My daughter and I were heading back to the M6 after a weekend away and drove past the tea room, early cold Dec morning. I stopped to buy a takeaway coffee and we stayed for the best full English breakfast . Lovely food, friendly staff, Illy coffee and such a cozy atmosphere with the log burner. I’d highly recommend, will be back .😊

We stumbled upon this cute little team room after taking a wrong turn from our hotel in Kirby Lonsdale. We were able to park right by this cosy place. We received a very warm welcome from the lady as we came in and my eyes were immediately drawn to a warm, glowing inglenook set in a stone fire place. This quintessential English tea room is so charming and inviting. Offering many homemade meals, snacks and desserts that would satisfy everyone. The leek and potato soup was particularly nice on this cold winters day. The scones are huge and beautifully accompanied by jam and clotted cream. I had a thick ham sandwich served with a lovely varied salad. In the store it’s self is a plethora of gifts to browse and a selection of ice creams. I thought the little post office counter inside was such a nice community feel. I’d happily return and would highly recommend the hospitality and wonderful food. We thoroughly enjoy it!

We were a party of ten for lunch and were booked to sit upstairs. One of our party could not manage to climb upstairs and the staff were amazing. What a lovely spot, like something out of an Enid Blyton story, tiny little cottage tea room-cum-post office-cum-card shop-cum-ice cream shop! Seated on a little polka dot clad table, i had the jacket with prawns, well put together marie-rose accompanied by a fairly extensive side salad with a balsamic dressing. My wife had a cheese toastie. Basics done well. This place knows their clientele and looks after them well, on a major cycle route we saw cyclists bikes being tended to and families getting ice creams in our brief visit. Will come again, lovely place to stop.

We arrived in Hornby village Sunday morning. It was still light rain and we were waiting for the weather to improve before we went on to the castle open day. What better way than to have a cup of tea while you are waiting for that change? We had noticed the post office and tea room as we came into the village and so we went there. The Cath Kitson waxed table cloths and eclectic mix of china tea cups and the log burner glowing all gave the tea room a welcoming ambience. We ordered tea and were tempted by the fresh blueberry scones which had just come out of the oven. They were served simply with some clotted cream. Absolutely delicious and it was a good cup of tea too. Well, it always tastes better out of china. We enjoyed it so much, we went back for a late lunch after we had walked round the castle gardens. We had fresh home made soup with bread, cheesy crumpets with red onion chutney and earl grey tea cake that was so moist. The post office tea room has a gem of a baker there and probably could win the bake off hands down.

I really enjoyed my visit to the tea rooms and post office, and the novelty factor of leaving my letters behind the counter for posting as I placed my order for cheese on toast and cake. The surroundings are full of character, the ladies working there were really pleasant, and there are plenty of unusual gifts and cards for sale too. This isn't the mostly orderly and regimented of cafes, but then I think that is its charm. If you want Patisserie Valerie you will be disappointed. But for a genuine, step back in time, village experience, I think this ticked all of the boxes very pleasantly.

My quiche was absolutely amazing - pastry so short it just melted in the mouth, and the filling included pieces of really delicious locally-made sausages. The cake was every bit as good - moist, full of lemon flavour, and VERY fresh! It was all washed down with a lovely cuppa (OBVIOUSLY Yorkshire Tea!!) - to be honest, we didn't want to leave! What can I say but wow! This is my third visit (one of my visits was with the old owners) and my friend's 2nd visit and for both of us we can 100 per cent say it's great apartment with with fabulous owners Anthea and Debbie with great location for a base and for wray's scarecrow festival and the caton's gala, they are so friendly and nice have good local knowledge and so helpful like we needed to stay a extra night at last minute and that was no problem for them We can't wait to come back.(if I had my choice and way we would be bookings for the Caron gala but I might just have to settle for September/October time) Tea rooms down stairs is so handy if you want to pop downstairs for a cappuccino or latte or a ice cream thief locally sourced ice cream is delicious we tried strawberry, blackcurrent cheesecake, apple crumble and lemon meringue all very tasty. Plus the smells of home made soup and counter full of homemade cakes are also to die for also seems to have a stable flow of visitors open on Sundays too. Has the local post office there too which is handy for sending postcards and getting cash out. Since our last visit they had changed the table to a bigger one which made dinning easier if more than 4. They also add a little note with info like with the wifi code and heating details and numbers and a menu if you wanted to order things from downstairs. Apartment was clean and fabulous as usual I still can believe how soft the towels are. The blankets on sofa are really soft to cuddle up in whilst watching a film/tv which came In handy on this visit for myself lol. Garden is really sweet sat outside a couple of times very private nice nice sunny area if weather is good with table and chairs.steps going up thou to grass area but not steep my best 4 legged friend who came with us loved the garden very secure and safe for dogs or kids. Had a neighbour's cat came to say hello in the garden too.Plus friend and I are fans of Barton grange garden centre butchers we normally buy stuff to eat whilst we holiday and have a big bag of frozen meat to go home with us too, however Anthea asked if we had tried the one in the Village -Hornby butchers which was just across the bridge I have to say wow it was impressive the sausage rolls was nice and pork pies we brought some for our picnic. We visited the scarecrows and falls at ingleton shame that the outside pool there doesn't open until end of may whilst visiting hence this being a good base. Parking right outside isn't a problem but there is plenty of parking just across the street if needed be. We visited the local restaurant in Hornby too.We would have loved to have stayed longer but unfortunately both of us had work☹️ however we can't wait to book and come back.

