Happy Valley in Medway

The only reason I give it two stars is because of the price the food is good and tasty but not worth the price far too expensive for a Chinese takeaway. It goes up every single year which is too much. Bring your prices down your too expensive. I’m in the catering industry and I know how much things cost and you are ripping people off.

Ordered tonight and it took an hour and twenty minutes to arrive. After a call to ask where our food was. The food was barely warm and by the time we dished up it was cold. prawn crackers tasted old and dry. Egg fried rice was the same. missing the bottle of coke. Only positive was the delivery driver went to the shop to replace it. won’t be ordering again.

Literally never go anyway else, the perfect Chinese!

If i could give it a zero i would. The most vile thing i’ve ever put in my mouth and i’ve willingly had tripe. I would rather eat the container that it came in.

Been ordering from this Chinese for over 15 years usually spot on, tonight ordered chicken green peppers with rice, really poor rice was dry and hard, chicken sauce was virtually none and what was extremely spicy.dont know if new chef or owners but won’t be back.. time to find a new Chinese

Absolutely amazing local take away. Never fail to deliver great food. Always on time, always high quality and always happy to make any minor amendments to the way the food is prepared if needed. Highly recommend

I used to love the food from here last few times it's really been disappointing. I ordered egg fried rice to day and curry sauce.the rice was like over cooked and no pees. And the curry sauce like water. I called them and there responce was we never put pees in are egg fried rice. That's not true because my daughter doesn't like pees so when I order hers I ask for no pees now being sick 🤢

Well I highly recommend if you enjoy cold food, pink chicken and almost 2 hours wait time (advised 50 minutes). One of the worst Chinese takeaways I’ve ever used.

We had chips curry sauce and spring roll the chips were really salty even though we didn’t ask for salt my husband is a diabetic, he bit in to a spring roll and it was full of oil I can understand if it was a one off but this has happened 4 times now with us they are putting money before business we paid a lot of money just to go in bin and we are so dehydrated I’m not leaving as that I will be ringing them tomorrow avoid at all costs

Have had it 3times now because we live in Strood by the time it gets here it is stone cold i even mentioned it when I phoned and they said we would be first ones and they lied again as soon as we got it we threw it straight in bin and ordered somewhere else we have 5 family members who order from here and we have told them not too my daughter has even ordered a large spring roll and she has thrown it straight in bin because it is freezing cold it’s the most disgusting food I’ve ever eaten my father in law has stopped ordering because it’s freezing cold they say an hour because they deliver everywhere else before they get to us but luckily enough we ordered a pizza and it’s not worth ringing them because they don’t do anything

Would vote zero stars if I could. Was told 65 minute wait for deliver. Instead took two hours. No apology from the driver. Food was poor, tasteless and dense. Avoid this place.

Good food, fairly priced, terrible service, rude and couldn't be bothered. I order from regularly but will go elsewhere going forward as appreciate not being spoken to like I'm an inconvenience.

Absolutely delicious! So impressed with the quality of food. Vegetables were crisp and fresh, meat alternatives were amazing - it was awesome to have a not-chicken chow mein. The salt and pepper tofu is SO good! Delivered hot and in a very reasonable time. Highly recommended.

We had chicken curry, chips, special fried rice and chicken balls everything was really salty this is the 3rd one we have had now and it’s been same I’m really dehydrated give it a miss

Ordered at 6.30pm for delivery at 8pm and they delivered just after 9pm. Some was cold and some lukewarm. They obviously can't sort out their delivery times as most negative feedback is late delivery and cold food. If I'm going to have to heat it all in the oven I might as well buy it from the supermarket . You just lost my custom.

Had this chinese tonite happy valley and I have to say its the best Chinese we've had, and we will definitely be back for our next one. The portions were big far too much for me. But excellent service and lovely people and they didnt mind changing few things on meal. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

First time we have used them tonight as we had a menu come through the door and we all agreed the food was amazing and it was delivered on time and hot. We will be ordering on a regular basis from now on.

Found this place after moving the the area few years back, and now always the go to for a decent takeaway. Always good quality and reasonably priced.. Try the A2 on the set menu 😋

Disgusting ive taken a photo, ordered a special chow mein i got rubber chicken and mushy noodles that stank of beef gravy...made me gag...rang and said they need to change the chef because I'm not fussy but this is the worse Chinese ive EVER tasted waste of money and will never use again ...

