Dawaat Indian Restaurant in East Riding of Yorkshire

Had my birthday meal here tonight and the food was gorgeous, there’s so much choice. Staff were very accommodating and made us feel so welcome. Even brought my birthday cake out and provided a knife and plates. Will definitely return!

Had a balti here on Saturday evening with pilau rice, really hit the spot. Plentiful and tasty and the service was very attentive. Definitely on the agenda for a return visit in the not too distant future.

Food was average at best and portions were quite small. It is also quite expensive.

In my opinion , this is the best Indian restaurant in and around Hessle, Anlaby, Kirkella and Willerby

We went on a Happy Hour night. The staff were welcoming, friendly, polite and accommodating. I would recommend the restaurant based on our expedience this week. I had a nice glass of House Red Rioja too.

Got chicken rogan josh which was fabulous but found the chicken madras to be very salty as a whole good

Local ish and a repeat Wednesday night visit but in February never going to be the most atmospheric. Food good, service friendly, polite and not overbearing. Midweek 3 course ( popadom, starter, main) good value at £15 But be mindful the drinks can add up to the price of the meals again.

We were looking for somewhere to have an early evening meal and decided on this local venue . We certainly made the right choice . We opted for the happy hour set menu available mid week . Plenty of choice . The food arrived as was presented to a high standard . Absolutely delicious & generous portions . The staff were very friendly too . Cannot recommend highly enough & we’re already planning a return visit .

Fantastic, probably my favourite Indian Restaurant, great authentic food and fantastic value for money.

I ordered the gost parwari (duck) and received the gost ohmori (lamb). The restaurant knew it was wrong but thought changing what was written on the lid would be enough. In any case the food was edible but not great

Had a lovely pre Christmas family meal here last night. Staff were lovely, food was first class, atmosphere for great. Highly recommend

Given the very high customer rating and extensive takeaway menu, we had high hopes that the 4 of us would enjoy a really excellent Indian Meal. However, whilst my wife had commendably large pieces of meat in her Chicken Pasanda, 3 of us were disgusted to discover that our King Prawn Biryanis contained NO KING PRAWNS WHATSOEVER, just a very few, miserably small, specs of prawns within our curry. This ruined the occasion, and consequently we cannot possibly recommend this establishment, especially as we had clearly ordered the King Prawns on-line, and had paid good money for them.

Ordered double checked price including delivery told £58.25 when food arrived told £68.25 was told they would put in some free poppadoms did not put in naan was dry and food was nasty meat was not marinated probaly the worst Indian I have ever had certainly won’t be going back normally the naan is decent food fell on the table as Bag was split from juices falling out of the containers it was lumps of meat chucked in a bland sauce certainly would not recommend horrendous.

Wow !!!! The food was absolutely delicious, the service, the staff everything was perfect. It was nice to see how busy they were too that just says it all. Definitely be back and it’s local to us also so what more could you ask for. Thank you for making our night.

Have been here many times over the years however the last 2 times have been fantastic, brilliant service and the food out of this world. Many years of eating Indian food and I can say hand on heart this has been the best do far. Not sure if it has changed hands or not, either way the quisine has improved to a level that once you have been again or for the first time, your going to be back!

One of our favourite restaurants. Always a friendly greeting , always a welcoming atmosphere, always exciting to read through the excellent menu. After chatting to our waiter I tried a new dish tonight : Special King Prawn Nawabi with mushroom pilau rice - absolutely delicious ! My girlfriend had her usual Veg Biryani and we shared a sag aloo. Service as always was superb with a minimum wait for freshly prepared food , flavours were rich and satisfying and overall I can say that once again we had a superb meal and an enjoyable experience. 10 out of 10 Dawaat , keep up the good work

Brilliant food with amazing Christmas service

I had a takeaway tonight but have dinner in so that's why I commented on the atmosphere .my food was superb

Ordered a takeaway normally very good. But not this time. The mea5t was over cooked no yoghurt with the salad and starters. Very disappointed.

