I recently visited House of Flavour and was extremely disappointed by the service. Upon walking in, I noticed multiple tables with no “reserved” signs. When I politely inquired about seating, the manager greeted me very rudely and stated all tables were reserved. I explained there were no signs indicating this and no reserved signs on tables ,but was told I’d need to wait for 2 hours and could only get a table after 10:00 PM. When I asked to see the reservation list, the manager ignored me completely. Having worked in the hospitality industry globally for 15 years, I found this behavior shocking and unprofessional, especially on a Friday night when clear communication is crucial. This isn’t the first bad experience either. My friend has been turned away four times previously for not “reserving” a table. To make matters worse, it seems there’s a clear bias—Indian customers like myself are made to feel unwelcome, while white customers are prioritized under the assumption they will spend more money. Such discriminatory and dismissive behavior is unacceptable. I will never return and cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone to everyone

Ordered over £50 of food. The chicken biryani was not a biryani. It was a chicken curry sauce mixed in with rice. Terrible food. Never order from here again.

We came to enjoy a birthday celebration today and the atmosphere was very lovely. Tony and his team do an amazing job at making you feel welcomed and all of the food was delicious! Thankyou very much

Mis dos compañeros de trabajo y yo pedimos 3 curry’s 2 arroz y 2 nan panes, 1 pinta de kingfisher y una jarra de agua. 1 corona de pollo vino 15 minutos después de las otras cosas. Cuando tuve la cuenta, no sacaron dinero por su error y arruinar parte de nuestra noche, pero intentaron cobrarme por dos pintas de cobra que nunca tuvimos. Cuando cuestioné esto con el gerente, él quitó las cobras y dijo que tenías que pagar el resto en su totalidad y se fue. Pregunté por qué era esto y el camarero dijo que se meterían en problemas si no pagaba la cuenta en su totalidad. Así que no pagué la totalidad para que eso sucediera. Si esto hubiera ocurrido en casi cualquier otro restaurante indio, habrían retirado la korma de la factura.

27 of us visited yesterday afternoon for a work Xmas meal. We had an amazing time. Food was delicious 😋 and so much choice. Great service, thank you!

Great food, great service. Only grumble is the poppadoms the portion is small and very expensive, £2 per poppadom is too much.

The food was really exclusive. Amazing variety of flavours. I highly recommend the large sharing plate - this arrived really quickly and the chicken for exceptionally good. Service admittedly was a little slow after the initial starter was brought out, however, the live music was suitable entertainment.

We have eaten at the House of Flavours restaurant on several occasions and the food has been reasonably good. But this was our first time ordering home delivery and it was a poor experience. 1) They missed some of the items ordered which was upsetting especially for the children b) the “spicy” curries were bland (and we are familiar with these curries as we usually order them at the restaurant) and c) naans all soggy!

Tasty food with an authentic taste which came to the table in good time. There was a live musician playing the guitar and singing, which was pleasant. The service was attentive.

Absolutely Furious, the food was absolutely disgusting the masala tasted of what I can only describe as tomato soup!! Vile! The sag aloo was A pot of oily mush with two potatoes in it The rice tasted just of oily Grease. It had the same flavour on the poppadoms as well. There was not one thing that was nice and they sent me the wrong drink and the poppadoms you pay £2 for 2 half’s of a poppadom outrageous Honestly, the worst Indian I’ve ever had

Personally I would not recommend the buffet experience as it really isn’t much of an experience. If you think you’re going there for a strong variety of all you can eat curry, you’re wrong. Aside from the buffet, your typically from the menu orders are normally great. Decent amount of meat in your curry’s, served hot whether dining in or ordered for delivery and the curry almost always tastes great. Definitely my number one choice for curry in reading so far.

We were in Reading for some work and decided to try out some Indian places for dinner. House of Flavours popped up in our search as a top rated Indian cuisine place and I can say they didn’t disappoint at all! We tried the Aloo Tikki, Chicken Malai Tikka, Bhuna Gosht curry and Gulab Jamun and they all tasted as authentic as it can get. Very well organised and great food!