Food took over two hours to come, journey only takes 10 minutes tops, phoned twice and said it's on way both times, when it eventually arrived it was cold, phoned and complained and they offered £7.50 refund. We ordered takeaway to eat as soon as we got it, however we have to heat it up and shouldn't have to. Won't go back again and won't recommend

Ordered food at 18:00 for delivery at 19:00. 19:30 comes and still no food. My missus phoned Happy Valley and discovered they had forgotten the order and hadn't even started it! Eventually get our food at 20:00 which was Luke warm and the chicken in the curry was very low quality and chewy. All of the food was very average compared to what it used to be like. It's a shame as this used to be our favourite Chinese takeaway but it has definitely gone downhill over the last 6 months. Time to use another use another Chinese takeaway as won't be using Happy Valley again after tonight's shambles.

Food was delivered 1 hour late but gave them a second chance and food was over 45 minutes late half the order was missing and when I called them they said I didn't order it ...food was cold and when probed was under 63 degrees....if you want food poisoning then this is the place to go

Although a couple of the dishes could have been hotter on arrival, the food was absolutely outstanding, best Chinese I've had in years! It wasn't greasy, the flavours/spicing, portion size and arrival time was fantastic. My new favourite Chinese, also their website is fab to order through and delivery driver really friendly. was a waste of money. food was disgusting. waited an hour. Chps werel warm and soggy with condensation where they have been in the bag so long. chicken bals were soggy and the rice was lukewarm. go elsewhere

Decent food, friendly staff, open til late.

Food wasn't as hot as it could have been. Chicken balls were really doughy. I ordered a satay sauce and I received sweet and sour. Drove back, swapped it and the kid behind the counter swapped it for a STONE COLD, FRESH OUT THE FRIDGE pot. I told him it was cold and he said it comes cold. (I order satay all the time from many other chinese shops and it's NEVER been cold!) I was then told to microwave it at home. I won't be buying from there again.

Amazing that the menu has expanded to add vegan options! So grateful that I can place an order without having to worry about undeclared or hidden animal ingredients. My only feedback would be to say, not all vegans want ‘mock’ meat in their options, for example I would love just a vegan vegetable fried rice (no egg, no mock meat). I would feel more confident ordering traditional vegetarian dishes (plain chow mein, sweet and sour veg, satay veg) if these were listed under vegan too!

What a disappointment, I have used this Chinese for about 5 yrs and never had such a poor quality meal. There must be a new chef, curry had no taste and was gluppy, carrots in a Chinese curry ? No thank you… Prawn balls were soggy, Ribs were ok but again sauce was gluppy. Don’t think we’ll be back

Extremely disappointed order today from them chicken chow main noodles cold and mushy,Lemmon chicken extremely dry, Crispy chilli chicken is not crispy at all never wasting my money here again

Ordered a soup and a rice and had the pleasure of waiting 25 minutes for my order. The first two orders he placed in the delivery bags and left behind the counter didn’t really bother me but by the fourth and the first 20 minutes I kinda had the fekkin hump. Absolute joke of a service enter at your own peril. Thumbs down from us

Hi, husband and I were looking for spice. Asked the gentleman serving for extra heat as we have been in Asia and find most takeaways in UK down the spices. Well it was the best Chinese takeaway we've had in many a year. Fresh vegetables,piping hot and heat of chili's great. If we lived around here it would be our regular and if ever staying in the area again it will become a part of our holiday to look forward to.Thank you.

I was so hungry and didn't fancy Chinese from my local. So i remembered had a leaflet from "Happy Valley" Chinese shop. I had a look at the menu and thought it to be a bit expensive, especially comparing it to my local. But i just thought it looks really appealing i felt like i was treating myself anyway so why not. It was delivered quite quickly and just as well, as i was so hungry! well, what a absolute disappointment i had!!. The chicken in the chow main were like the size of small mushrooms, hard, the noddle's were also hard and so tasteless. The spring rolls were just pastry it also had no taste. The salty and chillies chicken coating was like cardboard.. The seaweed like plastic not that i have tasted plastic before. It was the worst Chinese have EVER tasted and the worst of all, they didn't even offer me any form of compensation . What a waste of £21, take my advice, do not waste your money ,you will be very disappointed

Chow mein is the only dish they could improve on apart from that 5 * 100percent

I've been a regular for 6 years and I can say without a doubt this is the best available. I moved into the area 8 years ago and in search of fine dining I was recommended this by my friend (Still to this day thank him for this recommendation) and so I tried it out and wow. It still brings a smile to my face everytime I ring up get greeted by the chap on the phone and moments later someones at my door with steaming hot food. Sure a couple times here and there it was off but it I'm not one of those snowflakes that judge on the downs instead of the highs. I'm gluten intolerant but the food they produce is always catered to my needs. My daughty is very fussy but even she finishes her plate completely. All in all a 10/10 experience the shop does not miss with their service and I hope to purchase there forever. Matt