Service is brilliant every time and food is great, will keep coming back.

On the whole, a nice place with good food. I had a Jalfrazi but wasn't quite as spicy as I'd expected. Still very nice though. Great service with friendly staff

Messed our delivery order up and the food was at best ok. Definitly not worth what it cost.

Very pleased with our food. This was the first time we have used Dawaat, ordering a delivery for 4 of us. Very polite when placing the order, arrived on time and very tasty. We will definitely order from here again.

A first visit and it definitely won't be my last. Extremely attentive staff who happily offered advice on their extensive menu. Mixed client group mid week which I think is always good to see in a restaurant. Temptation is always to 'over order'*. Glad we didn't as portions were more than adequate and staff checked in regularly to ensure we had anything necessary. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Very friendly staff and owner, service was great, no hard sell on the drinks like some restaurants can, food very nice and hot, have been a couple of times now and always great service, limited parking however seems to have lots of local custom who walk up. Will be visiting again.

Meal mediocre for price. No complimentary sauces with starters. I have had better.

We've been here a number of times over the years, our last visit was Sunday 28th August 2022 with our daughter and son in law who were treating us. The staff are lovely and very attentive, the food is always very tasty and of very high quality and really plentiful. The restaurant is a decent size and has a lovely atmosphere. There is nothing to not like!

The best restaurant experience in Hull and the surrounding area. The food is fantastic no matter what I get, the service is best in class and all the staff are welcoming friendly and polite. Almost don't want to recommend so I can get a table when I want one but everyone should go and enjoy!

Had a delivery tonight food was cold and bits missing from order won't be back

3 of us called in on 10/06/2022. Given a warm welcome immediately seated. Waiter very efficient and freindly. Food came promptly, was freshly cooked to order, very well presented, and dammed tasty. Cant fault anything. Highly recommended.

Says on menu open till 11:30pm so rang at 10pm and ordered food. Food arrived with note stuck inside of bag! All you had to say was you were closed instead of taking order but you may want to change your menus and state 10pm on it as clearly it doesn’t. Won’t be ordering again as food was Luke warm and chicken was dry. Over priced and over rated.

Love this restaurant! Food is amazing, and so is the service. All the staff are really friendly and cannot do enough for you. Definitely recommended.

We are avid users or the restaurant especially the takeaway during COVID, that said tonight when our food arrived we were very disappointed. My wife ordered garlic chicken takeaway starter, this had the appearance of and tasted like soggy garlic chicken. The lamb vindaloo was not very spicy and was below their normal standard. We will have to have another sit down meal at the restaurant to see if this is to be the new standard.

The curry's that we ordered were nice but we ordered the king prawn butterfly starter and were disappointed to find that we'd been sent a single prawn for £5. Won't be going back, it was very expensive

We live about a 15 minute walk from this restaurant and use it regularly for takeaway and eat in and we love it . Never disappointed with the food and the staff , highly recommend it.

Great taste. We went with family of 5. We just loved it. Again, of course. :)

We go here once a month with another couple. It's only a 5 minute walk so we are able to have a bottle of wine with our meal. Amin always has this ready for us and makes us feel very special. The food is excellent & the service is friendly & efficient. We really missed our visits during the lockdown.

Been here many of times and tonight I ordered a take away. On every occasion food has been delicious. Definitely would recommend to anyone wanting a curry. Staff are helpful and polite, delivery was also very quick.

My wife and daughter accompanied me for an early evening meal. The food was both exceptionally tasty and well presented. The service was excellent and the atmosphere relaxed, we will certainly be calling again.

