Host in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Perfect place to go in St Ives for a leisurely Sunday roast with family and friends. A well spent couple of hours with great food, beers and wine. Most of us had the roast which has to be one of the best in town, at a good quality v value price of £18. Others had the confit chicken and the hake which also had good feedback. Desserts were delicious and very well presented. Kids seemed very happy too with their generous portions and funky mocktails. Haven’t tried the pizzas yet, but that’s next on the list.

Ordered a gluten free dough pizza. They charged an extra £4 for the gluten free base. £15.80 for a small pizza I collected! Average too

Stayed for a week in Carbis Bay in a lovely apartment. Haven’t been to St Ives for many years, not sure why but so happy to return. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming AND then we walked into Host - a beautiful bar with so much imagination, lovely furnishings, colour, lighting and music. But what really struck us was the wonderful welcoming service and atmosphere. My wife is not a fan of pubs and bars but she fell in love with this place and we came back nearly every evening. We now have our favourite bar and top of our go to places. I asked our server ‘are you the owner’ he replied jokingly ‘yes unfortunately’ and was a great host. Always busy, but every time the staff managed to accommodate my family. This is a wonderful addition to St Ives and will definitely return as soon as we can - Great Job!

Whilst my review is for dinner, we have been for coffee/drinks, lunch and dinner! We have been coming to St Ives for years - and Host is the MOST welcome addition! A cocktail bar/coffee stop/ pizza place /fine dining - it really caters for every taste!! Drinks are top notch, pizzas are amazing - but the dinner is definitely gastronomical! Highly recommend the scallops/hake/steak! The suites above Host are something else, stylish and luxurious doesn’t even come close…….

A stunning bar, great atmosphere and fabulous food, drink and service. The hake dish is AMAZING! This is our favourite bar/restaurant in St Ives and a must if you are visiting. Rose looked after us was amazing.

Great service, atmosphere and furnishings. It has taken an effort and eye for detail to convert the quality Nat West building into a welcoming restaurant (has rooms too). The menu was very good and we had a nicely presented Sunday lunch which came with all the trimmings: local butcher’s topside of beef with chimichurri; Yorkshire pudding; roast potatoes; greens; red cabbage; celeriac purée; carrots; stuffing; house gravy; and parsnip crisps. It was plenty! There was a good choice of starters, mains & desserts. Liked the interesting variety in the wine list. We have been coming to St Ives for many years and this had to be one of our best Sunday lunches.

I had never been here before now but i had many people telling me it was a great spot in the heart of st ives so I thought i’d pop down for dinner and wow were they right! The two ladies that were with guests are lovely and chatty and made the place feel warm and friendly. The food was AMAZING and I couldn’t have enjoyed it more (I had the venison stew and my wife the duck) and even though i was so full i couldn’t resist a dessert as they looked so amazing and we didn’t want our time there to end. Thank you for the amazing experience and i will definitely be coming back soon and hear the live music and try a pizza!

We wanted to try somewhere new and we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a friendly smile and the waitress remembered us from our 1st time visiting the week before which made us feel really welcomed. The food is amazing I had the golden eye pizza which I can’t recommend highly enough and the point break pizza so tasty and delicious and very reasonably priced. They do do other things then pizza so if your in Stives or further out I highly recommend o and they do takeaway too so pop in you really won’t be disappointed.

We visited twice whilst in the area, once for a roast dinner and the other for a pizza. All the staff were really friendly and gave great service. Both the roast dinner and the pizza were brilliant. Excellent quality and the portion sizes were just right. The decor inside is lovely as well. Would definitely visit again next time we are in the area.

Really nice pizza but 30 minutes waot was a little long. Also fwlt like it was a lottle pricey for pizza and a drink for 2 people. Waitress lovely. Did feel a little judged by the man at the bar when we didnt leave a tip on paying

We arrived around 5 minutes before our 6.30pm booking & our table was still occupied, but that was OK, we were happy to wait as it was busy. We were shown to some window seats and our drinks order was taken. Drinks arrived quickly and we were also given menus so as not to delay things once our table was ready. We were seated at our table at around 6.50pm, but then had to wait a further half hour for our starters to arrive. My husband ordered the Stem Broccoli with Romesco Sauce & Parmesan, which was tasty, but barely warm when it arrived. He was so hungry he ate it anyway. I ordered the Honey Roast Parsnip Soup, which was lukewarm in the middle and cold everywhere else so I asked the waitress (who apologised) for a fresh, hot soup. When my new soup arrived it was piping hot and tasted delicious, but it's a shame my husband and I couldn't eat our starters together. Our main meals (pork for me and chicken for my husband) arrived at about 7.45pm, but again, the food was barely warm, served on stone cold plates. What little heat was in the food quickly disappeared so I didn't actually finish mine as it was just too cold to enjoy. What we did eat did taste very good, but it was sadly not hot. At no point did anyone come to our table to ask us how our food was or if we would like more drinks. We left our dinner plates on the table and went to the bar to pay where I told the waitress how disappointed we were with the meal. She apologised and said she would "let the kitchen know". When we got home we sent an email to Host (rather than jumping straight to social media giving poor reviews) telling them of our disappointing experience and that our £70 had not been money well spent in our opinion. It's been a week and we've had no reply to our email, so it seems Host really do not care. We live locally to St Ives and regularly eat out in the town, but we won't be returning to Host any time soon. Very poor.

Really disappointing, we went for a Sunday roast after looking on the website, the price was £17:50 on there, a bit pricey but thought we would go so booked. On arrival the menu said £19:50 so that was a shock but persevered as too late to go anywhere else. The roast came on a plate but half was missing, we waited and waited and eventually had to ask the waitress for the veg and Yorkers and gravy! The plate had arrived cold so the food we had was not warm, tasty but not hot so all in all disappointed all round 😢

My review title sums it up really! We received a very warm welcome and were shown to our table...great atmosphere, and very dog friendly too! The menu is simple, but varied. I opted for the steak with hasselback potatoes, and I was tempted with the panna cotta for dessert. All washed down with a nice local beer. I look forward to going back next time I'm in St. Ives.

We were glad we booked our table in advance as it was very busy but service was excellent. We arrived slightly early for our reservation time but this didn’t cause issues. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We had calamari and halloumi fries for starter. Best halloumi fries EVER! We both had the sourdough pizza which were super tasty. Highly recommend this place but booking is advisable.

This relatively new restaurant should be in the top 3 restaurants in st ives fabulous menu and attention to detail perfect probably one of the few restaurants that dosnt add service charge. The quality of food and selection of small plate offers are good value....

With a limited menu, Host serves lovely food without a long wait. The restaurant is comfortable and the staff make you feel welcome. Service is excellent. Prices are reasonable. We will visit again.

We had not booked anywhere and with two hungry kids in tow we asked on spec and just before 6pm. We had a dairy allergic child, and nothing was too much trouble, the vegan cheese and tomato was adapted for child taste without the extras....

Just called in around 8pm. The menu was limited to pizza, calamari and chips so we ordered some of each and it was absolutely delicious . Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again . Waitress was lovely, friendly and chatty.
