Cosy Club York in York

First time, food was lovely, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

This place is a wonderful place to have some lunch. I didn't go in the evening, so I couldn't comment on that. The food wasn't bad either

Cosy club is a very stylish bar & restaurant. Located on Fossgate, within what was once Yorks first cinema. The bar area downstairs operates on a first come first basis, in other words, no booking is required. The restaurant on the first floor (The red carpet), does require booking, you can also hire this area for private functions. The food is good, as is the service. I particularly like the ambient atmosphere.

Visited at the end of January with my daughter. This was our second visit. Both times we were looked after by Tanya, and the service we received was excellent. She is a credit to your company, and made us feel very special. The Club Sandwich and fries were excellent too, and we will definitely be back.

Great looking restaurant, The service was average. Food was not so good. The slow cook Ox cheeks pasta was way too salty. One more thing, the cutlery, I can almost figure out what previous user was eating. You better clean it up before using it.

Absolutely brilliant service last night. We just went for dessert- we had the chocolate mousse and the miso caramel tart.. and omg both were just SO GOOD!

Stumbled across Cosy Corner while strolling through York looking for somewhere to have lunch. The interior of the venue is worth a visit on its own merit and is definitely not let down by the food and service. Our waitress was incredibly patient as we were chatting so much it took us ages to look at the menus ! There was so much we wanted on the menu, we decided to share some small plates. We had the croquettes ( which were so good I instantly regretted sharing!), prawns that were firm and tasty, honeyed halloumi and delicious laffa bread. We are visiting from London but hope to fit another visit in before we head home.

Accomodated a group of 7 adults and 2 Children without reservation on a Friday night. Service was swift as was the food. Excellent atmosphere, enjoyable experience

Service at the Cosy Club is always brilliant. We came here for Sunday brunch and were served very promptly. Food always delicious and our waitress was lovely and friendly. I will always recommend York Cosy Club!

Best breakfast we have ever had in our lives!!! Highly recommend the dirty breakfast butty in particular. Fantastic for gluten free alternatives for me too* never had better hash browns couldn't believe they are GF! Beautiful quirky place and the food and service was amazing. Bacon jam is a revolution btw!!

Met up with family for a coffee. Stayed for lunch. Enjoyable experience However staff seemed slightly overwhelmed during a busy period.

Not the cheapest, expect £15 to £20 for breakfast with a tea/coffee (more if you want a breakfast cocktail). That said, the food is superb, and the staff friendly and attentive. Recommended, will return.

Ordered an Old Fashioned... took 2 min to make, no orange zest... basically a bourbon shaken with an orange bitter. When questioned barman, not a mixologist, claimed it doesn't really take that long... tastes like a bourbon and orange bitter I mixed in my kitchen in a protein shaker!! Massively over priced for a very poor service from people who don't know what they're doing!!

I recently had a disappointing experience at The Cozy Club that I feel compelled to share. From the moment we arrived, things started off on the wrong foot. The Coke served was notably flat, which was just the beginning of our issues. When our meals arrived, I was shocked to find that my flat steak was served cold and incredibly dry. My girlfriend's burger was also cold to the touch, and the chips were stale—definitely not what we expected for the price we paid. To make matters worse, the customer service left much to be desired. Our waiter seemed more interested in flirting with my friend than providing us with proper service, which caused a bit of jealousy. As we moved on to dessert, the experience only got worse. I noticed my friends-cheesecake was frozen solid; when they tried to dig in with my spoon, it was like hitting a brick wall. The dessert ended up flinging off the plate and landing on the table—an absolute disaster. Overall, The Cozy Club did not live up to its name or reputation. Between the poor food quality, awful service, and the unfortunate location near the bar filled with rowdy patrons, I can confidently say this visit was not worth the price. I won't be returning anytime soon.

Visited here during a trip to York a couple of weeks ago. Originally planned on going to Rise across the road but didn’t want to wait in a queue outside on the rain. Gave Cosy Club a shot and was really happy, great food and service. Would definitely come back on next trip to York!

