Food was on the poor side of average (pies were WAY too salty), and they only had one cask ale available. Nicely decorated, but soulless (with incredibly generic music on the speakers). On the plus side the staff were lovely and the service was great

Hort’s Townhouse is a comfortable hotel, in an interesting old building and in a great location in the centre of Bristol. Only a short walk to the harbour area. Breakfast was good, staff were helpful and friendly, and we enjoyed our evening meal in the restaurant.  However, there was an issue with the plumbing in our room. Every time we used the cold tap in the bathroom, hot water ran out, and it took 2 or 3 minutes running until it became cold. So we had to clean our teeth with bottled water, to avoid the risk of the cold water being contaminated.  In addition, the sink did not drain properly. So when running the cold water tap to cool the water down, the sink filled up to the overflow, and took a long time to empty, leaving an unpleasant scum around the sink.  We mentioned this to staff members at the time, but both these issues should have been attended to by a plumber before our visit. We hope they have been attended to by now. Apart from that, the room was very comfortable, and we and our friends enjoyed our stay.

I'd say if you're staying in Bristol, try and get a room here. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous. Beautufully thought out and lots of attention to detail. The restaurant/bar serves a really delicious Sunday lunch. Room service was impeccable with a great breakfast selection. What really makes this place though is the staff. They were all incredibly welcoming, friendly and efficient. In particular, I need to mention Ed (the manager) who basically runs this hotel like a 5*. Also, granny had a bit of a fall whilst we were there and he could not have been kinder or more attentive. I can't speak highly enough. If there was one thing I'd raise it would be that it'd be great to have a phone in room. Granny in particular struggles with technology and so QR codes are a nightmare!

Stayed here for one night as I was in Bristol for a gig at the O2. Room was gorgeous - decorated in really smart art deco style and it was spotlessly clean. There were lovely little touches to welcome me too, like a little tot of port and chocolate truffles. Bed was squashy and comfy (and I was very grateful for the air con!) Staff were so polite and helpful, with super smooth check in and check out. The location is great - just a short walk to Temple Meads and loads of great restaurants and bars, but tucked away on a quiet street so no rowdiness at night. I'm just gutted I didn't have time to try the food as my pals and I already had a booking at Cotto - menus sounded delicious. We did squeeze in an excellent Hugo cocktail at the bar though! I'll definitely be booking another stay here next time I'm in Bristol.

What a lovely atmosphere. Friends we were with hadn't been before and liked the cosy traditional pub vibe. The food was good portions and really tasty. However the sticky toffee pudding was disappointing as not much toffee sauce and a little dry. It did seem a little short staffed and it was a busy night. There was no one to greet us on arrival, we found our reserved table. The waitress did a cracking job running around trying to keep everyone happy, and always with a smile. It didn't spoil our evening, we will be returning.

We met up with friends and I asked for a round table they were very accommodating the food was delicious good atmosphere and lovely decor

Made to wait ages for our food despite submitting a pre order, service was not very attentive either and had to get our own drinks from the bar, constantly forgotten about. Waited a long time for them to offer free drinks to make up for long wait, should have been offered quicker.

Good place for a night out with friends, not too loud so able to hear conversation. Food was very nice, home cooked & comforting.

6 of us went for a late lunch, it was our last day in Bristol before getting the train back to Essex & we wanted somewhere nice to end our 3 night stay. Worts Townhouse did not disappoint the food was lovely, the surrounding great & the waitress Co Co was very friendly & attentive she looked after us well. A very fabulous 5 star from us. We’re a fan of Youngs pubs, this has to be the best Sunday lunch in the area. Service was top class. Jamie (manager) was so passionate about the pub, and very attentive. Decor, outstanding. We had the beef roast, and half chicken roast. Both were amazing. We’ll be visiting often