Due to the fact that he was full to capacity he bought some scones to take with us to our holiday apartment. I had a tuna toasty which was really good. We also had a pot of really good tea. The tea room was about to be refurbished the next day but even under all that stress the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. We will be back next week to check out the new tea room. I visited/Stayed here a few years ago but wow what a difference, it has since changed hands since last time I came here. The new owners are so helpful and delightful to speak to and nothing is a problem for them plus it's nice seeing a mum and daughter working together. The upstairs apartment is still the same layout with garden outside as before but have been updated but the added bonus is you can now bring your pet with you which is great and they now provide wifi which is great, only small sigh is no open fire no more however the replacement fire is just as good.Plus they provide a little tray Of coffee and tea and shortbread and sauces. You can access the upstairs apartment through two different accesses points which is good plus hand over times are pretty flexible. plus if you rent the apartment you get a slight discount on food in the tea rooms which is nice but after smelly all the heavenly smells you can't resist going downstairs to try the food and tea and coffee. The fresh cakes and food just smells heaven plus knowing all the food is locally sourced is good plus you can taste it in quality of food too. I was very sad after tasting breakfast the day before which was 100% great and yummy and that I not staying longer to taste onion chutney that they were making on my last day there it smelt lovely and again using local food. There are a few places to park right outside the tea rooms and apartment which is great if full there is a good size car park right opposite that is free with a children park next to it if you do have children with you plus a local swimming pool which is about 5 mins walk. The post office offers quickness for any postcards you do want to send and yet again watched Anthea the owner helping a man work out the best posting options for a man his parcel. Good range of cards and books and maps for sale and some local food items. Plus you can get dry cleaning done if needs be through the tea rooms and post office. Such a nice little gem and good friendly staff opening hours are good. I have already enquired to stay again I can only see this place getting busier and busier.

We called in to the tea rooms today as we had heard there were new owners. We are so pleased we did!! The place is immaculately clean and there is obvious attention to detail. We had a delicious scone with home made jam and a lovely pot of tea. The people next to us were served what looked like a really nice salad so I imagine the meals are great too. I'll try next time! We sat next to a lovely stove that was so cosy. You can buy home made jams and other things in the shop as well as there being a Post office with the usual services, cards to buy and so on. There is also a separate section away from the Post Office so if you want a quieter area for your tea that is ideal. We understand this will have easy chairs and maybe a small sofa in later on. We spoke to the new owners who were very friendly and welcoming. They explained some of their plans (they have only been there a couple of days), so we will definitely look forward to the refurbishments they are making, and in the summer they are planning to have tables outside in the garden which will be lovely. We will definitely be back as its a perfect place to stop off and is in such a lovely, quaint village with the River Lune running through and some interesting buildings. My wife very politely asked the question, "NO WE DON'T" in a very abrupt and aggressive tone was the answer. It didn't bother us the fact they didn't allow dogs as we often have this situation and are more than happy to try elsewhere. What did really make us angry was the attitude of this woman. How dare she speak to us in such a rude and unfriendly manner. We certainly won't be going to this establishment ever again. Also is there an explanation as to why two large Welsh flags are attached to the outside wall of the establishment?

Walking in the area with my daughter and grandson, we popped into the Post Office and Tea Rooms for a light lunch. I had a toasted tea cake with a large coffee, my daughter chose two toasted crumpets with a tea and my grandson had the small 'all day breakfast' and this included a cup of tea. Having ordered at the counter we waited while the items were toasted and the breakfast cooked. They were brought to us by a very pleasant gentleman and when we asked for an extra butter, three more were handed to us. Everything was just perfect. Is it a Post Office or is it a Tea Room - does it really matter, it is very quaint and worth a visit.

