Throughly dissatisfied with everything about my visit to this chip shop tonight. Took an age for the food to be cooked and wrapped, the staff were so young and disorganised, waiting for them to wrap my order was just painful to watch! The xl cod was tiny, the large chips were small and the sausage in batter was so hard, like it had been sitting there all day! Terrible! Will not be going back!

Wonderful as usual. The haddock was fresh and cooked well . We never go anywhere else.

The star of the show was 1st the food, followed by the service, the seating area and value for money. Must go back soon.

Right, so to begin, I love this shop, genuinely my favourite chippy in all of England. First of all, the food. Now the food is amazing, to the point where I now know exactly what to get anytime I enter the shop. The service too is brilliant, with you getting your food in 2-5 minutes. As well as the above, the dining-in experience is also amazing with a lovely seating area, including a lovely overview of the streets below. Overall I think it's clear that I love Humphreys, and everyone else should too.

Very good fish, chips and sausage. Weird that if you ask for a receipt you still get one hand written, something I haven't seen in a while. If you're driving, parking next to the restaurant is almost impossible but there's a car park 1 minutes walk

Staff are very good. Food tho is very average here at best! Greasey batter and chips. They have never done any southern fried chicken either. Owner, Come on you could really clean up here, make it better! People love a decent fish and chip shop!

Bought large chip and battered sausage to share with my grandson for lunch the chips where perfect and there where a lot of them battered sausage also perfect first time I've been in and will definitely be going back

Chips were nice. Just a warning though the fried chicken is unseasoned / unbattered.. literally just chicken fried in oil. Wouldn’t recommend ordering the chicken. Good service though

Had an absolutely fantastic meal here with my kids. The weather was lovely so we went for a picnic. The food was fresh, hot, tasty and just what we needed. Can't fault it. Hope it stays this good. Hard to get a good fish and chips locally these days.

Worst fish and chip shop to ever exist

On entering the premises I noticed how filthy and dirty it was which made me very hesitant to order however I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I ordered haddock and chips the haddock was uncooked the batter was raw the chips were soggy and brown, at £8.40 I feel like I’ve been robbed.

On arrival the entrance mat was almost walking out the door on its own ! Grimey and unloved is an understatement. Uncooked chips on the floor behind the counter. Disappointed.

Maybe I was just unlucky as it was my first visit here, ordered Haddock and Chips, poor chips and very poor batter. It comes wrapped in 2 separate trays which I don’t think helps things and the fish just sticks to the tray. The first time in ages that I haven’t wanted to finish the fish and chips.

This is one of the best fish and chip shops I've been to, the food is outstanding, the staff are very attentive and courteous. The restaurant is bright and airy I've had many a meal in the restaurant with either friends or family

On going in to place order I could see 1 menber of male staff with hair down that should have been under a hat or in a hair net. Placed my order, cheese burger with salad with red sauce, burger with salad and burger sauce plus chips. What we got was burgers with no salad apart from one with 2 bits of tomato and no red sauce. Very disappointed

Don't bother preordering, they don't tell you properly over the phone but you basically still have to order when you get there and then wait for them to do it. I had placed my order hours before at 4pm and still waited in the queue for 20 minutes and then waited inside for another 10 minutes for my food. I also had preordered 1 pot of mushy peas but they said they'd forgotten to do mine. I could see multiple pots of mushy peas on the hot plate thing but they said they were for other orders and wouldn't give any to me. Then a woman walks in after me saying she ordered at 6pm and they gave her mushy peas! What the hell? I kept asking as well and they just point blank refused to give me any :( and the woman behind me even offered me hers and said it didn't make sense, which was very nice of her but obviously I didn't take hers. Anyway apart from that the foods usually nice, but its not the same without mushy peas

A great little fish and chip shop - good sized portions & a large range of items available. They have sensible social distancing in place, including phoning ahead. Chips were lovely, and the fish had a nice tasting batter - a little thick for my preference - but lovely and crispy, so was demolished with great aplomb

5 min wait but that was because they were frying from scratch. They were the best chips I've had in ages. One of the largest pieces of haddock I've seen in a long time and a large sausage and a large battered sausage were both enjoyed by the grandson. Don't live in the area but next time I'll be back.

Portions can be small. Owner is a bit distant not interacting with his customers, not even a smile but the servers are all hard working and very pleasant . Food quality is very good

As I enter this new looking establishment I take a look at the staircase to my right. I sense this is a little more than the standard chip shop. As I look around I see specials dotted on the walls . I look up and see a well laid out board of common chip shop essentials. I order an array of foods including the X-Large Haddock and chips. I ask about eating in, at this point they mention the restaurant hidden away upstairs. I decide to eat at the counter downstairs. With all good things there is a wait. It was worth it. Of the chip shops in the area the quality of the food here is best. The haddock was sumptuous, dripping with clear oil in its battered format. The chips, cooked to perfection. The only element missing from the format? The mush in the mushy peas (they were over cooked) and A warm welcoming smile and small talk. The quality of the food though speaks volumes.

We hired out the whole upstairs restaurant (34 people) and it was amazing. Nothing was a problem for Chris & Chris the owners and they made sure everything was prepared for beforehand. The waitresses were fantastic and friendly. We had food and ice cream and then stayed for a few hours afterwards for drinks. They have a terrace as well which gets the sun a lot of the day. The food was perfect with large portion sizes and we had nothing but positive feedback from all of our guests. They made our day special and we can't thank them enough for hosting it for us, I could not recommend them any more
