Il Mulino in Hambleton

Best place around ! I have been a few times now and it is consistently good every time . Last time I was there I had the 10oz cote de beuf and I was cooked to perfection, highly recommend .

Mother's Day so expected it to be busy but it was a delight. 4 kids in our party of 8 and it was no trouble for the lovely staff.

4 of us for lunch. Quite quiet so subdued atmosphere. The parmo was huge and tasted fantastic, as did the mussels starter. The anchovy and caper pizzas were a tad soggy and disappointing, but overall the food was great. 4 people, 2 courses, 4 coffees, 2 alcoholic drinks each came to £150. Would recommend

When we arrived at il mulino we had our usual warm greeting from john and shown to our usual table Our front of house staff was Eliza and again as usual she gave us a very warm welcome and as we’d read the menu before hand we immediately ordered food and drinks. We had the seafood pancake and the beef croquettes for our starters and WOW the food was amazing we both said it was the best starter we’d had from there and definitely the best we’ve ever eaten. Second course we had the monk fish and the steak both cooked to perfection and perfect portions. Dessert was sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and the lemon tart both a perfect size and the flavours were delicious. the time taken to plate the food and the presentation was perfect and then to be charged £20 each for our food ( restaurant week) was the cherry on the top. will be back again and again and have highly recommended il mulino to family and friends for the staffs friendly manner John and Eliza working so hard and very busy but gave us 100% attention and the chefs turning out plate after plate of amazing food all day and night keep going !!

All 4 of us were regular visitors to il Mulino and had good rapport with the waitress who was always there we used to order the full English and it was always great but on our last visit to our surprise the regular waitress had left and when the breakfast arrived for some reason instead of the usual 2 fried eggs there was only one? The baked beans were all clotted together as if they had been left in the pan overnight and overall was not any where near the usual standard. I appreciate the new waiter/waitress was probably still learning the ropes but even the service for coffee and tea had slowed down once we could get served which took a while. Sorry but now we go for a breakfast 100 yards up the road.

We decided to take up the Teesside Restaurant Week offering. We both had the seafood pancake for starters. It was brimming with fishy loveliness, served in a sizzling dish of buttery, cheesy sauce. Belly pork and monkfish mains followed. The belly pork was deliciously succulent, topped with perfectly seasoned crispy crackling. The monkfish was simply stunning! Cooked to perfection, with accompaniments that sang in unison. My bodyweight in tiramisu, and the lemon tart ensued. The lemon tart was out of this world. Beautiful lemon, hugged by short, sweet, buttery pastry and fluffy Italian meringue. This was a surprisingly great offering, that far exceeded our expectations.

2nd visit here. Nice warm welcome in this drizzly cold weather. Flat white followed by amazing tasty poached eggs on Italian toast. Great background music and nice cosy clean surroundings- will highly recommend 👌

Arrived for my husbands birthday meal and we were greeted by Eliza and Phoebe shown to our table and made to feel very welcome Had plenty of time to look at the menu had a coconut rum cocktail while we chose our food and it was delicious Chose the special starter black pudding scallops with nduja creme it was exceptional cooked perfectly then the Parmo for my husband and the monk fish special and again both cooked perfectly flavours complimented each other Staff service was as good as the food Big thank you to the chefs and Eliza and Phoebe we will be back 100%

The food was exceptional! Really tasty from starters to mains and pudding. The staff were lovely too and attentive but not overpowering. Highly highly recommend.

We decided to book here again but for New Years Eve and we were absolutely delighted to do so. We have always had super times here with a friendly team who are welcoming and courteous always. Pizzas and garlic bread are absolutely brilliant here but the menus offers a delicious and compact range of choices. All up always a place that delivers.

This review is mainly for Il Mulino management so they understand why we won’t be eating at their restaurant again. My family went for dinner this evening and 4 of the meals were over-salted (Two Moules marinières starter & two Gorgonzola gnocchi). We fully ate the starter but left 90% of both portions of gnocchi. The waiter asked if everything was OK with the uneaten mains and we told him they were over-salted. The waiter briefly apologised but that was the end of it. No compensation was offered. We spent £70 on dinner. If customers leave two meals essentially uneaten and tell you what was wrong there should be a process of recompense beyond ‘oh, sorry about that’.

Wish I could give zero stars. Had large order and charged for a pizza which they never provided. Asked for a refund in June shortly after the order, 6 months later after several calls and emails and promises still nothing. I highly recommend avoiding this place.

Absolutely amazing Sunday Lunch. The staff are so attentive from the first step through the door. The place is well decorated, spotlessly clean and cosy. The Best Sunday Lunch I have ever tasted. All cooked to perfection. Good size portions. We will definitely be going back

Below average coffee (very bitter and overextracted espresso) and rather expensive food for what it was. Style over substance for sure. Staff were friendly and helpful, but the quality of what I went for did not match the price charged.

Visited twice in a few days for different occasions with different people. The venue and food both lovely but staff extremely inattentive on both occasions. Couldn’t attract their attention for love nor money whilst they gathered behind the till chatting between themselves oblivious of customers needing to order drinks, food, more cutlery, Parmesan, the bill etc. We were totally ignored. The second visit, only three tables were occupied so very quiet. We received the same couldn’t be bothered attitude, won’t be returning.

I came to Il Mulino after I was ashamed of the mill, thinking it was better but no. I think it was worse. I ordered a large cheese pizza but when it came I found a strange substance in the cheese maybe it was cooked but no I think it might have been spit or worse.

This is our second visit in 2 weeks. This is probably one of the best Italians we’ve been to. Brilliant location, great atmosphere and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Eliza was lovely and very attentive. Note to other people eating here, try having the Salmon Gnocchi with pasta instead, it was to die for. I asked for this and the restaurant happily accommodated.

Was here last night for Restaurant week with my girlfriend and a few friends. Food was amazing we had 3 courses and they were all lovely. Food was awful, bland terrible pizza and still waiting for a refund on a garlic bread I never received from 2 months ago. Keep getting told the manager will call, never do. Never reply to emails. Avoid!

Food was lovely, we both had gnocchi, one salmon and one blue cheese. Salad was great. Weather was good, so we sat outside with the dogs and watched the world go by. Service good and reasonable prices - strongly recommended.

Went in a Friday evening as a family of four. Great menu with good variety. Definitely cooked fresh. The mussels were as good as I have tasted anywhere. Kids devoured the pizzas which seemed a good sign! Service was outstanding - the waitresses and maitre’d were a well oiled machine. Some places make serving folk seem a chore but not here, they were great. If it wasn’t so far away from home we’d be back regularly.

A group of 19 of us went to Il Mulino to celebrate my grandma's 90th birthday. Communication with the team to secure the booking was excellent. The service was perfect, all orders came out together which was very impressive given the size of our party. The food was delicious and freshly made. Staff were friendly and attentive. This seemed by far the best choice for us in Stokesley, with an interesting Italian food selection, unlike the predictable chains, and the meals proved excellent. For me there was a good range of vegetarian dishes, and my aubergine lasagne was one of the best veggie restaurant meals I've had for some time. My wife enjoyed her pancetta and mozzarella pizza too. We found the service very pleasant and efficient, and the meals were piping hot straight from the kitchen.

Came in as we’ve passed a few times and never been in!! So glad we finally came, only came for drinks as we weren’t hungry, watching the food fly past us and the smell just lured us in!