Stopped here just to use the post office. Very friendly and helpful. Like stepping back in time. From Londons mega stores into a typical family based village retreat.

Lady who served me at the post office was rather unfriendly and charged me the more expensive price of a 'small parcel' (2.85) when I could see that my item would easily fit in the slot as a 'large letter' (1.20)- as silly as it sounds i felt ripped off and even tempted to argue and take it to another post office.

We stayed at the apartment above the tea rooms for two nights in June. It was a nice place to stay in a lovely little village. The apartment is very big and well kitted out.Breakfast at the tearooms was also very nice.

Have been several times but yesterday was a disaster. Arrived 11.30 and 2nd in the queue to be served however staff chose to ignore me and started to ask a bunch of cyclists sat behind what they wanted. If that was not bad enough more cyclists came into the tea room and once again I was ignored. Mentioned to a member of staff who half heartedly said she could get our order but by then the scones I had my eye on had been given to, you guessed it, the cyclists. Obviously our custom was not wanted. I cannot forget how rude the person serving was, nor ignore the fact the cyclists thought they deserved special treatment. Will not go again these people do not deserve to have a business if this is how they treat people who have on many previous occasions given them custom.

I drive through Hornby at 5.30am every morning and back again at 5.30pm in the afternoon 5 times a week and I have noticed the Post Office tea rooms and often wondered what it was like.A friend who lives in Ingleton recommend the place so today we decided to investigate.Parking was easy and there was a children's treasure hunt going on so lots of kids about with their parents and there must have been a clue in the tea rooms as there seemed to be a lot of the little ones coming in and out and probably a good excuse to get the parents to by a ice cream. As for the service yes the previous comments about the staff being rude, probably not intended I think it just was the way the assistant expressed herself, maybe not used to interacting as she was a little brusque when she said there was no baggets until Mrs Mason the owner jumped in and offered a bun instead which was fine and I was not upset.Everybody reacts differentlyI had baked potato with tuna with salad which was very enjoyable. Drinks were fine Earl Grey tea and a large latte with skimmed milk.No complaints there. All in all a pleasant experience to be recommended. Also lovely range of home bakery.

We are usually driving through this beautiful little village but one day decided to stop off and visit the tea rooms. The shop is very pretty from the outside, however, once inside, the place is 'tired' and somewhat unwelcoming. It seems to be clean and tidy but we felt that we were a nuisance to the staff by entering and taking a seat. We decided not to upset the staff too much by staying so we ordered bacon and sausage sandwiches to take out. The food was very pleasant and welcome on a cold windy day during the storms, but it was spoilt by us having to sit in the car to eat it. A pot of tea in cafe would have been good. We will possibly try again sometime, maybe when the weather is better and the staff are happier :)

After driving past the Post Office and Tea Rooms for years and saying we must try it today was the day. To be honest it was at best poor and at worse awful. Rooms are not clean and very cold. Food was poor and overpriced. So the message is head into Lancaster rather than go here. Very disappointed. We shall drive past next time.

After a trip to Morecambe, we decided to take a scenic route home, looking for somewhere to stop for lunch. It was Valentines day, so expected to end up in a pub. We saw signs for Hornby Tea Rooms, but didn't know where they were. We ended up driving into Hornby, and spotted the tea room with Union Jacks outside. We parked over the road and decided to take a look. It was a little confusing, as it felt like we were just walking into the shop. There were plenty of tables, some to the left as you went in and some to the right, in the actual Post office. We sat in the shop and ordered a pot of tea and some sandwiches. The food was prepared there, where you could see one lady chopping the salad. We got a lovely big pot of tea, with plenty of milk. The food was excellent, loved the caramelized red onions in with my ham. We then decided to have pudding, but just to get one to share, we are glad we did! The portion of jam sponge was huge and had lovely hot custard on top.We can't fault this place, it was wonderful. Great personalised service, which included a top up of our tea pot after we ordered pudding.

We popped in for a snack , I was not taken by the decor and tidiness of the tea room, we ordered tea and a cake , which was ok. The service was ok, but the friendliness left a lot to be desired.

The food was okay and the staff attentive but the ambience of the bistro was so stale, lacked ambience and was just really quite strange. It felt like being in an empty conference room. Not for us and we won't be returning