Just had our first order from Happy valley chinese In Borsal Street Rochester it came in good time and it was very good

**Order Elsewhere** I have been using Happy Valley in Borstal for over 5 years. We have overlooked minor issues previously but today was ridiculous. Sadly I will never be using them again. After waiting 1hr 30 minutes I called to be told the driver was on his way. 20 minutes later still no sign. When the food finally arrived over 2 hours later it was cold. I called and was advised it was Saturday so they were very busy. Finally agreed for the meal to be refunded. 10 minutes later I received a call advising they would offer 20% off my next purchase but would not offer any refund as agreed. We hold an account with you, you can see we have been regular customers for over 5 years, such a shame. There are many other establishments to choose from, don’t take the risk.

Waited nearly two hours for our food to arrive cold. After calling twice to be told it will be 10-15 mins, nearly an hour passed! It’s a shame to say as we were regular customers but the customer service was awful when we complained as well!

Wow, once again I am so pleased with everything about Happy Valley. The food is so nice, fresh, the perfect taste with everything they cook. I just had hors d'oeuvre for 3 people, delicious. Every time I get food from here I get something new, I'm 100% impressed with everything I've ever had from Happy Valley. Thank you, My Definite Compliments to All the Staff, especially the Chef ❤️😎

I’ve recently moved to the area and after trying this Chinese I wouldn’t go anywhere else, it really is one of the best Chinese takeaways I’ve had (ever!) and the quality is just as good every time. The portions are normal/average sized and the food is always hot and arrives promptly. I also love that you can order on the website which I noticed is well designed. Thank you!

I never leave reviews but right now I'm that impressed with the food that I had to leave a review. This has to be hands down the best chinese me and my fiance have ever had and will definately be ordering from here from now on.

Ordered at 6:16pm expected to wait an hour maybe as it’s a Saturday, still waiting and it’s now 8:15pm over 2 hours for a small order.

This is usually OK but tonight this wasn't quite the case. Firstly we ordered before 6 and we're told 20 minutes for order to be delivered. It was an hour, which wouldn't have been a problem if we'd known up front. Having waited so long over expected time unfortunately the food wasn't up to usual standard. Pancake rolls were OK inside but decidedly soggy on the outside and stuck to their paper bags. Chips were also soggy, perhaps left too long or reheated. This is below what we would expect from Happy Valley, will order again but am prepared to order elsewhere if we get a similar standard. Sad.

Resonable fast delivery, but Very poor quality food. We ordered four mains, rice, chips etc..... but had to throw majority of it on the bin.

Food always delivered on time, piping hot and superb flavours. Only chinese take away we will use. We order on line and by phone and never had a problem always polite and helpful

Best Chinese we've ever had! We moved to Rochester in March and assumed coming from London that it would be hard to find great chinese. Happy Valley is better than any we had in London, or anywhere for that matter. Fresh ingredients, sizable portions, and the food even keeps for leftovers the next day tasting just as good. Highly recommended...they've been so good to have during lockdown!

Not bad. A lot of hype but not bad

I've ordered from here a few times and haven't had any problems. Except for today. My partner and I ordered a takeaway for collection and when we came to pick it up we were then told it was not ready. Not only was our food 30 minutes late, the young lad normally behind the counter was also very rude! I am extremely unimpressed by the lack of customer service this boy has and had nothing but rude, sarcastic comments for us when we asked how long our food would be. I don't think it was unreasonable to ask the question as we had been waiting for such a long time, especially after watching countless deliveries being pumped out the door! Overall poor customer service, ridiculous waiting time and the food wasn't all that either. Needless to say, we wont be back.

Delivery was over Hour and a half late, couldn’t get through over the phone for over an hour, was a regular but won’t be ordering from there ever again

NO STARS would be more fitting. We ordered the Chinese at 5.45. They claimed the driver had our order by 7.45. Still no delivery at 8.15 so called to cancel and ask for refund as I’d already paid by card. Ordered a Chinese from else where which was delivered within half hour. Even though I had cancelled the order from Happy Valley they turned up at 9.25 (3 and a half hours late) trying to get us to take the order, waking up our little boy who was in bed. Yet to receive my refund, not hopeful.

Ordered on Sunday waited an 1 hour 30 min for food to be stone cold and the curry pot had broken so was dripping out the bag. All food went in the bin.