Absolutely shocking! Don’t waste your time or money. Food was either wrong or stone cold. The staff blamed each other and took no accountability for the dreadful service. I booked for a family treat and was left very embarrassed. I honestly don’t know how this place is still functioning. It wasn’t even busy. So no excuse. Ruined my Boxing Day.

Had our 50th anniversary meal with a large family, it's the first time we have eaten here very nice inside food was great service was brilliant seeing all tables booked had a gret eveving very busy staff very friendly and helpfull would recommend well done.

Friendly service, very cool decor all in a converted cinema, recommend it.

Friendly staff, chilled atmosphere. Disappointed that my first and second choices for breakfast were not available. Maybe because it was a Monday after a busy weekend. Maybe best to avoid that day so they can restock...

We stumbled upon this lovely place whilst visiting York. There was no available seating for table service but we had a lovely little window seat in the lounge. I can honestly say I had the nicest cappuccino I've ever had. My partner ordered the club sandwich which he said was the nicest one he's ever tasted. The lunch felt like a lovely indulgent treat and we just wish we lived closer to one.

Looked good on arrival but our 'greeter ' was not helpful nor friendly. The reason I say it didn't live up to its name is because it was NOT cosy. After 20 mins we found uncomfortable seats and stools. Long queues at the bar, we saw people leaving because of it. Bar man refused to serve pink gin as said it didn't exist!!! Next one accidentally spilled a cocktail over one of us. Cocktails overpriced as per. Tables not cleared and we were there over an hour what with queues for bar. Come on now!!! Never mind only looking after those who eat, we spent 💰 too.

Ordered the Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice for £5.95 and was served carton orange juice from concentrate. With the seven of us ordering it was over £40 for a cheap carton of OJ! Had to ask twice before they gave us the real stuff. Food was also disappointing, went for the Cali Brunch, egg and toast were cold and tough, and there were just a few crumbs of feta.

The food was good but the service was bad. We waited almost 40 minutes for our drinks to arrive. I had to choose 4 times for my drink as they had run out of stock for my original choices. We decided not to have desert as, yet again, they did not have what we wanted, even after we were told everything was available

A good menu, with a decent selection of plant based options. Food was good but would say it's slightly on the expensive side for the options, maybe though it's just a reflection of the current economy.

Nice posh place for food and drinks . Drinks on the pricey side but I suppose it keeps the riff raff out.

My husband & I are from America and last minute decided to eat here on our anniversary, and we are SO glad we did! This was the best meal we had from our trip to the UK!! The atmosphere is really cool. There wasn’t a lot of people in there but I have no idea why because it was amazing! Highly recommend!!

Nice breakfast, arrived at 10am and we were the only ones in. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We were sat downstairs and everything is a bit dark and gloomy (good if you've got a bit hangover). We had the chorizo hash and 3 stack American pancakes, 2 cappuccinos and fresh juice. Drinks were excellent and I loved the chorizo hash, but my wife thought her pancakes were not that hot and she had eaten better. But overall it was a good experience.

Tasty food, good value and very good service

Our family consisting of two adults and two children aged 9 & 11 had dinner and what a fantastic time we had. We were greeted by a very freindly waitress who offered us a table and asked if we were happy with where we would be sat, that was a nice touch The menu was really excellent with some lovely dishes, asian chick was supherb for a starter and our mains were absolutely divine, the steak was cooked perfectly The service from start to finish was excellent along with the atmosphere and the decor. It is all really reasonably priced which made for an absolutely greta night out

Slow service, waited 15 minutes at the bar and had no interaction with staff so left. It wasn't even busy

The Spanish chicken was superb and the desserts were excellent. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Will come back again.

Visited on Sunday for brunch and was impressed. A huge venue that looks good on the eye and was really popular. Dog friendly in the bar area, where the comfortable chairs and sofas are located. The service stood out when taking the order and when fussing our dog. Really enjoyed my Chorizo Hash, which was decently priced. However, some of the other choices made by our party weren't as value for money (such as the Vegan Dirty Breakfast Butty). On the whole I would certainly recommend to others.

