I’ve been a few times since working in Bournemouth the last couple of months & whatever cake I get as a treat is brilliant. To be critical there is a lot of icing on he cupcakes, but they look great. The brownies are the best thing they do, both the peanut butter version & the caramel version are beyond good!

Stumbled across this cafe. Nice easy wheelchair access and nice and quiet when we went. Good value and nice simple sandwiches without all the fussy extras you can get elsewhere. Very friendly staff and freshly made sandwiches were nice. Cream tea was good value at £4.75 (£2.20 cheaper than English heritage yesterday). Would recommend this cafe just off the main shopping areas.

We stopped off for cuppa and cake. It was absolutely beautiful. The appetising window display drew us inside and we were not disappointed with our choices! I am a flapjack person normally but chose an ice cream styled cupcake. So very tasty. My 12 year old had toffee popcorn on his cupcake and described it as he was eating it! Very satisfied. My husband had my favourite.... flapjack and this also (I tried a bit!!) was delicious. Instead of buying a piece to take away we decided on another visit before we go home. Definitely worth a visit.

My friend took me for afternoon tea as a birthday treat and we had a lovely time. The owner had already set up our table for when we arrived and it looked amazing! The brownies were cooked perfectly... They were my favourite ❤️The owner is so lovely and friendly! This is why I am a regular customer because I always feel very welcomed and think the sweet treats are cooked perfectly! I will continue to keep coming back and support such a friendly independent coffee and cupcake shop :)

Popped into Huckleberrys today to grab two cupcakes to takeaway. On my second bite of mine (sticky toffee) I had a mouthful with something in that I couldn’t bite through. I had to spit it out. I rinsed the hard object which genuinely could not be bitten through, to find what looked like a pecan nut. We tried to snap it but couldn’t so we used our sharpest knife to cut through it to check what it was. After a lot of force my husband managed to cut it and it appeared to be a nut, but a completely inedible one. Just glad I didn’t break a tooth! Won’t be going back, as I’ve since noticed their hygiene rating - 2!

What a lovely find! Huckleberry’s afternoon tea was delicious and excellent value. The cakes and sandwiches were so fresh and tasty and the scones were warm and huge! Easily enough to feed four adults with an afternoon tea for two. My toddler loved it and the staff were friendly and accommodating, they offered to make her a free babycino and there were books and games to keep her entertained. All for £12.95 each, we will definitely be going again.

Had a toasted sandwich and coffee as a quick pit stop. It said cheese and ham but turned out it was cheese and tomato instead. Whilst not overly keen on tomatoes I tucked in anyway and wished hadn’t. The tomatoes were the ends that most places throw away and the cheese was completely tasteless. Overall, the place looked like it needed a deep clean. The back of the till needed a wipe down and all the nooks and crannies of the table and oil heater next to my seat hadn’t been cleaned for a while. The teaspoons were tea stained and the place seemed a bit soulless with the radio playing in the background. Simple things to correct but got the impression they’re focus is cake baking not a running a cafe.

I passed this place on the way to the shops and wanted to double back to revisit. By the time we returned, most of the cupcakes were gone but I was still able to try a chocolate one. Loved the Dorset Tea Strawberries and Cream tea, paired perfectly with the chocolate cupcake. It was a little dry but it was not too sweet, which balanced well with the sweetness of the frosting/icing. Otherwise - a clean, cozy shop and great for afternoon tea.

As a farm kid from Ohio, the smells of my mother's kitchen were truly amazing and everpresent. Here was a woman who because of love, and frugality, could cook, grill, fry, and most impressively....BAKE! I have lived nearly seven decades now, five of them away from Mom's kitchen. But, she has remained, both by love, and by memory, my idea of good taste. And smells of course! Nearly two years ago, while on one of our families frequent visits to Bournemouth from our Oxford home, we came across a new storefront....after hours. The shop window looked like a Madison Avenue vision of children's nirvana.....row upon row of perfect, PERFECT, cupcakes. All organised by style and flavour. Not carrying my glass cutter at the time, and having more than once experienced the sensations of my hand breaking through glass....we decided to make an appointment with destiny the very first thing in the morning. Gervis Street twists quickly away from the eastern side of the Victorian Gardens....just enough that you have no real vision of what lies ahead.....was this the street of the previous night, did I remember correctly, would the cakes all be sold if I were any later.....this drew me on, and around the twist...and there it was...the scent! The scent of Mom's kitchen....but wait, obviously it could not be, not in the UK....not in Bournemouth, and not with this particular heady scent....Mom's kitchen, with the exceptions of Thanksgiving and Christmas, had a...singular scent....the pie, the cake, the bread the doughnuts, the....cupcakes....she only made one dish at a time....THIS scent was ...HUGE...like a dream I had one night of a Saturday night in my boyhood home....follow your nose Rand.....use your common....scents...and just beyond the Gervis twist....there it was. My hands on the window to give me strength and support, eyes darting from the cosmic visual circus of a hundred CUPCAKES, in desperation I spotted...the door.....as the handle assisted me in my haste to access, the door opened slowly...this is a DOOR...all glass, heavy, protective, perhaps the last barrier between myself and the delicacies in that window. I entered, nose on the alert...identifying, losing my bearings in the intoxicating scents within....the room, glorious, and emporium for the coming hedonism....I approached the counter, eyes darting at the listing of the cakes of the day. What to choose...what to CHOOSE....something familiar, perhaps, something radical even? And then it struck me....I am in Bournemouth...for the....weekend. I have all the time in the world and a VISA card. I placed my order, the owner's hands enter the sanctuary of the cake filled window, and secured my choice, my dream....soon to be ....ecstasy. I beautiful black Americano accompanied my cake to the table...and it began. Like an addict in an opium den....I fell....into the world of the most beautiful cupcake I had ever experienced....my world changed, my standards...shifted...my smile...broadened....heaven...Huckleberry's...Huckleberry's I..the name rolls through my brain like the name of a new love....and...it is. We return now, often....every trip to Bournemouth has at least one visit each day....our most recent being a trip to celebrate my Wife's birthday. In advance I did the only preparation required for the trip...I phoned Huckleberry's. I told them there would be three of us, I wanted a one cupcake the size appropriate to feed six. When we cleared the twist of Gervis, and the scent lead us in...there is was...in everlasting glory...the largest cupcake I had ever seen...it was...SPECTACULAR! So, boys and girls...when you visit Bournemouth, off the east side of the bottom of the Victorian Garden you will spot the sign....GERVIS...take the leap, follow the twist, enter the world of Huckleberry's...tell them Rand sent you...tell them I said it would be the best experience of their LIVE'S, tell them to order their heart's desire, tell them to return in the afternoon...tell them Rand said it is the best cupcake in the UNIVERSE....but please....don't tell Mom.

