Normally the food is good from here, but the last takeaway was dreadful! Unwrapped our portions of chips and they were so oily, and were just squashed into a big greasy ball! could barely separate them and we're impossible to get off the paper...couldn't eat them! Don't know what happened there but unfortunately wont be ordering again!

Ordererd chips and hamburger . I can honsetly say it was the wrost take away ive ever had , the chips were absoloutely shocking , how can anyone send chips out like that , they honsetly looked & tasted like they had been left over from the day before . The burger was completly overdone , almost burnt , it tasted awful , so dry ...never again . It just seems no care and attention put into the food , no effort whatsoever

Fish was really dry the last time I had it and I wouldn't go back thier agian.

I ordered 3 x fish bites 15 pound they were all batter o paid 15 for batter pieces no exaggeration no white to be seen in any of the fish items of any did have a tingly bit of fish it was burnt to a rock and couldn't eat it even the dog walked away from them I never complain amd I relise way things are but prices have gone up to reflect that so you can not charge more for less it was just batter very disappointed indeed I treat a week and it was a waste of money disgusting is not the word

I received my food it tastes C*** 5 minutes later it went in the bin. That's all I have to say about this establishment.

Ordered 2 large cod 2 chips onion rings and a bettered sausage the batter on the fish is the worst I’ve ever seen or tasted. Batter is thin and soggy. It’s not light and crispy like it should be. The fish itself was very dry. The onion rings again were awful and soggy and the sausage again the batter was terrible. Waste of money first time I’ve used them and would never order again. How can a chip shop not even know how to make proper batter. We only ate the chips as it was so bad so we paid nearly £30 to eat some chips. Really really bad.

Nice staff but awful place for food I ordered chicken bites and when I got back to eat them they are all squidgy chicken tastes chewy and batter was sloppy when called up to tell them instead of sorting it they said that's how there served very disappointed 😞

My food took 2 and a half hours to arrive when ringing to see where my food was they appeared to be getting frustrated with me. When my food arrived it was cold and very greasy do not recommend this fish and chip shop

First time ordering this evening- easy phone order and payment via link sent to mobile. Cod and chips were lovely, delivered piping hot by cheerful polite staff.

Fantastic! Cod was the best I've tasted in this town. Rock was also very good. Portions of chips are humongous. Service always polite and with a big smile.

First time ordering from here it was by far the best fish and chips I've had in a long time the kids totally enjoyed theirs too who had savaloy and chicken burger, totally will order again super fast delivery happy mummy with a happy tummy!!!

Placed an order last night. Was told an hour for delivery. 2 hours later I recieved my order with 2 items missing. A business suited to a town like Hastings - amateurish. Avoid like the plague !

Been ordering from here a lot during covid times, the food is always good for the price. It is a lot cheaper than basically all the other chippy's that deliver. The only downside is the delivery times can be AWFUL. I've had up to a 2 hour wait some times. But the delivery times in the past month or so from posting this review have been better 30-45mins.

Been using this chip shop for nearly two here years . Had to go outside as I had a cough ( I suffer from chronic rhinitis ) . Explained I didn’t have covid , came back in and the young girl was talking to the other assistant saying she didn’t want to get covid . Have not and will not use them again

I've just bumped this place up a few stars. For the last few months we've been buying chips from there they have been great.

Never had bad food. But I don't like think bater. Been eating there food for over 10 yrs with two owners.

Ordered here many times and super tasty... Tonight ordered at half 5 estimated delivery was 18:55 by 19:15 no food rang them.. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed... However less then 10 minutes later the food arrived... Again food was super kids ate the lot... ☹️☹️☹️ Should of ordered me some 🤣🤣 but I'm writing this review because people need to be aware ordering on a Friday or Saturday just be patient... It will come and as from day one amazing food definetly worth the wait... Fridays and Saturdays are busy for all takeaways.... Amazing can't wait to order again

Food was ok, but they got the order wrong due to staff having some banter and a flirt... Not very professional and left one of our group not being able to eat the food wrongly provided.

We are a family of 3 wanting a delivery to a local caravan park. Rang to ask if they would deliver, fab service over the phone, polite and friendly. Delivery was perfectly on time with a phone call to say they were nearby. Delicious food, lovely and hot. Highly recommend

Good fish and chips. Excellent service. Quick delivery via Just Eat to Caravan Club Site. Shop even phoned me to check order as I had ordered extra chips by mistake, which they refunded me.

Waited 2 hours after ordering through deliveroo only for the restaurant to mark the order as delivered, meaning that Deliveroo refunded the order and I get no food. If I could give zero stars I would. Avoid this restaurant at all costs!

Ordered via Justeat advised delivery within 45mins when ordering, fine. No food after 1 hr 45 mins called up and told another half an hour - first and last experience of this fish bar!

