Best HK cafe I’ve tried in Manchester. The food was delicious and authentic, portions are amazingly value for money and definitely for sharing. We had Singapore Beef Brisket Curry, stir fried glutinous rice, satay beef beehoon, Vietnamese chicken wings, Portuguese pork chop rice - everything was spot on. Super bummed that they’re moving outta Salford 🥲

One of the best new food places I've been to in a while. So sad to see them leave Manchester. I'd recommend the pork chop in tomato sauce ( it also comes in chicken if you don't eat pork)

First time here, ordered baked pork chop rice and bolognaise. pork chop rice was sour than vinegar, bolognaise was sweet… Overall over priced than china town. I requested took off the service charge, she doesn’t let me to choose this option…I have right to reject to pay service charge, she asked to pay cash! what the hell!? I know you don’t want to pay tax, but this is none of my business! It would be unreasonable not to close down the business！

The waiter's service attitude is poor. The customer vomited immediately after eating without any concern and did not face the problem.

The service was passable, yet one must appreciate the unique charm Manchester establishments provide. The food was exceptional, offering generous portions. The level of service may surprise you coming from this particular shop. They have their own service standards which I will describe is not/below the average one you will expect. Unfortunately, my to-go shop will be closed from the end of April

My favourite hong kong style cafe. Food is always on point and tastes amazing. This is my always go to when i visit manchester! Food seemed pricey at first but considering other places that costs same or more but with less quality, portions are also good size so it is well worth the price. Gives me cravings! Would not hesitate to recommend!!

I ordered baked pork chop rice and stir-fried spaghetti with shredded beef fillet with black pepper. Overall, the taste was pretty good, but the price was on the high side. It was the most expensive Hong Kong-style restaurant I’ve ever eaten in Manchester, and be careful as it adds extra 10% service fee is charged.

Great food and large portion, make sure you can finish by yourself or you need to pack the rest home. Will definitely go again!

I have never tried to leave a review on Google. I originally wanted to support a Hong Kong-style tea restaurant. Unfortunately, the food quality, service and price are only 1 star. The baked pork chop rice is hot enough (￡ 14 + 10% service charge), the home-cooked food tastes average, the borscht (￡7 + 10% service charge) is bitter, I asked the staff for a left cup of water, but from the time I served the meal to the time I paid the bill, nothing happened. The staff’s service attitude Passive, no smile, not worth trying! I have never tried leaving a review on Google before. I initially wanted to support this Hong Kong-style tea restaurant, but unfortunately, regardless of the food quality, service, and prices, I can only give it one star. The baked pork chop rice, apart from being served on a hot plate (£14 + 10% service charge), tasted like home-cooked food, nothing special. The Borscht soup (£7 + 10% service charge) was bitter. I asked the staff for a glass of water, but it never arrived from the time I ordered until I paid the bill. The staff's service attitude was passive, without any smiles. It's not worth a try!

First time I have tried this place and to see how 'authentic' it was supposed to be to Hong Kong's 'Chaa Tan Teng' (Hong Kong Cafe). Booked table for two (bookings only). Menu looked good with plenty of choice but rather pricey. I went for the Salt and Pepper King Prawns, at £25 they better be worth it I thought to myself and wanted to try the special of the day of Singaporean Curry Beef Brisket, but it was sold out! It was only 5pm. Oh well was recommended the Beef in Black Pepper sauce with rice (not something I usually go for). Drinks were Iced Lemon Tea and Milo for the GF. Out came the King Prawns first and they were massive and plenty of them. Taste was very good, proper chilli salt n pepper flavour with a nice kick to it. The Beef and black pepper sauce came next and it was made with melt in the mouth beef brisket. The dish itself was fine, not being a fan of black pepper sauce. We took a doggie bag home for the prawns. Two dishes 2 drinks and 10% service charge = £52.00, pricey but just about worth it. Will again and try their other dishes. Service was good.

Great food! So happy to discover this place and we found it to be better than any restaurants we have been to in China town. Definitely going to coming here often

Although I have seen some people saying that the service is not good, I always feel that it is good every time I go! ! Not only was the food delicious (I was completely overjoyed), but once our book arrived at the left corner first (about 15 minutes before they opened the store), they also told us to eat slowly. Sit down, they don't want to leave early anyway, as long as they don't add orders and make the employees OT, it's a completely conscientious restaurant. Tofu, curry beef, baked pig, fried glutinous rice, everything is delicious... I think overall they all deserve full marks! !

Called to check for vegan and vegetarian options and they said they don't have any at all. Very disappointing not to have any in 2024. They said due to a small kitchen and wanting to get it right if they do so hopefully will come at some point

Although the price is not cheap, everything is excellent and the portions are generous. Especially the baked pork chop rice is enough for two people, and the red bean ice is worth recommending.

