Hungry Horse in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Great food at a great price. We come here at least once a month if not more frequently. Today our server was Ben, who was very attentive and very pleasant. Cannot fault our visit at all

Brilliant service. Food was nice steak cooked to perfection! The hungry horse donuts were a big hit too. Plates cleared away promptly

Excellent service from Callum . We had a small mix up with the meals and Callum was so kind, friendly and professional. Sorted it out very quickly, he couldn’t do enough for us. We will certainly be visiting again very soon.

Came in with my son and had the bogof burgers. Amazing value tasted great. Staff friendly and helpful. Will be back soon that’s a promise.

Went at lunchtime. Ordered drinks, mains and desserts. Great service, clean venue, quality food. Would recommend.

Ordered chicken kebab menu said seasoned fries they had a bottle of paprika or something similar tipped over them totally inedible.Ordered children's food for the grandkids and they had to eat with adult cutlery you would think childrens meals would come with children cutlery?.Very disappointed won't be eating here again.

Fantastic food and brilliant service. Gary is lovely. His management skills are phenomenal. His team of staff I can not fault. During these extremely hard times with this Covid, I'd like to say well done. The pub was extremely clean and we felt safe when in our seating area. We didn't have to wait long for our food either. Will definately be going back. Thankyou

This is the first time of visiting the cherry tree for food and drinks since lockdown and we had heard quite good reviews about food and service so though we would give it a try. However it was disappointing from start to finish. I can fully appreciate that service may be a little slower given the circumstances but we placed our drinks order through the app and roughly ten minutes later placed our food order. Our starters arrived and still no drinks but the rest of the tables food hadn’t arrived (3 separate orders through the app). Myself and my partner ordered on the same app so once we finished our starters our friends food was just arriving. We asked about the drinks and also asked if the mains could come out at the same time as our friends so we weren’t all eating at separate times as we were all sat together. We had also enquired about the blue light card discount and was told they would sort it... we never heard back. The food arrived all together this time but mine and my partners food was lukewarm and the bacon was missing from the burger. We ordered another round of drinks ... incorrect order after asking how to add a mixer to the drink as well. When the waitress arrived to bring the drinks she went that quickly we didn’t get chance to pass our empty glasses or tell her the drink was wrong meaning we had to go to the bar which defeats the point of the app in the first place. In the end when we were leaving someone approached the table to clear all the plates and numerous glasses we mentioned the discount to which the response was that they were going to give us table service but this was never mentioned when we first enquired. Safe to say we won’t be returning for a while!

Excellent customer service especially from Amy. Delicious food and very quick service but felt very hospitable and welcoming by all staff. The discount menu went down very well. A very enjoyable experience.

Place felt safe with covid going on . Everywhere were clean . Clear instructions given of where to go In and out . All staff very friendly. Manger Gary was very helpful. Have been a few times and never been disappointed. Food has always been good .

Called to meet a work friend today, had the curry deal ... great value . Nice curry .. served quickly and curry came out hot and in a good time.. what a deal for £5.50.. staff were lovely and polite and the building looked good .. just issue getting into car park but that’s nowt to do with pub just silly road system

Went here for a NHS ward Xmas meal it was absolutely disgraceful waited over an hour for cold food which some of the group left due to working all day on a busy ward hungry and went somewhere else one of the waiting on staff was very abusive to one of my colleagues which really upset her the staff had no coordination of what they were doing they new that it was a Xmas party and did not cater with enough experience staff they had no clue at all the manger did not care about our concerns the place was filthy and tatty there were about twenty of us and we have agreed that we not use this horrible place again or use Hungary horse places in the future there is no standard of service might be cheap but it shows we feel that it ruined our night thanks Hungry horse for ruined our night cherry tree Newcastle stoke on Trent

Brilliant good food excellent service from Amy and prompt polite and pleasant throughout all in all a very enjoyable experience.Oh and value for money Wednesday £5 boutlets of house wine What's not to love highly recommended

I have been going hungry horse for years, not every month but afew times a year. Went the other night and decided to have a burger for a change. My god, my burger and bap had shrunk, the frys i had wouldn't fill a child. They spread the food over the plate to try and make it look more. For £7.50 i expected better, im not going again.

Came here at 8 pm.waited for 20 mins to get served at the bar. And i was second in the queue.! Nobody serving in the bar for at least 5 mins. Massive queues for food orders. 3rd in the queue . Another 20 mins waiting .No fish and chips. Ordered wine. No wine glasses. 1 person serving in the bar and 1 person taking food orders. If you want to avoid high blood pressure dont come here. ! This isnt a one off. Its about time they got some staff on. 20 mins wait for food but has just arrived and looks ok. Oh my lager was flat but xouldnt be bothered to queue at the bar again.

Great food, lovely staff and value for money. Well worth a visit, becoming a regular go to place to socialise.

My daughter and I have just been for an early dinner. Both had the New Mexican halloumi big plates for £5 because it seemed like a great deal. Unfortunately we were wrong, the peri peri sauce is so hot we couldn’t eat the meals. It spoilt the whole dish. After trying to eat it, I decided to complain. The manageress stayed that the meal is labelled with a hot chilli (meaning it’s hot). I did actually see this and usually like hot food, this burns your mouth to the point of having to eat ice cubes to cook it down. We keep coming back, time after time, bad experience after bad experience. NO MORE.....Joke of a place. If I could give NO Stars I would.

Lovely place..great burgers and wings collection..mwaaa..the place is vibrant and entataining..recommend all..great manager too..

Went to hungry horse ( cherry tree). For a drink after work at 5 pm waited 15 mins at the bar didn't get served after one of the staff said would be with me in a moment, couldn't wait any longer on the way out saw two of the serving staff standing around in the food order section talking,. Crap morning

I normally love a hungry horse. Sad to say this fell below standards. Start on a positive, it was cheaper than my local one. But when food came it did not look appetizing. Congealed looking cheese sauce, frozen chips and a blackened sausage. Half my sausage from the porky platter was well over cooked and I had to go queue for my missing coleslaw.

Been today after told it was new management but peeps it is still crap food and service ding food and 10 mins at bar get drink so if you want go for a cheap lunch but great food go blakeys in Newcastle real food and real peeps
