Arsed munch box and satay chicken skewers.... was absolutely spot on. Satay was beaut aswell. Nothing worse than getting satay where tou can't taste the peanuts.

Very poor! Uber order well over an hour late and missing items .., won’t be using again

We ordered one Saturday night and was told 1 hour delivery.2 hours later still not arrived.Rand and cancelled our order and was told we would get a full refund which was over £30 but still not had it.Will be knocking on their door cause we want it back.Avoid this place at all costs

Ordered on Mother’s Day at 6.45 Got told 60 minutes for delivery, rang at around 8.10 to check how much longer and got told my order was in with delivery driver on the way. 8.50 still no order delivered tried ringing multiple times but no answer Order finally arrived at 9 but I had to tried ringing to tell them I didn’t want it any longer so explained to delivery driver the situation so can not comment on the food. Lady on the phone was rude and shocking customer service.

This is the worst take away experience I have ever encountered! Ordered my take away through the Uber eats app, it took two hours to arrive. Noticed around an hour after ordering that the delivery time frame had changed and was showing that it was due to us between 9:30- 10:00pm. We ordered at 7:30pm! Rang the restaurant to ask if they knew where our order was and the lady who takes the call there was extremely rude. Told me that she doesn’t know anything, it was really busy and nothing she can do. Then said it will get to you when it gets to you .I of course understand this but waiting two hours for a take away delivery is unacceptable. The lady’s tone was scornful as if us ringing was unreasonable. After finally waiting our food arrives at 9:30pm . We then noticed we was missing our chips. I again rang the restaurant and the same lady answered. I told her my order address and before I could even finish speaking I was cut off and she said yes it’s on it’s way in an unacceptable manner. I then said if you let me finish I was going to say you’ve forgot my chips. She said “right” and put me on hold. She then eventually said my manger has said he will refund you I said thank you, she put the phone down on me. I was lost for words no apology or nothing. The food wasn’t that great either, I just had chicken on its own since I had no chips. What a disappointment. Also had no refund, I’ve took this up with Uber Eats since the restaurant is to incompetent. I would not recommend ordering from here, I certainly won’t be.

Just had a delivery for are evening meal , easy to order , nice friendly delivery, but the food, awful Lemon Chicken, was grey, soggy batter, and chunks of Pineapple. The mixed meat sweet and sour, 70% batter and it had prawns in it. We will not be having another one, utter rubbish.

Ordered a takeaway for delivery. The food was cold, soggy, greasy chips, soggy sweet and sour chicken balls, chicken curry awful, chicken tough and chewy!… we couldn’t eat it, it made us feel I’ll 🤢Made a complaint via their website, guess what!… never heard back!!!…. Will never order from them again. They are more expensive than other takeaways, but zero quality! Will never order from them again!!! 😡

Would both..the customer service and delivery are rude..ordered at 5.pm..got food at 18.37..rang to say how rude the driver was and the fact my food was cold..rice not cooked and chicken balls and chips refrys..just out of order for 20 quid.

Takeaways was amazing and best in Retford. Food was hot fresh and really tasty. Old school Chinese. Ribs were very good. Not sold on the mixed reviews. Let’s see if it keeps up if we order at a weekend.

Awful food! 6 of us shared £76 worth of food from here for 4 off us to get food poisoning. We complained the next day at the first available opportunity to do so, to be told they would refund us £30. Because they hadn’t received any other complaints (let’s face it, they wouldn’t tell us if they had!) and because we didn’t bring any food back… well we didn’t know at the time it was bad food! Only thing we could of brought back was our stomach contents but that would of been rather grim. The lady that was in charge was very rude and abrupt. I spoke to her politely and respectfully and she kept repeating herself and then tried giving me a dodgy £20 note. I asked for proper English money which she rolled her eyes at me. Avoid at all costs, unless you want a few days in the bathroom. Save your money and go elsewhere!! Environmental health have been made aware, I don’t want anyone to go through what my family have just been through due to bad food from here!

First time ordering here and I can say food was lovely , will be using this Chinese in future Kid-friendliness: We mis heard the lady on the phone with the price and didn't take enough with us, so she knocked the can of pop off the bill and gave us the can anyway , really good of her

I have lived in the are for 3 years and have steadily been trying the Chinese takeaways. This is the first I have returned to and will do again. The food is excellent quality and extremely tasty. Well done Hong Kong House

Twice now I have ordered from the vegetarian section and received chicken - which was only realised after eating some (one was a soup so it was very hard to tell visually, the other was minced veggies which again was hard to tell). Very disappointing and upsetting. But I should have learned after the first instance. Never again. They did rectify the situation in terms of sending out the correct item after I phoned, and the rest of the food is usually nice. But it doesn’t really change the fact that they’ve gotten something so drastically wrong, twice.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE LET DOWN!!! Ordered some food lady on the phone was really rude she sounded like she didn’t even want to take the order😂 told us our food would be 45 mins then a houre went by still no signs of it thought Mabey there busy came to 2 houres and we called to see where our food was for the same rude lady to tell us he has been and couldn’t get in but he didn’t even try call us? Truth is the lady on the phone never even put my order threw on purpose 😡 I would definitely not recommend this Chinese delivery to anyone if I could give them 0 stars i would

