Visited this restaurant tonight from my sister's seventh birthday.. not sure where to start firstly we will start with the toilets was overflowing and sewage all over the floor with no light in the women's wc either.. after complaining they told us that a emergency plumber was on their way but continued to trade.. but service was terrible waited over two hours for our main course which due to the situation in the toilet areas downstairs I had lost my appetite and decided I was not going to eat a single thing from the premises unfortunately it ruined our evening and they agreed it was wrong and agreed it shouldn't happen so definitely will never return to this filthy rotten place!! don't expect to have sewage and urine on the floor which I have a video of should they contest this review stay well clear as for service most probably the worst restaurant I've ever visited in my entire life..

Once again Hons comes up trumps. 4th visit now I think. Called late for a table on a Friday, ko worries about getting in. The mixed starters for 2 was plentiful, fresh and tasty. Then both had main. The fried fish with spring onion and ginger was filling with perfect flavouring. Wouldn't look out of place in any restaurant in Chinatown All in all, a very good value for money evening. First in the restaurant at 6pm. The 3 of us ordered chicken satays. Food turned up within 3 minutes !!! Straight out of microwave. Tough and chewy to eat. Dreadful none of us ate the starter. Ordered 3 chicken curries and all three of us had diarrhoea in the morning. Worst food we’ve ever eaten.

I used to enjoy the food here, but tonight it was very poor. The chicken in yellow bean sauce was VERY sweet and the mushroom chop suey was swimming in a very sweet sauce. Why was there sauce on the chop suey and why was sugar added to these dishes? Diabetics keep away! Not enjoyable.

Lovely Chinese, hits the spot and the food is always lovely x usually end up taking food home as way to much. Reasonable price

Glad we booked as Hons was extremely busy on Saturday night. Seated bang on time!! Ordered the mixed starters for two and a couple of other bits, chow mein and sizzling beef. Duck pancakes were banging. Now we're a couple of big lads who like their dinner but we struggled to finish everything. Quality of food was top notch. Quality of service was top notch even with only three staff on. Value for money was very good for the amount of food and drinks. Would definitely go again

We recently had a takeaway from here on a Sunday night and was very disappointed. The chicken chow mein had very little flavour. Some of the satay chicken was tough and chewy. The pancake roll was dripping in oil and tasted disgusting! The prawn crackers were nice. The previous time we tried Hons the food was excellent. Sadly based on what we had this time we thought the food had really gone downhill.

First time visiting this local restaurant I had heard lots of good things. We were not disappointed absolutely lovely food and excellent service not rushed at all. Will definitely be coming back soon!

Returned after many years (nolonger local) food as great as ever, especially the chicken satay! We had a set meal for two which was a selection of starters, then duck pancakes and followed by 2 main meals and rice and noodles. Staff were attentive throughout the visit, hopefully not as long until my next visit.

Wednesday evening meal with friends and the service was dreadful. The food portions were overlarge and my meal was greasy. I had an order of beansprouts and a pork chowmein containing very little pork. My friend had the chicken satay starter, which was enough for a main meal and was very good.

Been coming here since I was little, and can say the standard of food has been superior the whole time. The mixed starters is always fantastic, crispy duck and pancakes is amazing. We then had noodles, rice, king prawn sweet and sour, beef in black been and chicken in black bean. Everything so delicious. King Prawns my absolute favourite - delicious sauce, the batter so light and crispy. Need to make a conscious effort to come more often.

Went for my son’s 18th birthday. Staff were attentive, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Food was amazing. We had the best evening out in ages.

Went out for family meal on Saturday night, Restaurant was busy and very noisy with customers wanting to use takeaway service. Not enough staff to cover those sitting in at tables and those calling to order takeaway and picking it up. Food has gone downhill drastically and portions have gotten smaller, maybe this was a good thing as 3 of the main meals ordered were totally inedible due to the amount of Chillies 🌶 in them. No flavour just burn your mouth off with the chilli heat. The service was awful and very slow. Food very expensive considering the poor quality and the small portions. This used to be a great restaurant with wonderful food, service and a great ambience, ideal for a nice or even special meal out, not anymore. Left the restaurant on Saturday evening feeling disappointed, feeling as if I had been robbed and sadly many of us still hungry due to small portions and due to some of the food being inedible