The cupcakes are very nice, but it seems they don't seem to have a system in place where cupcakes which have run out are quickly replaced the next day or at least the day after. I came here three times over the space of a month to ask if they had any red velvet cupcakes and each time I was told they don't have any today... Why not make an obviously very popular flavour more regularly? It was a red velvet cake from Huckleberry's that I had at a friends birthday many years ago which got me hooked. The staff are also a bit unwelcoming and very often the place is empty, which for me speaks volumes. Why don't they do a cupcake and coffee for say £3? It would attract many more people to come in and would perhaps turn the place into a more sociable haven.

I've bought a few baked goods numerous times and some of it was good while others were dry. Last time I went there, the lady who was there didn't seem friendly let alone welcoming. I had seen her before and prompted to ask if she was the owner. I was surprised to hear that she was indeed. I'm not sure what her issue could be but I'm going to find overpriced baked goods some place else where I feel welcomed.

This place is fabulous. Just visited here this afternoon with my family and sister in law and her ickle baby. It's a lovely space, super clean and bright with a great choice in seating. Now onto the cakes and believe me, I am a complete cake snob. I don't usually enjoy cakes in coffee shops these days as they are always dry and crap no matter how pretty the premises. I'd rather make my own however the cakes here are amazing. Best way to judge is to try the brownies and if they're dry then that's it for me, I don't even finish them and walk out in disgust. So we had 3 different cupcakes and a red velvet brownie and some tea to wash it down. The brownie was exceptional, moist with a lovely crust and sensational frosting. The cupcakes were brilliant with equally tasty frosting and happy faces all round. Will deffo have to get some to take home on our 500+ mile journey home. Can't speak highly enough of this wee gem of a place.

Went in this afternoon. Had an amazing coffee but couldn’t but help feel like they were understaffed today. They were all rushing around working as hard as they could, but definitely could do with an Extra pair of hands. However, will not fault the quality of the coffee as it was amazing as normal. Don’t know if it’s an issue with lack of employees available or if that’s all they could put on at once but I felt as thought the level of service dropped due to this.

We've been meeting up monthly there for a good few months for something to eat. It's got a good menu and the food is. OK Recently we've come across a middle aged bloke working there who is rude and sarcastic so we'll find somewhere else in Charminster to meet up.

The staff were very rude and the building was unsafe and can cause you injuries. I went to the toilet to wash my hands and accidentally hit the top of my head on the door frame when leaving the bathroom (which was too low, despite me only being 5'11"). After I explained to whoever was in charge that I hit my head on the door frame in the toilet, she said that I should "use my eyes" and that there was writing on the other door frames (but not the one I hit my head on) and that I should look where I am going in the future like "normal people". I tried to explain that all that was needed was some padding or something colourful to stop people hitting their heads but she wasn't interested in my recommendations and was extremely rude and disrespectful, insisting that the writing she had was enough warning, and that it was my own fault I was injured. Not only was I left with a severe headache but was also treated so rudely and disrespectfully by a member of staff I'm never going back here again and recommend everyone else avoid this place also.

Unfortunately we did not see the sign that said take a seat and someone would be with you shortly. We asked the girl behind the counter for a coffee and a tea, she took the order and we showed her where we would be sitting, informing us she would come over and take the order. Another man came in went straight to the counter and ordered food and drink and went and sat down. So my husband went up to the counter and asked for a bacon and sausage sandwich to be told .... "I can't do everything at once, I'm making you coffee and tea" and threw her hands up in the air. She was so rude, I could not believe she spoke to a customer that way. I work in customer service and I would have been sacked for speaking to a customer that way on the spot. It was not busy and she was certainly not run off her feet. Lesson in customer service 1 Hello how can I help you 2 Please take a seat and I will be with shortly 3 Go to table and take the order and smile!! and say "I will make your drinks and you food order will be with you shortly 4 Upsell - ask the customer if there is anything else I can help you with Positive .... the sandwich was lovely.