This was the first time I had visited since the restaurant changed it’s name so I presume that it has new owners.I visited with a friend on a Friday night and did not pre-book. The car park was full so we had to park on a housing estate but the restaurant wasn’t busy by any means. There were lots of people coming in to pick up take-aways.We sat in the window but it was a bit draughty.We ordered drinks first and then our meals: poppadoms and pickle tray to start followed by lamb Tikka Masalla for me (£12) and Aloo Doom (potato veggie dish) for my friend (£8), both with basmati rice and a garlic naan bread to share. Strangely both dishes were exactly the same colour and consistency but were extremely tasty. Some of my lamb was incredibly tender and some was unfortunately really quite chewy! We both enjoyed our meal nevertheless. We had difficulty attracting anyone’s attention to see the sweet menu. We both chose a pistachio Kofti Indian ice cream to finish.No-one ever came to ask if we wanted more drinks.Again we had difficulty trying to catch the waiter’s eye to get the bill which totalled about £40 with drinks.We will visit again but customer service could be improved.

Went here a couple of years ago (think it was a different name) and it was lovely, we were a large party and service was good. But we went 2 weeks ago and it was awful. We were the 2nd couple in and it took an hour to get food. When it came it was plain and tasteless, the window where we were sat was about to fall in and drafty! And then the bill came to £60! Ridiculous

Lovely family meal. 14 of us and service was spot on.

Made my first visit yesterday and I can honestly say it is the best curry I have had in a long time I will definitely use it again and be saying goodbye to my old curry restaurant

We use this Restaurant as a takeaway as the quality of the food is very good, but we decided to eat in the restaurant recently and were pleased that there were other people in and that there was an atmosphere. The new friendly management have brought a fresh new vibe to the place and breathed life back into the restaurant. The food as usual was excellent.

Awful experience at Dawaat on Saturday 21/12/19 pre-booked table, pointed at & told where to sit by the rude manager (& nowhere near fully booked) poor service & overcharged. Never again. Bring back VOUJON!!

What a lovely friendly restaurant this is its smart and super clean and as for the food it's amazing I loved it everything we had to eat was beautiful the service was second to none timing between each course was just right I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone

Not been in since they changed. The guys were really friendly and helpful. The food was nice and fresh with good meat and all authentic. The sheek kebab was lovely but the smallest portion size ever. The curries were all nice and so was the rice and chips but one of the naan breads wasn’t good (undercooked). The service was a bit slow and we kept having to ask for drinks. All in all though good food, nice people and worth a visit. 8/10 for us due to a couple of things they could easily resolve.

Eaten here a couple of times and also had a few takeaways. Consistently very tasty food and generous portions. The chicken tukri starter and chicken chilli massala are my favourites and my partner loves some of the currys with lamb. Meals are well presented. Good range of drinks & friendly service.

meat was still raw in the middle and the rice tasted off .. soft and alcoholic drinks were all flat and warm .. awful experience

Service was a little slow due to staff shortage which they apologized for. However, the food was excellent and reasonably priced. A nice touch was a free drink at the end of the meal. Altogether a nice meal out for my wife's birthday.

Ate here last week with a friend, 3 people in total. Food was fantastic, large choice and excellent quality and value. Service was 1st class, even though it was busy. The drinks flowed well but the total bill was still only £90! Cannot wait to go back, and cannot recommend more!

Food was as nice as it was as Voujon but the customer service has taken a nose dive. There used to be a bunch of guys who were warm and welcoming but last night It felt like we were an inconvenience. Place was empty on a Saturday night and never used to be.

New owners have maintained standards, still one of the best Indian restaurants in Hull my favourite is the jalfrezi.

Ordered garlic king prawns, lamb tikka, tawa host and chefs fish curry. All excellent quality. Spices etc just right. Recommended.

Always have had a good meal either as a takeaway or in the restaurant - well worth a visit if you like Indian food.

I’ve been meaning to write a review on this restaurant for some time now. We visited early November on a Friday night, I’d been given good reviews from friends and family so was looking forward to eating there. The restaurant itself is impeccable,as are the staff, a really good choice of food and at reasonable prices. I most definitely will frequent this establishment in the future, so yes a big thumbs up, highly recommend.

Every weekend enjoy take away or sit in amazing food and staff so pleasant They know my partner well and are very accomadating.