Looks good from the outside, nice menu, portions rather small and £6 for 2 large diet cokes is rather steep, you don't pay that for central London Restaurants. wanted to go for ages , now i have been wont be going back , so many more better places to eat

I booked a table 2 week's in advance to celebrate my husband's birthday. The table was booked for 7.30pm and we arrived on time. All the tables were full and so we waited at the bar along with another couple who had already been waiting for half an hour. After waiting for almost half an hour we spoke to the manager and asked why we were having to wait so long when we had booked a table in advance to which he replied as soon as a table becomes available I will sit you down but the other couple were first so we could see that we were going to have to wait a lot longer. They are just giving tables to any one that walks in and not even booked. I know they don't want to turn away business after being closed all through lockdown but surely there reputation is just as important. The same thing happened to my daughter and her friends a few weeks prior so it seems to be an on going thing. We ended up walking out feeling very let down and disappointed as we were so looking forward to having a meal there again. The manager really needs to sort his booking system out as we will not be returning until then. We went on to Tarana Indian restaurant just along the road and had a wonderful meal there where the service was brilliant.

after being turned away from another takeaway in rainham because they wouldnt accept a card payment we went to hons which was just opening. our family have been there many times for a sit down meal and it really is the best! i went in and ordered a takeaway meal and explained to the manager that i would wait in the car as i was on a double yellow .he said no problem .sit in the car and i will bring it out.within minutes there he was and the meal was terrific ! they really do go out of there way to please .will always use for takeaways in future.

Hon’s has always been a favourite of mine, one of the best restaurants around. Not any more, I was appalled at how bad the food was, I have had far better take away food than this. Among other dishes, I ordered the special chowmein, I called the waiter over and asked him how this was different to the standard chowmein, he lifted my fork to point out the 3mm sized pieces of meat which gave it “special” status. I have had special elsewhere and it is loaded with king prawns, squid etc, not here, not anymore.Sad.I won’t be returning.

Definitely not as good as it used to be. I have always recommended Hons but the food was nothing special and I won’t be recommending them again. Has it been taken over by new people I wonder? It was always somewhere to go to for a special event, but not anymore. Food OK but my favourite was always their seaweed, this visit it was awful.

I had heard good things about this place. But we ate on a Sunday lunch time and what a disappointment. Food was just average. Waiter was scruffy, un-ironed shirt and rushed off his feet. No conversation and no ambiance. To top it off it was well overpriced for standard of food! Won’t be returning in a hurry!

Hadn’t been for ages , there were not many customers mid week but the service and quality of the food was good.

The restaurant was very busy the food wasn't too bad but wasn't great, the night was spoiled by the bad service, it was really slow we had a long wait for drinks,they cramed too many people in and didn't have enough staff to cover.the gents toilets were disgusting the toilet wasn't working and had notice on door inside, but no one sorted the toilet out,this was my first time to visit this restaurant not sure if I would go again.

We started using Hon's again for takeaways after they regained their 5 star hygiene rating back in 2017. After having several disappointing Chinese takeaways from other establishments in Rainham we recently tried Hons again. In our opinion the flavour and quality is far better than any other Chinese takeaways in Rainham that we have tried. The Satay skewers are huge and packed full of flavour. The ribs were also superb with plenty of meat on the bone. In our opinion although this may not be the cheapest it is the best quality Chinese takeaway restaurant in Rainham.

We were invited by friends to Hons whch used to be a great favourite of ours. We arrived for our table just before 8.00 (booked over a month ahead) to be told the table wasn't ready. Yet within 15 minutes of us arriving they managed to seat two other tables of 7 & 8 people. We asked why they had been seated before us and their explanation was that they didn't have any other large enough tables and if they had put us on their tables they wouldn't have been able to accommodate them. We were advised by Steve that management had booked too many people in. When we later asked another member of staff how much longer our table would be we were told the group there were still drinking coffee and they didn't know how much longer they would be (they had been at the table for well over 2 hours already). We asked if they could be requested to vacate the table by explaining that it was booked for another party but were told that couldn't be done. When we asked why we were told we would have to speak to the manager - and she pointed to Steve!

We booked a table for four months ago, then two hours before we were to eat we went to the restaurant to make sure the table booking was ok. We were told yes, however when we arrived at our allotted time we were told no table was available!!!

