This used to be a great wee place. It's sadly gone downhill. Told we had to wait, which was no issue, but when we got to our table, we had to another 10mins, only to be told they were only taking drinks orders. Ordered a coffee and a soft drink, and it arrived and was drunk before the food order was taken 15mins later!! It's tasty food, but the portions are small, and it's expensive for what you get. My hubby stood at the till for 10mins waiting to pay. Staff were coming and going, and not one apologised for the delay. It used to have a lovely atmosphere with the staff being chatty and helpful. All that is gone, and we are sad to say that we won't return in a hurry. Such a shame.

Planned trip for lunch with a friend. Table pre booked. Lovely setting & Househill has been restructured since my last visit. Plenty of room, nice ambiance and staff who are both friendly and absolutely on point, happy & clearly enjoying their job. The menu options for lunch were many. The food was excellent. Front of house first class. Busy, but relaxing, An absolute treat to visit.

Popped in for lunch and ordered fish and chips. Very disappointing plate with skinny fries and barely cooked fish, also in too much very salty batter. No peas or any sauce offered. What has gone wrong with this place, it used to be so nice. Visited the loos to see adverts for staff, perhaps that is the problem. Noticed as well that staff looked miserable, always a bad sign...

Staff unfriendly and unprofessional, teenage girls with bad attitude. Food a shadow of its former self. Small fish and chips now comes without salad or crushed peas but up in price yet again.

Arrived at 10.30, not particularly busy. Lot of people had already been served. One large group at a single table had already received their breakfasts. We were shown to our table and given the menus. Five or so minutes later the waitress came back to the table and we thought she was going to take our order, but instead she advised us that they had a large unexpected group of people to cater for, who I may add, could not be seen, and that we would have a long wait for service even though she did not even ask us what we wanted to order. It was in fact a coffee and a breakfast roll. We often visit Househill, but the customer service today was shocking......needless to say we left and were very unhappy at how we had been treated. Been going there for years, and always had great service from previous owners, but won't be returning.

Yet another disappointing Sunday morning at Househill Cafe & Farmshop, this is now the 7th time we have been refused breakfast. For 7 years we have been going here, usually every other Sunday for breakfast in the past, but since the new owners took over, even when you arrive 13 minutes BEFORE the stated 'last orders for breakfast' time, they still say no...... Why state last orders for breakfast is 11.15 then say it is too late at 11.02??? Liz sent a polite message explaining our frustration.......There were only about 8 cars in the car-park, there were at least 8 or 10 empty tables.....only to be sent this slightly sarky reply....... Obviously customer service is not a priority....... Need to book!!!! So in a holiday area they cannot handle passing trade?? This is their reply: "This only happens when we are very busy. We aim to get everyone in for breakfast but on busy days we can’t always do that. We have a booking system to get people in at a reasonable time but we are a very popular place for breakfast and unfortunately can’t keep everyone happy. And turning up under 15 minutes before the end of breakfast on a Sunday isn’t the best option for getting breakfast. We are sorry we couldn’t give you the experience you were looking for and hope you find somewhere that can accommodate you on what will be the busiest day of the week for most restaurants." Such a shame, used to be a lovely warm and friendly place.......

Excited to see the new shop and restaurant area. Booked a table. 20 mins wait to order drinks. Told we couldn't order food yet as " "kitchen backed up" (place wasn't full) Once we did order food came very quickly. Burgers nice but could've done with salad garnish or something else £15 felt a bit steep. Same with fish and chips, peas or garnish would have made a real difference. Two young waitresses seemed sweet but just milling about about behind the till. Just one woman taking orders. no one checked if our food was okay, no one came once we'd finished, we ended up leaving without coffees/cake. Just felt that with a tweak this place could be really super....but lacking a bit of care and attention.

Saturday lunch, busy, busy, busy. Waitress gave us her time to explain gluten free options on the menu. Food was served quickly, drinks even more quickly. I had the burger. Glad to see it was 100% cooked meat. I'm not a fan of raw meat that has been minced. Burger just came with chips. My companion had the chilli and garlic Indian spiced chicken skewer. This came on a bed of julienne slaw. The non gluten free version would have had a flat bread under it. Chicken very succulent, sauce for my companions palleate a bit too strong. Passed this on at payment, and it was acknowledged as that. I tried it and it was very spiced. We know for next time.

We have been here a few time and have always enjoyed the food. On our last visit everything was fine but the service was definitely below par.Table was slow to clear and it was an effort to order coffee and cake. Also on leaving I stood waiting to pay for five minutes whilst two waitresses engaged in conversation ignored me. A young waitress who was carrying a tray for another table stopped what she was doing to help settle my bill.Bit disappointed really

Went to Househill for a nice family lunch. Ordered a soup for our daughter which came straight away and then a burger and a salad for myself and my partner. We waited close to AN HOUR and no food arrived. I asked how much longer and was told they didn't know and would check. 10 minutes later still no sign of our food, bearing in mind a table of six came in just before us and had been served their food and left! We decided to just pay for the soup and leave. I was extremely disappointed with this service and by the end my daughter was very agitated and crying after being sat in a high chair for so long. I will NOT be returning!

Went there for breakfast with friends. Our order was taken and served quickly enough but oh dear the presentation left a lot to be desired. My 4 item breakfast looked as if it had been hastily put together, the eggs were so small they could have been pullers eggs and looked as if half the white had been cut off. My friend had the French toast and though it tasted ok it too looked as if it had been thrown together. This was our first time here and our last.

I regularly go here with friends and family and they are normally very good however one time we went in and there was no seats and the more mature staff just stood and stared at us without saying anything or apologising for the inconvenience which was extremely rude. The younger staff are lovely and always extremely helpful and friendly, the older ladies can often be rude.

Excellent place for a light lunch and coffee while shopping at Household Farm. Highly recommended, especially the scones.

Visited this cafe once again last week. The coffee and cakes ( ample selection) are excellent. The staff are very friendly and courteous. The soup and baked potatoes look very appetising. Will visit again when in the area.

This is a lovely little restaurant on the outskirts of Nairn on the Grantown Road. It is part of a complex including a farm shop and a furniture shop. There is ample parking.

My partner and I really wanted some pancakes for breakfast, we came all the way from kinloss as the reviews on them were great. So disappointing that we couldn't even get here as it is marked wrong on the maps and the post code takes you somewhere in the middle of a housing estate.

Won't be back the owner is so rude . If you pay for drinks in a pub hotel . You expect a thank you. Total anti children our three year old was chatting and we Heard the owners rude comment about him . Also we took her seat . The poor lass who runs hand and foot for this person is so friendly it's the only reason we stayed so long . Won't be back and won't recommend to any of our family and friends that visit the port . Maybe someone will take over the Caledonian and make it a hotel and pub again . We have been visiting the port for 40 years and haven't experienced the unfriendly signal we got from the castle hotel .

What a fantastic find on our recent visit to Inverness. Brilliant wee cafe with extremely friendly staff. Great menu and selection of fresh cakes. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and to top it all they are doggy friendly which meant we didn’t need to leave our 14yr old pooch in the car. Would definitely recommend a visit.
