Called by five miles into a twenty mile walk along the Monarch’s Way, at 10:15am tentatively looking for refreshment. Not looking the most smart of customers… We were waved in by the kitchen staff spotting our hesitance and given a massive welcome by the young smart front of house guy. Who set down a pot of coffee and hot buttered toast to set us up for the rest of the day. Absolutely terrific service and a lovely historic venue, we thoroughly recommend this hostelry!

We've been here several times and the menu never disappoints. I would happily have ordered every dish. This is really fine cooking with fresh exciting flavours, and ingredients sourced from their own gardens. Beautifully balanced, the chef knows how to bring out the best in every dish By the way, you have to check out the gardens when you've finished, they are almost worth a visit in themselves.

My husband and I have been to the Hundred House Hotel quite a few times. Today we went for Sunday Lunch. We both had starters and a main course. My starter was black pudding and chorizo. It was very tasty. However, I have a small appetite so my husband finished it, so I had room for my main course. We both chose beef, one rare, one well done. Both were delicious. The vegetables were well-seasoned and tasty. The Yorkshire pudding was like my grandma's which is indeed a high accolade. The service staff were effecient. I would like to say a thank you to Teresa she was very pleasant and helpful. Needless to say, we had no room for a pudding. Afterwards we took a leisurely stroll in their extensive garden which is well worth a visit. I would highly recommend this venue

The booking process simple and straightforward. We were 4 couples (all family) eating lunch here at Hundred House. It was easy to find, and there was plenty of car parking. Great menu, with lots of variety to choose from. I had falafel for starter and blade of beef for my main course. Both were delicious and well presented. Sadly we had to leave before puddings and/or coffee. Good service, friendly staff and the building itself has plenty of character (even in the cloakroom!) Bill came to £85 per couple. Cannot recommend highly enough ***** stars.

Once upon a time Shropshire had a reputation for fine dining, something that sadly is not the case now; however, we are lucky to have the Hundred House, which has maintained its excellence over many years. I recently enjoyed a delicious Saturday lunch with two friends, the menu is a joy to read as every dish is a temptation for your taste-buds. My tart of smoked haddock was made with proper smoked haddock, not that awful yellow dyed haddock that masquerades as smoked haddock in too many places these days. My friends and I were delighted with every single dish we had, and the Chilean Sauvignon Blanc generated high praise, a quality wine at a sensible price. The bill came as a pleasant surprise, as it was reasonable for the superb meal that we had enjoyed so much. We were delighted to see Henry Phillips, he and his sons are to be congratulated on the success of the Hundred House, a deservedly popular venue with high standards. I will be returning soon.

Called in on way back from a day in Bridgnorth. 330pm Sunday. Was busy inside but made a selection of drinks at the bar whilst my wife looked for somewhere to sit. Young man at bar took my order then said sorry I am just going to help a girl with a tray of drinks, and he disappeared. No sign of the lad three minutes later. My wife meanwhile asked a member of staff where we could sit and was told that we couldn’t sit at any of the reserved tables and there might be somewhere in the lobby near the toilets. Not the sort of service you expect from a “top” place asking a fortune for a pint of ale. Why they couldn’t say “use this table but it is reserved from 6pm so you will need to vacate it by 530”, I guess clearing away our empties would be too much. Car park also jammed with badly parked Mercedes and Land Rovers as if they owned the place, which no doubt they do. Rating on service as we never even got to taste a beer.

This was a very enjoyable visit which I think would be a good venue for important events from birthdays to weddings. The food was at the top end of fine dining - almost all the dishes have multiple complicated elements. The building is rich in history.

