Hungry Horse Highfield Hotel in Middlesbrough

10 of us went for a meal on Saturday and everything was on point all food was perfect staff where great we all enjoyed are time there

Always great service, they all know how to have banter especially Courtney and Lauren and adele

The waitresses Adele was brilliant couldn't do anuff to help would deffenetly recommend

This is a great place for any activity you desire. Whether it be a quiet lunch, dinner with your family or a night on the drink your friends enjoying the interactive quiz! Definitely recommend and the staff always provide optimal service.

I am currently and have for the last 5 months been working in this area, I have sampled many hostelrys in the area and tbh honest, this is now my regular haunt. Fantastic, friendly staff, great ambiance,,TV screens everywhere for the sports lovers, quiz on Fridays, live music Saturdays, good,competitive prices 😀,...

Sat in the back room, the band music was too loud, visited sat 30th december

Very disappointed ☹️ to find small children running around in over 18.s bar area.. I visit regularly because I no it is over 18.s and can enjoy a pint and read a paper without feeling like I am in a playground.. I asked barstaff why children were in here .. was told because family rooms were full and they had to use bar as overflow.. i checked and there was clearly tables free in family side so very disappointed....

Came with family for breakfast. The food was lovely. The only downfall was when the family went and asked to order more tea they said sorry, but we don't have any cups left

greene king are pricey with alcohol now but the food deals are great. good choice well cooked. the korean bbq burger is mint

Always go above and beyond. Staff and regulars are always chatting and having a laugh, place is very well kept and decent prices but what sets it apart is the staff 100%

Stayed here for a night after a gig at the Empire and it was the ideal place to stay. Price of the room was excellent - it was clean and spacious and we could hear no noise when trying to sleep. For convenience, we had a meal in the restaurant before heading to see Johnny Marr and found it filling and tasty. Easy to get into Middlesbrough by taxi. Would stay in a Green King hotel again, for sure, and if I ever attend a gig at the Empire in the future this is the first hotel I'll look at. The only quibble was that the pastries included in the continental breakfast were inedible as they were extremely dry and clearly weren't fresh or even freshly out the freezer. Otherwise, a perfect place to stay on a budget.

They serve a great pint of San Miguel. What had with a very tasty quadzilla burger. And the service was spot on.

Lovley is a clean and friendly place .food lovley at good price staff very friendly and helpfull would definitely stay there again

Positives: Been refurbished by the looks of things. Looks pretty friendly. Room clean and pleasant. Good solid bed. Negatives: Went in the restaurant to eat and no fish left - not good. Took about 5 minutes for hot water to start coming out of the shower so don't know what is happening there ??? And no soap in the shampoo/bodywash container so had to deduct a star unfortunately for the last two things.

Service was a bit slow but once served at the bar a lot better meal was nice and hot not overcroweded just nice

The more I go to this pub/restaurant the better it gets...The food is top class and the service superb.. The craic with Alex behind the bar is great, never a dull moment in that place....Top place in the Boro....

Popped in here for a drink, lovely, spacious dining areas, looked at the menu, lots of choice and reasonably priced. If this hungry horse food is as good as ours in marske it will be great. Staff were nice and friendly. The whole place looked clean with a nice atmosphere. We'll worth a visit. Good size car park.

Shockingly awful cooking a greasy spoon cafe would be far superior. Then when politely mentioning the drop in food standards - the member of staff wanted an argument... the gentleman on the next table then said his was awful too and he had complained. Finally, I received a very obviously ingenuious "sorry you had that experience" from the member of staff... I left 70% of the food and departed. It's a toss-up as to weather the food is going to be acceptable or deplorable. This location should not be your first or second choice for food.

I came during the lockdown and the food was lovely and service was great. Today the food was over cooked and inedible. I hate making complaints and made to feel even more uncomfortable once we had complained. Don't waste your time coming.

The waitress didn’t wanted cater for us. She was very dismissive and really tried her best to discourage us to stay. I asked her where the highchairs are and she said they were all being used. I took my little girl and went to have a little look myself and found them all stacked up. Really disappointed with the service.

Firstly I’d like to say the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The room on the other hand was a huge disappointment. The shower went from cold to hot to cold so showering was difficult. The toilet wasn’t working properly neither. I’d say the most disappointing thing was the wifi, kept dropping out. Made it difficult for me to work whilst there on my stay. Rooms could seriously do with updating. There’s definitely better hotels in the area for the same price.

2019 Lovely meal and service. Will definitely be going back. Very reasonably priced. We went for Christmas day lunch 2021 and was really disappointed, the service was excellent but that was the only thing that was. The main coarse was almost edible the Turkey was processed the vegetables were under cooked, everything was on your plate, so you couldn't choose your vegetables, we expected tureens. The Christmas pudding was hard. We eat quite often at the highfield and can honestly say it was the first time we have had a bad meal there. Once again we were extremely disappointed. Especially as it was Christmas day

First of all, the staff are amazing. So friendly and helpful and welcoming. The hotel itself needs a bit of an upgrade, which I'm told it's getting soon. If it does...you wont go wrong fir sure. The meals I had there were good and I enjoyed. Overall...I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

On my previous visit the food was perfect. This time, I wouldn't have brought the dog . Grill has been broken for at least a week. The chicken and waffles big plate. The food was huddled in the middle of the plate, probably to try and get warm. The free sweet, apple crumble with a cold cruel sea of custard. I've eaten in Hungry Horse pubs for over ten years and never been disappointed till now. If you don't have pride in the food you serve give up. This is the first time I have had to leave a bad review on Google.

Went for food which was decent however the only reason I'm giving a 3 star review is because a dozen bluebottle flies linger in the males toilets with a nasty smell of death

Disgusting won't stay again threadbare carpets mold in bathroom and stained bathroom floor. Unable to plush toilet. Grill broken so no English breakfast and no money off the bill

Terible customer service, gave 1 star because it wont let me post a zero. Your fb page asked what you can do better, heres a start customer service training for duty managers and waitresses. getting food and cutlery to the table at the same time. getting the correct main meal, or at least checking the replacement is suitable dont blame the customer when things go wrong. You asked me to email you yes. But your system wouldn't accept my email. It said the target computer wouldn't receive it.

Quite disappointed in the food. Sons pizza was a chicago town microwave pizza, and my burger bun was still frozen, the fries were hard and cold.

A very good Hotel, a fully functional pub with a good room for a pleasant stay. The bathroom needs attention but was informed there's an upgrade in January, The bathroom didn't spoil our stay. Will definitely stay there again.

My son book a room for Friday and Saturday night i surprised him by travelling up from Kent Saturday morning staff very nice room 1 curtains hanging off toilet smelt noise from dining room next door two human hairs in my full English evening time staff rushed of their feet had burger and chips stone cold chips great experience paid £67.50 for room that I didn't sleep in Drove back home to Kent never again

I have stayed here when visiting Teeside, it is excellent value, very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms spacious and comfortable, food is very good, plenty outdoor space and carparking, but best of all its Pet friendly and only 15mins from Saltburn by the sea. Its my 'Go to' when visiting the area

A group of us stayed here to go to Redcar racing. The staff were friendly and helpful. We got great service. The rooms we had were good they do need a bit of updating but that's down to tge company. We would 100% go back.
