1st time food was great, service was slow, but went back due to food being good The last 3 times food has been really hit and miss throughout our party of five, Last night's service was diabolical, considering we were the only customers in there until 830 when another couple came in. Food wasn't great, we we're told that one dish couldn't be prepared without coriander as this would confuse the chef. 2 Rogan Josh had no flavour only heat, chicken was so tough a knife was required. Naan breads were dry, popodoms were stale. The only staff member out front went to the local shop to buy alcohol when we ordered cider. Half way through taking our food order he stopped to attend to someone else that had walked in. We will not be returning, we asked for the owner of the business to be told he wasn't available.

Service and food not great...1st and last time I'm afraid !

Would not recommend the owner doesn’t like to pay for work done on his restaurant and ripping off my friend of a lot of money from a job that he has done.

The whole meal was cold, tasteless and not worth it! When I called the restaurant all they offered me was 20% off my next order! Absolute JOKE!!! I paid nearly £40 for a meal with my mate that we didn’t even eat, and didn’t even get a refund!

Great tasting food, will definitely order again

It was mainly sauce little meat. I except better. I know inflation but this is ridiculous.

This has been our go to Indian for a long time, however this time it was a bit disappointing. the garlic nans were more like a baked crisp in texture and taste and the keema nan, although better had what seemed like a smearing of flavoured paste inside, definitely not lamb mince. overall the food is good, but definitely not up to usual standard this time round.

Got message saying driver on way at 7.05 driver arrived at 8.10.

Very slow service despite an empty restaurant. I ordered a Tiger beer, was given it half in a glass, half in a bottle and when I poured the rest of the bottle in the glass it only filled the glass 3/4s of the way- it was a pint glass and the bottle was a 640ml bottle. The beer was also completely flat, meaning this beer must've been opened a while ago and some of it already given to someone else. Food was ok, but not worth the wait or the already used beer.

We went for Christmas lunch for a change to cooking at home. It was fantastic, great food and service. Would go back to eat here again. Try it you will not be disappointed,

Food was good but no poppadoms as ordered and took a very long time from order to arrival (1 hour 40mins)

The food was very good. What let it down was the sneaky extra pricing at the end. They only offer lemonade in the little glass bottles, fine - Until the end - when you realise they charge £2.95 each. Also the Poppadoms, which were on the menu and reasonably priced - so we thought. They had the nerve to charge us for all the dips - which we didn't actually ask for. We were with 5 kids who didn't even use the dips. They charged £1.25 per dip (6 dips came with 10 poppadoms). The main meals were a good price but I shan't be going back after those hidden extra prices.

Food didn’t turn up rang the restaurant 4 times over an hour and half period, every time said it was on its way, nothing arrived 2 hours after I ordered, then jus5 eat say they will investigate and refunds not for 7 days £32 spent on something I never had and d8nt know if I get the money back

The food, when it arrived, was brilliant. But according to the app the food was delivered nearly 45 minutes before it actually was, leading me to phone the restaurant where I was told it hadn't even left! I WILL order again as the food was excellent, but next time I will collect.

Enjoyed everything, however had an item missing- the garlic cheese naan.

one of my dishes was incorrect.my imperial raj was replaced with a raj sultan which i did not enjoy.also the chips were cold.overall the quality and taste of the rest of the order was excellent.

Absolutely gorgeous! Everything was cooked to perfection! This restaurant is a hidden gem! Felt bad the guy disappeared at the door before I could tip him! But this was by far the best food I’ve eaten in a long while! Wife and kids agree! Wish I could tip!!!

Ordered a take away for the family last night. everything was on point really enjoyed it will be coming back. Staffs really nice and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Very late, 40 min. Bread is undercooked Rice is stodgy and over cooked. Called to ask how long and was told 15 mins. 40 mins after that . Nearly 2hr for a salty curry and stodgy rice :(

Food arrived late, stone cold and missing two nan breads. Its a shame as we enjoy eating at the restaurant but won't be ordering again!

Great food and you normally don't have to book. Unfortunately we had to stop using them for takeaway as there was always something missing from the order.

Vegetable samosa starter wad just 2 x dry samosas with no salad or sauce, I bet that is not the way it is served in the restaurant. The curry was cold. Not impressed

We normally use headlands spice but I thought we would have a change, my order was half an hour late and I had to stick it in the microwave when it finally arrived, considering we are only 5 minutes away this was very disappointing I won’t be going here again

The quality of the food is absolutely amazing and to top it off it’s all fairly reasonable! I highly recommend this place and would go as far as saying it’s one of , if not THE best Indian Restaurants in town! Try it for yourself…… especially any of The Lamb Dishes……… never had lamb as tender in my life!

