Imperial Kitchen in Reading

This is a gem and Reading’s best kept secret. Good banquet style Chinese restaurants are becoming fewer and it is really hard to find a good one that isn’t a glorified takeaway. Imperial Kitchen stands out as (probably) the best Chinese restaurant in Reading and definitely the best that I and my family have ever eaten at. You’ll be given the European menu but if you ask there is a Chinese menu with proper authentic food from China. We had a couple of dishes from each and on the whole preferred the Chinese menu. The manager and head waiter had a real passion for Chinese food and very helpful and friendly. We were a little reticent because it was inside the casino but so glad we went.

Expectional service and tasty food . Served by a lovely young lady who was very knowledgeable about the Chinese cuisine. She took time to recommend dishes to best suit our taste buds.

Good food and very friendly service. Easy parking. Can't ask for more. Oh and thanks for the dessert on the house :)

Very authentic Cantonese style dishes. Their claypot rice is a must try. It seems they also serve hot pot as well.

Amazing food served by Ng and.the team. Friendly service offering good advice on food selection. The roast meat on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday is very good, and they serve a decent dry beef ho fun (without having to go to London!). Love coming to eat here

Awful service and food overall. Food was late (took an hour to come) and on top they forgot to serve an item plus one of the female server extremely rude, she did not look like she wanted to be there.

Just come back from our first ever meal here! It won’t be our last ! Food was fabulous and the staff and service was wonderful ! So so friendly and engaging ! Would definitely recommend .

Good service, food took a little long to arrive

The food is reasonably priced, the staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the special dishes are delicious.

We had the chicken with green peppers and black bean sauce. The chicken was so rubbery and gloopy my wife said it was inedible. The problem with chicken in the catering industry is that you can stipulate the amount of water content. More water content the cheaper the product. This one was particularly gloopy. The other dishes were fine but the food was served on flat plates. No bowls as standard. Service was ok. Prices a bit steep. Customers here were it seemed mainly Chinese. I would have thought Then that the food would have been excellent.

A hidden gem inside Genting Casino, serving really authentic Cantonese dishes. Some of the dishes like clay pot rice bowl are hardly find here in the UK. Price is quite reasonable with free parking available onsite.

Let me start by saying this isn’t what you’d expect from a Chinese restaurant within a casino! We didn’t have a reservation but we were thankfully very early as it filled up nearly immediately after we sat down. The food was all delicious and freshly cooked. I unfortunately had a cold and the owner saw I was blowing my nose and ran over with a stack of tissues and a reassuring smile, how lovely is that! She came back later on and we had a brief chat about how she started the restaurant, such a wonderful lady!

This is a great Chinese restaurant in Reading. The food is authentic and delicious. The owner is super friendly and gives a good and warm hospitality. I would like to give all five stars but I gave four instead. Because the restaurant is located inside a casino, we couldn't bring our children to join us for the visit. But overall, everything is brilliant and it is worth to give a go.

Awesome restaurant in an unusual place. Be aware that there are two menus. An Anglicised one with the takeaway greatest hits or the proper one which has some of the best food you can get in Reading. Plus if you ask or order in advance there are special things, braised pig trotters, oysters, whole Grouper etc. We've got this as a monthly standard it's that good.

Be warned; it is inside a Casino. You will need to join their free membership first, to be allowed entry. But it was worth the time it took to sign up. Food was good for the area it is in. Authentic style food, rather than takeout.

Absolutely world-blindingly, mesmerisingly fantastic! The BEST Chinese in Reading (no question) by a SE.A mile. Would highly recommend. Ng was the BEST host ever.

Overall great authentic tasty Chinese cuisine, and a lovely ran family restaurant. Please note this place has recently had a new ownership since 2022 (still called the same place) so won’t have dim sum but the other dishes are delicious and highly recommend. Worth noting that there is free parking, though it is within the Genting casino so people would need to have or open up a free membership and be over 18. Also note it is evening only from 6pm till very late and not open on Wednesday. Thanks NG and her team for lovely customer experience and prepared meals.

Best place for dim sum in the whole Berkshire, finally I don't need to travel to London for nice Chinese cuisines.

Only place left in Reading to serve fresh dim sum! Decent quality, also serves authentic Cantonese main dishes and hotpot. Remember to bring ID and it's only open from 6pm to 2am.
