicken was a great vegan dish. Fantastic food and service.

Delicious food not expensive at all

For this kind of blend of Indian and Eastern cuisine I would have expected a lot more choice. Some of the curries were a bit contrived and pretentious but the flavours were there. A special rice with barely any rice is disappointment no matter how well its cooked. A green curry or pad thai definitely would have fitted nicely in the menu. It's OK if you're hungry bit don't expect to be wowed if you've ever experienced good Indian and Thai food before.

Dispointing a poor representation of the cultures they advertise! curry was like a soup and watery ... having read other comments completely understand where they are coming from and should have heed their warning , we were not offer plates to separate food so was just like eating a spicy soup worst Buna I have ever had !baby food covering a chicken breast!... service was good and the lady was very helpful food was disappointing don't waste ya money go else where !

Fantastic food always fresh and tasty. Dahal to die for. I have visited in may occasions and always find it exquisite. Book in advance if you can. I will be dining here again. Strongly reccomended for people which love freshly cooked food and as for vegetarian dishes has a variety of moch meet which is very tasty.

If you're looking for a random and simple restaurant. Indi Yang is not the place. Prepare yourself to raise the bar and go far beyond what you're used to, because you'll find friendly staff, comfy environment and every single detail carefully thought to make your experience unforgettable. The food is made for you to feel well and never sick. But trust me, you'll have more reasons than just the food to come back.

Absolutely dreadful. The blandest food I have ever had, not worth it! I had the Sag Paneer and the paneer tasted like water, it was filled with a tomato flavour. This restaurant needs to learn how to make this dish, the spinach is meant to be mixed in a blender not loose in the dish. It’s a green dish not red! Please please please learn how to make it!

Great local find. Modern and relaxed vibe, good service and fabulously falvoursome food that is beautifully presented. Highly recommend. Also lots of veggie options. We will def be back.

Nice food came here on holiday best in the area

The dansak was OK my partner had the Bangladeshi curry. They were OK but not spectacular initially placed downstairs at the foot of the stairs it was cold and draughty we ask if we could be moved upstairs, which they were OK with and it was very warm up there.

The concept is great with the variety of food on offer, but the execution was poor. The surroundings are drab and lack atmosphere. Some of the sides were very nice but the main courses were mediocre, overpriced and with small portions. Service was ample, although not sure that the staff should be chewing gum when taking an order. By all means give it a go, but I’ll not be back.

Disappointed for the price. I had high hopes for the restaurant. Great menu, great decor but unfortunately the green Thai noodles has 3 King prawns, few tiny shreds of salmon and a few bits of pepper and mange tout. Mostly noodles. A shame for £15. Flavours were great.

Wonderful food and friendly staff, the only thing I would say is that the staff on bringing the menu explain what offers are on, as we made our choice then found out about two for one offer.

I have eaten at Indi Yang 3 times now and will keep going back for more! The food is delicious and fresh, great selection and fantastic ambiance in the restaurant. Superb!

Our first visit, excellent service, we got a warm welcome and seated quickly. The staff looked after us very well. The food was delicious and great portions, we enjoyed every bite. Loved the nann bread. Can't wait to visit again and try something new from the menu.

We've eaten at Indi-yang a few times now and every visit the food and the service is outstanding. I'm a member of Torbay Vegans and have posted a recommendation on their Facebook page and tell anyone who will listen that they have to come. There is a wide range of vegan options on the menu which is why Indi-yang is my favourite restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience every time.

Fabulous tasty food, will be back!

I ordered tonight as I really fancied an Indian. I had been finding it hard to find a decent Indian restaurant in torquay. but wow I was really impressed with my food this evening it was lovely!! The chicken was nice and tender & my madras sauce was full of flavour & wasn’t full of loads of oil like most places. It had a touch of class about my order with glass coke bottle and the nice and tidy portions. It’s just what I wanted. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Visited for the second time today (party of two) and, as the menu is full of amazing sounding stuff, took the opportunity to try the omakase option which is a Japanese tradition where the customer puts their dining in the hands of the chef. The options chosen were excellent, we had the Thai fishcake and prawn skewers to start and then a Thai curry for the main along with a salmon and spinach curry that we couldn't find on the menu or the specials board so may have been an on the spot creation as we'd mentioned an affinity for fish. If it was, it is highly deserving of a regular place as it was wonderful. Finished it all off with a nicely balanced chocolate brownie that avoided the usual concern of being too sweet and stodgy and a Peschurro, a mix of a peshwari naan and a churro the size of a steering wheel. Left feeling fed well in all respects as we cautiously moved our stuffed bodies back home, would heartily recommend their eat in and takeout options.

This restaurant is a real gem. Most importantly, the food tastes fantastic, chosen from a very interesting menu. The service is amazing (the staff will even invent a menu for you, given broad guidelines), and the decor looks smart and spotlessly clean. Highly recommended!

Bardzo miła obsługa, niestety kuchnia trochę gorzej, samosa z sosem to raczej jogurtowy sos z drobinkami ciasta, a krewetki nie były dobrze oczyszczone i smażone na szybko, nie miały posmaku sosu w którym pływały, same sosy i ich konsystencja bardzo dobre. Chlebek naan bardzo smaczny, niestety kuchnia indyjska nie spełniła moich oczekiwań.

Very good food, excellent service

Portion sizes for the basics aren't as you would expect. onion baaji were the same as the super market selection pack, crackers were £4 for 8.... Should have picked them up at the chinese a few doors down. Main dishes were good, shame about the price and sizes of side dishes.

Asian Fusion Cuisine - highly recommended.

we visited Indi-Yang on the first day of our holiday and booked it in advance. we were extremely happy with the menu choices and the speed at which the food was made and served. we couldn't really decide what to have to had a bit of everything really. although it may seem a bit pricey, it's very good quality in our opinion and well worth it. we're only here for 4 nights but we do think we'll be back in that time. staff were all very friendly, kind and helpful too.

Excellent food and service! The North Indian Fry curry was scrumptious. My cocktail (berry mojito) was not great, a very artificial taste to it, but the food was top notch so it didn’t take away from the experience