Too long wait especially if you are with children

Had a bad experience with quality of food. Visited the place based on high ratings but the quality and taste were below expectaions . The Lamb Biryani was dry , not fresh and not tender. The Chicken Tika Masala tasted like a Ketchup ! The tomato sauce/paste was alot. 1st and last time visiting this place

Hello, Team. We (two adults and two children) visited HOF on November 8th and were unhappy with the service and food quality this time. It was my fourth or fifth visit, and I thought that the quality was declining for the following reasons: 1. In terms of service, we waited more than an hour for the main course to arrive at our table after ordering it alongside the starters. 2. Salt and spicy levels are very low with the Chicken biryani and did not expect that taste in HOF.

Best Indian buffets in town, and I was thoroughly impressed. The variety of dishes offered was incredible, with each one packed with authentic flavors that truly showcased Indian cuisine. From savory curries to fresh naan, everything was delicious. What stood out to me was the quality of the food, especially considering the affordable price. The atmosphere was welcoming, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions.

I will give 4 star only, because of on buffet they will put limited options. Food taste is ok and near by reading it is one of the option to choose for Indian food

Wonderful experience at House of flavors!!! HOF is our go to place, we have an emotional connect to the food, ambience, staff who is just like our family! You will get Indian food at many places in England, but for authentic, North Indian food with loads of personalised experience, quality and love from India!!! Don't miss the LIIT from Tony!!

Good food good service but the food was too late

Fast friendly service, food was full of flavour/spices. I really liked the mango coconut naan. (Don't come here if you want sweet/overly rich/brightly colored curries.)

Customer service was very good , manager and staff member Jyoti are really polite and greeted well.

Got Deliveroo and it was exceptional

I read lot of reviews about this restaurant and went yesterday for a lunch. Mistake we did was to be in first at 1pm as complete restaurant was free. The first order took 25 mins approximately to serve us, the second order also took similar time. I ordered for biryani and it tasted like hell. It was just a grave mixed meat without any traces of Biryani. Home made biryani are much better than spending 15 pounds on that small portion. My wife who had vegetarian started having stomach pain and I had multiple acide reflux and couldn't sleep the whole night. I never had this issues as I maintain good health, prefer home cooked food all the time. They were particular in asking for Tip while billing, nicely avoided asking questions about food. Probably we are unlucky to have such experience.

Esta fue una buena decisión, ya que nuestra comida era absolutamente delicioso. Como vegetariana había tantas opciones, pero me decidí por el Karahi Paneer y fue muy sabroso. Todos disfrutamos de nuestras comidas y de nuevo si estuviera en Reading vendría aquí.

I think this is the closest you can get to authentic Indian cuisine in Reading. The ala-cart menu is quite pricey. I would suggest going there on a Sunday when they do Buffets, so that you can get an idea of the food they serve. The buffet with an added drink came to around £15.

This is my second visit here. They have a speciality dish call Tac-a-tac which is exceptional

Dinner for 2. Excellent, flavourful authentic Indian food. We travelled from Oxford for our evening and House of flavours didn't disappoint. Lamb chops, King prawns and Chicken lollipop for starters were all amazing. House special Chicken malai gravy for main was delicious. Warm, friendly and accomodative service especially by Jagveer and also other staff. Highly recommend and we'll be back soon (despite a bit of travel!).

Excellent authentic well prepared, delicious Indian food and very friendly staff. We loved it. Had a dinner with 3 of us on a Thursday. Walk-in (Reading town centre) but probs advised to book at weekends. Not dog friendly, sadly so Mikey had to stay at the Airbnb.

Starter good, chicken tikka cooked over charcoal, was not, extremely dry, was prepared not fresh. When I have cooked over charcoal it's moist. Lamb biryani dry no sauce whatsoever, it was not a biryani as described. Did not complain as everyone else seemed to accept the food. Don't be fooled it's nothing special.