Had dinner with my dad. Pre ordered for delivery time early evening Beautiful food and hot on delivery, friendly polite delivery driver. Thank you happy valley. Super impressed.

I've been buying from here for a while now for several reasons. Firstly, their food is fantastic. Second, the staff are always courteous and friendly. Third, the prices are competitive. Fourth, the food is always delivered hot and finally, their ordering website. This is brilliant. If you want food early, order during the day when they're still closed - the order still goes through and yours in one of, if not the first to be delivered. The site is incredibly easy to use, can be used for both collection and delivery AND you gain reward points for every pound you spend. Can't fault anything about the shop - highly recommended.

Found by accident after play at medway little theatre last time, planned visit post theatre tonight. Large pancake rolls remeniscent of childhood... Not large, gigantic!!! Thai green curry best I've ever had and container brim full.... Yippee!!.... Chilli lamb hot and delish. Plenty of meat in both, ready in 10 minutes, friendly staff, reasonable prices.... Thank goodness I don't live in Borstal cos I'd never cook myself again!

I think this place is a hit and miss like my husband says, it can be very good at times but sometimes its tasteless and the meat tastes old/weird which is a shame because you don't know if you gonna get fresh and tasty or the opposite

Why is it when you have a chineese they don't have a clue about meat.well certainly this lot it was rubber beef and rubber chicken. Obviously cat or dog!!!! Alright horse! Rude call taker didn't want to help arguing his food wasn't cold etc. 're delivered still shocking. Don't use this place there are ample better places around with attitudes and food to better this

Been going here for years, food is okay not the best or worst. Biggest problem is always forgetting something, 5 times in a row! Many more times before. Yes they may offer to deliver but wont be for at least 15 minutes when food will be cold or meal is over. Last time ordering from here.

DO NOT EAT FROM THIS TAKEAWAY!!! Myself and my partner decided to get a Chinese from here yesterday evening. Went into the shop and there was a young child flying around behind the counter on a scooter, very unprofessional!! We ordered a red thai beef curry and chicken chow mein, both of which were cooked in under 10 minutes, pretty quick in my opinion. When we got the food home my partner dished up, started eating his food and complained that it didn't taste right, I got my bowl and as soon as I picked it up I could smell a vile smell coming off the food. Upon closer inspection the 'beef' in our red thai curry was a funny grey colour and smelt rotten the restaurant had quite obviously reheated the rotten beef then smothered it in sauce to disguise the rotten smell. The chicken chow mein was greasy, bland and had large chunks of what I believe was bone in it. Needless to say both dishes went straight into the bin. I will never eat from here again!!!!!

Not great if I'm honest. Pie crust was rock hard, sausage tasted like eating rubber and the chips tasted like they'd been done in old oil. Not there usual.

DO NOT USE!!!!!! Went in and ordered my food, wasn't told any waiting time, 30 mins later asked where my food was, was told "soon, very busy". By this time other people were standing and asking where their food was, the phone went went non stop and I could hear the guy telling people their food would be there soon. 1 hour later I stood up and asked where my food was, I was told the same again but this time I said it wasn't good enough. Then food suddenly appeared. One women demanded her money back after waiting for ages. About 10 of us were standing waiting and 45 mins and he just kept taking more phone orders. Only when we all started complaining did he then start telling people it was a 90 min waiting time. When I got the food is was disgusting, not cooked properly and most of it got binned Go to snodland dragon boat, they give you a call back if you phone up an order when your food is 10 mins from being ready

Not a very happy valley here as your takeaway seems to be swimming in fat and/or over seasoned.The owners here are obnoxious, abhorrent little scumbags who I think are pig-ignorant in dealing with the public.The menu though is very good indeed,items sometimes seem to be only half-cooked.I have also seen a couple of rats sniffing around the vicinity in the last 6 months or so.

Don't usually take the time to write reviews but when your hungry and looking foward to nice bit of food that is lot more expensive then other chienese restaurants I will do. The food was cold the smoked shredded chicken was awful didn't look cooked and was soggy the rest was dry bland no flavour whatsoever the only nice thing thing was the chicken balls won't be using again, thought it be nice try a different place to the usual and went by the ratings and reviews waste of money and was left with myself and hungry children

A great selection of tradition Chinese meals available here. Service is quick if you come to collect, and free delivery is also available. Staff are always helpful, and most meals can be adjusted to suit dietary needs. The menu also shows most typical allergens, which is extremely helpful. Highly recommended.