Food was delivered on time. Driver called as requested. I was a bit disappointed having ordered us 4 different starters that there was no poppadoms, sauce or salad!!! The naan bread wasn’t really edible, it was burnt and overcooked. The curry was really tasty and good amount of heat/spice/flavour. The onion bhaji was delicious. Not sure if I’d order again though due to the accompaniments etc

Tried Imperial Raj for the first time in a while a couple of weeks ago, I must say the service was amazing and the food was simply wonderful. Chicken and mushroom biriani with vegetable curry and keema peas. The chapati were like little little naan breads. The experience was great. Tonight I intend to try home delivery, let’s see if they can produce the same quality, I’ll let you know

Can thoughrully recommend the dishes we had on a freezing cold night, had a vindaloo for the first time, wow! Thank goodness I had some creme fraise to cool my mouth, husband had madras which was lovely, nothing was left on the plate 🙂

Wish I could leave no stars.. we ordered online at 7.00pm went to collect at 7.40 and they hadn't even cooked anything yet. After waiting another 40 mins we got our food bland and tastless so disappointed 😞

Been customers for past decade, never had a bad meal. Have almost tried everything on the menu and enjoyed it all. And the chef will tailor dishes to suit if there is something you don't like.

The imperial Raj in Northampton is under new staff and the food and the service has improved alot..it worth coming to try the food and service . It has retained the traditional indian outlook but planning to carry out renovations work to add modern look to the restaurant very soon. The new Chef and waiter are very experienced and have worked in the indian restaurant for 25yrs and are knowledgeable in curry dishes and food service..less waiting time/ fast delivery and service . At least worth try...feedback is important.

The best one Indian food I have had for a very long time

The restaurant is a bit tired and dated, however I have to say the food is great!

Early was not a problem, but the quality of the food was. 1. The garlic/cheese naan was tasteless, soggy, undercooked. 2. The saag aloo was full of oil - a pool in the container. 3. The king prawn tandoori turned out to be a tub of brown coloured, greasy rice, with a few fragments of prawn, not a single whole one. Ten quid or this - daylight robbery - a disgrace. Thirty pounds for this - never again!

me likey the imperial raj, i gobble the madras down. all of these bad reviews are silly and very bad. the currys are INCREDIBLE and the chicken is succulent and juicy. i tip my hat to the owners you are doing a fantastic job.

"UPDATE* Thought we'd give them another try, wish we hadn't. Food was painfully slow. Told to pick up in 45 minutes, took double that. Things missing from the order so had to go back. At least we know why they aren't busy anymore. Visit here quite a lot. Tonight wasn't busy and yet the food took 40 minutes to be ready, no apology, not even a thank you . These days there is a massive choice for food at different restaurants. If you can't even say thank you you won't keep your customers very long. Will think hard if we'll come back or not.

Gave these another chance after a bad experience before. Wish we hadn't. Terribly slow. We were told to pick up in 45 minutes but we waited inside the restaurant for another 45 minutes. No apology. Checked order when we got to the car and it had things missing so we had to go back. Clueless. Often wondered why it's not busy anymore. Now we know.

Horrible food. No spices no taste. Prices gone up and owner is now chef and front of house. Avoid at all cost.

Here we are again. Food took 2 hours from placing order to delivery. Onion bhajis were uncooked in the middle so had to cook them in the frying pan before eating. Chicken Tikka Dhansak was tasteless, lentils not blended and nothing like what I usually get from here. Hardly any Bombay Potatoes. Chutney sauce barely covered the bottom of the pot. Vegetable curry with biryani had nearly half an onion in one piece. I've given this restaurant so many chances to get things right but nothing ever changes. Sadly this will be the last time I use them. Order at your own risk.

Lovely food if you don't mind waiting. Delivered 50 minutes late, no updates since ordering, wouldn't be so bad if warned it was going to be late. Don't bother phoning the restaurant, they won't answer as always too busy.

Food was lovely when it finally arrived but delivery was really late kept getting delayed and then we was missing two poppadoms and mango chutney off our order the restaurant did apologies when delivered the food and gave us a free bottle of wine but still a shame as the food was nice but still unhappy with the wait and missing items

2 hours waiting over the delivery time,

We ordered food at 18.35 to be told it would be delivered at 19.55, The food arrived cold and with items missing and also wrong dishes. We tried to phone the restaurant several times but there was no answer, eventually, at 20.20 we got through to be told that all deliveries had left 30 minutes ago!!!! We used Just Eat live chat which took over an hour to be told that until the restaurant confirmed delivery there was nothing they could do to help.

Awful service. I called when 15 mins late. And was told will be with us in 5-10 minutes. Another 30 mins later i called again to say the drive has just collected it and it will be with me any minute. Food arrived and was stone cold. Called them to complain to be told we will have to microwave it and when we next order he will ensure we get a little something. Appalling service and will never order from them again.

One of the best Dhansaks I have had in town. The curry's are very oily so be prepared for leaky containers but worth it for the taste. Usually something missing from the order which is a shame, happens week after week. Still highly recommended.

Took 1 hour 40 from ordering to delivery. I had to telephone restaurant to ask where order was. Arrived no salad no onions no dips no poppadoms. Food was not hot it was warm. Very disappointed as I have probably spent over £500 at this restaurant over the years

Ordered from this restaurant to be collected. When arrived at restaurant I was informed the order was cancelled, after discussing this with a member of there rude staff, I decided to go elsewhere, however I am still being charged for the order as the restaurant marked it as complete!

We are regulars at the restaurant and always very pleased with the service and food. This is the first time we ordered a takeaway from there. Food excellent as always but delivery 45 minutes late. .

Waited 2 hours from order and was not given an up date unless chased the order once 25 mins late....Shame as the food was great.
