Hornsea Tandoori in East Riding of Yorkshire

Well I am really sad to write this review. I love the food , we always visit the restaurant but today we ordered a takeaway, but this was the biggest mistake we did !!! After waiting longer than said we were phoned to say it was arriving !!! But where? It was a total shambles trying to phone the delivery person and after walking round looking for him, nowhere to be found we had to forget the delivery! And the restaurant manager didn’t seem to be bothered 😢 such a shame as I love the banter when we visit. Saturday night ruined 😠 and I’m sad because I will have to go elsewhere 😢

I thought I would write this review after reading a few negative reviews from a previous customers. Myself and my family were in the restaurant at the time waiting to be seated so we heard the full conversation taking place. The lady was saying that she had booked a table and the manager was trying to explain he had no booking for them, the restaurant was full and although we had arrived after the lady and her friend who were waiting to be seated, she pointed to the table that we had booked a long time before to celebrate my 60th birthday and the lady was wanting to be seated there. The manager was doing his best to explain this to the lady and her friend and she wasn’t having any of it. We heard the manager offering the lady a 50% discount on their next visit, but she dismissed it and left, saying she wouldn’t be back and would be leaving a bad review. Myself and my family members go to this restaurant regularly. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly, you won’t be disappointed.

The staff where amazing, lovely service and amazing food, would very much recommend coming here! If you have some time come down and visit :)

Been several times now and the food and service was the best in the area. If you want a curry in Hornsea this is the place to go. Highly recommend the mixed bhuna, I like a hot curry and the manager went out his way to make sure it was spicy. Can’t recommend enough staff friendly and food fantastic. ❤️

I booked by telephone a reservation for Saturday evening at 7pm for a friend and I who had travelled four hours from Essex. When we arrived for our reservation we were informed they had no table for us. But I phoned twice to confirm my reservation? The young man who said he had only worked there two weeks he had no idea what to do. When I asked to speak to the manager, he then decided he was the manager. He said we have no tables left. But I had a reservation. He replied I'm sorry no tables left. He was very nonchalant and laughed in my face. He was very dismissive and didn't want to help us at all. Never will I ever go again to this shabby run established. No people skills at all. I am so disgusted.

We live in surrounding area and often dine there and also have takeaways. I personally loath and allergic to leaf coriander, they always take care when preparing my food and don’t use it on my food. A group of us dined there New Year Eve and had a brilliant time. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough and the food and service is excellent. Special thanks to •Steve• (he said call me Steve lol) In conclusion, try this establishment, you won’t be disappointed.

Ordered takeaway. Bhajis were undercooked, raw in the middle. Main was slightly above average, plenty of meat, balti sauce was tasty but nothing special. Also had too many mushrooms in the balti sauce. Naan was ok. Value for money 7/10 Taste/Quality 7/10

Having tried more than my fair share of curry restaurants and takeaways and being quite fussy when it comes to quality. I have been very impressed with the food every visit (and delivery) I would highly recommend a visit! Well Done Guys 👍🏼

We had booked however walk ins were turning up on a busy Thursday evening, only two floor staff one delivering and one waiter, abhib ?, waiter was calm, polite, friendly and very welcoming to everyone even though the place was buzzing. Food was delicious, meat cooked perfectly, the best lime pickle in Hornsea too

Really good food. Bring your own alcohol. Staff very friendly. We were seved by a young lad called Jack. Really friendly....he is a credit to your company.

Our first visit to an Indian Restaurant in Hornsea - this was recommended and we weren't disappointed. I can honestly say that the food was first class and the service excellent! We took our own Indian beer as it isn't licensed. Jack took good care of us and was such a lovely young man - he went the extra mile to ensure everything was ok. He was the same with everyone - lovely to see! We shall definitely return again.

Not a lot I can say about our meal but AMAZING we live near the curry capital Bradford, and sample curries on a regular basis, but the quality and taste of this meal was excellent one of the best meals we have had for as long as I can remember, the flavours were outstanding, the staff were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble, we were recommended to go and did a 38 mile round trip from where we were staying, we will be back well worth the travel.

Food delicious. Great staff and well priced! First visit and definitely a go to place for us. Good to be able to bring your own alcohol. As a regular to Indian restaurants I rate this one of the best!

Having tried Hornsea Tandoori when it first opened in 2023, and rated it a top Indian Restaurant/Takeaway then, unfortunately not having been able to visit East Yorkshire for many months we tried it again, in the space of two weeks we must have had 5 visits. The Restaurant itself is small but bijou, having a welcoming feel on entering, the staff and I mean all the staff are welcoming and very friendly. The menu is large enough to cater for anyone, and the quality of the food and the meals is excellent, regards to the excellent chefs they have. I have eaten Indian food for over 50 years and it compares to the best we have had anywhere, keep up the good work and see you soon.

