Very good staff and atmosphere 👏

We had my mum’s wake at the ship yesterday, The food was top notch and the staff were excellent. A perfect way to end the day 👍😁

Visited 1st March for a meal as new to the area. My wife had the advertised beef stew and dumplings which turned out to be chicken! Asked why and was told there was no beef stew. Complained that why she was not advised of this upon ordering otherwise she would have had something else. Thankfully it was wiped from the bill. We had the fish and chips two nights before which were excellent so we thought we'd try something different, myself having the vindalo chicken which was very good. In the two visits we would've spent around £100 including our drinks. Will visit again but will be wary when ordering food!

We attended following a funeral (sadly) but the pub really did finish the day well. Staff were lovely & the food was fantastic. Thanks guys n gals.

Food good, had a vindaloo, friends had cottage pie, mushroom risotto and a ciabatta. No complaints from any of us. Big portions.

Food excellent,service not so good,booked a table,but was left waiting well over a hour for food,people who just walked in and people who ordered after us was served first,was left with finished courses on our table for over half an hour even tho staff asked if all ok then walked away,was left three quarters of an hour and no one came to take sweet order even though staff kept looking but would rather sit down and chat with freinds,what a let down,very very disappointed,the bar was often left unattended and staff was more interested with sitting with freinds and chatting.

Had a lovely night with some friends ad the food was gorgeous, I had the chicken supreme and it was amazing. Definitely will be back for the lovely food 😊 the service and the staff were excellent 👌

Nice relaxed venue . Great back ground music. Affordable and nice bar staff !! Friendly locals also ! We frequently drop in on a Monday!!

11 of us went for a meal and we received a really friendly welcome. We were well looked after and the food was great.

Excellent Fish and Chips, excellent service reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

Taking forever to even get menus have been before and folds fab but been waiting for at least 15/20 mins just for a menu

We were staying in this area and searched for dog friendly pub, this was top of the list and now we have visited it’s no surprise. So the pub itself could do with some TLC, however the food and service was brilliant and our dog soon made himself at home under the table. Highly recommended.

Relaxed atmosphere, Nicely priced drinks Friendly bar staff. Friendly locals. Seem to find ourselves there most Sundays or Monday's Also a pub quiz every other Sunday.

The Ship Inn was lovely, the food was hot, tasty, plentiful and value for money. The host was really friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend it and will be visiting again.

Never been here before, so having walked the dog on the common tried it on Saturday lunch time , having a mucky fog was no problem , they love dogs here, so we stopped to eat. Menu was varied in range and portion size , and when mine arrived I was pleased with the size of the fish too! Spoke to the landlord who had only recently taken over and expressed how pleased we were. I wish them every luck, and like me if you pass the place and wonder , just stop one day, I'm sure you will find it enjoyable.

Called in after a great walk on Strensall Common. Really friendly welcome from the staff. Excellent pint of Landlord and wholesome pub food. Dog friendly and comfortable surroundings.

Great sunday lunch. If we went again - sunday dinner (pork) is solid, brownie nothing special, hot drinks nothing special. Just go for the Sunday dinner and head out.

Very welcoming pub, great park outside and a bouncy castle for the kids in the summer months which is a bonus. Food was spot on as always and nice pint. Always call in when where staying at flaxton or beechwood and will be back next time where over

Nice pint of Tequila Blonde, I think it was. One of those pubs that does a lot of food , so a bit of a foody smell when we were in , later in the evening.

Very impressed by both the staff and the food at the ship Inn. Larger than expected portions, and very helpful and friendly people. Would absolutely reccomend to any caravaning families staying at the multiple campsites nearby. A credit to the area.

Called here for lunch before travelling home to North wales. If you don't want a Sunday roast there's little else to choose from. We had to change our table because ours was sticky. No fish available so we had egg and chips - ho hum. Staff friendly enough, plenty of choice at the bar but generally very basic inside, nothing of real interest inside. Seating area outside was neat and tidy

Went for Sunday dinner, had beef and the biggest Yorkshire pudding ever!!! Veggies were well cooked. Couldn't fault it!

Great play park for kids, nice indoor and outdoor seating. Very friendly pub. Feed was good- best chips I've ever had, steak was skinny and overdone, best tomatoes I've ever had, great fish. Good peppercorn sauce, bit more stock or salt would-be made it great. Sticky toffee pudding was weid- nice sause but cake turned almost crunchy in the mouth? Not the soft mouthfeel you would expect. Would definitely go again!

First visit since the pandemic wasn’t let down gammon egg chips excellent.The best chips I have ever had, Nice plate full. My wife had fish & chips the fish as a good size. Very enjoyable. Definitely recommend.

Another excellent lunch at the Ship and the dogs were well catered for with lots of water bowls inside and out on an unseasonably hot day.

Avoid until they get the old chef back!!!! What an awful meal - really shocked as we have been going here for several years and have previously left glowing reviews. Ordered the Sunday roast and was given: - Yorkshire puddings - Burnt - asked if I could have another one - was brought an equally burnt one. Gave them both back to the waitress and said they are both burnt 'sorry' nothing else organised. -Roast potatoes - hard - Roast chicken - rubbery - vegetables - given 2 rectangle plates for 8 of us who ordered the roast (2 ordered the platters) when we asked for more the waitress was not impressed. In other news the McDonalds I had on the way home was lovely. Ship in - please bring back your old chef - or train the new one!!!
