If you don't want to learn from others, you'll start learning American service charges and Chinese pre-made dishes. The environment is average and the incense burned feels poisonous.

Food was decent though the wait time was a bit slow. There is a 10% service fee as well

The friendliness shown to the guest is very pleasant. You won't be overwhelmed by the selection of dishes. Visual support is also helpful. Even if you take a shot in the dark when it comes to unfamiliar dishes, you won't be disappointed in terms of taste.

Do not recommend anyone to enter this restaurant. The food is quite mediocre and the staff is horrible at treating anyone.

I almost missed this Chinese restaurant due to its low rating. It tastes great and also has the Cantonese dim sum glutinous rice chicken. The price is moderate, and all the dishes I ordered are very good. I hope to pay for the large intestine in sour soup and pickled fish next time.

There are no other Chinese restaurants nearby so I came here. Unexpectedly delicious. Especially delicious. The service attitude is also very good!

The restaurant is upstairs and quite huge, nothing fancy. I had gone with my husband and two young kids, 3 & 8 years old and they love the sweet and sour pork as well as beef stir fry noodle (homemade udon like) Myself I had hong shu spicy soup noodles and it hit all the right notes of sour, salty, spicy, and just perfect for a cold winter night in Edinburgh. Absolutely memorable! Crispy duck pancakes was a bit dry, and the Loh Mai Gai was good but nothing special. However, I give the food an overall 4.8/5 for the other dishes that made up for it! Along with the service of 5/5 - this place is a must try!

I hesitated at first since Google rating isn't so good but decided to give it a try since I was craving for Chinese/Hongkong noodles. Turned out food was delicious! Ordered noodle and some kind of like hainanese chicken? The chicken and the beef of the noodle were sooo tender! Sauce and broth were tasty as well. Price-wise, just standard. They didn't charge the 3.5% on credit card as the past reviews said. The service was okay, food was out pretty fast.

I have been to this restaurant three times in the past three or four years in Edinburgh. 1. I came here with my friends for the first time three years ago. There was a mandatory tip and the service to Chinese people was very poor. 2. The second time I came here with a foreign friend and there was no problem. We both used bank cards to pay the bill. 3. Yesterday was the third time that my Chinese friend and I came here. We both wanted to pay the bill separately and swiped the cards separately! They said no ❌ They forced us to pay with PayPal or cash to get the aa bill and tipped mandatory! ! ? ? ? ? ? ?

If you’re looking for authentic traditional Chinese cuisine, decent portions and reasonably priced food then this is the place for you. The fact that the place is packed with Chinese people speaks for itself.

The food here is very delicious and there is a huge variety of dishes. Both Chinese and Western food are delicious. The price is also very reasonable. In addition, the dining environment here is also very good, clean and tidy, and the attitude of the staff is also very dedicated. In short, a highly recommended restaurant. Beautiful location！

The Dumplings was cold, small and without any good tasteless and we don’t like it!

La comida era horrible, la carne estofada y el tomate en una olla glaseada eran grasosos (planchas de grasa) , gelatinosos y poco condimentados. Las albóndigas de pollo agridulces estaban, como mi esposo describió “podridas” y el pato aromático de mi hermana estaba “bien”, el cerdo ordenado por mi cuñado también estaba “bien”. No tienen cerveza en el grifo a pesar de que hay dos grifos en la barra. La única cerveza que se ofrecía era tigre después de intentar pedir cualquier otra cerveza de la lista. También tomamos dos cervezas de jengibre y cuando pedimos otras dos nos dijeron que solo quedaba una. El servicio estaba bien, aunque mi marido esperó durante siglos para su comida, estábamos a mitad de camino a través de la nuestra para cuando llegó. La factura de esta comida básica fue de £ 100, incluido el cargo del 10% por servicio. Al salir usamos los baños, las damas estaban bien, pero mi esposo dice que los caballeros eran tan malolientes que tuvo que taparse la nariz y estaban sucios. Probablemente la peor comida china que hemos comido y definitivamente no volveremos. Como alguien más mencionó en este foro, todos los restaurantes estaban llenos y este estaba vacío, ahora nos damos cuenta de por qué.

