We did a sponsored walk with 13 children to raise money for autism/mental health. The children had walked 7 miles and was thirsty so we stopped for a drink but the children stayed on the foreshore so I walked . We had 13 bottles of juice to carry I ask for a bag he said no and walked off very rudely the young gent who served us was pleasant but seemed scared of the manager. We went to the lovely lady at the gift shop who gave us a bag for free and he literally saw us struggling. Very rude indeed good job we don’t bring our children up like that

Again some of the other reviews are absurd and entitled. 'I don't like leaving bad reviews'... well don't then! 'This is not how to run a cafe,' sorry, is Gordon Ramsay reviewing? Food great, fabulous choice, desserts amazing.. ALL CREDIT TO THE STAFF WHO MAKE THEM, lovely salads with dishes. Friendly staff. So nice to hear, 'you're welcome' rather than'that's alright. ' The staff are naturals at hard work and service. I'm proud to call this my local cafe.

This is a smallish cafe situated in the modern and large Water's Edge Visitor Centre which is within yards of the River Humber. After a long walk we were looking forward to a nice coffee and cake. We were unlucky to get get behind a punter ponderously ordering 8 drinks and some snacks. 15 minutes later we were still waiting and only half of the drinks had been slowly dispensed. It is not a good look when there are staff nearby who could surely have assisted in some way. The lack of cake and /or biscuits at 2 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon was truly astonishing and appalling - the worst I have ever seen or more accurately not seen. Seriously just four items that all looked the same. We simply gave up and left - needless to say we will not be returning.

My family and I visited the cafe as part of our trip to Water's Edge. The menu looked nice as did the displayed food. Service was very slow, waiting for drinks to be made by the same person taking orders despite two others behind the counter was odd. When it was my turn I ordered a breakfast for my husband and tried to order a vegetarian breakfast. The young lady behind the counter initially told me they didn't do a vegetarian breakfast. I showed her the menu which was met by the three ladies shouting to each other about whether or not they do! The order was eventually taken but a few minutes later a disgruntled appearing cook came out telling me its not cooked separately from the meat. What use is offering a vegetarian option if its not vegetarian? On a positive note my husband enjoyed his breakfast and the kids demolished their food. We likely will go back as the park is lovely but may have to rethink our menu choices.

Wow... I visited this place after a walk with friends. I had read the previous reviews but decided to try it for myself. I am so glad I did! The cheesecake here is THE BEST cheesecake I have ever eaten. Its fresh & homemade. And generously portioned. I am so glad I decided to see for myself what this place is like. If you are in the area, please visit. You won't be disappointed!

I don't like leaving negative reviews but I think this is a typical example of how not to run a cafe! Due to COVID19 regulations, we had to queue taking into consideration social distancing, but despite being only the 3rd person waiting, it took about 30 minutes to get served. We only wanted to buy some drinks and ice creams from the freezer, but we were advised by the person in front to put them back into the freezer as she had been waiting for half an hour. I laughed as I thought she was joking but after 5 minutes of waiting, I followed the advice as they were beginning to melt! There was only one person taking the orders and preparing them, but for the sake of efficiency, when someone orders 3 cakes, get 3 plates and prepare them all together, not get a plate then cut a piece of cake, cover the cake back over, then get another plate, uncover the SAME CAKE and so on the the point where it was frustrating to and infuriating to watch. Eventually, after 25 minutes of watching over methodical wiping of knives and surfaces to the point of OCD in between endless treks to obtain individual plates, I was eventually served, reaching to retrieve our now refrozen ice lollies from the adjacent freezer... We took our seats at the table and was constantly irritated by a member of staff shouting at the top of her voice (over food held before her) which food orders were ready for customers to collect from the serving doorway. Many customers were eating outside and could not hear the repeated bellowing at ever increasing volume levels. The only way I could describe the experience is to compare it to a fishmongers wife at a market stall! For heavens sake, get some exercise and take the food to the table like any other civilised establishment!

