The curry goat and the noodle soup was okay, but the service was just not worth the price we payed for the food and the experience as a whole. My partner got his drink and was able to have it with the food, whereas my green tea did not come and even when we asked for it again it was obvious that they had forgotten it. I was so nice about the matter I asked the lady at the counter to cancel the green tea and the momos- that had also failed to arrive- as we had already finished our food and had to leave. The lady refused to give us a refund for the momos even though I literally saw the man behind her putting them in the fryer as I was speaking to her. She gave me £2 back for the green tea, when it said £2.50 on the menu. When we got the Momos they were disgusting, so greasy and half frozen, we had to chuck them. The fact that 12.5% service charge is added on to the bill is ridiculous. This place is a scam.

What a hidden gem! Amazing Nepalese food and really friendly service. The goat curry was to die for, the thali is perfect and I really liked the MoMo’s! Definitely coming back.

The owner of the restaurant was very rude and racially abusive. He also threatened to physically assault us. This was only because of the people in the group wanted a dish altered.

Extremely devastated as i was racially profiled, poorly treated and abused at this by the owner of this food joint only on the the basis of a dish we did not like.

Terrible customer service. The owner was a very angry man. He refused to hear the customers perspective. He racially abused us and in quotation told us to leave the Restraunt or he “I will box you guys outside” we were a group of 5 girls and 2 boys, all students. He abused our home country as well. Would not recommend going back there.

A very busy restaurant and always a queue waiting to get in. Despite this, the wait didn’t take long. The food was delicious, the Momos are just wonderful. Service was quick and friendly. We will definitely go back next time in London.

Good food but very unfair to charge customers 12.5% service when you have to q and order at the counter for your food and request water numerous times while again in a q at the counter. Not very fair to do this.....

Fantastic. The spicy sauce is wonderful. The momos are well flavoured. Tried both the steamed and fried version, personally prefer the steamed. Quick service.

Every country will have some sort of dumpling in their cuisine. The Nepalese have dumplings called momo usuall filled with chicken which looks similar to Shanghai Xiao Long Baos. I have had my fair share of Nepalese dumplings which revolve around steamed or pan fried dumplings served with hot sauce. At House of Momo they serve a good variety of dumplings and there was one particular one that comes in curry sauce. First you choose the dumpling, then how it is cooked and then if you want it with curry sauce. I went for the cheese and veg dumplings, steamed then fried served in curry sauce with some extra Thukpa noodles. On paying the guy with cash, I was given the wrong change. While I was waiting for my food, I could hear noodles and rice being cooked which sounded like the stir fries in the Chinese takeaways but with much more effort as it was louder. When the dumplings came, they did not disappoint. I tried the dumplings first and inside, it was filled with delicious melted gooey cheese tasting like cheddar. The curry sauce that it was in was light which really worked as it did not steal the show from the dumplings and it was not spicy. The thukpa noodles on the other hand were disappointing and the broth was nothing like urban yak. Went back again for the chilli noodles and requested it without the sauce as it would be too spicy. It was really nice of them to accommodate the request and served the sauce separate. Photos on blog

I had bad food poisoning after eating there last Friday, and am only starting to feel better now, four days later. This makes me really sad because this used to be one of my favourite places to eat out in Dalston. I felt symptoms shortly after eating there on Friday and was bed-ridden for the entire weekend. Had to cancel plans and was unable to meet some of my responsibilities. After reading other reviews on here I saw somebody else reported this kind of unfortunate experience after eating at House of Momo which is why I thought I should leave a review too so that more people can be made aware that there is likely a lack of hygiene problem at hand here. Truly a shame!

We had goat curry, fried rice, thali and selection of steamed mo mo's (chicken, beef and veg). Goat meat was tough and had slivers of small bones (chokeable hazard) in it - also very oily/ fatty. The meat mo mo's were dry, lacking in flavour and did not seem freshly made (suspect frozen). The veg mo mo's were doughy and tasteless. I was most unhappy however that despite the fact there is NO table service - you order and pay at the counter - yet they add a 'mandatory' 12.5% service charge to everyone's bill (table of 5) and refused to remove it saying "the management won't allow us to remove it". This is ILLEGAL. Any service charge can only discretionary and must be removable. When I queried that there is no table service so how can they charge for it, I was told "well we bring the food to you" What?! This is a small, basic cafe with communal bench seating charging 12.5% 'service' where you have to queue and order/ pay for your food in advance - where is the 'service' in that? If the management want to charge their customers extra they should either put up their prices and remove the so-called 'service charge' - or make it discretionary. I shall be taking this further.

Spicy and yummy. Curry is amazing with the paratha and the chilli momo. You cannot book a table and is quite packed with sharing tables.

My kid and I are dumpling fanatics ... any culture, any continent from Polish pierogies to Japanese shumai. Heard about this place near our home. I lived on Nepalese Momo's in northern India, so we went. Terrific place. We had one small order of boiled beef momos and one of fried momo with chicken filling. Really tasty and fresh. with a side of rice and Nepalese style dal it was a very filling and cheap lunch. And really tasty. Highly recommend.

The food is absolutely BRILLIANT - good portions, decently priced. Lots of veggie options. The atmosphere and service is the only thing I’d say is a bit hit or miss... its a very small place (you may not get a table or have to share one), v busy, I’ve been a few times and found that one of the main servers is quite snappy/stressed and so sometimes a little dismissive, and the other (strawberry blonde bearded guy) is friendly and attentive. The place is very dalston-trendy so maybe not the best for family dinners, more for going with your friends (no problem with that though)! I take all my friends here and we always have a nice time :)

Having eaten here before and enjoyed the dumplings I decided to order via Uber eats. Unfortunately after waiting almost 2 hours I hadn’t received my order and multiple drivers had repeatedly said that my order wasn’t ready upon their arrival. Very disappointing and had to cancel the order because no one at the restaurant picked up the phone despite calling multiple times! Will only visit in person from now on and hope that communication improves

Wow, I eat a lot of Vietnamese food in East London, but this was above and beyond. Kin the new manager (with whom we had a lovely friendly chat!) has thoughtfully redone the interior so it feels very cozy, and the garlic pho was the best I’ve EVER had. Great selection that’s more unique than your standard pho place. Bravo, this is my new go to spot for Vietnamese!