This is supposed to be one of the best in Shropshire,so we decided to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with a family meal (party of 10). We informed them that one of the party had two broken ankles, and was on crutches. We arrived, and because there was a wedding reception on we had to have our meal in the bar. We were shown to the table which was up two worn steps and so made it very difficult for the person on the crutches, who had to have help every time he went to the toilet. There was only one person serving,so instead of table service we had to go to the bar to order our drinks.the food when it arrived was at best below average. All the food was lukewarm, and look like it been standing a while, the vegetation option was inedible and cold,we were not asked if the meal was alright, there was a total lack of service right down to having to ask for our table to be cleared. I know that the excuse will be we had a wedding reception on and we were short staffed, but that is not my problem, you should make sure that you are capable of giving a normal service before taken bookings When we booked this there was no mention that we would be eating in the bar, which turned a special occasion into a below of over priced pub meal

After being recommended many times, we decided to try the Hundred House for my birthday celebration dinner. From start to finish it was faultless. The staff are professional, friendly, accommodating and service was exemplary. Our food was delicious. I had Lasagna with a generous side portion of chips. My husband had the blade of beef which was cooked beautifully. My son in law chose the Pie of the day which had sadly sold out, but our waiter offered the Bouillabaisse recommendation and our SIL said it was superb. After dining, we wandered through their enchanting gardens- an absolute must do if you visit. They are just gorgeous! We will definitely return and highly recommend.

This was our 3rd Sunday lunch here in as many months. I chose the Pork and husband had the 2 Beefs! Plenty of meat and roasts extra gravy available. Only criticism which we found on our last visits , not enough veg for 4! Although extras supplied on asking. Now to desserts! My favourite dessert did not appear on the menu this time. I was so disappointed. My brother in law said Ask if they have some,so I did. They brought out Poached Pear and ice cream and a Tuille! Absolutely gorgeous! My son and husband had burgers which in fairness they said were nice, I had the monk fish, with saffron rice and spinach it was swimming in a bisque the mussels were the best part of the meal, we then waited and waited, it was well over 2 hours since we arrived and decided it was time to leave. We asked for the the bill and if everything was ok, I said no it wasn’t and that it had spoilt my birthday, the waitress did apologise and she heavily discount the bill, but we will never go there again and I wouldn’t recommend it either, such a shame.

This time we were in the marquee & worried it may be a little too cool - but turned out the opposite - very snug & warm due to the large heaters. My sister is Glutton free & does not eat meat - but was offered plenty of choice & we never have a problem from the extensive menu offered. Good solid food choices - the lamb & duck mains both particularly good for the value. We enjoyed the experience & the dinner with a pleasant service.

We've been coming here for at least 25 years, it hasn't changed much over this time which is its appeal for us.We are in unprecedented times and with the government giving us a tenner to dine out everywhere seems busy, the HHH seemingly doing very well judging by the overflowing car park. You have to book in advance but for some reason our booking didn't get as far as the restaurant. They have erected a "glamping tent / marquee" in the garden, I assume to compensate for reduced space in the main building, or is it to accommodate the walk in trade or lost bookings? I was disappointed to find us being seated in the tent for our wedding anniversary meal. I'm afraid that rain on plastic, annoying music and a thermostatic hot air blower didn't quite do it for me, even if it did have chandeliers. Pity the wedding barn isn't available. Unfortunately the Three Tuns and Heritage Ale weren't in good order and I had to return both in favour of a safe glass of red. We went straight into the mains and had excellent sirloin and fillet steaks. I thought the trimmings to my sirloin were less than exciting and suggest the sachet condiments wouldn't be popular at a lay-by cafe.We really enjoyed the cheese cake desserts, and so we ended on a good note; until the bill arrived.

Visited with a two friends, I'll start by saying it all felt very hap hazard in regards to social distancing. It seems that this place is trying really quite hard to be a bit different and as my friend pointed out "quirky" - being different is all well and good but not when it comes with sacrifice in quality. The menu was limited, tacos, burgers or pizza were pretty much all that was on offer and not at a decent price I may add. Service confused and disjointed, dryest brioche burger bun I've had in my entire life, chips as pale as paper, burger too small for bun, taco came in one of those cheap supermarket taco shells.Dessert was great, but ice cream had half melted by the time it got to me.Bill came to about £90 for 3 mains and 3 desserts and a round of drinks - doesn't represent value for money in my opinion.

