A hidden gem, only a small diversion off the riverside path. Had a bacon butty in a ciabatta, so fresh and tasty.

Had a lovely full English breakfast

Really cozy coffee shop with great vibes. The owner was really lovely and offered her phone’s hotspot to me for WiFi. Had a tea and salmon bagel and really enjoyed it.

Was charged 5.60 for a latte and this is what I was served better alternatives near by for a cheaper price

Very pleasant and good value, but be warned, there are no toilets on the premises (or any close by)!

Well worth diverting off the main drag for a charming little cafe on the way down to the river. Very good BLT at 5.50, but I do object to a final bill of 9.30 when only adding a cup of white Americano. How about if spending over a fiver on food get coffee for 2.50?

This amazing café serves the most delicious food and drinks (my favourite is the Oreo milkshake!) and is located just 2 minutes away from the river. Everyone who works there are so friendly, warm and inviting. I could not recommend Hallow Mallow enough and I very much look forward to visiting again soon!

Such a lovely cafe with excellent service as always! I had the most delicious smoke salmon bagel today. You really could sit in here all day and chat with the regulars. Dog friendly and really close walking distance to the river. Would highly recommend!

I have been to Hallow Mallow a few times now, and every time i’ve been I've been greeted with loveliness and warmth. The food I’ve had has always been really high standard and very tasty, and the drinks not only look amazing, but taste fantastic! (I recommend the milkshakes)!! Overall really friendly and i recommend highly.

Just seen a review on here about this place No the toilets are not available at the moment due to its location in the cellar which the owner has reviewed and judging that it would be a health and safety hazard for her customer As for the quality of the establishment the quality of service and quality of food and coffee and a warm welcome you won’t find better in york don’t listen to bitter comments come and see for yourself

Been past a few times. Eventually went in today with dog. Very friendly. Lovely coffee. Accidentally had two slices of billionaire shortbread. Brilliant.

A great friendly little dog friendly cafe with loads of tasty treats. Had a really nice cake and a good sized hot and tasty cappuccino. So many cafes serve their coffee on the wrong side of tepid, but not here.

Disappointingly they leave their sign out on the river walk saying open when actually closed, and also have incorrect opening times on Google. A wasted detour for my elderly relative.

Very nice food and pleasant indoors and out. We had a panini and salad. Not far from the river, nice quiet street. There isn’t a loo so please note that if you need to spend a Penny!

We were staying for 5 nights in an Air B&B down the road from the cafe, and decided to pay the cafe a visit for breakfast on the first morning. Well, I am so pleased we did. Kelley, the owner made us welcome from the start, and we were there at 9 o’clock every morning afterwards. As well as the excellent breakfasts, all done to our fussy tastes, there were also sausages prepared for our pooch. There is a fantastic atmosphere here too, as we got to also met and know some of the locals. Everyone was genuinely interested in our adventures, and gave us advice and recommendations which were all spot on. It really made our holiday.

Stopped off here on our last day of our visit to York for a quick drink before heading home. This seems to be a family run small business and everyone was very warm and welcoming. My coffee was lovely. If we'd had more time I would've definitely grabbed a bite to eat as what was on display looked great. I'd highly recommend dropping in if you're passing by. It's a nice little detour if you're walking along the river or along Fulford road. We had to dash off and I ended up leaving my partners bag full of new makeup under our table. After contacting the business they agreed to send the bag home to us and even refused to allow me to cover the cost. Very honest and lovely people. I can think of many places where had the same thing happened, I never would have seen those items again.

Love this place! The food is lovely as is the coffee! Really dog friendly and my dog Megan loves it too! The owner is really nice and engaging too! Can’t wait to get back for the BLT sandwich!

This is a delightful coffee shop, situated on a quiet street corner of York, just a short walk from the river. The menu has an excellent range of available food, and the coffee is always nice and hot. The cafe is run by a lovely woman, and it is a hub for many locals in the community. You can be guaranteed a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.

Much lushness .A fabulous bacon sandwich, with a great cup of tea... at a midway stop on our Fulford Ings circular walk.Friend had a delicious, large, buttered fruit teacake. Lovely staff. Note there is no loo - which may be a decider for some ...its a shame , as there used to be one here.

This cafe is consistently good. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Coffees and teas are lovely too and it is all enhanced by the warm, friendly service.

Was such a pleasure to call after so long and to be remembered. We introduced our new grandson and felt welcome and at ease. The coffee's and food did not disappoint, as good as we remembered. Looking forward to more in the coming future.