Second floor, overlooking the street, spread out, quiet, well lit, attentive, family run

It's fair to say they have fresh ingredients and ambience here quite nice. The staff is really Chinese but the food is nothing authentic. Taiwan beef noodle looks nothing like this... It's just so sad 😔

Nice place. Four of us, we ordered bok choy, 魚香肉絲， 豆豉排骨，藤椒雞，鹹魚雞粒炒飯，they taste delicious. We were kinda hungry, so we ordered rice in the middle of the meal. The lady she gave us some extra more rice. Also, when we sit down, she asked us are we in a hurry or do we have a tight plan for the train etc. she is being honest with us that the time was busy and the wait is at least 20 minutes to get our first dish, she tell us in advance and let us decide, very thoughtful. Also, one of us she had an upset stomach since the morning, when the lady was aware of the situation, the restaurant waitresses they all agreed to let our uncomfortable companion to stay and rest for a while, they kindly offer a table and some tea for her, just let her rest in the restaurant after the meal. The food is good, the service and vibe is even better.

They said the driver hadn't arrived but was coming. At 17.40 we called again to cancel and recieved very poor customer service but thought it was done. Then the app updated to delivered at 18.15 even though it was only 18.00 so we called a 3rd time and was told it was our fault because we didn't go to the restaurant and pick it up ourselves. They refused to cancel our order or to refund us as the food was already ready. The lady on the phone was very rude and I am extremely unhappy with this service.

This duck vermicelli and sauerkraut soup noodle is super delicious. Come here.

Lady working there was rude. Did not let customers rest their heads on the table. Roughly touches me and tells me not to disturb other customers around me. Make it make sense?

This restaurant has an inconspicuous appearance. It is an upstairs shop. When we visited, it was an early dinner time and there were not many customers. In terms of the atmosphere, our initial impression was not high! But the waiter’s greetings are attentive and the food is very cost-effective. It’s definitely a surprise! We ordered several rice dishes, soups and desserts. Among them, the most recommended ones are: fried pot stickers ~ fresh and spicy with gravy, seaweed egg drop soup and salted fish and chicken fried rice are also good. The most surprising thing is the rare shredded sweet potato. We chose the shredded sweet potato, which was plentiful and delicious. Like it!

Very enjoyable dim sum for lunch. Lovely prawn dumplings, salt and chilli squid very good, leek, prawn & pork guotie very more-ish. Sticky rice in lotus leaf a little underwhelming. A vast, interesting menu we’d love to explore more. We shall return as soon as we can!

Buscadlo, merece la pena. Sabía acerca de Hongfu Noodle Bar, pero nunca había visitado hasta ayer. Mi esposa e hija entraron para una cena temprano (justo después de las 5 pm). No nos decepcionaron. Pedimos dos platos DimSum, dos aperitivos y dos platos principales junto con dos porciones de arroz frito. Había mucho para todos. El dimsum (SuiMai y albóndigas de langostinos) era fresco, caliente (temp, no especias) y muy sabroso. Pedimos brochetas de pollo satay y alitas de pollo horneadas con hierba limón, ambas deliciosas. Luego tuvimos costillas de repuesto fritas al wok y cerdo con salsa agridulce. Si te gustan los grumos pastosos de cerdo graso con una salsa de naranja brillante pegajosa, esto no es para ti. El cerdo se cortó fino y se frió hasta que quedó crujiente y la salsa quedó delicada y no abrumadora. En general, la comida era excelente. El servicio era rápido, eficiente y educado como uno esperaría, así que no hay quejas aquí! Fue interesante que todos los demás clientes cuando estuvimos en eran orientales, lo que en mi libro es una buena señal de que la comida será auténtica y sabrosa. En general, estábamos muy contentos y esperamos una visita de regreso en un futuro muy cercano.

The best food I've had in Edinburgh

It was very windy in Edinburgh today and made people feel uncomfortable. I had warm hot noodle soup here, and the clerk even asked if I wanted to drink hot water. The attentive service warmed my heart! Thank you 🙏 Good food and warm service!