The service was warm & welcoming & plenty of attention. We ordered a selection of starters & also the lamb & duck as mains. Some of the starters we preferred to others - with the feta cheese balls & flatbread coming out on top, but the salmon & mussels also fine.. The mains were very good & my lamb was very tasty. A nice bottle of wine to top it all off - could not have been nicer. We had a wander around the lovely garden a little later & saw also the marquee - which would not have minded eating in at all. On arrival you cant deny that the venue is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by old churches and fields. However the rest of the night didn't hit any of our expectations. We walked into the bar, and had to awkwardly wait 5 minutes to be greeted. There was staff there, however they seemed uninterested and unhappy to be working again. When they finally acknowledged us we were taken to the marquee. From the way this was sold on the phone it was very disappointing. It just felt unfinished, and was very cold. On the table we were sat on, behind my partners head was a very heavy flower pot. Every time someone walked on the uneven flooring, this looked like it was about to fall. We watched it all night and it was very unsettling. We did tell them about this on the way out but again just fairly uninterested. We ordered the duck terrine and salmon starters. Starters were brought without cutlery on the table, and the terrine was very bad. No flavour, just meat sat in jelly. No chutney, no bread or texture. The salmon starter was much better in comparison. Then for mains we had the Lamb and Duck. Both were very underwhelming. The meat had a taste, that could only be described as burnt seasoning or perhaps carbon filled pans. They looked very nice, however neither of us enjoyed them and I left half of my lamb. No checkbacks had been done to see if everything was ok. Then to finish I had the charred peaches, which was by far the nicest thing I had eaten. However presented in a glass and still abit tuff, it was very difficult to eat with a spoon and so another course I didnt finish. We left cold and fairly hungry, so wont be returning. Definitely book for inside and not the marquee.

We were a party of 6 and all left very disappointed with the quality of food. We felt this place is now more geared towards being a wedding venue rather than an independent restaurant. There was a very limited menu with only one vegetarian option. We all found the descriptions of the meal to be a lot more inviting than the actual plate of food that was served- For example one person ordered the Monkfish, Mussels and cray fish risotto £20 -there were 2 unshelled mussels and one crayfish in the whole dish topped with the smallest amount of monkfish- DisappointingWe chose to come here instead of a larger chain style restaurant hoping for a better standard of food but to be totally honest the food just did not live up to the- Expectations/Reviews or £165 bill.

We attended the early sitting at 6pm for the Game Night which proved to be very popular as seems they had a full house & can accommodate more diners than I imagined. Obviously based around local game dishes - we were impressed with the variety on the menu & happy with all the dishes that came out - even the kids meals. Stand outs were the pigeon & pheasant dishes for us. Also good wine selection available & we went with the ever popular Malbec. Friendly service & reasonable pricing for the quality. We booked up again whilst we were there for the tapas evening in March.

Would recommend this place for a pint or for food. We had a group of 9 for an xmas/birthday family meal in which we had the xmas menu. I am always err to the side of caution as the quality in many nice restaurants tend to drop as food is prepared in bulk (with an eye on profits). However, Hundred house was pleasantly surprising with a decent selection on the menu with plenty of fish, meat and veg options. From starter to desert the food was great, the staff were on hand and attentive, as well as a large selection of local ales!

When you walk in you instantly notice the charm and character of this old building and you are met by warm and welcoming staff. A great selection of real ales and an extensive gin list kicked off our evening perfectly! We both ate front the Christmas menu which had a great selection of meals to choose from and great value - 3 courses for £30! When our food arrived it was presented beautifully and tasted amazing; packed full of flavour and cleaver food combinations. The attentiveness of our waiter was exceptional, he was knowledgeable and even told us the recipe for the Festive rum tea that finished our dining experience off perfectly. We have been returning to this restaurant for many years and on each and every visit we are always bowled over by the delicious food and brilliant staff. We would highly recommend!