Took a group of clients to visit the Honey pot, in the middle of serving our group, one of the staff said “no more, we’re closed, we have to get home sometime” to the rest of the group, in a very brusque tone. No warning etc was given, and it was said in a very rude tone. Such a shame, because it looks like it has great facilities.

Our January visit left us unimpressed with the training and enthusiasm of the staff. It was obvious that these were employees with no suitable training and no interest in the appearance or cleanliness of the place. My first impression was made when the server at the counter reached up to get a mug down from on top of the coffee machine and held it with one finger fully inserted inside the mug. We sat in the window on the soft chairs but were faced with a caddy on the table holding sugar and the like, with old food scraps stuck to it. The standard of cleaning left a lot to be desired, The pillars to the building were in desparate need of a good clean. The partial ceiling in way of the door to the decked area had paper hanging down. We arrived and there was one worker sat at a table, but there were dirty tables with dirty plates and cutlery all around. After being there 20 minutes this rather old employee staggered to his feet and went to clean one table (of 4 that were needing clearing). At no time did he use a sanitiser spray or cloth to wipe the table down.

More than two quid for a cup of tea -dearer even than places like the NEC. And when you do stump up, you get one of those Godawful tiny steel pots that doesn't dispense even a full cup, let alone enough for a refill. Went to the counter and asked them to top up the pot with hot water, and they charged another 50p!

Firstly I have to say that after visiting today and then reading some of the reviews I was surprised by how bad some were. Me and my hubby stopped in for some lunch. The cafe was very clean and the staff polite. We both had some homemade soup and a warm baguette. My hubby had the potato and leek and I had the minestrone soup. The soup was absolutely delicious. I cannot reccomend it highly enough. It's the best homemade minestrone that I've ever had. The tea and decaff latte we had were both totally fine. The teapot is more than adequate to provide a cup of tea, which is what you pay for. As for eating your own food.... there are signs on all the tables stating that this isn't allowed but you'll always get people who think the rules don't apply to them . Don't be put off by the negative reviews. This is a perfectly good cafe that serves some lovely food. I will certainly be back when I'm next in the area.

Awful, nasty, aggressive staff to me and my family after purchasing drinks from the cafe sitting outside we had to come inside after a huge downpour, we were told we couldn't sit at a table and let the children finish their packet of crisps as they weren't bought from the cafe and was actually shouted at by both the man and women infront of my 6 year old and 3 year old. I recently visited Water’s Edge Visitor Centre with my husband and sister. My husband dropped me off right outside as I have rheumatoid arthritis and a bad back and cannot stand or walk for long. We went to the cafe for a drink and were disappointed to find at 3.20pm it was already closed although there were still some people there. We went outside onto the decked area and as soon as we were outside a member of staff went to the door. I thought that she was just checking that I had closed it properly as it is a heavy sliding door. A little later on my sister said that we had better go in as it was now empty inside and they had switched the lights off. My husband tried the door and found that it had been locked. He knocked on the door and got the attention of a member of staff. She raised her hand in acknowledgment and disappeared, we thought for the key. However, despite more knocking no one appeared. We were therefore forced to walk all the way around the building which I found very difficult. Luckily there was a wall so that I could sit down on a few occasions or I don’t know what I would have done. We are furious that the member of staff did not tell us she was locking the door - if she had I would have gone straight back in. We are equally as angry that at least one member of staff knew we were outside knocking to be allowed in but ignored us. This is disgraceful and unacceptable customer service. My sister went in to complain but there was obviously no one left in the cafe. Water’s Edge were very helpful and although they said that the cafe was separate to them they asked her to fill in a complaint form and followed it up with an email. Not surprisingly, she has heard nothing from the cafe.