It’s about 5 month since my last visit, ordered the seafood linguine, top notch again! Taken my family tonight and service from all has been incredible. Food was so tasty!! We got introduced the satay beef with crispy vermicelli, I don’t know how they do it, the sauce the beef. Word can’t explain it. The woman in charge was so accommodating. They were right to be on Manchester Finest!!

The food is fantastic and it is honestly a crime it isn't busy here every night. I think they are maybe harmed by the location, as it's a bit hidden, but so worth it. I had the Beef Brisket Curry and the Chicken Dumplings. I so stuffed by the curry, I ended taking the dumplings home to enjoy later. Beef was PERFECTLY cooked.

Perfect food and service, all 3 types of meat that we’ve ordered (chicken, pork and beef) were so succulent and melted in our mouths 🤤. However, just watch out for the extremely strong milk tea (literally couldn’t sleep for the whole night 🫠), so please don’t finish a bottle of it by yourself if you’re sensitive to caffeine like me 😂

Best food I had in MY LIFE - I don't understand the ooga booga about the service because my friends and I had a pleasant lunch there. Shoutout to the lady who served us (I believe her name is Brita), she was extremely welcoming and provided excellent suggestions for our first meal. We had the Baked Portuguese Chicken with Rice, Baked Pork Chop with Rice in Tomato Sauce, Fried Vermicelli with Satay Beef and the iconic French Toast. All 3 proteins were cooked to perfection. I was extremely fortunate to have an ultimate dining experience and finally understanding the expression of ‘food melting in my mouth’. At one point, we took a pause from eating as we felt that we were unworthy of savouring such delicacies. We will return for more. Considering its location, it is definitely a hidden gem in Manchester, if not the United Kingdom!

High-quality food, but this time I visited, the price went up significantly, but there were so many diners. I went there on the weekend and didn't make a reservation. After waiting for about an hour, there was no table. The store said there was no need to wait. Hope to visit again on weekdays.

I have been twice, Once dining in and once taking away. Food is great aswell as the drinks, Plenty of flavour, And friendly staff. Some dishes are large but they have an option to take your left overs with you.

Large portions, prices are rather steep for a cafe. Overall ok. I think portion size is enough for 2 /3 people.

The service of the staff needs improvementnent. The staff is very cool. Also, their charges are not clear and usually you are charged more than the listed price. So, you have to check every item before payment.

The service attitude was very poor. When we arrived, we were already shady and didn't think we were asking for money. I had no expression during the whole process. I would never come again even if it was free. I have no idea how to do business like this?

The attitude of the staff is very bad, the chilly sauce charges £1.5, the milk tea is thin and has no tea flavor, and the fried rice noodles with shredded pork are too wet. poor services, food is not good at all, even ask for chilly sauce, they charge £1.5. I definitely will not come again.

The staff won’t smile at you, extremely bad attitude to customers. They may bring HK’s serving attitude to the UK but it’s not gonna work. The food is overpriced, the location is even in Salford. Same food in Manchester City centre is 30% cheaper than them. Overall, disappointing (had a Uber ride from Manchester City Centre to Salford for this, not worth it.

Very size portions, really good food would miss out the red kidney bean, ice cream drink. Definitely needs to go back to try more of the manu.

Owners must have worked for Ryan air before because there is a cost even for takeaway boxes and soy/chilli sauces + automatically applied service charge. 😳 Difficult to book. Food was tasty. Service was slow. Get there quick before they start charging to use the toilet or applying a rental fees on your chop sticks.

Have come a few times and tried a couple of dishes which are all very good. I would even say they are one of the best among all the Hong Kong restaurants across Manchester. Highly recommended!

I visited here after all the hype to see what it's all about. There were handwritten signs on the door which said we needed to make a reservation to attend. We did not know this as we don't remember seeing it mentioned anywhere else. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us. I enjoyed my red bean drink but would have like there to be more bean in it. My friend really enjoyed her baked pork rice dish. I enjoyed the duck vermicelli but wasn't expecting all the peppers in it, which to my knowledge isn't supposed to be in this dish. In fact, that was the only downside to the dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed the chicken wings, though. It might take a little time for your food to come as they only have 1 wok in the place. Overall, I enjoyed my visit.

They are renowned of poor service attitude and yes they dont seem welcoming any customer. But to put that aside their food is exceptionally good. The baked pork chop rice with tomatoes was delicious and in super large portion. Very local HK styled dishes! You also need to reserve a table in advance - nevertheless on that day the restaurant was quite empty.