Perfect coffee stop where you can sit and watch the world go by in a friendly neighbourhood. We only had a coffee but the owner could not have been more helpful, moving table and chairs into the sun and giving us a warm welcome. It’s what a community cafe should be, we will come again especially when the sun shines!!

Great little spot near to the river ouse. It's a great local cafe and they do an excellent panini! Brie and bacon is my favourite.

So glad I stumbled upon this little gem!! Fantastic little cafe with lovely decor. The service was excellent, dogs are welcome and it has a warm and fun atmosphere. The owner was so friendly and her little sausage dog is a real cutie! Good selection of food, drink and cake with delicious local roasted coffee. I will definitely be returning!!

What some were when every time you go the quality is always consistent look no more this spotless clean cafe off fullford rd with its warm welcome serving hot/ cold drinks sandwiches cakes vegan and gluten-free every time I go my toasted ciabatta bacon sandwich with tomato ketchup and my 3 shot Coffee always the best way to start the day

I'm a regular here, it's very close to one of my favourite cycle routes down the river Ouse. I like the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, although I go alone I always find people to talk to. Dogs are welcomed so it's popular with walkers. I always go for a BLT and a super hot chocolate, always a tempting array of cakes if I have room. Looking forward to my next visit.

When lockdown 1 kicked off, Hallo Mallow was the one and only place where I bought gift vouchers for future use. Hallo Mallow is an absolute staple of the local community, and ever since we moved in a couple of streets down it became an absolute bedrock of me and my 6yo's week.Keeley is fantastic - outstanding food, decent prices, all of it fully cared about and considered. Hallo Mallow is fully her cafe, and everything about it goes the extra mile - from the welcome, to the food, to the decor (and seasonal additions) - the works. That it's constantly filled with locals - young and old - and people passing by tells you all you need to know, really. Absolutely rock solid little place, completely loved, and this shows. Both my 6yo and my dogs regularly drag me there if we're walking past on the river; again, a sign of Keeley's reach and impact!

Conveniently located close to the river , Hallo Mallow was recommended to us by a couple we passed while walking the banks of the Ouse.We were greeted by a very pleasant member of staff and she continued to be very helpful and chatty for the duration of our visit.I chose the Bacon, Brie and Cranberry Panini and my Wife opted for the Vegan Bagel with sundried tomato, roast red peppers, olive, gherkins and hummus.The service time was impeccable, to prepare food which looked as good as it did in so little time was simply amazing, not what we expected at all!! The food tasted as good as it looked, and you could tell by the taste alone that the best ingredients had been used in the preparation of our lunch.Excellent service and competitively priced menu.Hallo Mallow comes highly recommended, a stones throw from the river, this is a must if you are in the vicinity.....we will definitely return after lockdown!!!

Vine a almorzar y, lamentablemente, ya había realizado mi pedido cuando la propietaria comenzó a hablar con orgullo sobre cómo ha estado convirtiendo en su proyecto personal ir a las tiendas y cafés locales para averiguar cuáles no imponen el uso de la máscara (porque ella no quería usar uno). Entonces me di cuenta de que ninguno de los miembros del personal tenía máscaras ni estaba haciendo nada para hacer cumplir ningún tipo de medidas de seguridad. Nunca nos dieron ninguna información sobre los servicios de seguimiento y localización. Todo esto hubiera sido suficiente para que yo decidiera no volver nunca, pero luego la conversación dio un giro para peor.Es cierto que la persona más dominante en la conversación fue un cliente. Hablaron largo y tendido sobre cómo el mes de la historia negra no era necesario y cómo "ya no se puede decir ni pizarra", punto con el que coincidió el dueño. Un hermoso café de esquina con un ambiente familiar. Felizmente podría sentarme en su casa durante horas o en una mesa al aire libre viendo pasar la vida. El café es hermoso y también el servicio, también tomamos un delicioso batido, en esta ocasión los llevamos a beber mientras caminábamos por el río a solo un par de minutos de distancia. ¡Disfrutar!

Este café está dirigido por un emprendedor talentoso. La comida está hermosamente presentada con amor. Los bollos de arándanos recién hechos son imprescindibles con la mantequilla y mermelada adecuadas. Los sándwiches están hechos con ingredientes franceses, ¡en particular el bagel de salmón ahumado! Aparte de las delicias culinarias, hay una atmósfera de verdadera comunidad y cuidado.¡Definitivamente mi lugar al que ir en York!