Food is usually ok. Not amazing but ok. But tonight it was burnt - the ribs were actually black. We had the salt and pepper box and everything was way overdone. I’ve had issues with the woman on the front desk a couple times too and today she was just plain rude. She has zero manners and slammed our food onto the counter. We definitely won’t be returning. We order at least once a month from here and drive a 20 mile round trip to collect but going forward that won’t be happening. If we place an order we expect it to be ready for collection at the arranged time. Not 10-20 minutes later.

Since this place has been taken over by someone else it has gone downhill BADLY and I'm afraid that after receiving an EXTREMELY out of date Pancake Roll last night and only being offered a fresh one or £3 off our next order when frankly it smelled like it could have killed someone if they ate it we've decided that we won't be ordering from here anymore. I'm not usually fussy about things like this but I smelled this Pancake Roll and I nearly threw up, it smelled absolutely awful and without sounding like a diva it actually ruined my whole meal, a meal we spent almost £40 on. When Stella and Jimmy ran this place it was amazing but not any more...

Usually lovely food but not this time. The rice seemed burnt. Very dark in colour, the sweet and sour sauce was like jelly. I didn't enjoy any of it. Disappointed. ☹️

Arrived 2 hours after ordering and that was after 2 phone calls. The food that arrived was not to standard after such a wait either. Will not be eating there again! Only good thing was how apologetic the receptionist was.

Last time I placed an order I had an item missing so I called up and was told we were too far away for the item to be delivered so it would be refunded and credit would be added for the inconvenience caused. I rang up today to play an order to use the money owed and was told that the manager had not left the item refund just the credit. When speaking to the person she said that her manager was not in the country and she would not be back until Tuesday so I could not speak to her about it. The woman on the phone was the one I spoke to when the original order was incorrect and she admitted she remembers the conversation but as her manager was not there she could not honour it. This used to be our go to Chinese but the service has gone down hill and seems to be getting worse not better. UPDATE Collected another order to find yet again something missing. The manager is out of the country so I have to wait until Tuesday to find out what is going to be happening about it this time. Absolute joke.

Shocking we ordered over 3 hours before ON THE PHONE and they didn't even do the order! Shocking we had to find somewhere else and most places where full extremely disappointed! *** update they now claim I have not even called given I call was awnsered with new hobg king house I have not got the wrong number. Had a salt and pepper box with extra mussels ,sweet and sour sauce , noodles and a drink. Picked it up at time requested All food needed heating up. Free Drink was not put in ,we had ordered an extra drink which we got and paid for. Sweat and sour sauce extra sauce came in a very small pot and was not even half filled for 2.80 pounds. I rang about sauce and free drink and was told I would have this taken of my next bill. Both my partener and I did not rate the food and feel we have wasted 30 plus pounds. We will not order from here again very disappointed.

The best Chinese I've ever had every thing so fresh best Chinese in miles can highly recommend to anyone.we had spare ribs and seaweed for starters they tasted amazing.our mains where kung po chicken King prawns in satay sauce. Everything tasted so fresh. The service was excellent definitely going back on a regular basis.

Disappointed been waiting a while for our order and it’s turned up just warm, normally there’s no problems but this time was just disappointing, was really looking forward to tea 😔

Spent many years passing this establishment and finally decided to call in. Although there was no customers in the restaurant,only been open 10 minutes ,they weren't sure if they could fit is in. We were shown to a table and our order was taken, the staff explained that they were extremely busy and kept apologising. The kitchen was going flat out and lots of customers kept arriving for their takeaway orders. Our food arrived, spare ribs were to die for, and it immediately became obvious why they were so busy, the food was divine. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant for either dine in or dine out.

Having been to Hong Kong House several weeks ago with some friends. The food was lovely. So decided to bring another group of friends along. Whatever happened several weeks later I do not know! My friends and myself were placed next to table of a very rowdy party. The hot and sour soup was simply sweet and sour sauce with some vegetables thrown in. After having mentioned this, the bowl was taken away, having been replaced with something that tasted even worse! Second course arrived and the grease was sitting on the plate. The rest of the food was simply just a bad take away! In the meantime…the conversation was almost impossible by the stupid rowdy football style crowd at the next table, rapidly getting wasted on shots. With shouts of ‘shots’ to accompany it! As the evening progressed, the noise was building to a crescendo with the owner standing by the table, back slapping the patrons and fully encouraging this hooligan style behaviour! After the THIRD happy birthday song was sung it become clear that this was becoming increasingly intolerable. We went with the intention of catching up with with old friends at Christmas time and expecting a good time! Nay nay nay! Not so. We paid good money for an extremely poor experience. Having told the owner and the waitress about our God awful session at their restaurant. No apology was offered or refund/ compensation mentioned. DO NOT GO TO THIS AWFUL CHEAP TWO BIT RESTAURANT. P.S. The toilets were disgusting too. Just about says it all really!