I have to rate this restaurant 0/5 for their slow service. I had to wait for 1 hour before getting my food and even after that they did not bring all the items. The staff needed to be reminded several times to bring the food. Worst service

Did not arrive but kept moving the arrival time back. Ordered at 20:09 and was due to arrive within an hour but every time we check the delivery time it is 20 minutes in the future. Still not here at 23:54 and restaurant is now closed

First time we here and Blyton recommended the dishes for us and they are so delicious. Will come again!

Really bad. Ordered a Butter Chicken, pilau rice and a keema naan via Deliveroo. Delivery was one thing, but the food itself was terrible. Butter chicken wasn't creamy, but stodgy and overally spicy for a mild/low heat curry. The rice was mostly mush except for the odd grain which the colour gave away it's undercooked state. Both over done and under done at once! The Keema was fine but considering it accompanied the rest of the meal, it's was entirely a write off. I don't not recommend.

We were not told when we booked that it is a buffet on Saturdays.Disappointing! Also my grandson had chicken that was uncooked inside.Not good!! No prawn or beef dishes!!!

Went for a family lunch but there was no indication it was a buffet lunch when I booked, or maybe I missed it... Buffet was nice and every dish was really tasty but... they were not keeping up with demand. Several dishes were empty and it took a long time to refill. Same happened when I went for dessert so I ended up just having ice cream. So the food was good, the service slow which led to a feeling of half organised chaos. Next time I will revert to the evening al a carter menu....

Absolutely shambolic service, failed to prepare a deliveroo order over an hour later on a Monday evening, the one who answered the phone had poor attitude too. DO NOT WASTE TIME AND MONEY HERE! Unless you want the most frustrating hangry experience.

Overpriced buffet, all gravy dishesb tasted same. Desserts are tooo sweet and no will help you to scoop ice cream which hard like stone. Won't go again.

Absolutely faultless!!’ The food is absolutely delicious, the service is outstanding and I love the atmosphere 🙏🏼 We love the Butter Chicken … it’s an all time favourite and my husband loves the Lamb Shank both with Garlic Naan. The live music is sooo good and I am looking forward to the afternoon buffet one weekend ❤️

Love house of flavours, been there lots and I have taken other people who now go there regularly. It's just better than so many other poor indian restaurants / food at HoF.

Food is no doubt authentic with Indian real taste and flavours. At first instance door is too tight , no one came to help a person trying to open the door and pushing pram/stroller too. There was shortage of staff so after entering the restaurant, I was searching someone to come up with table reservations. No one turned up after 5 minutes and then I reached one of the staff who was serving someone and interrupted her which was too weird to do for me. But it seems so awkward that I have done the booking 10 days ago for 30 people. On the day of event they provided us table near the kitchen and that too opposite places. They charged us extra 50£ for service tax on top of food bill which will be good enough to accept if they would have served us nicely. One of the staff said we are only two people serving today and shortage of staff so we couldn't help you. Inside the AC was not working and in an event it became so suffocated and hot. That was not expected. I liked the food and thought of organising event but it seems staff and team doesn't understand the fact that we paid for service tax on top of food for understaff. And it's true that cutlery take ages too come as I have read in the reviews. Being host of party I need to chase staff members again and again for water, cutlery ,orders Nd other stuff. That too they ignores sometimes. So bit of disappointed

Great food, great service. Go to place for Indian food in Reading. Was served by Jaiveer, great hospitality.

I had Veg starters, Mango Lassi, Naan and Malai Kofta curry. Onion Bhajji was over crispy and Kofta was pathetic. It’s NOT a restaurant for Indians who frequently have these dishes and know how exactly they should be.

Blyton was so lovely and a great server. The food is great, a really good choice and it is such good quality. I like coming here because it is a great experience.

The whole experience was very positive. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, the food was excellent and the ambience was lively without being intrusive.