We booked a two night stay with friends over New Year. We booked earlier in the year and asked if they would have anything going on NYE, we were told there would be a special menu and live, ticketed, entertainment in the bar, which we would get complimentary. Disappointingly there was nothing at all! The menu was in fact reduced as dishes were unavailable and barely any music in the bar. We should have been at least offered a glass bubbly to see in the new year. It was so quiet we actually went back to our room at 11.45pm to put on Jools Holland! We were told that as it was their first year open they were evaluating to see how busy it was in order to assess for next year. Really the wrong way round to do it, they should have been going all out to encourage people back next NYE, we certainly would not risk again. The lady on reception was really not bothered, we felt she only asked how things had been during our stay as part of her remit but did not take on board our response or care particularly. As for the hotel, on arrival we checked in and paid, only to notice that the rooms were now £90 each cheaper. As we were paying on arrival we queried the price but told that was only for new bookings?? No negotiation or apology. The rooms, bar & restaurant are lovely with an art deco feel. Rooms are clean & spacious, beds comfortable and shower was very nice. On our first morning the breakfast (included at £30 per room, per day) was very nice, however the second day it was not. It was over cooked and dry. The meal we had NYE was very nice, although the menu was limited and only one desert available. The waitress explained this was because it was new year and they had run out!? The waitress was very good, she was on her own in the restaurant all evening, until 2am and back again at breakfast. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and made the most of it. Sadly it was very disappointing, the original communication was very good but nearer the time it was unresponsive. We were promised a NYE menu and event but this never happened and no one told us or gave us the opportunity to look elsewhere. We had booked specifically based on this and felt we paid a higher price for it but it did not deliver. Based on our stay we would not return. We were told that the manager that had made the initial contact and promises had left the hotel. It really needs to be looked at and run better. It’s a shame as it could be a great place.

Our family Christmas Day dinner at Horts was excellent.The recent renovations of the interior are tasteful and well planed. The staff were accommodating, professional and organised despite our large booking (16 people) and a sizeable restaurant that was almost full. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with delightful seasonal reminders. We preordered our 3 course meals online and the food choices were ideal for the occasion. The online booking system was difficult to navigate to begin with, but it was useful that either one person could order for everyone or each person could order their own meal. There were multiple options for different dietary requirements and, although last minute editing was not possible, Horts staff were willing to make late changes to our booking. We did have to wait a while for our food to arrive, but everyone was impressed with their meals. The portion sizes were generous and the quality and taste was much better than food from other, more expensive restaurants. Overall, everyone enjoyed their experience and I would highly recommend Horts to anyone wanting a feast for a large group booking. We congratulate Horts staff for giving up Christmas Day with their families to serve us and we recognise the size of their sacrifice in doing so.

Staff very friendly but food was lacking. Once again meat very chewy(according to other family members and the vegetarian option was unimaginative and tasteless and unsuitable for a Christmas Day meal!! What is wrong with these establishments today. I wish I were In charge of menus. Also we were kept waiting for over an hour to receive our pre booked starters. In my opinion £95 ppph was extortionate.

Been to Bristol several times and always visit Horts for drinks or a meal. We had Sunday lunch this time and it was amazing. Great food, great service and we ended up staying for over 3 hours enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon. A big thank you to Charles and his team for the excellent service and very warm welcome. Only thing missing was watching snow fall outside sitting in those very comfortable leather wing back chairs!!!

From the beginning to end, the experience has been exceptional. I organise the company Christmas bash every year, for roughly 20 people, and after being burned in Oxford by a completely different company in 2022, I was on edge with the risk of that happening again in 2023. The HT team absolutely smashed it and 100% delivered, with everyone of my team saying how good this years venue was. The front of house staff were all amazing. You had a super friendly team of waiting staff, supported by a manager who worked quietly in the background over seeing everything and ensuring things ran smoothly. You could see the manager respected the staff and visa versa, by the way they all engaged with each other. Geat to see that in a high-pressure environment such as a packed out large pub at Christmas. The food was just as good as the service. The back of house staff clearly know what they are doing and we had 3 courses of delightful food. Some of the nicest beef I have personally eaten for my main as well. The venue is also lovely and well located. Thank you to the whole team for such a great Christmas lunch. Struggled with this review because it was a nice place but at £180 per night (not inc breakfast) it needed to be better. Pros: Comfortable bed, lovely bathroom products, nice decor, nice staff, amazing bath and shower, decent hair dryer. Double glazing meant that we weren’t disturbed by the busy street below. We were happy to have the aircon on! Further nice touches included the complimentary tipple and truffles, dressing gowns, honesty bar, friendly receptionist who carried my bag the many stairs, nespresso machine, fresh milk and hot drink things (but only 1 caffeinated and 2 decaf coffee pods supplied and only one hot chocolate for a double room?!). Cons: Bathroom not clean enough (particularly the floor which needed a deep clean), hotel/street lights super bright and curtains didn’t block it out properly (bring an eye mask!!), bathroom sink didn’t drain properly, dusty pictures and around the bedside tables etc there seemed to be more dust and pet hair(?!?!).

