Great local Chinese/Chip shop takeaway! since new owners have taken over food has been amazing - very friendly and lovely owners! - delivery is always super quick too!

My go to Chinese take out place. The menu is amazing and service is quick, whether that’s delivery or take out. The staff are very kind. Quality of the food is also amazing. Every dish I’ve ever gotten, I’ve enjoyed. 10/10. I love it!

We have randomly discovered this place and has been our go-to Chinese food place ever since. The food is absolutely delicious, the meat is always great quality and the service is impeccable. We haven’t ordered in a couple of months and still knew us by name when we called again. They also cook the food quite fast so there aren’t long waiting times either. If you like Chinese cuisine and have been looking for a new place, do give Eastern Choice a go, you won’t be disappointed.

Had the lemon chicken tasted like it was cooked a week before it was served defo the worst I’ve had

I’ve ordered a couple times from here, their chips are lovely. Chinese food isn’t so great though. Chicken can be tough at times and sauces can be a little bland. It is nice I can’t deny that and delivery time is very accurate. But I’ve had better Chinese food so I will likely keep this to a standard chippy order. Found a bone in my cod tonight though so this has put me off quite a bit. Maybe I’ll try again soon as they’re really not bad..

Best Chinese food and chippy in Reading to be honest. Prawn toast is also a personal favourite, it is a little outside reading central Reading but definately worth the journey 👌🏾 You could also have a browse in the charity shop while you wait for your food 😉 Or simply gaze at the beautiful view of Coronation Square

The food here is absolutely amazing and the portion sizes are generous. plus it’s excellent value for money. The service is very quick and the staff are friendly and polite. Additionally the menu is large with options for both veg and non-veg.

Tried pretty much every Chinese in reading and surrounding areas and this place is just consistently good. Always polite staff, hot, fresh & very tasty food, very quick service. Couldn’t ask for more really.

This place is excellent value for money; they are friendly; prompt with orders; the food is very good. We had completely stopped ordering take out food from our usual places due to poor and it turns out on our doorstep was a wonderful service like this all the time and much cheaper. This little gem is serving wonderful Chinese cuisine and they too serve delicious fish and chips. It’s run by a husband and wife team and they are extremely helpful in introducing their dishes to you. Truly recommended. Keep up the good work Eastern Choice

i had the most authentic sweet & sour pork rice for my dinner, juicy meat on the inside to match with its aromatic sour sauce together with its fragrance rice...mama mia ! it is so delicious & utterly recommended, a must try, if you are in Reading.

We started ordering from here recently as it was local and walking distance from the house so easy to pick up. Have to say the food is seriously good. Chips are great quality and the fish is luxurious! The best part is the portions are really large considering the prices. A large chip and 2 bags of mini cods is enough to feed all 4 of us in the house. It's great food, in portions at a reasonable price. What's not to like! It can't hurt to try on these cold winter nights. Another point is the couple running it are absolutely lovely! I always have a great chat with Michael and partner each time I walk over to collect my order. They're both so kind and love to talk! I 100% recommend the food here.

The staff are super friendly and attentive to my requests, shop is clean and smelled good (fragrant Asian cooking) and most importantly, the fish and chips are to die for (the fish and chips are cooked to perfection with satisfying crunch balanced with the perfect taste, i can eat this all day long). The menu selections are extensive and covers a variety of authentic Asian dishes (in case you want to get something other than fish and chips). Another aspect which I loved about this stall is the quantity on top of its quality, you will definitely get more than what you paid for, superb affordability. I have recommended this place to several friends within my close circle and they are generally amazed with the food and service provided. I don’t normally leave reviews but I feel compelled as the food (quantity and quality) and service are absolutely amazing. I would definitely give this place 10 stars if the system allows me. Highly recommended!!

Best roast duck and Hong Kong style King prawn in town. I come here regulary and they are very nice people. I appreciate their food and they always deliver good food.

We used to be regular customers for their Chinese food. The latest takeaway was just not up to the standard of the previous owners. The chicken chop suey was swimming in sweet sauce, and the Singapore chow mein was the opposite, very dry and didn't taste fresh. Sorry to say as we support our local businesses.

Not Bad, chips were a bit hard and the chow mein noodles were a bit greasy but had good meat ratio and did taste OK.

We use this takeaway regularly. The food is well cooked and very tasty. No complaints at all. Speedy delivery.

The food is absolutely amazing! And is cooked very fast, which is even better if your in a rush to get your food. The customer service is always great, very friendly and everyone always has a smile on their face! The Chinese food is always bursting with flavour and the fish and chips are always so so good! Moved to the area recently and thought we would try the local chinese out. Service was a little slow on a friday evening 15 minutes to take order and 20 to have prepared. Watched a few other peoples order get messed up while waiting. Most the food was undercooked or overcooked and covered in oil to the point we could only eat quarter of it before throwing it away. May try again once new management have settled in. Tried the same order at the one the meadway center with better results.

The new management clearly knows how to dish out fabulous Chinese cuisines as well as the much improved Chippy. Fully recommended to all and you will not be disappointed.

Been buying takeaway here for 13 years. The food is always made with care. New management is so warm and friendly the food is spot on. Tasty balanced flavours and good portion sizes. In the aim of keeping local businesses open I encourage thoes in the local area to try thier food.