Food was first rate with good portion sizes. BYO booze is welcome too for choice and cost. We’ll definitely be making a return visit.

BRILLIANT FOOD. FANTASTIC RESTAURANT AND TAKEAWAY. You will not get a better Indian. The service is great. The staff are Ace. Even the takeaway was Ace. The delivery man was very polite and helpful. JUST ALL FANTASTIC.

We were quite disappointed as after reading the brilliant reviews we were excited to try it. The starters were very nice but the curries let the meal down. The handi bhuna lacked on spice and flavour and tasted like jarred curry which was a let down given the description on the menu and the chicken in it was really chewy. The madras was extremely salty and the lamb in the garlic chilli balti was very dry

Terrible food and service total waste of money and time, what a disappointment. Very expensive for what we got. Waited nearly 45mins for a pickle tray, onion bargies bland, main meal drenched in oil and unseasoned, don't waste your money.

Nothing special but coming from Bradford we know a good curry when we get one did ask for extra chillies but didn't get them and to much onion in the sauce more onion then meat.

The food is absolutely delicious. We've eaten in and had take away and never been disappointed. The food is on par with food I have eaten in India, London and Bradford. Authentic and freshly cooked.

The place was busy and we thought we would give it a try Food expensive nearly £4 for the tiniest vegetable samosas. They were definitely from a bulk buy frozen.. Not cooked fresh. Food was cold in parts of the meal. Definitely a microwave meal... I would say Tesco's with taste Chips not eaten under cooked and cold All 4 of us agreed NO RETURN. Price for 4 of us was in £70s range we come to Hornsea regularly and support the local businesses. Hornsea is a lovely parish town it's a shame we had a rubbish meal.

Brilliant staff Immaculately clean Exquisite food, try Lamb Handi Best Naan bread I ever had. Bring your own beer made it really cheap. Very highly recommended. See you again soon lads I wish you every success.

Wow! This is an awesome place. My wife and I dined in, and what a treat we had. Food was excellent, service was better. Nothing too much trouble. Very reasonably priced, and we took home nearly as much as we ate, as the portions are very generous. As an extra bonus, you can take in your own drinks.... what's not too like?

Got my first takeaway tonight, it wont be the last. The restaurant is neat, bright and spotless. Staff are very friendly and approachable, menu good, tried several different starters, main course Lamb Hindi absolutely delicious, well done , see you soon.

We got a take away Sunday night whilst house sitting in Hor.nsea. my wife had buttered chicken and i had the lamb Am muir. Tender meat lovely flavours just delicious. So good we went again on Wednesday just had different rice and nann bread. We got a cheese nanny instead of peshari we ordered but still very good. Hope they keep up the quality and fair prices.

Fabulous restaurant. The service was excellent. The food was of a high standard and the portions huge! Prices very reasonable. Bring your own booze! Very busy when we visited on a Saturday evening and the place was buzzing. A lovely atmosphere.

We were staying in the area for a couple of nights away and needed somewhere to eat while we were away. We noticed this place was very busy the day we arrived so we booked a table for the next day. We had an excellent meal. Pickle trays and poppadoms were provided before we ordered which gave us plenty of time to choose and the whole evening we felt very relaxed and in no way rushed. The starters (chicken pakoras) were very tasty and they let us keep the pickle tray throughout the meal to use with our meals. I ordered lamb pasanda and it was really tasty. Was told the meat standard was beef but that they could do lamb instead. The sauce was delicious and the lamb was tender. Partner had a keema and chicken dish (forget the name) and that was also extremely tasty. We didn't try the rice but the naan bread was good. In all we hope this place receives the support it deserves as we were told it had only been open a couple of weeks. The opportunity to bring your own drinks was great. We wish we had somewhere as good near where we live!

Went last night and it was fab, the staff are friendly, helpful and polite despite being extremely busy. The food was outstanding and such value for money, tastes so fresh and full of flavor. Highly recommend this place

My husband and I went last night for my birthday and it certainly lived up to our expectations!! Joshin(our waiter) was very knowledgeable about the menu and advised me what dishes to have based on my taste and he got it spot on! The food was delicious, the staff were very attentive and lovely. We will certainly be visiting again!

First visit and very impressed with excellent friendly service, fabulous tasty food all reasonably priced. Highly recommended and I personally like it being unlicensed and taking my own drinks. Definitely will return thanks Hornsea Tandoori.

Ordered a takeaway arrived at exact time. Mixed platter for 2 was to die for, meat was so tender. Both curries were really nice. Will definitely order again.
