Baileys Cafe and Tea Rooms in York

This was such a cute cafe! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made the place feel very homey. The food was fantastic and tasted freshly made. We also had a couple of their teas which were amazing. Loved spending time here!

Gorgeous little place for breakfast. Every member of staff is so lovely and the food is perfect.

Lovely tea room with friendly and attentive staff. Only had delicious hot chocolates and teacakes, but other diners' food (lunches) looked good.

It was an alright breakfast but I didn't like how the mushrooms or tomato was cooked .

We were recommend this place by my parents for breakfast we were staying at a hotel nearby we went on Sunday I had a all day breakfast my partner hada yorkshire pudding filled with roast beef and gravy and a extra portion of chips the food is outstanding service was fantastic we have been every day since being away the food and service gets better everytime keep up the good work highly recommend and will definitely be back when we visit York again

Very average breakfast with no atmosphere. Staff very pleasant though. Had the full English, in Yorkshire you would expect quality food but was disappointed.

Great little cafe, plenty of tables and seats. The staff were all lovely and friendly, very quick and efficient. Food and drinks came out quickly and we're hot and delicious. Loads of options for all time sof the day and specials available. Very reasonable prices and portions were spot on. We came twice as we enjoyed it so much the first time.

I was welcomed warmly when I arrived, which was a nice start. I went for the full English breakfast and had it with a mocha. The eggs were great, and everything tasted really good overall. The only downside was that they didn’t offer black pudding, which I was looking forward to. With the mocha, it cost me about £15, but the breakfast itself was around £11-£12. Considering other restaurants nearby, this was relatively cheap for the quality and portion size. Even though I missed the black pudding, it was still a solid breakfast, and I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something filling.

We came across Baileys and decided to have lunch. The food was great and service equally good. One thing of note is the generous portion sizes, particularly for the apple crumble with custard. Huge! It's so lovely to see this, as it's a rare but welcome value for money. The jacket potato with baked beans and cheese (with salad) was good, very tasty. A very nice place to go, with a nice atmosphere even. Would go back.

The loveliest breakfast experience during our trip to York. Immediately we were greeted by a smile, seated and food was at our table within 20 minutes despite the busy atmosphere in the room. Great value for money. Would definitely come again to try their cakes!

There’s always a warm welcome when you visit Bailey’s in York. It has been there for sometime and is always popular with tourists and locals alike. I popped in on Saturday Morden route to the railway station and was lucky enough to find a space. I had a really good cup of coffee but didn’t have time for an although the menu looked good and the dishes up on the blackboard were very tempting. There’s a good range of meals available including breakfast served all day and there’s also a gluten free menu. Toilets are near the tills so no steps to climb. Recommended!

An old fashioned British greasy spoon wrapped up unsuccessfully as a quaint tea room. The food is exactly of greasy spoon standard, I had a egg and bacon sandwich, absolutely fine, and a very nice cup of tea. Service was great. Prices a little high.

Baileys in York is good for breakfast, Tea and coffee. The food and drinks were nice and they have gluten free menu. It's a good morning stop.

Visited york on holiday for a few days , I originally discovered this nice traditional cafe whilst looking for somewhere for lunch. I ordered egg and cress sandwiches which came with a side salad and also ordered a glass of lemonade. The sandwiches where amazing and tasted really freshly made and the salad was lovely too. I came back for breakfast the next day and got scrambled eggs on toast and orange juice and again another thoroughly enjoyable meal. I've been back each day of my holiday, I'm actually here writing this and I've just had there traditional English breakfast and a pot of Yorkshire tea. I don't like tomatos so they kindly swapped it for me for another sausage. Really polite staff, great prices and amazing food. Highly recommend this place for your meals whilst visiting York.

Cafe and tea. I liked the flavor and roasting of the coffee. The scones were normal compared to other famous stores Balahi waffles are delicious and special ❤️❤️

Always try to eat here when we visit York. Can get very busy, but worth the wait. Good portion sizes (usually too much for me!)

Popped in on the 21st July as this was close to our hotel and not far from York Station. Friendly Yorkshire welcome and a pretty generous full English breakfast washed down with a pot of tea and a cappuccino for the wife and I respectively. Good value and cooked well. Next time we're in York we'll definitely be back.