Great atmosphere and beautiful food. Me and my mother stumbled upon this cosy place for a late lunch. Staff were friendly and professional. Will 100% return and highly recommend

Lovely hotel, very well presented room with extra touches, chocolate truffles etc. Comfortable bed, friendly staff. Ideal location for visiting Bristol. I would definitely stay again. We ate in the pub during the evening and food was good, large portion and the staff very helpful.

Thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay in one of the bigger boutique rooms, extremely clean with all amenities to hand. Also had the Sunday lunch prior to our stay, the pork belly was fantastic followed by the nicest rice pudding I have ever had. Breakfast the following morning was also very enjoyable, with plenty of choice, all cooked to order. My only criticism would be the paint on the bathroom door had quite a few chips, which could do with touching up as everything else was perfect so stood out.

My friend and I chose Horts for an overnight stay with breakfast to catch up and visit Bristol. The hotel was fantastic in every aspect. The twin room was spacious and clean with all facilities required. Luxurious bathroom with quality products to use. Breakfast was delicious and the service was excellent. Visited for Sunday lunch today, first time in a while, but still as good as ever! I had the veggie wellington, 2 had the sausage and mash and one had the roast beef, but everyone enjoyed it equally, just so tasty. The staff are always lovely and can't do enough for you and so nice to find a place enjoyed equally by the meat eaters and the vegetarians in the group, highly recommend. This is always our go to place for Sunday lunch in town, first visit for one of our group, but she is now also a convert! As an added bonus, I always pop out the back for a sneaky ciggie, because I enjoy the history of the little tailors court out there! Can't wait to be back :)

Me and my husband got married yesterday at the Bristol Registry Office and went for a meal with our 50 guests to Horts.We went in a couple of months ago to see the venue - we both love old traditional pubs with high ceilings, story, character and this place was all that and more.As soon as you walk in, there are seating areas that immediately make you want sit down comfortably and have a drink and stay for hours just chatting along.Once you pass the bar, you have a big seating area with books, board games and a beautiful Victorian fireplace.French doors on the left with more space outside and... a cinema! Yes. A cinema!! And not a small one with a couple of chairs, a proper cinema room with the comfiest chairs you’ll ever sit on.We initially spoke to John (one of the managers) regarding our plans and if that was something they could accommodate. He was super nice to us, explaining us what they usually do for Christmas parties or birthdays or - in our case - weddings.They helped us come up with a Menu that was fitted to our budget and we were given a choice of (for Mains) chicken, beef, fish and vegetarian that our friends and family could choose from.A selection of desserts was also available and children’s options too. We wanted to have an informal wedding. A party where we could gather our closest friends and family to celebrate our love.John and Marc (also a manager), the Chef and all staff helped us have a day that it’s impossible to have been more perfect.The food was absolutely gorgeous, everyone was saying how tasty and well cooked it was.Me and my husband had the roast beef which was cooked to PERFECTION. The meat was tender, tasty and enough to keep everyone full.The vegan brownie was STUNNING. As a chocoholic this was a big thing for me. My husband had the lemon cheesecake, which on a warm day like yesterday (20 odd degrees) went down as a treat.To attend to the children we had at our wedding, the cinema was open so the children could run around and have a quiet space to be at whilst watching a movie.This was a HIT with our friends with children as it allowed them to have some much needed adult time while the kids entertain themselves. Marc and John allowed us to bring some popcorn and treats for the kids which helped us to personalise our day even more.What more can I say? Hired the cinema area for my cousins hen party yesterday and we had the best evening. Had the “basic buffet” package and the amount of lovely food we received was amazing, drinks slightly on the pricey side but it wasn’t an issue. The staff were welcoming and friendly and we are hoping to return again for my dads birthday later in the year as we had such a brilliant time! Thank you guys!

I gathered 15 of my friends for a lipsync battle/karaoke night. It was an absolute success! My laptop connected to the wifi easily. The video quality from the projector was great as well as the sound from the speakers. Everyone had a great time. We'll definitely be coming back!

I met family for Sunday lunch at Horts and this was my third or fourth visit. They never cease to impress. The service is always professional and friendly, they have a range of drinks and refreshments, the menu is not just a pile of glutinous meat and Yorkshire Pudding (there are even some a la carte options!) and the clientele are interesting, colourful and sociable. Maybe the cinema at the back has something to do with this. Every time I visit Bristol, Horts is sure to get a visit as well and I do recommend it for food or just a drink.

We were looking for a place for a toddler friendly family meal whilst staying in Bristol for the night and trying to avoid resorting to the Beefeater attached to the Premier Inn.
