Hygge Coffee shop in Sheffield

Lovely coffee and great cakes. Lots of interesting places to sit as well. However, the toilets and corridor area at the back of the cafe are disgusting. The whole place needs a good clean.

Great little cafe in the heart of Sheffield. Friendly staff & good coffee. We had a ham & cheese croissant which the waitress was able to toast as it was quiet. On offer was freshly made focaccia sandwiches, filled and plain croissants as well as sweet treats.

I love this place - the coffee is great and the staff are all lovely. If you’re looking for somewhere with quirky seating where you can sit and chill out for an hour or two this is perfect. Positives: - Staff - always welcoming and friendly - Atmosphere - chilled out and relaxing - Coffee and cake is amazing - WiFi and charging sockets if you need to work on your laptop - Lots of different seating areas to suit solo visits or groups - Generous loyalty scheme for coffee lovers Suggested improvements: - Toilets need upgrading

This place is lovely and I could not recommend it enough. The nice lady that was working there was very nice and I'm looking forward to going back.

I wanted to love this place. However left disappointed. The croissant was stale! I did receive a refund. The toilets were disgusting! They say you can tell the cleanliness of a place by the toilets. Coffee was nice but 1 out of 3 isn’t great. I’ll not be returning or recommending.

Hygge is undoubtedly my favourite place in Sheffield, and probably one of my all time favourite cafes full stop. The coffee is top notch, the cakes are amazing, but above all, I can't fault the warmth of this place. The staff are all absolutely lovely, and I am always welcomed by friendly faces every time I visit, which I really appreciate as someone who is new to the area. If you are looking for somewhere you can feel at home and spend the day - whether that be catchup up with friends, working on a project, or just taking some time aside for yourself - Hygge is exactly where you want to be.

When this place was first opened it was lovely and a great concept Went in yesterday for a tea / coffee with my daughter and found it to be very dirty, not great service and the toilets were disgusting. Such a shame

It was ok. Half the menu wasn’t available. They ran out of eggs at 1pm on a Saturday… Coffee was nice. Had to ask for cream for my waffles, when this was listed on the menu. The staff spent a lot of time wandering around with food trying to work out whose was whose….

Nine of us went for lunch, we only had an hour as we were working so differed as soon as we arrived. After all putting our orders in the women came back several times to say they were missing items from the menu, so people had to change orders or miss key items like hollandaise sauce. When the food arrived in bits the quality of the food looked and tasted poor. I had the Brie melt, which I expected to be sliced Brie but instead these were deep fried Brie wedges in bread. Two of the brie wedges were hard and the other one had no brie in it. I complained and asked for it to be replaced, they said it would be 5 min, after 20 min I chased this and they said it was coming. 5 min later the women returned and threw three brie wedges at me in a box and didn’t say a word, the rest of the meal was missing that I had sent back. One of my colleagues is also lactose intolerant and is starting to feel quite ill and is concerned they didn’t use oat milk as requested. Overall service and food was terrible and when we left our clothes stank of grease.

Lovely spot. F.O.H Loos in need of attention, Not a pleasant experience. Sandwiches need pricing to avoid false starts. Atmosphere nice!

quick service and friendly staff with a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. a variety of menu options which were very good and not expensive and the coffee was fantastic. will definitely visit again :)

