I visit hoopers to get a present for my mums 50th birthday which followed by lunch in the restaurant. I was unsure what to have to eat when a lovely lady who worked there spoke me through the menu. She advised me what the best meal would be once I explained to her what I liked: we then had a conversation and she was honestly so genuine, I then spoke about my nephews who goes to school in the area, which the then mentioned her little boys go to the same school! My experience would not be the same without her! Well done.

Absolutely DISGUSTING service! OK we were aware that drinks would stop being served after 1600hrs, however we were not aware that we would be virtually thrown out after 1600hrs even if we hadn't finished our drinks. Being told to "drink up" is not something I personally don't take lightly. After all the store didn't close until 1700hrs. We paid for our drinks and therefore expect some customer respect and be allowed to drink them in our own time. Not to be "shoved off" because the staff want to go home early! If your not prepared to be polite and respectful to the customers either get some new staff or just shut the place down!

Caught up with friends in this lovely store. Staff great, setting great but food dear for what you get. Wasn't that busy and most just seemed to be having a coffee - not many eating - if prices were a little less I reckon more would because the food is nice. Counter for lunchtime looked very depleted.

Food average. I would have thought for £6.95 you would be served 2 slices of toast. No childrens drink cartons available. You would have thought they would have adequate supplies, being half term.

Fine. I nostalgic re-visit as it had been a favourite eating place for a relative. They couldn't have been more helpful with the seating as it was mid-pandemic timing. The food was as good as ever. I do like having an individual quiche, rather than a slice of a large one. It just seems better value. We had a very pleasant time.

Popped in as I needed to make a call and didn't want any interference. Absolutely ideal as although busy, the restaurant is spacious with a fairly high ceiling. Really clean and well laid out, a bit lacking in atmosphere but that suited me on this occasion. Polite, well dressed staff; I had a coffee and a piece of Rocky Road. The coffee was nice and hot and the cake put me on for quite a while afterwards. Reasonably priced too. As I would expect from Hoopers, this place is quite refined and I would call in again when shopping at the store.

While in Wilmslow we called for lunch. The queue to order food and purchase drinks and cakes is always slow. The Restaurant area is always clean and tables are cleared and cleaned promptly. My husband chose the tuna melt panini and I chose the ham and cheese panini which were served with a small limp side salad. We also had a pot of tea, scone and slice of coffee cake. Our food was nice and we enjoyed our lunch.

I shop regularly at Hoopers but repeatedly make the mistake of revisiting their Cafe Zest because it is convenient, especially when raining outside. The staff in the restaurant are simply unable to make a decent latte or cappuccino, despite having what looks like a very sophisticated coffee machine. it is wishful washy thin with limp froth. Management please re-train them correctly. They don’t have a clue! Also the toasted tea cakes we just ate were awful. If we hadn’t been so hungry we’d have left them. £9 for a load of rubbish. The secret of a great cup of coffee. Get the most fragrant coffee beans you can get your hands on, search the market for the most passionate, best barista around, bribe them to come and work for you, be obsessive about cleaning your machine, make the coffee strong enough, (we are not living in the 1950s thank god) and make sure it's hot enough.

Some very good bargains to be had, When we arrived in the restaurant it was rather full and people queuing to be served, rather slow process. Ordered food and drinks and found a table and then having finished our drinks, had to wait about 15 minutes for our food, Generally the food was good bit we had to send the chips back as they were hard and inedible. Decided to have a late lunch here yesterday after looking at the sale that we couldn't afford. The restaurant wasn't too busy. There were numerous staff behind the counter at least three doing nothing but chatting. When my friend asked what the soup was one member of staff was particularly rude very abrupt and rather caustic when she was asked if there was a vegetarian option answering with a very curt NO!!. The tables were being cleared very slowly which was surprising as there were so many staff doing nothing. Our food took ages to arrive but I have to admit it was very nice. We had to ask for our table to be cleared before we ate. The staff seemed to think it was a chore to smile and be pleasant. Overall they made me think that because I wasn't wearing a 5 carat diamond ring, carrying a designer handbag and wearing designer clothes I was not really worth their courtesy. Sorry but the food was good but the staff were unfriendly and rude.

I then asked at the counter how long the food would be, only to be told that the five bean chilli had gone off so the cook could not sever it. I was then offered soup. I asked why you have to wait so long to be served , the waitress said that it was a 25 minute wait, which I was not told on ordering my food., As i now only had 15 minutes to get back to my car I would not have had time to eat any thing that they offered .

We just wanted a quick sandwich and thought the coffee shop in Hoopers Department Store would be good, it was okay but could have been better! The sandwiches were pre prepared and covered with cling film, this would have been fine if the side salad hadn't been dressed, all the liquid soaked into the bread, possibly because all the plates were piled on top of each other! The florentine we shared after the sandwich, on the surface looked nice but it was burnt and covered with chocolate! I am sure we made a bad choice, many people in this restaurant seemed to be enjoying their meals!