Pedí hablar con el gerente y ella dijo "Soy el DUEÑO" de una manera extremadamente degradante y me dijo que me fuera si no quería mi café y se negó a devolverme el dinero a pesar de que pagué en efectivo. Uno de los empleados trató de defenderme, pero el dueño la reprendió. Tuve una experiencia horrible y nunca volveré aquí. ¡Por favor, no le des tu dinero a una mujer tan vil! ! !

Nice staff and tasty sausage rolls!

Estaba caminando por nuestro perro salchicha a lo largo del río saliendo de York y me estaba acercando a la mitad del camino cuando vi un tablero que anunciaba una cafetería "a 200 yardas de distancia", y aún mejor, confirmó que es amigable con los perros, así que deambulé.Muy contento de haberlo hecho. Soy un poco quisquilloso con el café, y mi americano negro estaba delicioso (¡acabo de darme cuenta de que este era mi último café de 2019!). No tenía nada para comer, pero por lo que noté de otros huéspedes comiendo, la comida se ve deliciosa y probaré algunos en mi próxima visita.Increíblemente, un ambiente agradable y un lugar encantador para interrumpir un paseo. ¡Gracias!

Llegué por un día a York y me pregunté dónde almorzar con nuestro perro. Conocí a un paseador de perros que recomendó este lugar y estamos muy contentos de que lo haya hecho. La comida era deliciosa. Se hicieron sándwiches simples para nuestros dos hijos y disfrutamos de bagels veganos y de salmón seguidos de deliciosos pasteles. El servicio fue excelente.

Followed the sign from the riverbank walk and so glad we did. Lovely atmosphere and delicious coffee. Made to feel very welcome and will definitely be back. Dog was made welcome too which is a big plus for us.

Charming neighborhood café. Friendly service. Excellent place to enjoy breakfast when the morning sun enters through the large window. The full English breakfast is good and nicely served.

What a fantastic place! The lady was very welcoming, and most accommodating. She made an off menu item for my partner, and the most fantastic bacon sandwich for me. The dog-friendly aspect is great, and it was lovely seeing Betty there! We will return!

Saw a sign on the riverside path indicating that this was open (Boxing Day), so took a short detour for coffee. This is a small, cosy, independent neighbourhood cafe/coffee shop. Friendly service, good coffee, also dog friendly. Well worth a visit.

Just had the best chicken and bacon sandwich on fresh, thick cut bread. It was the best sandwich I've had in years. My family had a delicious soup. The service was simply the best. Can't wait to return for breakfast in the morning

It’s signs, trappings and decor look the part. We sat outside on the street side table which was pleasant. Trouble was the coffee was absolutely rank average.

A lovely little cafe, perfect for a quick bite and coffee. My cheese and pickle sandwich tasted very good and homely. The latte was really good too! (I'm usually disappointed with lattes in most places and opt for it just to get a quick dose of coffee, not too strong and easy to drink. So it's definitely something that I was impressed by the lattes' taste here!) Friendly and helpful host with a cute little dachshund in the adjoining room. Since it was near closing time and I was the only customer in the cafe at the time, a man the dog was familiar with (regular customer/owner's dad maybe?) let the dog out for a breather (happy me to see it! Would've suggested letting it out in a moment anyway as I love dogs, wouldn't mind it around and it was whimpering from inside hearing familiar voices). Lots of candies and stuff colouring the shelves. Considerable choice of coffees, teas and soft drinks. Cozy, relaxing feel in there. A good local cafe.

Qué pequeña joya es este lugar. Fuera de los caminos trillados, pero se encuentra fácilmente junto a la A 19 en Fulford, y cerca del río Ouse, este es un gran lugar para pedir un refrigerio, un sándwich, una sopa o una ensalada. Found this little cafe by chance as it was tucked away. Had an excellent flat white and delicious granola cake, really Cosy and welcoming space.

We arranged a friend and family get together for a couple of dozen after my Mum's funeral. The cafe put on a great spread and the friendly atmosphere cheered everyone up. Would recommend to anyone.

Yesterday after seeing advertising about "luxury ice-cream" on the riverside we walked around 8 mins to get the place with the ice-cream. The cafe is nice inside. The stuff expressed her unhappiness that we interrupted her chat and drinking coffee with some people sitting outside. Unwillingly she came to us to serve the ice-cream. I've ordered a scoop of strawberry ice cream which turned out have some taste of old ice-cream but maybe I'm wrong and it was just the taste of luxuriance:)