Had a brilliant brunch in here on a very busy Saturday. Food was really good and our waiter Luke was incredibly friendly and helpful.

Dropped in for a late lunch with a friend yesterday as we've never dined there before. Two young gentlemen served our table (unfortunately I didn't get their names) and they were both friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious. The smash burger and mozzarella truffle fries took burger and chips to the next level. The surroundings were opulent but quirky. I enjoy an ambience as much as the next person but we dined upstairs and my only, tiny gripe is that it was so dark. My friend is no Kate Moss but I would have liked to have been able to see her lovely smiling face across the table! I left a tip so hopefully they could pop 50p in the meter 😉

When you first walk in the ceiling and walls just keep your eyes mesmerized. Dozens of framed paintings are all over the walls and fringed chandeliers are hanging at the entrance. Lounge chairs and foot stools at the front entrance are part of the bar service. Upstairs and in the back are dining tables and chairs. We had the house beef burger and the Cosy club sandwich. Both were delicious. Very large establishment. I’ve seen babies in strollers and centurions here and everything in between for ages. Reasonable prices. This review is purely for Tanya. Attentive, understanding and unreservedly polite. She made a good meal soar to a 5 *. If cosy club see this, she is a gem and needs to be preserved. The other staff overseeing can acclaim this as they were fantastic too. Will return.

Restaurant was fairly quiet when we visited, we enjoyed the food and the service was very good. Really big hats off to the staff for the care taken with people that have severe food allergies, without doubt the most attentive to this issue I've seen in any restaurant I've visited before.

Took a bit of getting the server to u derstand coffee no milk ! Even the American lad understood I didn't want oat milk ......the guy was new so will let him off ......really nice place have been a few times ...Nice when not too busy

We went in for breakfast and coffee. The building feels very spacious and welcoming but as there were a lot of people it was rather loud. A very nice staff member greeted us and seated us at a table and handed us the menu. Got the full English and could not fault it and the coffee was good too

Arguably the most beautiful Cosy Club location, this is a favourite of mine. We dined on a quiet Thursday evening but were given as much enthusiasm as if it were a busy weekend. Soph and Sophie were both professional as much as they were fun: always smiling and attentive. The bar team made us the classic cocktail we requested which wasn’t on the menu, and the service was timed perfectly, giving us a plenty of time to relax and enjoy our evening but not having to wait too long for the food to arrive! My only mark down is that the portions seem to get a little smaller every time I visit a Cosy Club, but they do seem to be putting more emphasis on bolder flavours in the menu which is commendable. Every dish we chose tasted delicious and fresh. Excellent venue, even more excellent food and some of the sunniest, most amazing servers in the business.

Visited twice in two days. Cocktails great on first visit, reasonable selection. Breakfast on second visit was great, though was busy and did have a long (ish) wait between ordering and eating. Would good again.

Found through a Google search when looking for breakfast. It did not disappoint, food super, waitress called Kayla great and the place itself was breath taking.

Very nice chain which differ location to location. Great cocktails and friendly staff who asked if we went for a special occasion. We stopped by on our honeymoon and so got a glass of bubbly !

Visited here for a breakfast with my partner and it was fantastic from start to finish. The service was outstanding and really set the standard on how you look after your customers. Wish I got the young lads name who served us, as he is a real asset to the team and I couldn’t fault him. The food was exceptional and I can’t wait to visit again soon. Luke, Luke, Luke.. What a lively chap, moment we sat down from the moment we left he was very attentive, gliding across the restaurant floor with purpose and finesse 😂😂.. He made sure me and my partner were looked after during our stay. He will be a manager of an establishment anytime soon the way he presents himself. Great addition to your staff, and also met Blair too, also a great chap and friendly. We will be back because of Luke. What a cosy place (no pun intended)

Wanted somewhere new as a treat to go with family for brunch, as walked past many a time but never dined in. The staff were super helpful and attentive and were very gracious at giving us time to choose from the menu. The food was delicious and the coffee was just perfect. Really lovely atmosphere and start to the day. Highly recommend. 😊
