Had the set menu where the menu describes ribs as part of the mains - served incorrectly as we requested peking sauce and was served them dry /salt pepper. Then to be told that the dip served with this was peking sauce - it was clearly sweet chilli from the supermarket. Menu is misleading and food served was very substandard and my local takeaway is way better. Waitress explained that many people have said this is the case so why have improvements/changes. Every drink I asked for from the menu was out of stock so settled for a sprite to be served in the can with a straw like I'm a child. We raised our complaints with the staff so I'm not just hiding behind my phone and was argued with like we are in the wrong. Overall not happy with the food or the service.

Very expensive for take away, quantity is small, you will literally need to spend at least £15 to fill your stomach. Not recommended, try other Chinese restaurant.

Food was less than average. Not hot. Got food served before plates. Plates for starters were expected to be the same as for mains they didn’t give clean ones. Went to toilets and was Shocked at the state of the place. Stains on floor and ceilings. Never ever again will I darken these doors terrible!!! There was a bike in the reception and a load of beer and soft drinks bottles all over the reception. Holes in walls and crooked pictures on the walls with peeling wallpaper everywhere else . Shambles among shambles Don’t bother !

Half of our starter was missing. My daughters chips were brought out after we had finished our mains. Crab meat soup was actually crab sticks! To top it off we paid the bill and left only then to be chased along the street by a waiter saying the bill was wrong and we had to go back in as they hadn’t included the drinks!

Leckeres Essen, super Service. Auch Gerichte, die so nicht auf der Karte stehen, werden ermöglicht. Sehr flexibel. 5 Sterne.

Restaurant looked nice enough so decided to give it a go- we were the only people in the restaurant part one couple that finished when we ordered. We ordered a 2 person set menu and a few drinks- at this time more people started to come in. Our drinks then took 20 mins to arrive and then came our (watery) soup.... but after this... the other 5-6 groups in the restaurant who all came in 20-30mins after us started getting their food and we were left with nothing! Over an hour into being at the restaurant and complaining we have obviously been forgotten about we did get some of our set menu.... but even then we finished the food we had been given without the rest of the accompanying stuff (even the prawn toast didn’t make an appearance). Nearly 2 hours into our ‘experience’ we decided enough was enough so said we would pay for the food and just go.... we explained we would only pay for what we had received so you can imagine our shock when the ‘revised bill’ was twice what our full price bill on the set menu plus drinks should have been...... we put £30 in their hands and walked out trying not to let this bad experience ruin our lovely weekend away. Staff were lovely and friendly when we sat down but rude when things start to go wrong.... an apology and some effort to make things right would have gone a long way

Pretty great food. Amazing revolutionary posters and artwork on the walls. I especially like the poster of comrade Mao Zedong. The atmosphere, decor and artwork is very true to China which is not too common in Chinese restaurants in Newcastle. They also do Chinese beer here which is cool.

Nice enough interior and staff are friendly. Food wise, as a group we ordered the sautéed sliced pork with pepper and chilli, Kung pao chicken, Spicy and hot poached fish, Garlic and Chinese leaf along with a selection of BBQ pork belly, chicken wings and chicken liver. Both pork belly and the slices were exceptionally good, whilst the kung pao chicken and spicy fish were also very good. The prices are very reasonable and I highly recommend this place. Must note, my friends from Hong Kong and Macau said “In England this is 10/10. In China this is 8/10”.

So word of mouth found us stood outside Hong Huo Huo in Newcastle's Chinatown, perusing the menu, and wondering if we should go get a burger instead. As it had been recommended to us by several people, we decided to venture inside. It was fairly empty when we went in, which was good, as it meant that we basically had the pick of tables, so we sat by the window. Menus were dished out, and the waiter later came by with the hot pot check list, which, if I remember correctly, was completely in Chinese, so brush up on your language skills if you're after the old hot pot. However, we wanted items off the À la carte menu, so ordered ourselves a plate of "Da Pan Ji", which translates as "Big Plate of Chicken", and it was essentially that, a plate of chopped chicken, with chunks of peppers, and sauteed, sat on top of bed of what looked like pappardelle pasta. Also, just to go extra ethnic we went for a plate of pig's intestines... The food arrived pretty quickly, and everything looked great, the Da Pan Ji was particularly nice, with plenty of chicken, soft potatoes, with the 'pasta' being cooked al dente. Although tasty, this isn't a dish that you can wolf down, the chicken wasn't de-boned, and there were small bone fragments littered throughout, so it requires additional eating skills to stop from being lacerated. Also, I would have much preferred the dish was served with some sort of soft noodles, but, the place gave off a vibe that I'm pretty sure if I had asked for soft noodles I'd have gotten it. Now, onto the intestines. I'm not a big fan of intestines, I'm not a fan of internal bits and bobs if I'm honest, save for liver, but I figured "why not?", and, to be fair, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The intestines were served sliced, deep fried, and smothered in dry chillies, but it still retained its, how can I say?, it's "earthy" flavour. Overall, the food was quite nice, and the menu has both familiar and non-familiar items, so if you're not feeling adventurous, there's always the old kung po chicken to fall back on. Plus drinks, and a huge bowl of boiled rice to share, this came to a shade over £20. Not too shabby at all. I will likely be back to tackle other items on the menu...

Been waiting to order a Chinese from here for so long and it was definitely worth the wait! I haven’t had crispy chilli beef since becoming coeliac over 13 years ago, and they recommended the crispy beef in GF peking sauce and it was amazing. We also ordered the salt & chilli king prawns (amazing), egg fried rice, chips & curry sauce. Best gluten free Chinese I’ve ever had, you wouldn’t think it was any different to a regular Chinese takeaway order honestly. Thanks so much!!

Ordered subway for pick up througu deliveroo. Went to collect the order only to be told they are closed and subway asked me to cancel the order because they can't do it themselves due to a new system they have. There was no option for me to cancel the order and they then marked the order and completed/collected. (There was also a deliveroo driver next to us who was told the same thing) I contacted deliveroo only to be told they can't get in touch with the restaurant therefor can't process a refund and advised to try and call subway myself. I've spent all morning trying to get in touch with subway and no answer so I'm now out £35 Really disappointed with both deliveroo and subway as wasted money and time
