Abington Tandoori in Northampton

Went with the kids to get a takeaway as was near-by. Can say was fantastic from the staff to the food. Plenty of variety to choose from so catered for everyone. Despite their reviews online this place is good. So do highly recommend for parents with kids my self or everyone in this case 😋

I regularly order a takeaway once a week and can highly recommend the service and food. My order always arrives early and the food is of an excellent quality

After reading the reviews I wasn’t expecting much however, everything I ordered was lovely! Arrived on time and all hot! I got some starters, chicken masala and a lamb balti! I enjoyed it all, only criticism if any was the balti was a little bit oily but didn’t bother me at all I just know some people would be put off. I would recommend them and would use them again!

We've ordered here multiple times and it's always hot, fresh and delicious. Very reasonable price & quick delivery.

Stayed in nearby hotel and decided to try this take away curry house despite low rating, as the problems weren’t to do with the food. I picked up a chicken Korma, pineapple rice, onion bhaji and all were tasty.

I have ordered food to be delivered several times from the Abington Tandoori, we have sampled several different curry dishes from the vast menu and usual starters etc, i have always found the food well cooked and tasting fabulous, the food is delivered very hot and nearly always on time, they can be a downfall of their own success, so many orders to fulfill at one time so on a very rare occasion can be a little late, but the food is well worth the wait. you don't need to go anywhere else for your indian treat.just sit back order and enjoy. i will be back soon that's for sure.

Order a takeaway from this company .The order arrived and delivered by a lady .When we opened the order there was a tandoori mix grill missing ! and the food was cold and i mean cold .we called them to explain and the man said he packed it himself and he thought the delivery driver must have taken it ??!! and that they had complaints similar before.They then said they couldn't send another one as the grill was shut down ....8pm???? so they can't process the order ..We then waited 15 mins and phoned the same order and were told it would be ready in 30 mins!!!!!!!! soooo we called and complained and were offered our money back which we are still waiting for !! Dishonest Liars Poor Service and COLD food .We are not usually people to complain but feel we have been taken for a ride by this company.£50 for incomplete and cold food !!SHAME onYOU .

They don't seem to be able to add up the price from their own menu overcharged and very underwhelming definitely would not use again or recommend

First order as recommended by Steve. Delivered on time as agreed, excellent starters, accompanying sauce, onion, Nan breads, the main course sauce fine but unfortunately the chicken was far too tough surprisingly as the chicken tikka starter was excellent. Pity.

THEY TAKE AGES TO DELIVER 2 hr wait

After years of using this place, I won't again on prinicple and neither will I recommend it. I ordered 3 meals and drinks, I recieved a message saying it was on its way and baring in mind, in the past when I've had the message the food has arrived piping hot within 10 minutes, I rang after 30 minutes to ask where my food was. I was told it was on it's way, I asked why it's taking over 30 minutes to arrive to be told the driver is delivering several in the area all in one go and it can take 45 minutes. I asked if my food has been in a car for 45 mins, will it still be hot, to which he said yes. So I waited... the food then arrived in almost exactly 45 minutes, the drinks were not available and the driver said I would be refunded, I haven't been, then we unpacked the food and everything was stone cold. There were also missing chips. I rang the restaurant and told them the whole lot was stone cold and they told me the manager would call me back about a refund. A day later...I have phoned again because I've had no call, to be told the manager is out delivering food and he'll ask him to call me when he's back. Shocking service, very disappointed, a meal I bought for convenience so I wouldn't have to clear up after a busy day, ended up with as many dishes as I'd have had cooking myself as the food all needed reheating, the omlette, thats meant to come with chips, mushrooms and onions was overcooked, shrivelled, tiny, and nothing with it at all!

I have just had delivery of my meal.. I ordered a tandoori mixed grill starter with a few other bits.. I got one piece of tandoori chicken, that is all.. one cube… pathetic for what I paid.. to cap it off.. I ordered 3x poppadom, and I got 2 and a half… My meal cost over £18 - it will be the last time I ever use these…

Really nice food in my opinion. Staff are always nice and helpful. Only ever picked up so can't comment on delivery.

Just now I have ordered a chicken korma. I have received it full of sweet in curry. Never recommend this restaurant in Northampton.