It is a number of years since I last visited Wilmslow, but whenever I do, I always head for the Restaurant on the top floor of Hoopers for my morning coffee. As you might expect over such a period of absence things change. The decor and layout has been altered and whilst I still think I prefered it before, the new look has a clean, light and airy feel and there is plenty of seating, which is just as well because it is a popular place with the locals. There appeared to be plenty of staff behind the servery, all of whom seemed pleasant and attentive, but somehow there was a general lethargy; lack of speed and efficiency. Whilst the queue waiting to be served was not that long it seemed to take ages to place my order and be delivered. I only had coffees and cakes for our party, but the food being served did look appetizing. It is not the cheapest place in Wilmslow, and if the service good be sharpened up, I would still revisit.

The décor of this restaurant is really appealing which is really good for a store restaurant. I chose a Goats Cheese and Beetroot salad which was absolutely delicious and a change from my normal Rarebit, which is equally as good. Although the initial service at the counter is slow - plenty of people behind the counter but only one taking food orders - the young waitress on the shop floor was really helpful and cleaned our table when asked and went to get me salad dressings. A friend and I were in Wilmslow for the day and as we knew we would be eating early evening, we only wanted a snack lunch so decided to use Hoopers' restaurant. It was about 1.30 so we hoped the majority of the lunch trade rush would have dissipated by now. The decor is lovely and the refurbishment has really freshened up the whole area. The food was good quality but my main issue would be the attitude of the staff. Not surly, please don't get me wrong, but they seemed to have little sense of speed. There were empty tables but nobody seemed to be clearing dirty plates and my friend asked for our table to be wiped (I had already moved the empty plates onto another table whilst she was ordering). You seem to have to order drinks first and there were two people doing this but the hot food order was only being taken by one person and he was also in charge of the till, hence quite a queue forming around me.If I am honest, this review would be more of a 3.5 than a 4.

She was not apologetic and just asked would I like something else, as we were on our way home I clearly did not want anything else, so she just sauntered off. Needless to say there were very few people in the cafe, word must have got around. Although we could not be described as regulars, we always enjoyed coming here for an occasional sandwich on a Saturday and were excited when we heard that the restaurant was being refurbished. We have been 4 or 5 times since and each time have been very disappointed. In the past sandwiches, of which there used to be a much wider choice, were made to order. The expectation now is that you take the ready made sandwich from the cooled display so that what you have is a very cold and therefore unappetising sandwich and which is by definition not what I would call fresh. On the last two occasions we have refused those on offer and asked to have them freshly made which has been done but under undisguised great sufferance. The serving staff have never been the most welcoming but this seems more pronounced now in the new set up - maybe they dislike it too. It is like service used to be in the seventies- take it or leave it attitude and barely a smile.Unless we hear of changes made we won't be visiting again. They have lots of competition and need to realise they no longer have their once captive clientele.

Unfortunately it wasn't the usual lovingly made kind, artisan doorstep bread smothered in the most delicious recipe of melted cheese, whole grain mustard and a secret ingredient, that he is used to and loves, but a piece of sliced bread toast with a bit of cheese on it!!!! It has certainly worked, ceiling to floor Windows, more light, new furnishings and an extended menu.. Quality of breakfast excellent, scones are magnificent, certainly the best in town, and the atmosphere has improved dramatically. What still needs attention is the pace of the servers. It is slow as stated in other reviews, but very polite and the staff are pleasant. The experience of going to Hoopers is not a snatch and dash self service one, it is a more relaxed experience so be prepared for that and enjoy. One thing they do need to correct is the habit of serving you your drinks whilst your breakfast is freshly prepared. All very well but the 10 mins it takes for the breakfast to arrive means the drinks have been finished, you should be offered a free top up, USA style, if purchasing food. Think about it management, it would become a great u s p for the location. All things equal it is now a much better destination for breakfast or an afternoon or mid morning hot scone. I haven't been for lunch yet so can not comment on the lunch servers. Improve the service and offer top ups and you have a five star product. Well done Hoopers

I have been here many times and Hoopers restaurant has never been anything more than a quick 'pit stop' when out shopping. However, today worse than before as the service has gone from slow to snails pace. The offerings are just average and take forever to be made or delivered to table. The new decor is already looking shabby with stains of the green material seating and the tables are placed so that customers bang their heads on the overhead hanging lights. It is now time to find a new venture when out shopping in the area.

The newly refurbished restaurant is now open for business but seems to lack the atmosphere of the old one and the counter display is not as attractive as the old one. That said, the new window elevation is a distinct improvement.. The cooked meals at lunch time are quite good and two types of hot quiche are available. In the till area, there seems to be one particular sour-faced individual who acts like an automaton with the same amount of inbuilt humanity who could gain much from a course of retraining into customer rapport.

The newly refurbished restaurant is airy, modern and relaxed with comfortable seating.Great views from the huge picture window, which lets in lots of natural light. The food was freshly cooked, attractively presented and very good value for money. My husband particularly enjoyed his ham, eggs and chips.