I've ordered here twice before and normally the food is great, but today is something is definitely awry, even the rice is very overcooked. The seafood with noodles smells absolutely foul, with broken oyster shells throughout, gone straight to the bin. Very disappointed, £40 worth of food, and everything other than the pork dumplings had to be binned.

Great food,service and the place is amazing. You have to try eating here any time soon. Obviously for good food you have to wait a good amount of time but trust me its worth it. Everything they make smells, tastes and looks amazing.

Food is very fresh and delicious. But we received two portions of Chinese leaf vermicelli and no spring rolls this time.

Mind blowingly fresh, authentic and delicious

Located very close to the train station and you know it'll be good restaurant when majority are Chinese. "Spicy" tofu dish (麻婆豆腐）and some dumplings are my go-to at most Chinese restaurants ! Mapo doufu/tofu sauce consistency is too thick and actually not spicy. Dumplings decent though ! Plus portion sizes too small.

The dining location is very convenient. I ordered 4 dishes in total: iron pot eggplant/boiled fish/hand-shredded cabbage/fried soybean noodles. The taste and portion of the dishes were very good.

Great restaurant, our favourite restaurant in Edinburgh, and in Scotland as a whole to be honest. Excellent food at a good price, with authentic flavours. The location is superb, close to Waverley Station, the Everyman Cinema (where we went afterwards) and the Castle, with lots of atmosphere. Tasteful decor, and friendly staff who welcomed us and were able to advise us with our orders, and gave good recommendations. We can recommend the restaurant wholeheartedly, and look forward to returning here on our next visit to Edinburgh. Ten out of ten!

Big day out sightseeing, decided to go in for dinner as we were on our way home. Dinner was absolutely lovely. Food was phenomenal, perfect balance of each dish with spice and flavour! Staff were very sweet and courteous and served us our food and drinks very promptly. Keep it up!

Ordered through Uber Eats; Salt & Chilli Squid, Golden Flower Tiger Prawn & Egg Fried rice. The tiger prawns consisted of 7 whole prawns battered and deep fried, head, shell, legs and tail, for £17. No sauce or vegetables, just the dry prawns. After stripping away the deep fried shell etc, you're left with a moderate sized, unflavoured prawn. By comparison the squid was acceptable, but had been fried in burnt oil. The egg fried rice seemed to lack any egg. I'd avoid this place like the plague. Worst £30 I can remember spending for a long time.

Really good food and quite cheap considering the portion size and how centric the restaurant is. The food was served really quickly and the waitresses were very friendly. I would definitely recommend!

Fresh tasty traditional food. It was a bit quiet when we were there but we were for early dinner. Had the braised pork & duck with orange sauce, wok fried noodles, pork dumplings, all fab Toffee apple was delish to finish on too 🤤

Omg! I've never experienced a restaurant this awful. The veggies were excessively oily and overcooked. The mystery dish in the middle was indiscernible. The fired pork with sweet and sour sauce supposed to be crispy, were disappointingly mushy throughout. I won't be giving this place a second chance.🤯

Stumbled upon this Chinese restaurant perched on the first floor and thought, why not make it our lunch spot? To our surprise, the food zoomed in faster than expected, and the flavors? Oh, they were tasty.

I waited nearly 3 hours for my delivery after I ordered and once it arrived the chips were soggy and the soup was cold. :(

Manz I don't know why this gem only has 3.8 stars!!! We walked in because we saw Chinese characters when most of the shops were closed on Xmas Eve and damnz, this was so good. We got the lamb in sweet and sour soup and it was life changing! The soup was good, there was even tanghoon!!! And generous portion of lamb! That was filling for 2 and price was great for Edinburgh standard. So worth! Only problem I have is that the price of rice is very steep (3.5 Pounds for 1 pax ) but the overall bill was still very reasonable.

Went in the building was freezing cold, and there was an awful smell. We look at other diners and reviews on TA, so we decided that hat we weren’t staying.

This restaurant is in an excellent location, just up from St James Quater. The food was very good and good size portions. A good menu to choose from although I always go for curry when ordering Chinese food. My only criticism is the drinks menu, the beer was just in a can and the wine by the bottle is expensive. Friendly service. We will definitely return.