Ordered the salt and pepper box what a disappointment it was the chicken bites were rock hard the chips had never seen salt and pepper and the spring rolls didn’t have anything in and to top it off I poured the curry sauce all over it and was the worst curry sauce I have had from a Chinese definitely won’t be using again

Hong Kong House appears to have changed hands this year and the food quality has dropped off, I ordered Chicken Curry (fairly decent), egg fried rice (standard quality), Shredded Crispy Chicken in Peking sauce (poor), Noodles (poor), Mini vegetable spring rolls (just ok). I've been to most Chinese takeaways in Retford and they can all be hit and miss but Hong Kong House used to be fairly good on these dishes, not so now. I probably wont return for a while to allow them to up their game a bit.

Just had a refreshing of the decor, looks great. Staff friendly and helpful. Service above and beyond. Still our favourite restaurant in Retford.

Take away is always on point ...very consistent....had a complementary beer on the house...Nice touch while waiting for my order .

In the past I have ordered Salt n Pepper brunch box 3 or 4 times and have been very pleased with it, I ordered it again last night and I was so disappointed and so was my partner, if you like chips you would love it, the box consisted of chips, chips and more chips, the spare ribs was exactly that ribs no meat just bone and the rest of the food was hidden by more chip the chow mein was nice

Very poor. No menu online, walked round to it to order a take away and all closed. In the web page it says it opens at 5pm went at 6.30 and closed. I think they have closed down.

My second time ordering for take away and it was as good as the first time I went. Good and quick service and food was delicious.

I've not long moved to retford, and to try some Chinese food for the first time on new years eve at Hong Kong House was amazing, really nice food, and the lady at the counter was lovely 😊😊

Wow owner is a really nice guy. Im working near here and wanted a meal. The owner Jimmy made one special during lunch time though he opens at 5pm. The Singapore was very very nice. Thank you Jimmy. 10 out of 10 for the effort and food 😉

Our favourite Chinese in Retford, although its fair to say this is not a fancy restaurant it more than makes up for this with its friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Portions are big especially on take-aways and prices are reasonable, but most importantly the food is tasty.

Never had a problem here. Love it.

Went here to night for family tea we had the all ypu can eat got to say it was excellent and value for money cooked fresh was hot and tasty been here twice for this meal would definitely recommend 😊

Long wait for a takeaway, then wrong order. Food is OK, sweet and sour, lots of veg and sauce, not much meat. Charge for chopsticks I'm lost for words.

My experience was really awful. Food was deeply socked in oil. Soup was out dated..Egg friend rice having no egg and vegetables... Waste of money and time.

Had a take away on Christmas Eve, friendly, fast, well priced and most importantly good tasting food. If there was one very very small criticism, could you publish your menu on a webpage? Nothing complicated just a single page.

I'd heard such alot about this restaurant/take away,so I decided to give the place a go. My advise would be,is to take a gallon of water to bed with you,because you will need it,far too much sodium glutamate in the dishes.

I had a tasty takeaway for a reasonable price. They were very busy but it wasn't a long wait and I always think the busier the place the better the food. A nicely decorated place with a pleasant atmosphere.

Been giving excellent service to Retford for many years. We had a party of four, booked our favourite table for an evening meal, starters and main course "eat as much as you like" £12 each. Total with drinks, wine and coffee less than £70 for the whole party. The quality and taste of the food was first class, served hot and well presented. The staff are always very friendly and take time to chat unlike many Chinese restaurants though the Hong Kong probably does more takeaways than "in" dining. The décor is a bit dated and toilets could do with a facelift but it really is difficult to find fault. Would we go again - tomorrow!

Excellent home cooking done by the owner. Some days Mon / Wed and maybe more they do an all you can eat cooked as you wish it and there are a lot of very tasty possibilities on the menu. Very reasonably priced and good beer and wine to wash it down. Friendly service in a homely atmosphere. Not the Ritz but very clean and tidy. Highly recommended.

Pleasant take away meal, no frills just a good take away.

Awful food. Noodles were partially burnt, very very dry, rubbery as if they had been microwaved from the night before. The chicken balls were soaked in oil and way over cooked, sweet n sour sauce was very odd tasting. In short everything certainly wasnt what all the other chinese take outs food tastes or appears like. I would recommend eating elsewhere! Very poor standard of food at best. Waste of money
