I had a wonderful experience at House of Flavours! A special shoutout to Tony, the manager, for his excellent customer service — professional, friendly, and attentive to every detail. He truly went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. Akanksha was also fantastic — polite, efficient, and made us feel very welcome. It’s clear that the entire team works together seamlessly, and every staff member we interacted with was kind and helpful. Great food, great atmosphere, and an even better team. Highly recommended!

I had the pleasure of enjoying the Sunday buffet at House of Flavors, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish! The food was delicious, with a great variety of flavorful dishes — from rich curries and perfectly cooked biryani to an excellent dessert selection. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. But what truly made the visit memorable was the exceptional service. The staff were attentive, kind, and very professional. One server in particular stood out — a lovely young woman with a ponytail and glasses. She was so polite and warm, checking in with a genuine smile and making sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Her kindness added such a personal touch to the meal and really made us feel welcome. If you're looking for a place that offers both great food and even better service, I highly recommend the Sunday buffet at House of Flavors. I'll definitely be coming back!

Went here with a group of 14, had excellent service and a decent atmosphere. Wasn't blown away by the food though, the chicken was quite dry and flavours nothing out of the ordinary and some others in our group agreed. Was expecting better but the staff were very helpful when accommodating our vegan friend with the menu even though there wasn't anything she wanted. Overall a decent experience but it's nothing special

Bullshit very bad service and so rude

Visited with family on Friday busy evening. It was a disappointing start as the table provided was back of the restaurant even with reservation. We provided feedback. The manager stepped in and within mins got us a table in the front of the restaurant. The food was fantastic, service exceptionally fast on busy Friday evening. Manager visited several times to check in on us. Great customer service with human touch. Thank you Mr Jagveer 'Manager' and the staff for making this a lovely experience. Highly recommended for food, hospitality, and good time!

Its good for buffet my personal recommendation is goat curry

Visited this place recently and was genuinely impressed! The ambiance is clean and welcoming, but what stood out most was the excellent service—quick, courteous, and attentive. Now, let’s talk food. I ordered the Dal makhaniDouble Tadka, and it was an absolute delight. Smoky aromas, a perfect ghee-laced tempering, and just the right amount of spice. It’s simple, homely, and packed with flavor.

Food was okay but the waitress forgot my order and had me waiting while they served other tables. Guess it’s the table size and not the quantity of order that seems to matter. When asked, the waitress was so indifferent to the whole thing. Unfortunately, the order they forgot happens to be my favourite dish. In the end, when it did arrive, it wasn’t as good as I expected. Not sure if I’ll be dining with them again.

A good place that maintains Authentic spices and flavors. Nice decor and loved the table design with blend of most spices used in Indian cuisine. Food was flavorsome but too much spices, a little less would balance well.

Amazing food and great atmosphere. By far the most authentic Indian food I have tried in Reading. The servers are good too, very friendly and easy to talk with. Some stuff is a bit too pricey, but taste wise it is not disappointing. I tried Paneer Tikka as a starter here, was shocked by the 3 piece version of this dish. A lot of vegetarian options are available here, and they taste amazing too! I tried Paneer Makhani and Dal Makhani, both were fab! And the Naan! In India, you get these everywhere, but in the UK, I was disappointed wherever I went because the Naan they gave was never ever fresh; but these guys know the real deal.

Llevamos a nuestro hijo de 6 años para su primera comida india y con la ayuda de nuestro miembro del personal profesional, Jagvir (espero que haya escrito eso correctamente) nos dirigió a una comida increíble. Quantity is very less for the price

We had an office lunch planned at the house of flavours and everyone was amazed with the taste of the food. We really enjoyed their curries and naan, with some fancy veg and chicken starters. I do recommend this for a great Indian cuisine.

Update after visiting again in March 2025: the waitress was highly attentive and walked through all their vegan options. Would give 5* if they updated their menu.

I celebrated my birthday along with 20 people and it was a comfortable experience with delicious food. The spread is quite wide and it made us feel as if we are in a restaurant in India only. The manager Mr. Anthony (Tony) booked this party for me and was always available with a smiling face. The staff is courteous and helpful. Ms. Ritu Sharma made sure that my guests were well taken care of. Thanks for making this happen .