It seemed like the ideal place for a relaxing brunch as this is how they advertise themselves, with the Danish for comfortable and contentment. Unfortunately, that was the last thing we got. We found a table without a problem and I got a menu from the person behind the counter. After we decided on our food/drinks, I approached the counter again and was immediately told that it would be at least 45 minutes before we could get food (they neglected to mention that when I got the menu from them). Still, we were hungry and so I went ahead with the order. It didn't seem at all obvious why it would take 45 minutes as it was half empty and most people were already eating. We did manage to get drinks though. As it would be a long time to wait for food, we decided to have a piece of cake in the meantime. These were not priced, but I ordered one. For some reason, the cake was placed on a saucer and not a plate and didn't include any way of eating what would otherwise make fingers very messy. I asked for cutlery and was grudgingly offered a fork. Eventually, the food arrived. My wife's food was fine, but mine was not what I ordered, so, in case they had accidentally given me someone else's order, I went to the counter to check. My order was peri-peri chicken with peppers and cheese on bread (with a hash brown on the side - which they had run out of, but had told me when I ordered at least), but I received chicken and cheese, minus peppers on a bagel. When I checked, I was told that they had run out of bread and that someone should have told me. When I pointed out the missing peppers, they said they would check with the kitchen...after which, I was grudgingly told they would remake it. After a further age of waiting (more than 10 minutes), my food arrived. It was the correct ingredients, on the bread they told me they didn't have. It was dropped onto the table without a word by an angry looking waitress. There was no napkin or cutlery given to me (my wife was also not given a spoon with her cappuccino earlier so had made another trip to the counter for that), so I went to the counter to ask, only to be told that they had run out of napkins, but I could have some "blue roll". Overall, it was anything but the relaxing experience we were hoping for. While they were not major mistakes, there were just so many small lapses that it just added up. The odd thing is, they didn't seem that busy or understaffed. I can't see us returning.

Second visit to HYGGE. Friendly, cheery, helpful staff. Amazing food. Comefy chilled atmosphere. Recommend to anyone

I met my friend Andrew and his colleagues from his camera club when they were visiting Sheffield to take photos. We agreed to meet ay Hygge and sat outside. Very nice coffees and nice company.

I ordered 2 coffees and sat outside. We waited a long time, my coffee arrived, but my friend’s was given to table next door. After complaining he got his coffee, but it was cold. The service was appalling and the attitude of the waitress was worse! We won’t be back

I was there for around 1.5hours. I spent about 1 hour waiting for our waffles and when they came they were not worth the money. The place was beautiful don’t get my wrong, even though I didn’t see the rest of the seating area due to secluded layout. I imagine on a quiet day it’s an amazing place to go. But on my occasion I was let down.

I come here about twice a week for a change of scenery while working from home and it's the perfect place to just sit and get on with work without feeling like you have to buy something every ten mins. The staff are really down to earth and the cafe itself is always clean and tidy. If anything, the music can be a little loud sometimes but if I wasn't working it wouldn't be an issue, and at least they play good music :)

The atmosphere was nice and quirky. Mainly filled with young professionals and students with laptops but a few family’s dotted here and there. I would describe the food as trendy and basic but it was nice, honest and well priced. My issues were that no allergy/ingredient information was anywhere so the waiting staff had to keep asking the kitchen staff what was in certain meals. The other issues was communication between the front of house staff and the kitchen which is sadly lacking and needs much improvement, one of our meals didn’t turn up and it took us asking three times for it to finally appear. It’s an interesting place but not sure I will be jumping to go back.

Really nice and a bit different. WE went with our grandson who is studying at Sheffield university. He had some food we just had coffees. All excellent. Thank you.

It was filthy. Crumbs everywhere. It’s worse because there are lots of cushions/fabrics and they carry the dirt more easily than hard surfaces. I only went there because my appointment was right next to it. Toilets are also grubby.

This cafe is a hang out space for students,its warm and cosy,and cheery ,but not very clean and although coffee good ,over £12 for 2 cups and 2 pieces toasted fruit bread ,but obviously worth the cost for young people on laptops keeping warm on cold days.

Fantastic tasting coffee, really nice atmosphere and cute hidden seating areas. Not the cleanest, dirty bin side Wherabouts to help yourself to tap water. Everything else seemed perfect just the cleanliness let it down a bit

Waited more than 10 minutes for a particularly average take away coffee on a Sunday morning. The cafe wasn't busy. Unimpressed.

Apparently a Danish concept, Hygge is a place to relax, study or meet up with a very different atmosphere to a 'normal' coffee shop. Well worth a try!
