The food was amazing well cooked warm plates very good choice of vegetables, I had the lamb beautiful, my wife and her mum both had chicken. Staff were amazing, very polite and attentive. Went here for lunch today. We were looking for somewhere different from places we usually eat and we plumped for The Lord Collingwood in Upper Poppleton. Very happy we chose to go here as we had a very enjoyable experience. The Food was lovely, my steak was cooked to perfection and my wife enjoyed her Chicken Parmo. The beer was very nice. I had Timothy Taylors Landlord and my wife had Orchard Pig cider. The staff were very polite, friendly and welcoming too. We'll definitely go back again. 👍😊

The beer was spot on and cosy warm atmosphere with 2 real fires. Unfortunately the food was of very poor quality and would definitely not eat there again. Luxury fish pie was lacking in fish and Luxury. Sojthern fried chicken burger was very small and overcooked tasting burnt. Nobody enquired as to whether we enjoyed our meals.

First time visit and a very pleasant experience. Two open fires making it warm and cosy, tastefully decorated. Landlord beer and Truffler cider were kept to a good standard. Having wanted to visit the Lord Collingwood for a long time ,we were not disappointed with the food or the warm welcome from the staff. The liver, onions and mashed potatoes were cooked just right for my husband, the gammon, egg and chips were my choice. All cooked perfect and to our liking. If you enjoy good home cooked food, then you will not be disappointed. We will be looking forward to our next visit.

We went for Sunday lunch and as soon as you walked through the door all you could smell was over cooked cabbage, I had Roast Beef, 1x roast potato (deep fried), Brussel sprouts grey and over cooked, Cabbage that had given up and full of water, swede that was over cooked tasteless mashed potatoes, carrots limp, garden peas were two tone fresh frozen mixed with old pre cooked, and watery gravy. I think the Lord Collingwood should invest in a new chef, because the current one does not have any pride in their standards sorry

With some investment I am sure this place could thrive but as it stands it fairly typical of the village pub that has seen better days. The place was awash with children when we went (better than dogs) and two large TV screens dominate the place which for me is a complete no no. The (I think) landlady was very welcoming and I am sure many locals love this place but not my cup of tea I am afraid, dull and drab.

I sometimes wish TA had another button. Six would be good as the difference from average to very good in my opinion is good and good is what the LC is... it's certainly not average. As others have said. This is a typical Yorkshire pub. No airs, no graces. The food is good, not brilliant. The atmosphere was good. And good value for money. Let me explain. Sunday lunch. The vegetables with the Roast Beef were poor - overcooked and tasteless. The beef however was good and the Yorkshire Pud when it came, excellent. Gravy excellent. The Scampi was really good - lots of it, hot and tasty. the chips okish and just short of more peas. The crumble just liked mother used to make. Lots of it. Would we go again? Yes we would, whilst the LC did have a few rough edges, overall it offered traditional food at fair prices.

It is quite hard, when visiting somewhere new, to find a proper, traditional, non-chain, local village pub. We were lucky enough to find this one. The Lord Collingwood is attractive, popular with locals, has proper open fires, good beer and genuine homemade and home-cooked food at a reasonable price. We had liver and onion casserole with mashed potatoes, chips, mashed swede, brussels, peas and carrots. It was absolutely delicious. The next table was enjoying a homemade lasagne and scampi and chips. Generous portions and .... well, just proper food! The beer was well kept and we loved our visit with this most welcoming couple. A great place to visit.

Extremely friendly, traditional old village pub on the green in Upper Poppleton. Dog friendly. 17th century Grade 2 listed building. Fires, beams and a fantastic carved oak bar from the 19th century. Smiley eyed Bev (& Mr Bev, sorry, didn't get your name!) were wonderfully welcoming and warm, convivial hosts. Definitely a case of right folk in the right occupation. Car park. Beer garden to the rear with some shaded seating and an abundance of other assorted seating to the front and side. Handpulled cask beers were Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker, Black Sheep and Hobgoblin Gold. Loved the beer, totally loved the old carved bar, good food, but it's best assets are the landlord and landlady. See you again! Highly recommended.

Recommend here and certainly was not disappointed! It's a traditional old fashioned village pub that has not lost any of its charm. Its spotlessly clean and the staff are really pleasant. There's a lovely beer garden at the rear if you fancy a pint in the sunshine. We ordered a good cross section of meals to compare, and everyone was delicious. If you decide to have the Chicken Parma, make sure you've not eaten for a week....its vast! Prices are very reasonable for a rural location, and it's certainly worth the run out. Disabled Access is via a ramp at the front door, but it is a little tight to turn through the door. WiFi available with a code from behind the bar. We came to this wonderful pub on the 28th of May 2022 and had a wonderful couple of beers. This is a wonderful pub and the staff are so very very friendly indeed. There is a wonderful beer garden with lots of seating, the beers are extremely well kept and are very enjoyable indeed. My only big criticism here though is that the drinks are extremely expensive. This does sadden me considerably because when you are a real ale drinker like I am you don’t expect to pay extortionate prices for such beers as hobgoblin. We paid just under £18 for four beers. You would think that because there is another pub nearby they would reduce the prices to get more customers and therefore have some competition. Having said that I will definitely go here again but I will be extremely careful of what I order because of the extreme high prices.

I ordered fish chips and mushy peas..the fish was not fresh and the batter was poor..the chips were hard and could have been cooked better. The peas and the save were fine. The staff were lovely and attentive. My friend ordered chicken and ham pie which she enjoyed. There was no mash which was advertised on the specials board..she opted for a jacket potato instead which again was fine. She did expect vegetables as stated on the specials board but only got a small tub of mushy peas which she hates. Sort but the fish is now in the dog!!

It has been some time since we last visited the Lord Collingwood for a meal but we had a visitor and decided to go for Sunday lunch. We were welcomed straightaway and the food and service were excellent. There was a nice homely atmosphere and there was no music playing, which is something one member of the party really appreciates as his hearing is not so good - and the chosen music is not always to everyone's taste. So full marks for that. We really must not leave it so long before we have another meal there.

Clean & cosy restaurant, fast service, pleasant staff and delicious food. Originally meant to go next door but there was a queue. What a result! My first impression was how clean the restaurant was. It was spacious but cosy. When people came in to wait for a table they never had to wait long. The staff were relaxed but fast. The environment was calm and happy. Bailey’s veggie breakfast was amazing. My husband had a regular breakfast. My son had a sausage roll which turned out to be a sausage sandwich in a roll as opposed to an actual sausage roll pastry but he was happy. We will come again as our son is studying at the Uni for the next 4 years