One of the very good Indian food I have tried - The shish kebab, the pilau rice and the chicken lababdar were all bursting with flavours and were too good! Rest of my colleagues loved what they ordered. I loved the spiciness, though it said mild.

The food quality is going down with time. This used to be my favourite restaurant in Reading until 2023 for that proper north Indian taste and since then the quality had been degrading, I visited there couple of times in 2024 and then started exploring other restaurants. Today I thought let’s try here if it has gotten better but the quality of food is even worse now.

A great bright open setting, and a spice themed decor. The menu was different from other Indian restaurants, and surprisingly long; there was plenty of choice, we took advice from the waiter, and we enjoyed our meal that was colourful, healthy and full of flavour.

The chicken biryani and paneer tikka achari was poor today compared to regular taste. The paneer tikka was burnt and chicken biryani didn’t have the biryani flavour. We were told that the head chef is working in the kitchen today. Please look into this as the food was disappointing today.

I recently visited House of Flavours, and it was a fantastic experience. This restaurant is excellent for North Indian food, offering a delicious and visually appealing meal. Our server, Jaybir, was very attentive and helpful, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. We started with papadoms and garlic naan, which were both very tasty. The papadoms were served with a variety of dips, including a delicious mango chutney. The garlic naan was soft and perfectly flavored, complementing our main courses beautifully. For our main dishes, we had soya chaap masala and paneer tikka masala. Both dishes were cooked perfectly, with rich flavors that really showcased the chef's skill. The soya chaap masala was especially good, with tender soya chaap in a creamy sauce. The paneer tikka masala was also delicious, with soft and well-marinated paneer. Overall, House of Flavours offers a great dining experience with good food, a nice atmosphere, and attentive service. It definitely deserves a full 5-star rating for its exceptional cuisine and welcoming environment.

Well..... Dishoom has been knocked off the top spot!..... I came all the way from Watford based on friends recommendations, and boy did it not disappoint. A large restaurant with a great atmosphere (and cool tables) with friendly and attentive service. Authentic flavoursome food using top notch, non GMO ingredients........ What more could I ask for? The meat was all cooked to perfection juicy and tender and true to the name the deep mix of flavours was absolutely sublime. I will definitely be visiting again, even it it is an hour away...... would highly recommend.

Disappointing Experience - Terrible Kofta Curry, Chili chicken and Slow Service ⭐ I was really excited to try House of Flavours, but unfortunately, my experience was far from enjoyable. I ordered the Kofta Curry, and it was truly disappointing. The koftas were overcooked and lacked flavor, and the curry itself was watery and bland. It didn’t taste fresh at all, which was a real letdown. To make matters worse, the service was incredibly slow. It took far too long for our food to arrive, and even longer for the server to check in with us. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unorganized, which only added to the frustration. Overall, this was a very disappointing dining experience. I won’t be returning and wouldn't recommend it to others.

We ordered 3 dishes but the service was very slow. After 40 Minutes we got our first meal. Moreover the service was very slow and not worth the price.

Excellent food. Servers were very friendly. All meat is halal. Vegetarian food was not very tasty (makhni daal was better). Non veg curries were great.

This is what happens when you rest on your laurels. I placed a takeaway order that was supposed to be ready in 35 minutes, but when I arrived, it wasn’t prepared. I was told to wait another five minutes—though that stretched much longer. When I questioned the delay, I was met with hostility and rudeness instead of an apology. Absolutely not acceptable!!

Great place to have a birthday buffet. Recommend it for large groups. Food is great and the staff takes care of you really well. Special thanks to the manager, Tony.

Loved the place and the taste, kudos to Sachin and the team. I recommend this place for all Indians in Reading and surrounding who crave for authentic Indian taste. Edit: had given 5-⭐️ rating a couple of years ago, and today I’m changing it to 1-⭐️. The service has degraded, the staff now is rude and doesn’t care about the customers it seems. I recently dined at this restaurant again and was thoroughly disappointed. From the moment we arrived, the experience went downhill. There was literally nobody at the entrance to welcome us or manage the tables, so we found ourselves aimlessly wandering around, trying to catch the attention of the staff. When we did manage to find someone, they were incredibly rude and seemed completely disinterested in helping us. It felt like the staff just didn't care about the customers at all. There’s lack of basic hospitality and the careless attitude of the staff made our dining experience one of the worst we’ve ever had. I definitely won't be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant and welcoming dining experience.