Came here as recommended from a really good friend who also attended with us. Service were great and food were amazing! Couldnt get over the seafood linguine! Chicken wings with fried garlic pieces were devine. Im not too sure what it were called but the pineapple rice with cashew nuts were so tasty! I would like to have your recipe. One meal makes two people very full. The portions are filling and the milk tea is delicious.

Unfriendly, unhelpful servers who could not muster a smile during service. Salt and pepper chips were clearly frozen and refried. Hostess took 20 minutes after ordering to inform us that the stir-fry beef with garlic and teriyaki was not available, at which point we were already halfway through the chips and decided against ordering another dish. Portion of HK milk tea was minuscule for £4. The only saving grace for this visit was the sweet and sour chicken, which tasted like childhood and was excellently textured. Beware of the compulsory 10% service charge on top of the advertised prices.

Excellent Service despite high number of customers, really friendly staff and place had a good atmosphere. Food was delicious , we had chicken and beef with big portions highly recommended.

A bit over priced especially when comparing with other similar Hong Kong style eateries. Portion size is larger than expected on some dishes but on small side for 1 on others. Price don’t reflect on size and it can feel either overwhelming or cheated depending on what was ordered. Taste wise it’s passable, but not for the price. It’s ashamed as expectations were high.

We visited this place whilst staying in airbnb and were blown away with how good the food was and the service from staff was exceptional. In particular Yvette the owner was very friendly and helpful in advicing us on the menu as it was our first time eating In a Hong Kong restuarant. We would recommend this place to anyone who want authentic Hong Kong food. Well done Yvette , We will come back!

The service attitude of the waiters is extremely poor! ! ! ! When I was carrying a glass of water or a takeout box, the waitress responded in an extremely unfriendly and questioning tone. I felt very offended and lacked basic respect! With such a service attitude, why do you have the nerve to charge a 10% service fee? ? ? I hope the restaurant will take the attitude of individual employees seriously The food tastes normal and the portions are generous and generous, but it is really unpleasant to be treated like a guest!

Very high quality dishes, authentic taste, much better than many so-called famous old restaurants in hk. Pls note the portion is very big. Recommend 1 main dish and 1 snack (or toast) is good enough for 2 ppl. Efficient service and food is hot. It reminds me of today's Australian beef in Hong Kong. The staff at Australian beef are very fast, the food is served at the optimal temperature, and the surface is skewered, but in fact they are all very nice! Enjoy Hk food, Hk style!

The place was easy to find, quite airy and spacious and easy to locate a parking spot. We ordered a couple of dishes, one was excellent, one was good, and one was just ordinary. I echo some of the other reviews about below par customer service, although the front of house lady didn't say or do anything in particular to upset us but it was quite obvious she didn't enjoy serving customers. Unfortunately she has brought the unwelcoming demeanour (probably got used to it in HK) to the UK.

Service can be hit and miss, sometimes not so friendly. However, the food is good, but mindful a lot gets sold out or they stop making it. Prices have gone up quite a bit it seems. Portions are large worth sharing as a group.

Hometown food, in one word, delicious food

Consistency at its best, when talent comes along with plenty of effort, what an excellent job offering the majestic Hong Kong style dishes. I have been here twice, but it was more than a year ago since my last visit. It was around mid-February 2022 last time. Yet after tonight's meal, I can assure Hong Kong Choi is still doing outstanding work with an incredible tribute, bringing back Hongkongese vibes and amazing diversified Hong Kong food to the city of Manchester. The photos I've taken are all the dishes we ordered, and to be truthfully speaking, they taste undeniably awesome, plus look very attractive at the same time. These are Baked Portuguese Chicken Rice, Baked Pork Chop Rice In Tomato Sauce, Baked Chicken Rice in Cream Sauce, Roast Duck and Pickled Cabbage in Braised Vermicelli, Salt and Pepper King Prawns, Seared King Prawns in Tomato Sauce, Garlic and Pepper Pork Ribs, Nappa Cabbage and Bean Sprouts tossed in Garlic, Pineapple Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Pan-fried Bean Curd Roll, Singaporean Fried Noodles, Hong Kong Peanut Butter French Toast, Cold Hong Kong Milk Tea. Unhygienic food especially the noodles and rices with rotten meat and disgusting smell (this restaurant over fry the unhygienic food to cover the smell)! Insanitary conditions in the toilet (always locked until you request for, and limit your time for using toilet, too narrow minded for a restaurant)! The worst service in UK, just wants money! You can see the rude reply from the restaurant owner, espeically for international guests, which is mean and impolite! The Hong Kong Choi wants to thread those brave guys who leave real reviews! Overall, this restaurant is lower than 1 star, and unhygienic food (but with relative high price) will makes you diarrhea and vomit for over 3 days! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

The atmosphere and service of the place was really nice, quite open and spacious surrounded with windows to let you sight see whilst eating. However the menu was a bit limited and did not contain a lot of traditional Chinese dishes for my specific needs. The food did taste nice and the prices seemed okay. Overall was a good experience and I do recommend people to visit to form their own opinion on the place! They currently do not cater towards dietary requirements so do be aware of that.