Recently renovated the restaurant is bright and sunny with plenty of comfortable seating. The food is not for those in a great hurry, but when it comes it is of very good quality. The chips and the curly fries are amazing. Also good selection of scrummy cakes. A good choice for a leisurely lunch, would be superb if they speeded up a bit.

My aunt and I always go to Hoopers for lunch when in Wilmslow, but the refurbishment is a major step backwards - the new high ceiling and windows create acoustics that ruin any attempt to enjoy a quiet lunch. My order was not forwarded to the kitchen and when I questioned why I was waiting so long I was merely told 'There is a wait.' I was then asked to produce my receipt to 'prove' I had indeed ordered lunch - when I did this, the waitress interpreted it as my aunt's receipt and started to argue with me! Just awful. By the time I received my sandwich I was really disappointed and annoyed. We shan't be returning.

Consistently good food and service - that has always been my experience at this special restaurant. Since the re-fit I have been unable to contain my disappointment, after being served lukewarm quiche and below average coffee, also to be told that their excellent toasted sandwiches were no longer on the menu. Even the service was not up to the previous high standard. A great pity that this is the price to pay for upgrading the restaurant. Improvements will be needed to entice me back.

Nice enough environment but I can't beleive how long to took to get a cup of tea. I waited in line for about 15 minutes!I suggest someone from Hoopers pops into Costa across the road to see how they run a drinks service!

Love Hoopers but the coffee the lady made was awful! Save your money and go to one of the other coffee shops in Wilmslow.

As a regular at Hoopers restaurant, I can confirm it was very much in need of a refurb. It is just such a shame that having created a much nicer, brighter and more contemporary restaurant, the menu has been over hauled and many favourites have disappeared or been overpriced. With so many great places to eat in Wilmslow, the Hoopers cafe needed to continue to offer fantastic value for money lunches to bring customers in to the shop, so they then buy other goods there. In my opinion, the restaurant at John Lewis is much better now, and I am sure Hoopers will lose customers to them, as they also have free on site parking, which is a big consideration for many people.

I was expecting better things after the refit but the food was awful and I never want to go back. How they can spend all this money doing the place up but getting the food wrong is beyond me. They should have left it as it was.

Went with my wife to try breakfast in the newly refurbished restaurant. The decor, layout and service were very good but the breakfast menu underwhelming. Coffee was lovely and the poached eggs OK, BUT there was no fresh orange juice and no croissants/petit pains - basic breakfast ingredients these days. I expressed my disappointment to the senior member of staff on duty and asked her to pass on my criticisms. It was a real disappointment and a missed opportunity for management to establish a business breakfast venue in Wilmslow Better get your act together Hoopers - there are plenty other breakfaast venues in town!

I visited this great restaurant whilst on a shopping trip at the store with friends. The food we ordered was cooked well and served by very courteous staff with a nice smile. We didn't need to wait very long before we were served and the whole restaurant was spotlessly clean which was nice to see.I'm very pleased this was a good experience as always because I had urged our friends to come with us and we were not disappointedI strongly recommend a visit here you will be pleased

We went yesterday to try the newly opened restaurant. it was very disappointing. we had to wait over 30 mins for our food. After 20 mins of waiting a lady came o say they run out of the ham. The panini was hardly toasted. This lady, perhaps the manageress should have offered us free drinks for the extra wait. Many were complaining and did not receive what they ordered.

After doing the rounds shopping in the store, this is a clean and well managed little coffee shop, since the upgrades it has improved further and always serving good food and beverages to the whole family. Well done ladies, keep it up

Hoopers is a lovely store &I was surprised the cafe wasn't as special. Quite a few tables needed clearing & wiping. The seating area furtherest away from the food queue was dark & dingy. Had a tasteless omelet. The choice of food on the menu looked like it hadn't been updated in years, Smiling helpful staff improved the experiemce though not enough to warrant a return visit. Disappointed.

We turned up and our booking had been done for the wrong day, completely our fault! There was 7 of us but Chloe was great helping us to find a table for the 7 of us in the bar area which we were fine with as the bar and restaurant were really busy, so we were very lucky. We had great bar service from Jack, who pulls a good pint. Food was lovely and enjoyed by all, will definitely be coming again. Thanks

This is one of the best restaurants we have visited. The personnel can’t do enough for you especially Pan and Angie. We have been here 3 months in a row and each time Pam and Angie have been superb ambassadors for the hotel

We attended the festival of transport in Audlem and called in for breakfast at the Bridge Inn. The food was excellent, big portions and very good value with coffee or tea refills. The staff were very attentive and friendly and we will definitely go back again when we are in the area.

We were recently introduced to lite delights! It is a great Deliveroo option, portions are a good size, speedy delivery and has some healthy options too. Burritos, salad boxes and chilli beef nachos are some of our recommendations. Worth a go!