Our previous valentines booking fell through and was struggling to find a place to eat. We were offered a table with no struggle which was great. The service was fantastic from Jagvir and treated us so well. The food and drinks was delicious and we enjoyed every part of the night. Thank you!

We ordered a takeaway, my wife dish was Chicken Pistachio, it was couple of huge lumps of chicken on the bone, and it had absolutely no taste, I had chicken Lababdar that wasn't very nice, the onion Bhaji, was very overdone with burnt bits, never again.

It was lunch time so not many tables were occupied. It was our anniversary and valentines day so, rose on the table would have been brilliant . Starters were good. Biryanis were average..overall okay..

Bustling with people and BUSTING with flavours. Although my curry was packed full of cardamom pods and seeds or whatever it is (I don’t know tbh) and if you crunch on them your mouth explodes with aniseed/mace flavour. Maybe you’re not supposed to eat them? Or Is that what they mean by house of flavours? But anyway the curries are all great, delicious naan, lamb chop curry is particularly recommended We went on a very busy Friday night and sat next to an ostensible hen party who were all screaming in unison at their samosas and spilling drinks. Not my vibe tbh The tables are also full of mummified spices. Nice touch.

The so-called "chicken biryani" at this restaurant was a major disappointment for anyone familiar with authentic Indian cuisine. What was served bore little resemblance to true biryani, lacking the essential layering, aromatics, and proper spice balance that defines this classic dish. The rice and chicken seemed hastily mixed rather than properly prepared using the traditional dum cooking method, and the accompanying raita was equally inauthentic. Even the waiter, when asked, candidly agreed that this dish doesn't compare to traditional Hyderabadi biryani. While it might pass as a basic spiced rice dish, calling it 'biryani' is misleading and does a disservice to one of India's most beloved culinary treasures. Not only did we waste our money, but the dish was a complete misrepresentation of authentic biryani.

Excellent food and service, Manager Mr. TONY is very supportive and cooperative. We had cooperate party for 15 People which was really well managed.

Review: Absolute Worst Hospitality - Zero Stars My experience at this restaurant has been abysmal on multiple occasions. Here are the key reasons why: Horrible Service During Weekday Dinner: • After being seated, no one came to take our order even after 45 minutes, despite repeatedly calling for service. • The staff blatantly ignored us, rejecting our attempts to get their attention with shocking arrogance. • When someone finally came to take the order, we were told it would take another hour for the food to arrive. Needless to say, we left. • The staff’s attitude was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional throughout. Weekend Lunch Buffet Disaster: • I called at 12 PM to enquire about their lunch buffet for that day. They informed me it was open from 12 to 3:30 PM but said nothing about reservations. • Arriving at 12:30 PM, we found reservation boards on many tables. The manager rudely informed us that a reservation was required. • When we pointed out that this wasn’t mentioned over the phone, he unapologetically blamed us, saying we should have asked explicitly. • The manager’s behaviour, like the rest of the staff, was incredibly rude and dismissive, making us feel unwelcome and poorly treated. Overall, the entire service staff appears untrained, rude, and completely lacking in basic hospitality skills. If you enjoy being ignored, disrespected, and mistreated, this is the place for you. For everyone else, avoid at all costs.

I used to be a loyal customer of this restaurant because of their authentic Indian flavours and quality food, but sadly, it seems those days are long gone. My recent experience was nothing short of disappointing. Today, I ordered the chicken dum biryani, expecting the same delicious, fragrant dish they once served. Instead, what I received was a poorly executed meal that bore no resemblance to proper biryani. They simply mixed old pilau rice with some masala, added what seemed like stale chicken, and drowned it in oil and chilli powder. It was completely overpowered by spice, which is not what authentic Indian flavours are about. Indian cuisine is known for its balanced, complex spices—not just overwhelming heat. Sadly, this restaurant seems to have lost its touch and is now cutting corners with quality. If this is the new standard, I won't be returning anytime soon. A once-great spot now serves the worst attempt at Indian food I've ever had. What a shame!