The food is good if you can go in and pick it up yourself.... but tonight’s home delivery was diabolical! Ordered 5:45, Estimated delivery 6:45 (thought fair enough it’s Saturday evening) Delivered 7:35 It was just lukewarm and most has gone in the bin as It was not nice to eat and cold before we’d eaten much.... I wish they’d be honest if they’re really busy.... It’s Not fair making people wait that long, it’s a treat for a lot of people as money is tight. I can’t say if it was in an insulated bag as it was only in a paper bag at my front door... it should still be hot as I’ve bought in the shop and driven home and it’s hot without a proper insulated bag... Not good, unfair and no apology!

Just ordered from here online. We used to get great fish and chips from Hughenden Fish Bar. Ordered fish and chips for three. The chips were completely inedible. Foul tasting - tasted like they’d been fried in oil that’s gone off. Really hard and brittle - suspect they’ve been heated up more than once. I’m fuming. We’ve wasted £20 and had to throw the entire lot in the bin! About to order another take-away as none of us could eat this food - it was that bad. And I can eat most things. Really angry. How dare you flog food like this. Totally unacceptable.

Very disappointed, the fish tasted like it had been sat for too long, the chips weren’t fresh and the saveloys were mushy on the inside, like patte. I will not be ordering again and will not be recommending this place. When you pay good money for food, you expect it to be good.

Portions of chips smaller than before but that's ok as they were huge. food arrived cold. Lots of oil draining out of the battered fish which was very off putting. This has happened last few times maybe time to try somewhere else

Had fish and chips delivered they arrived hot and tasty the chip portions were a bit smaller than usual but this isn't a bad thing as usually massive.

Just ordered delivery from here told 30 mins was nearly an hour when food came it was cold and greasy. So phoned to complain they done a new lot of food cod came even be greasier and didn't look like cod more like coley as to flat to be cod. Needs to improve standards.

We ordered chicken bites for my daughter they was off ordered 12 only got 6. Saveloy for myself was soft poppy and had a strange taste. The chips were rock solid clearly reheats also had a strange taste to them. I wouldn't even give this food to the homeless or animals place needs shutting down

Under new management food not as nice prices gone up always load of staff behind counter makes it uncomfortable to walk in with all the eyes staring at you not very friendly used to come there a lot won’t go back again

Got to say it was the most disgusting food I have ever tasted. Took 2 hours to get here. Obviously been reheated. My wife's lettuce on her rock hard burger looked like a snotty tissue. The batter on my fish was like concrete The chips were just lump a of mess. Will never ever use again. Would give zero stars if I could

Used to go here all the time and loved the food but recently gone extremely downhill. Ordered from here and the chips were soggy and clumped together. Also, the burger had a hair inside it! The only thing that was nice was the fish which I’d recommend but everything else was disappointing. Won’t be returning :(

We have always eaten regularly from here but it’s recently gone downhill. Extremely greasy batter on the fish and oil didn’t seem fresh. Chicken portion was literally like cardboard, so over cooked. Chips were just ok. Such a shame as this was our go to fish and chip shop. But until the food here improves we won’t be returning

Love this place, food is always made fresh and that really comes through in the taste. Prices are absolutely fair and there is seriously nowhere else I'll go for fish and chips. This place isn't exactly close to me but they can deliver and the quality of the food is in no way affected. And they always say 45-60min wait; but ignore that, I've always had it in 20-30mins.

With a recent change of ownership, this fish and chip shop is now top-notch with newly extended hours too!

Been here many times but last night the chips were awful didnt look or taste fresh its was almost as if they had been reheated .

I am so, so disappointed with my last order. The fish was certainly not Cod (too flat), and had no taste to it. The batter on all the 3 pieces was rank (half cooked and over cooked). The chips and pie was ok-ish but have had better. Sorry Hughenden, but you have really gone down hill :(

Extremely small and measly size large cod .really thick batter so cod even smaller spoke to owner he says that what it is Had a jumbo saveloy which wasn't. It was no bigger than a standard . No way will I eat from there again (dreadful)

Really tiny portions of fish and 'jumbo' saveloy is just a standard size. When I rang to enquire if we had been served the correct sizes the owner was rude and dismissive. I have seen more fish on a fishfinger and will certainly not be using this place ever again. A shame as it is now our local and we eat it regularly but the owner obviously does not care so I will go elsewhere

Had some lovely fish and chips delivered recently from Hughenden Fish Bar. We live the other side of town and they arrived early and still very hot. The lady who delivered them was very nice and they didn't charge a delivery fee. Highly recommended.

We have had fish & chips from here before but they have only just started delivering as far as i'm aware. BUT, we think it's possibly the best fish and chips we have had in Hastings. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed. AND even though we are in St Leonards, they were still nice and hot by the time they got to us. 1st class service.