The worst takeaway I have dealth with. Food was an hour late on arriving. Two phone calls later provided absolutely no explanation or time estimate. When I requested he call the driver he returned to the phone about 5 seconds later and told me he had just spoken to him and he was on his way, still no time estimate. Staff were unhelpful all round, will never order again

Refused my order, as it obviously wasn't desirable enough for them. Extraordinary waste of time and money. Naturally I won't order again, just trying to warn others to prevent similar issues.

Ordered for the first time, the food was delicious, it came quickly, was reasonably priced and portions were good too. Definitely will order again.

Been using this takeaway for a number of years now. Think they gave a new chef. A number of starters ordered were full of cucumber!!! not sure if I will order from them again.

We have not had a curry for a while - so decided with lock down it would make a nice change.We have had food from here below and it was lovely.We were not disappointed.We had Chicken Chicken Jalfrezi - Bombay aloo - Veg Curry and lots more - it was really superb - beautiful.It is the best take away I have had in months.... yum - yum-yum

Local takeaway - serving the usual range of dishes with some interesting specialities - that has become my favourite since i moved to Northampton. The tarka dall is simply exquisite - indeed all the veggie dishes we've had have been first rate, and meat dishes have also been of the first order. Definitely a local business worth supporting!

Honestly the best place! I wish they had a restaurant you could sit in. The service is always good and they are friendly couldn’t ask for better never been later than the quoted time and the food is delicious! Please add chicken chatt as a main to the menu

been using them for a while, but the last curry the chicken came in huge cubes and was barely cooked, hence will be going eleswhere

We did a take away - the food was really lovely - Jalfrezi Chicken - various rices and bombay aloo and Veg curry - I would highly recommend the food it was delicious. The prices are really brilliant.

Last time we order from here, food was terrible. Rice was watery, curry had no flavour. Called to complain only to be laughed at down the phone. If your ordering a tandoori avoid this place. I would recommend cooking it yourself or ordering from far cotton tandoori.

We had a take away tonight from here and it was the worst takeaway we have had. All of our food - bar the chicken pakora has gone into the bin. We ordered a Lamb Bhuna, Saag Paneer, Keema Naan, Meat Samosas and Chicken Pakora. The lamb bhuna had a thick layer of red grease and oil laying across the top of it. Even when I tried to drain it off it seemed to come back, the lamb was also a very weird green/grey colour and was very fatty. When you got to the sauce it was almost powdery, and I’m not sure how considering it sat under all of the oil. The Saag Paneer also had a thick layer of oil laying across the top, once drained the saag paneer looked promising but after eating a spoonful the paneer was hard on the edges and chewy like rubber. When I took a closer look the paneer had very darkened edges I can only imagine it was burnt. The keema naan had very little meat in it and any meat that was found was grey and mushy. The samosa I looked forward to as they looked good but after one bite the middle was cold and the meat was mushy and soggy. The chicken pakora was the only thing we finished everything else after a few bites was thrown away. It was really sad because we had read all of the reviews and were impressed and heard that usually the food was amazing but that was honestly the worst take I have ever had. Won’t be going back or recommending. I would have attached pictures but I was that disgusted, I threw it before thinking of writing a review.

Very tasty food...friendly staff and value for money

Not impressed by this meal at all!! The korma and tikka didn't have much chicken in it but plenty if sauce. The rice was very watery to the point I mopped up a puddle from my plate with tissue. The naan breads were very thick and doughy which meant it was greasy in parts. The chips looked like they were cooked by a heated arguement .. certainly not an oven. I would avoid this place and would 100% recommend HEADLAND SPICE which is only 5 mins away...

Ordered food for the first time in ages. Appears we had an old menu, as there was some confusion with the order. However, despite it being a busy Saturday night, things were soon rectified. Food was lovely and the new owners offer fantastic customer service. Definitely recommended!

Had a take away delivered last night 2nd march, just want to say thank you to the delivery driver who drove in the awful snowy conditions and walked all the way from main road to deliver our food! Now that's what you call customer service. Food great as always

Full of oil in starters and main special dish, not good . Meat was not freshly cooked in my opinion . Not enough taste, lazy cooks. No fresh herbs. Poor.

We used to use this place all the time, but no longer live in the area. So, decided to give it a go while we were back and visiting.

Timely delivery but food is not that great. Naan and chapati are half cooked.

We used to live 2 minutes from this place before we moved away over 10 years ago. Friday night would always be a swift walk to pick up a good curry.

Waited nearly 2 hours for delivery and when the food turned up it was cold!