Stopped for brunch with friends. Ordered 3 meals including Fishcakes, the sandwich and the all day breakfast were average, the fishcakes were frozen in the middle. The waitress took them back to the kitchen and said that they would be redone. Waited around 20 minutes, everyone else had finished their meals and as a type one diabetic I needed to eat. No sign of the fishcakes. Explained to the waitress that I needed to eat as I am type 1 diabetic, and the others in my party had eaten their meals, and as such we no longer wanted to wait for the fishcakes. She went to tell the kitchen. We asked for our bill, the waitress said that we wouldn’t be charged for the fishcakes and we had been given a 10% discount. Which was the only positive thing of the visit.

We always go to Bailey's when in York. The food, service and atmosphere is first class. We look forward to our next visit!

Visited at end June for breakfast, my wife had cheese and tomato on toast and I had scrambled egg on toast, both were fresh and tasty, the Staff were really friendly and price was reasonable.

Enjoyed this lovely cafe with my family one afternoon. We had wonderful cream teas which are best in York.

I had the salmon, scrambled egg with muffin and husband had the full breakfast. It was okay. A bit pricey I thought for what we got. 25 pounds for that and 2 coffees. Staff were friendly. Place was clean

Proper cup it tea in a real cup. Busy, (always a good sign) friendly , traditional. And right in the centre of town. Recommended

We were REALLY looking forward to having a cream tea. BIG mistake to go to this cafe. I personally asked the waitress if it was real double cream. I do not class squirty cream from a can as real cream. She of course said it was, and when we went to pay she kept watching me to see if I would says anything, what’s the point wouldn’t have changed a thing.

We had a great time during our lunch here. Amazing food and professional service. We went back again for breakfast and it was yummy. The Darjeeling Tea was good as well. Very nicely located and highly recommended.

Delicious English breakfast, although a lot of butter for a Spaniard, but the meat, eggs and beans... So good!! I recommend it!!

Scrumptious food reasonably priced. Just one tiny point: as a visitor I was surprised to be faced with a contactless card machine asking if I wanted to pay an extra 10% or an extra 20% tip. I prefer to leave a few pounds on the table as I leave . It's pressurised and presumptive to adopt the former.

Arrived bang on 8.30 for breakfast. Had a warm welcome quick service as more customers arrived. Finding a places that open before 9 Bailey’s hit the spot. Fully recommend ( although haven’t paid yet)

The cafe lacks atmosphere; unfortunately the Lemon Meringue pie was rather tasteless and the Cappuccino was disappointing, we were underwhelmed by the visit.

Simple food and nothing special.

Very expensive 9.85 for a very small Brie and Bacon toastie, food was ok, but would never go there again at those prices. I think a bit of a tourist trap as was very busy, so maybe other people don't mind paying those sort of prices.

Great Service. Was originally going for breakfast next door but I refuse to que for a breakfast. Luckily walked into here and it was so good I went the next day aswell. Great price, great food, friendly staff and the Mocha was the best I have had in a while. :)

Baileys Cafe is reasonably priced considering location and what it has to offer. Would recommend for a basic English. Breakfast. Lovely smoothies too!

I had an unpleasant experience at Bailey's cafe. The prawn omelette I ordered lacked seasoning and flavor. Additionally, the vegetarian breakfast option was disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I had an horrible experience at Bailey’s cafe. I had a Cheese Omelette 🍳 . It wasn’t cooked well. The chips were soggy and the staff wasn’t welcoming towards the foreigner crowd.

My experience at this cafe was awful. I ordered a mushroom omelette, but it came without any salt. Despite that, I managed to eat half of it. Then, to my shock, I discovered a prawn inside the omelette. If I had been allergic to seafood, it could have been dangerous. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone.

Lovely little place to have some food . The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing . I would definitely go back there. They had a wide choice of dishes . The omelets are amazing and so are the breakfasts .

