Hungry Horace in Redcar and Cleveland

Asked for bacon sandwich. Bought as a takeout, was handed over all wrapped up and in a bag. This is what I opened when I got home. Neither looked or smelled like bacon. Green tinged. Went straight into the bin

Went in yesterday as it had always been an excellent place and thought we would give the new owners a chance and ohdear its awful.....ordered 2 mince and dumplings at 11.50 lunch time and was told the mash wasnt ready so was offered chips which was fine but when food came it was stone cold sent it back and could clearly hear the microwave ping and then offered it a 2nd time for it still to be stone cold at which point had it then been in the microwave twice and still cold i wasnt prepared to be microwaved again at which we told the lady and was offered a full refund but certainly wont be back!!

Poor lukewarm food in small portions - what's gone wrong? New owners :( This has always served the best mince and dumplings and my other favourites have been the breakfasts and the corned beef pie - super hot food friendly fast service and I usually have to ask for a small portion or share one, but whats happened? We were very disappointed on a recent visit when the food was luke warm, the gravy was floury served with only mash or chips and no side veg and the portion was smaller. I even overheard a comment from the kitchen that the microwave wasn't working properly. When we asked for the salt and pepper the server picked it up from the bench behind us so we used our own hand sanitiser and as it was the only time we have eaten out since lockdown we only realised we weren't asked for our contact details till after we left.

Shame that Mike as left and the knew owners took over been in today for a breakfast and it's not very nice at all it wasn't proper bacon snoty eggs and hash browns tasted of onion rings I deffo won't be going back .

Well the best breakfast I have had locally and very reasonably priced Small breakfast and mug of £4.25 Excellent quality bacon and sausage Beans, 4 slices toast and fresh egg

Good food at reasonable prices. We had full English breakfast and it was lovely, good portion sizes : ). Nice friendly staff Will be back for the mince n dumplings lol.

My family and I eat here all the time and the food is always first class. We always get a lovely welcome and the prices are so reasonable for such great food and service. The cafe is always spotless and I highly recommend this cafe for fresh home cooked food in a very welcoming atmosphere.

So pleased we found this cafe. The food is fabulous and the staff really friendly. It is a little small, but the portion sizes are not. We definitely can recommend this cafe

How on earth Mike can do this Nenu every day beats me, the Menu is so vast evrything from a sausage to a full roast dinner, my faverate is his Mince and Dumplings. I visit Hungry Horace about once a week but will now start going a bit more often. Not a large dining area and only five tables, one can always give him a ring and a time and he will reserve a table for you. Good friendly staff and very good service. If you are thinking of calling at Mikes it is in Moore St Redcar just up from the Lifeboat Station.

We often pop in on a lunch time because the food is delicious, affordable and freshly cooked. Mike and his staff are friendly too.

Quite small cafe but serves well cooked foot, spotlessly clean with friendly staff. My friend and I had toasted tea cake plus tea and coffee. Noticed the food others were having was served in good sized portions and looked to be of good quality. (Judging by the empty plates it was!)

Had a lovely cheese omelette and mum had mince and dumplings. Very nice and cheap too. Staff were very friendly. A nice couple of hours out from Durham

Did not know what to expect; went in because it appeared clean and was near to our coach stop. It was clean. Very impressed with the standard of food and service. Very pleasant staff and fellow customers, some whom dined their regularly. Customers ages ranged from a baby to elderly. There are only a few tables inside and two outside; it became quite full when we were there; testament to its popularity, I would think. The size, when there is a full compliment of customers is small, but diners are not cramped.

Still says its in Marske on here which shows the owners dont read Trip Advisor.Lets hope theyve not lost much custom over this glaring error.

Nice staff very clean biggest breakfast ever well cooked and very cheap. Very busy place only a few tables all the food looked amazing. I got the large full English and it was massive I couldn't even eat half if it had the items written down on menu no way would I have ordered it but what I did eat was lovely would go here again but only for a small meal

been a few times the prtoprieter is very accomodating to every ones taste so a good referance food wise the cafe very clean and the staff great

This have got to go down as one of the best full English Breakfasts I have ever had. Word of warning order the small, its huge! Mike the owner has been running this cafe for two year its traditional Yorkshire fair. From chip butties to Jam roly poly pudding with custard. The mushrooms are to die for. Fresh local produce brings your palette alive. No frills just great English Grub❤️️

Ate here today (16th July),ive tried to get in here 3 or 4 times before and the seating has been taken.It is small inside with not many tables,there are some outside,but theyre mostly if you like traffic fumes.

Yesterday I visited Hungry Horaces yet again and it is at 3 Moore Street Redcar. I hope that too many people haven't looked for it in Marske and been disappointed ! It's always a delight to dine at this cafe , The owner is a little man with a big personality and he gives even bigger portions, the food is good quality. I always leave feeling very satisfied.

This cafe is tops for a comfort food fix.... Staff were really friendly and my all day breakfast was lovely as was my sons burger. Big portions so you wont leave here hungry, but their prices are excellent.

Another visit, another great meal. Proper home cooked grub and very plentiful. Lots of typical friendly banter between staff and customers. Great place!

I can't say it's bad, it's just not my thing. if you go in winter, you'll be either too cold or too hot depending whether you get a seat smack dab in front of the electric heater. seats weren't nice, tables were small, packed in like tuna fish. food was nothing to grumble at. they don't do anything by half when it comes to portion size and me and my friends enjoyed it all. unfortunately the coffee was bad and the banter was a bit uncouth. I like politics but not when it's shouted over my head to locals.

Hungary Horace's is food at prices to fit everyone's pocket no frills food and plenty of it, sometimes too much to cope with, who needs a pudding, you wouldn't have room for one anyway.

What a lovely little gem this cafe is!!! Mike and Lesley are extremely friendly and clearly take pride in what they do! I had the all day breakfast and my partner had the cheese burger. Fantastic portion sizes, excellent pricing, and a lovely little place. Topped off with the sheer enthusiasm of the owners it a great place to stop for a bite to eat!!!!