Absolutely fabulous meal. The food was truly lovely from starters to dessert, all served by staff who were friendly, attentive and helpful. There was even a surprise dessert for my wife. Can't believe we've waited so long to try this lovely venue.

I would say the only downfall I had about this place was the parking, found it difficult to get a space. But if that’s all I came complain about, then you should definitely go in!

We visited as a group of 7 inclusive of two children. We ate off the set menu which offered a great range for all members of the party. I believe the cost to be 21.95 for three courses or 19.95 for two courses. Some items off the menu had additional supplements of a couple of pounds.

Spiste middag her en av kveldene vi var på hotellet. God service og god mat. Kan anbefale stedet. Spesiell atmosfære i et flere århundre gammel bygg. Familiedrevet og hyggelig vertskap.

The food was delicious and the place itself was very nice and cosy. However the food was rather overpriced. Although delicious, it was just expensive for the portion sizes.

In need of a relaxing lunch break, we headed here as we know it well and we were not disappointed. Warm and friendly welcome, ale from The Philips Brewery was well served as was the white wine. Our lunch choice was leak and potato soup, lasagne, beef sandwiches, really tasty and well presented. A shared treacle tart and great coffees finished us off before a relaxing walk around the gardens. A great food and hotel venue, with great food and super staff.

Was disappointed with my meal, the starter was okay, the main course was terrible the beef was cold and tasteless, the veggies were not cooked properly they were hard , the potatoes were cold and tasteless unable to be eaten, some of the other guests managed to eat some of their lunch. Very disappointing visit.

Delicious food, beautifully presented. I had Australian visitors and the only disappointment was there was no proper flat white coffee but everything else was excellent

We came here on a Sunday for my birthday dinner. The pub itself is beautiful, very old and it is stunning. The Sunday menu was fantastic and so tasty. There was a kids menu but we were told they could do anything on either menu in a kids portion. The staff were so friendly and helpful. But the biggest surprise were their gardens out the back. It was beautiful and like a little Narnia. Such a wonderful hidden treasure. I will definitely be back

Charming looking pub with lots of wood and character plus an interesting menu with some specials. Food quality was above average for a pub – well presented and very tasty. My wife thought her sea bass dish was wonderful & I loved the black pudding stack. Very friendly staff and some good ales. In fact everything you would want in a country gastronomic pub. Well worth a visit.

We've eaten here quite a few times for dinner, but this time we booked for a large family gathering for a Sunday lunch. The service and food were fantastic! From starters to puddings and coffees - one of our party had a custard fetish and the chef even prepared two extra servings for her. Couldn't really fault anything (apart from a slight delay with one serving, but it was the waitresses first ever shift so all forgiven!).

As non-drivers, Hundred House is somewhere we only ever really get to visit with family but it's always such an absolute treat. The dining area is so cosy and inviting, full of quirky décor without being garish. The service is friendly and the food is always superb - a blend of hearty, honest, traditional fare with modern, exciting twists. We absolutely love it.

I'm really glad to say the Lion is back, a great selection of beers and lagers including real ales, they also have Heineken zero on draught if you're looking for the alcohol free alternative. The food is excellent, freshly cooked with no complaints from our party. The staff were very friendly and polite and took everything in their stride.

Ordered a cookies dough, waffle and two milkshakes. I collected my order for 8pm, although it wasn't ready at 8pm, I was giving a free ice cream for my 5 min extra wait as an apology. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and saved myself £4.50 on delivery (bonus) I asked the staff about parking and was informed to input my reg into their data to get 30mins free, leaving with no fine! Again another bonus I'd say! Very pleased with food, milkshakes and staff.

We stayed at the hotel and decided to have our evening meal there too. The staff were really polite and helpful. The food was exceptional. We had a three course meal and the food was beautiful. Thanks to all the chef team for beautifully displayed food which tasted even better.