Under new management. Very disappointing . Chips either over cook or reheated. Poor quality control. This place was great under previous owners. I would only return if reviews start improving. After reading the response to dissatisfied customers I will never return to this chippy.

Popped into this little gem on my way home from work for dinner. And was told that it was now under New Management. So I thought, well, it could be the same as before but mind you, it was utterly different from the past. The food now is very flavoursome and the new owner is very friendly and helpful in guiding you through their dishes. Well worth a try if you fancy a Chinese takeaway in that area and they do offer delivery service too Fully recommended

Having tried many places, I can confirm this is both the best place for fish and chips and Chinese in Reading. Not to mention the lovely, friendly staff and quirky, old school decor. An institution in Reading for 20+ years says it all really.

I moved here a year ago and use this take away twice a week and have never had a problem. The portions have always been so generous and the food delicious. The staff are always polite and professional. I have absolutely no doubt, that if any of the reviewers who gave a bad review walked into the take away to calmly and politely raise an issue, the staff would have tried to make it right for them. It's much easier to post a bad review and try to harm a business than to give them the oppurtunity to correct any problem. I recommend their chips! Yes you get some crunchy ones in your portion but that's true of any old skool chippy! The chow miens are perfect and huge! Anyway ... Local resident and I consider myself lucky to have this take away nearby. UPDATE 9/6/2021 - Eastern Choice continue to provide an excellent service. I placed my order in person and then went to get cash next door at the ATM only to find I had not transferred money to my main account. Owner trusted me to go sort it and return. Food was waiting for me, piping hot and as usual it was delicious! Thank you! ..... Whilst I am here I would like to ask Vikki Jane who left a bad review a very simple question. If you were so "worried" when you entered, why did you stay and order food? - Completely irrational. Next question to the Rochelle who said they had a fly on the outside of their take away box, maybe you can explain why you then opened the box and ate the food anyway if you were so horrified. Another review that makes no sense at all. If a logical person walks into a take away and considers it so worrying, you would not continue to order food and eat it. If a fly on the outside of your take away packaging was so off putting, you wouldn't then open the sealed food and eat it. In my opinion these are nonsensical malicious reviews! Keep up the fantastic service Eastern Choice, your loyal customers appreciate you and will continue to return.

It was chip shop Friday so I gave this place ago, not overly impressed I'm sure the Chinese meals are great but I recon a fair few of the ingredients may have been cooked in the fish & chip fryer, the chips were brown looking and hard and didn't taste that great! I had about 10 and the rest went in the bin. Lady behind counter was very nice thou, will give the crispy beef ago nxt time to see if they can redeem themselves

When I had chips and chicken omelette I found a dead fly on top of my container of my omelette and the chips weren't very tasty at all that's put me right off now.

This place is discriminate against Scottish money which is legal tender in the whole of the UK not only Scotland tonight the owner was very rude to me and refused saying I could only spend it in Scotland I went to the Indian convenience store and they agreed with me saying legal I will not be recommending this place to anyone I took legal advice last night and shall be speaking to trading standards tomorrow as it is illegal to refuse Scottish or Northern Irish or Welsh money as all have the word sterling on them

I used to come here every Friday for lunch and as I was in Reading today I went out of my way to come here for the special fried rice, which by my humble opinion is the best in the country. And I've had alot of special fried rice. Please don't change. See you again soon.

Awful experience. Food ok but very cold even being told we was there only order. Had something missing from order and called them to tell them to then be called a lier. Not happy especially when I had gave them a good tip as it was a nice size order as I had family around. I can honestly say I will never use these again. It would be a 0 if I could.

Great food at a reasonable price. We mixed Chinese and Malay food all was good, tasty. Our Chinese takeaway of choice. For fish and chips beware the portions are big!

Tucked away on a back street, Google suggested this Hidden Gem. Directed by my MAPS app I arrived and found the parking to be a little problematic outside but pleasantly surprised by the wide range of dishes and the prompt delivery of tasty piping hot food. Don't be put off if you're in the area

Popped in to get sausage and chips, firstly noticed lots of bags and mess under till in full view, and a plant held up by string attached to an electric cable going into a plug...worrying. Anyway got home opened up wrappers and all the chips were just that ! Small little chips of potatoes all little ends, hardly anything passable as a chip just small crunchy bits. So basically had a sausage and 6 chips, rest went in the bin. Ordered from them 4 months ago and was the same then, and as chips were freshly cooked, no excuse. Shame really.

Went on a Saturday night for a takeaway, not impressed. Mixed starter was burned first of all, prawn toast were little fingers and spring rolls were hollow. Not what I expected. Ribs were very lovely though. I ordered king prawn singapore chow mein but I'm sure I recieved a regular chow mein as it wasn't spicy at all. The prawns were nice but not enough of them as with most takeaways, the chow mein was way too salty and too wet with sauce that didn't look freshly prepared at all. All in all a disappointing meal that wasn't worth what it cost and left us dehydrated and still dissatisfied.

This is a strange place. The Chinese food is generally good as long as you stick to the popular dishes. They also do fish and chips. The fish is usually good but the chips are sometimes fried 2, 3, or even 4 times I think. Sometimes you can tell the chips are old. Really disappointing. The prices are ok. Lock your car when you go there as the kids that hang out outside the parade of shops are a little wild.

My. All time favourite. Have moved away but always go back there when I get a chance