Very bad attitude and impolite rude woman in reception!!! The food smelled bad, especially the pork chop, it had a very disgusting smell! I told the female salesperson and she said, "As long as you can eat it, you don't need to change it?!" The woman at the sales desk was very strange. She didn't speak Mandarin, but she had a very bad attitude towards international students who didn't speak Cantonese. She pretended not to understand and deliberately charged more. If she didn't check, she wouldn't refund it. It was very disappointing! I am typing in traditional Chinese so that the front desk can see and understand her behavior. This behavior is extremely disgusting!

Pretty bad service! Pretend (or Really) not understand English, and take advantages of people not review the receipt to make more illegal money! Besides the 10% service fee, they add 20% VAT on top of food price!!! The quality of food is way lower than average, there are some disgusting hairs in the rice!! Hong Kong Choi is Manchester City's authentic Hong Kong Style Cafe and it is temporarily the most prime I have eaten in The UK! Hong Kong Choi is the most delicious and authentic Hong Kong tea restaurant I have ever tried😋I ate Baked Pork Steak Rice, Curry Beef Brisket Rice, Clear soup beef brisket rice noodle, Red Bean Icd, HK Milk Tea, Lemon Tea, France Toasts and beef stirred fried pasta with black pepper. Highly recommend!

Okish food and quite pricey for what it is. the management and staff seem to be unwelcoming. Service was non existing. I would say don’t brother unless you are from Hong Kong.

Foods are above standard but location is not convenient for those who do not drive

The food was really filling and a lot which is nice. The atmosphere is nice as well. Menu is very big though, not only from Hong Kong and it is a bit long to get the food. Service was really bad from our sever (a woman probably from Middle East) she didn’t have any bad will but just didn’t not know her job. Did not understand English, had to repeat 5 times so that we could get water. Overall a good place just prepare yourself to be patient.

The rudest service I have ever seen…

We ordered baked Portuguese chicken rice, baked chicken rice in cream sauce, and French toast, all of them were delicious. It seemed a bit pricey, but actually the portion was huge. We only finished half of the mains, another half to go. We went on a Saturday, the restaurant got full shortly after opening at 12pm. Don't forget to book in advance for weekends.

Very little options for vegetarian and vegan people.

The western toast is good, the milk tea is good, the wonton noodles are okay (I use the standard one) and the salt and pepper chicken wings are good. I went there after lunch, so it is rated 4 stars. I will go there next time for dinner.

It’s quite amazing to have authentic HONG KONG cuisine in Manchester. The noodle/rice dishes are all impressive.

Clean and tidy resteraunt, my friend is from hong kong and wanted me to try with him and i was not disapointed! Had the pork baked rice, the food was piping hot and cooked to perfection (and massive portion - get what you paid for and more) the fried bread and peanut butter as a side and milo milk to drink! I love the fact its like an ordinary western cafe but sells authentic chinese foods! If you haven't been i highly recomend.

Excellent food and generous portion too. The seafood linguine in lobster sauce is simply outstanding. It’s like a fine-dining version of Wagamama. A no frills setting but the frills come from the quality of the food. This will now be one of our ‘go to’ restaurants.

Food is really nice. The review should be at least 4.5. The only issue is that area is not very safe at night. When my partner and I left the restaurant at 7pm, 4 youngsters with sweater collar covering their face followed us, we had to go inside a shop nearby to avoid them.

Great authentic Hong Kong food but sells out of certain items, closes early and is reservation only as its so busy so make sure you book early! I'd recommend the garlic chicken wings (super crispy), Japanese pork cutlet curry rice, beef brisket and baked rices!

The garbage is blue and yellow, but it is still a yellow shop. The attitude is as bad as a dead dad. It has no business and no customers and pretends to be booked by many customers. The food quality is garbage. I advise everyone not to patronize this garbage shop.

my friend wanted to try this place recently, so off we went. Booked a table, while I was half expecting bad service but brilliant food, based on the reviews. Unfortunately, I got it the other way around. I found the service to be friendly but 2 dishes out of 5 were inedible. I let them know but they refused to take it off the bill or offer a new dish ...and it wasn't a case of we'd eaten most of it and tried it on. No, most of the meat in the dish minus was not eaten. So I didn't really appreciate paying £15 for just the plain bowl noodles, which is essentially what I did when whom I can only assume was a manager or proprietor, refused to take it off the bill.

All the dishes were tasty and the authenticity was almost real. Affable and friendly staff. The environment was welcoming