Really disappointed with this cafe - we came for a very basic bacon roll and a sausage and egg roll. We had asked for extra bacon as only 2 rashers are included on a large roll (definitely not enough especially when considering the price!). When it came, the bacon was really fatty (about half fat half actual meat) so by the time we’d taken it off it was basically just one rasher on a large bread roll. The sausage was nice (nothing special) but the egg was very overcooked. We also had filter coffee which wasn’t great and a Diet Coke which seemed to be straight out of a large bottle. For all of this the price was £22.95 - absolutely ridiculous for a small local greasy spoon cafe.

Very popular cafe only 7-8 minutes walk from the rail station, near York Minster with a good range of food & drink options in a pleasant & comfortable atmosphere. Generally better value than many other nearby cafes apart from the, frankly, exhorbitant cost of bog-stand breakfast tea (£3.10 in February 2024) and the requirement to pay almost £1 extra for mushrooms with your breakfast.

Fabulous little cafe near River. Extensive menu - all home made from memory including quiche and cakes. Had blue cheese open sandwich- very generous portion. Very tasty. Service was swift. Coffee good. Recommended.

this is a local and independent cafe on the outskirts of York city centre, opposite liberty square. It has a wide variety of food and drink to choose from, and a staff member comes to your table to take your order. Payment is taken at the tills. There are plenty of seats as this cafe is quite bigd.

Good value, everyday food, good service and fair price also if your looking for somewhere that's family friendly and a relaxed atmosphere this is the place for you

Always go there every time we visit York

Perfectly average. The atmosphere is virtually non-existent and decor is basic. Service was okay, polite. Our orders were completely messed up: we all asked for English breakfasts in different varieties and non of them came out correctly, I didn't even get toast on mine and none of us asked for a breakfast without toast. Food was average, nothing I couldn't have done a better job of at home. Food was luke warm. Won't be coming back when there are so many better places about.

Convenient location on the right just over the bridge, healthy fresh food and good desserts. Had lunch and dinner there a number of times in October 2023.

Service excellent but got the eggs royale on the specials list and was luke warm at best served with freezing cold hollandaise sauce on the side very dry. Still ate it as my friend in a rush didnt want to complain and wait for refire. However coffee very good value and nice enough. Will still be going back as I think it's good value for money and heard the full English is nice but will get not get muffins again.

Just a lovely little cafe. Breakfast was gorgeous, staff were friendly and a really good price (full English was less than £9. I didn’t want some items on the menu and they swapped them for free. Very clean and no loud music blaring, loads of seating too and quick service

My son's favourite tea room in York. Loves the place, as the waiting staff ALWAYS adapt his order to suit his preferences, without charging extra!!! Highly recommend 😊

Great tasting food, excellent service and very well priced

There were three of us plus baby in pram at early lunchtime, the staff were very helpful and made room for us with the pram, then we needed a highchair, again they were happy to help. The food was excellent as was the service, we felt most welcome. Highly recommended.

Walked around York for over 3 hours without being able to get a seat for dinner anywhere. Stumbled across this little gem. Had steak pie and chips which was really tastey. Went back the next morning for breakfast and that was just as nice. Freshly cooked on both occassions. The staff where brilliant and worked hard in a very hard in a very busy tea room. Highly recommended.

Visited today for lunch, very busy but staff were welcoming and found us a table as soon as possible. I had the open turkey sandwich which was lovely!! Highly recommend a visit. Will be calling next time we are in York

Visited York for the Christmas markets so everywhere was busy!!! We waited outside in the queue for 15-20 mins but oh boy was it worth it……quite possible the best Sausage & Bacon sandwiches ever. A very quant little cafe, excellent friendly staff, with great views out to the Minster.

Lovely food and wonderful staff.

This place feels like the canteen in a budget care home …the kind of care home that isn’t very caring, and isn’t really home. It smells like that too. Looking around, the appearance of the clientele does nothing to assuage that uncomfortable impression. To all but the grubbiest of tourists: York is wonderful city with many wonderful places to enjoy a hot drink and a snack, this isn’t one of them. To fellow York residents: I think this place is best left to coach passengers on day trips from Bradford and other such depressing places, they’ll feel right at home.

Baileys is a lovely tea room very airy and pleasant the food is amazing we had a full breakfast it was delicious the cakes are amazing they do a full menu really really good food the staff are amazing dale was very good and friendly to us it is a must to visit