Visited as a party of 8 (4 adults, 4 children). We went on a Monday evening at around 17:30 so the place was very quiet. Service was excellent and the food really nice and filling. We didnt end up eating too much in the end, had a mixed starter for 7 and then a whole duck. We all found the food to be tasty and everyone was pleased.

Perfect for couples and families, food is cooked fresh and plenty of variety, if having the all you can eat.. go there hungry!

We came here whilst in Kent on business. This was a reccommendation from a colleague. We ordered a set meal for three. All was good, mixed starters, then into a beef dish, prawns and chilli and some other things such as rice, noodles etc. In particular I remember the duck pancakes, they were delicious.

Went for a large(ish) family meal. Were a bit crammed in and right next to the door where food is brought out so not a lot of room to get past etc. Food was nice and tasty and can't argue with portions etc but it was rather hard to get drinks etc in between them bringing food out as you rarely saw a waiter. A couple more staff on the very busy shifts (this was a Friday evening) would probably make this a very enjoyable place to go.

visited Hons several times and always been happy with it. But recently we returned and was quite disappointed. The restaurant was very busy with diners and take aways. There were only 2 serving so had to wait a while to get served. When the starter came out it was nice like always Same with the mains. When the bill came out we were shocked as we didn’t drink a lot and had water the prices have gone up a lot.

It had been some years since I had visited Hons due mostly to mixed experiences and hearing conflicting reviews. So when invited out to dinner I had some reservations.

Always like this Chinese , it’s been going a long while , very friendly staff , attentive, had the set menu three courses always have to have a bag to take the rest away as can never finish it all particularly enjoyed the lamb instead of the duck pancakes , sizzling beef yum very good

Mr Hon runs a first class restaurant with great service and competitive pricing. We come here regularly with our son in law and daughter, it's just the best chinese for miles.

We have visited Hons many times, the service is great, its very hard to get a table here in the weekends and if you havent booked you have to wait for a bit, thats why its so popular. The food choices are great and varied

Medway has a lot of good restaurants, but what it really lacks is a good Chinese. Confucious used to be really good but is now pretty awful.

We visited as a group of 7, service was quick even thought the restaurant was busy, food was hot and delicious, will definitely be visiting again soon.

Have been visiting Hons for over 10 years and spent many a happy evening here. The hor d'oeuvres are the best I've tasted. The manager is very welcoming and accommodating. We like to take our time over our meal and we never feel rushed. Looking forward to our next visit.

Food was fantastic, the Mrs rosé spritzer was a tad weak but my JDs were fine. Much quieter in there than I expected. Not the cheapest Chinese you'll ever go out for but it was tasty so no complaints.

A very nice evening with friends, good friendly service, very large menu choice, starter was a shared buffet style, good choice, very tasty enjoyed by all. Mains was delicious, we had a few dishes and shared, just the right quantity thanks to a helpful waitress....

Hons has always had a good reputation in the past and it seems it has stayed in the past. Its décor is tired and dated and the food is much the same unfortunately. It doesn't tickle the taste buds with the food being very average and the drinks being pricey. The service was good tho.

I think Hons is by far the best Chinese restaurant locally. I mainly use it for takeaways and only dine in on special occassions. Last time we had the set meal for 4 and it was good value for the quality and variety of food we enjoyed. I love the Satay Chicken they do as a starter. I will be back soon!

I came here last week with my boyfriend for a meal.

We last used Hons back in 2013 for a restaurant meal and was disappointed with the cleanliness in the restaurant. However having noticed that they have now regained a 5* "scores on the doors hygiene rating" we decided to give it another try for a family takeaway meal. We ordered takeaway for 6 people and the bill was a reasonable £60.00 / £10.00 per head. The food we ordered in our opinion was far better both in taste and quality compared to the other Chinese takeaways that we have used in both Parkwood and Wigmore which have now become very hit and miss. The only slight disappointment were the ribs which did not have much meat on them.

I loved the food especially the spare ribs and the Singapore noodles, will go again.......

Contentos con el precio de la comida, pero decepcionada por la falta de modales, I. e. Pedimos dos tia Maria, una para el flotadores boy, y una para el cumpleaños de mi novia hijos. Ambos fueron entregados a mi pareja. Si regresaría? Sí, mal servicio una vez merece un intento extra, pero dos huelgas, y me temo que su salida. anterior decepcionantemente visitas han sido de una calidad más alta, y espero que esta norma se volver en nuestra próxima visita.