We dropped in on a busy Saturday night, during a visit to Edinburgh and found a tranquil haven, filled with delicious aromas and authentic Chinese food. We opted for one of the set menus, which was very good value and the food was fab, juicy pork, crispy chilli chicken to name a couple, all served swiftly with a smile. The staff were all lovely and we had a great evening there.

Got the pork buns and was treated to the sensation of cold meat - it was cold in the middle which meant it hadnt been cooked long enough despite taking ages to arrive.

I've had so much bad Asian food in Edinburgh. If you watch the Searching for General Tso documentary, they theorize chop suey was popular in the US because it had familiar elements along with "exotic" vegetables like beansprouts and that were relatively neutral in taste. This allows people to experience Asian exoticism without having to taste anything too foreign. That seems to be the state of Asian food in Edinburgh. I ordered the Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Maybe didn't taste Taiwanese since it seems like they're Cantonese. It did taste more similar to the soup base for a wonton soup with some modifications. But it was good and tasted like an Asian chef made it. Nice chewy noodles, may have been handmade. Loved the Shanghai dumplings as well. Thick chewy skin and they serve it properly with vinegar and ginger. Some of the other reviews are weird. One person spent three months in Asia and was surprised there was no sticky rice. South China usually uses jasmine which isn't really sticky. That's like saying you went to Europe for three months and was surprised you couldn't find coq au vin or schnitzel in a British pub.

It looks nice enough inside, but the dumplings and hot and sour soup were not good. Also, the service is terrible. The wait person told me some 15 minutes after I ordered that it had to be cash if it was under a certain amount, and then after about 20 minutes during which I still had no food, she said it would arrive soon, and apologized saying the kitchen got an order wrong and it was taking more time. Then she brought my food in disposable containers and in a plastic bag, even though I was already sitting at a table. She said I couldn’t eat there from takeout containers. I said I didn’t want it in takeout containers to begin with, that I didn’t have anywhere to take it. I stayed anyway for about 10 minutes, long enough to realize the food was sub-par, and I left it there uneaten. What a waste of time and food.

Best food we've had in our Scottish vacation

We had a szechuan shrimp dish, and a wok-fried haddock dish, along with siu mai. Everything was excellent. Best chinese food I've had in the UK in our 3 months here.

My sister and I first visited this restaurant by chance while in Edinburgh in March 2018. It was so memorable then that, on a visit to Glasgow in February this year, we dropped our bags off at our hotel and immediately took the trip to Edinburgh to dine there again. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere, service and definitely the food are all terrific. I was so happy to visit for the second time and to find that everything was as wonderful as remembered. The manager was stellar and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you, Hongfu Noodle Bar. You may not recall our visit by now, although I hope that mentioning the above may jog your memories. In any event, looking forward to a third visit from London!

Absolutely a rare find, the restaurant is on the 2nd floor, across the north bridge, very modern and sleek, food tastes amazing, authentic Chinese cuisine. Owner is from HongKong, super friendly and nice. Highly recommend!

I decided on this restaurant because of the lack of places, in the area. And it turned out to be a good choice. The decor is pleasant. The staff tried to meet our order, as we asked for a change in cooking. Large portions. For an average of £11.00. Typically Chinese food. Very fresh. Prepared, after ordering. Nothing reheated. But, not very spicy. It is worth , sometimes to get lost and look for food , not only in the popular places, on the main street. Very nice service. I should add that I came to this restaurant to eat, with a large family. Family very demanding and picky when it comes to food. And this restaurant met these requirements. I recommend and recommend. Soups. Excellent.

Super authentic Chinese/Cantonese food and very nice service. We had the salted fish with chicken fried rice, and it is so yummy! Also the eggplant (yes, we are from Australia) with French beans, salt and pepper tofu and the pork and veggie dumplings! We will be back again!

Good food, clean restaurant, and good views of Princes St. Lunch specials are a good deal, the size of the dishes is a decent value. They had great flavours and a good spice level. Our group of 4 shared two noodle dishes and a vegetable dish for lunch.