Arriving back fairly late from a trip, we decided to see what Hons was like now.We had no trouble getting in, but the people on the table next to us were so loud we couldn't hear ourselves speak.We ordered the mixed hors d'oeuvres.. When it arrived it was disappointing. It had probably been prepared a lot earlier. The remaining dishes were better, but I don't think I will return.

My husband and daughter and I went to this restaurant on Saturday evening. It is the second time and we were as delighted with it as we were the first time. The food is excellent the service very good, very good value for money

Hons, drove past it a thousand times in many years, must give it a go. We did, and all in all a very good experience, not exactly " China Town London" but pretty close. Arguably the best in Medway, that's our family's verdict. We always enjoy a full evening in any restaurant so if your in a rush don't bother.

The food at Hons Chinese restaurant will not disappoint. Beautifully prepared and served and delicious to eat. A lovely atmosphere with great staff, who are appallingly lacking in numbers. The restaurant was absolutely packed when we went on 13rh May for my sister in laws 60th birthday. There were several other large parties who had also prebooked. However the management had only provided 3 staff to wait on tables, serve drinks and deal with the constant flow of take away customers. This put a damper on what was other wise a fabulous evening.

Had a delicious meal on Saturday night with my husband the management are just so friendly they are husband-and-wife and whenever we go into horns we are always made very welcome and the food is excellent can't fault the place must go there .

Went to celebrate our grandsons birthday, ordered set meal for six plus some extras. Had the starters then had to wait two hours for the next course to arrive. took almost four hours to get our complete meal. They seamed to be too busy with the takeaway side rather than the restaurant

We gave not been here for years as it really went downhill however have heard it has got much better again so decided to try again.The restraint was very crowded but we were seated straight away. When the orders were taken disappointed that they did not have lobsters or crabs.The starters arrived and were ok although not as tasty as I expected. There was a delay of about 40mins which is far too long. Again good was ok but not overly special. For desert wanted banana fritter and ice cream only to be told no ice cream. Cost was ok but with food being average and not available they need to up their game.

Visited on the recommendation of a work colleague. As with all Chinese restaurants the decor isn't anything to right home about but the food was excellent and for the quality priced well. Service was mediocre asked for a glass of water that never came and empty glasses and bottles were never removed from the table but don't let this detract from what is a good Chinese. Again food was superb. I'll be back next time I'm passing through.

Been here many times. Never disappointed. Food is consistently good quality and staff are always friendly. In my opionion, its the best "sit-down" chinese restaurant in Rainham (Kent). Not sure if its the only one, but nevertheless, never feel like looking for anywhere else.

Midweek meal to celebrate friends' birthdays, the service was excellent with friendly waiters, we had the hors d'oeuvre starter which was a good choice and then a selection of main dishes for sharing. Surprisingly busy for a midweek but then there are not that many sit down Chinese restaurants in our area. All round a good evening had by all, would recommend and will definitely be going back.

My nephew loves Chinese food so we took him out for a treat during the Easter Holidays. We arrived early evening and were shown to a table where as soon as we were settled our drinks order was taken and the usual Prawn Crackers appeared, After a short time the rest of our order was taken.The service was prompt and the food hot and although I had forgotten to order some Sweet and Sour sauce for my nephew's starter it was quickly brought. The restaurant got busy as it is also a take-away but the eat-in customer's were not left wanting. The only let down were the toilets,but as they seem to be in the process of being redecorated I can put up with that. I only hope that they will be putting in a second handrail as the stairs down are quite steep. I also hope that I am feeling a lot better when I next visit as I have been ill for weeks but did not want to let my nephew down so did not enjoy my food as much as usual.

Always love the food at Hons, have eaten here over many years. Felt the service was different on a Sunday - I know they close earlier - 10.30 but a table at 8pm is still long enough to not be rushed. The starters were cleared and the mains came straight out. Too quick for our liking. The food was lovely and reasonably priced but service with a smile would go a long way.

We booked a table for a birthday celebration for 4 and the staff were great. We asked if we could decorate the table and they sorted this for us before we arrived, balloons and all. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night but the staff were really attentive and went out of their way to make us feel special. The food was exceptional and the mongolian lamb was to die for. It melted in the mouth. The dishes including the starters were ample for us and on top of this we had various drinks. The final bill was very acceptable and we will be making Hons a regular venue for a stunning Chinese meal. Highly recommended,