My wife and I together with her sister and husband decided to call in here for lunch en- route to see another of her sisters who lives nearby. The cafe is part of a visitor centre situated on the banks of the river with fantastic views of the Humber Bridge on one side and a landscaped large duck pond on the other. My wife and I only wanted a light lunch so we decided on a toastie and ham baguette. Her sister noticed a large specials board offering large cod and chips as the special of the day which she and her husband decided on. We ordered the food at the bar together three teas and a coffee. the hot drinks were served to us straight away. The coffee was served in a large mug and was ok but the teas were served in very small teapots which looked as the had been taken from a dolls tea service. We took the drinks back to the table and on pouring the tea out found it to be very strong and hardly filling the cup. On lifting the lids of the teapots we found that two teabags had been mistakenly put in the pots by the young waitress which not only made the tea far too strong but the teabags displaced most of the water. We asked for another pot of hot water to weaken the tea and to our utter amazement and disbelief we were charged another 50 pence. My wife only drinks very weak black tea and in all the cafes we have been in we have never ever been charged for extra hot water. We really thought this was rubbing salt into the wounds. Although the cafe was not very busy we were waiting over 30 minutes for the food to be served by which time we had drank our tea and extra hot water but decided on principle not to order any more. My wife's toastie and my baguette were ok but the cod was a complete let down. It was obvious that the cod had come from Iceland - Iceland Frozen Foods that is and had been frozen many days before after coming off the production line at Birdseye. Although the cod was palatable, the batter was rock hard and the fish inside the batter was very dry. To say this cod was the special of the day is very misleading as it leads you to expect a freshly battered deep fried piece of fish and not a bake in the oven pre-battered piece of fish..My sister-in-law did not want to make a fuss and complain but needless to say both her and husband were very disappointed in the meal. On principle, we shall not be making a return visit to this cafe until the scandalous charge for extra hot water is dropped and also a bit more honest in describing their daily special meals.

Called in for lunch and ordered what we used to make a bee-line for a few years ago - the meat and potato pie. We used to giggle like kids when it came because it was a big, 'proper' pie and a real treat. Not so now tho, what arrived instead of the lovely big plateful of yor, was a plate with overcooked, wrinkled peas, that had obviously been sat for a while, chips, gravy and a small piece of pie that was a shadow of its former self. On sliding away the top layer of pastry I found 4 pieces of swede, a piece of carrot and a single piece of meat. Yes, I should've said something, but it was an impromptu visit to celebrate some good news and I didn't want to spoil my day. Lesson learnt - I'll stick to coffee and cake IF I visit in future.

The sausage was marketed as 'Lincolnshire' and the Cafe suggests all it's food is cooked fresh using local ingredients - no it is not! Wanted a cool drink and ice cream as it was a hot day, nothing special as they were just regular supermarket items and came to about £4 which is ridiculous for something I could buy at the corner shop for half the price. Coffee, tea and cakes were available, although the latter was horrendously expensive at nearly £4 a slice and wrapped up in cling film it didn't seem particularly appealing. The only redeeming factor was the lovely outdoor area which overlooked a pond. However, we were lucky the weather was so nice as the inside cafe was very poorly decorated.

After taking a few photos of the Bridge it wax lunch time and came across the Honey Pot Cafe. We had our Cocker Spaniel with us as always and the weather was very nice for the time of year, there is an outside dining area. Dogs are welcome and there are plenty of water bowls for the dog to drink from along with the other water fowl. There was plenty to choose from on the menu and at a reasonable price. The even do a pensioners special where you get a dinner and pudding fro around £6 very reasonable I thought, but we are not of that age yet so didn't apply to us. We knew we were having a cooked tea so decided to have Baguettes my wife had a Prawn and Mayo and I had Brie and Bacon £5.60, I was told they would bring it out to us when it was ready, so I got a tray and took our drinks which I may add were excellent my wife had a Hot Chocolate and I had a Latte both large and cost £2.50 each well worth the cost. We were sat waiting for our lunch for only a few minutes when we saw 2 huge plates appear out of the sliding doors, I thought it must be for the people sat behind us but no they were ours. I took one look at the amount of food on the plate and said to my wife I don't I will be having a cooked tea. On the plate was a huge Baguette with Bacon, Brie and Mushrooms along with a large side salad. The food is tasty, and the portions large, but the prices keep creeping up. Just a stones throw away is the town of Barton with so many reasonable priced cafes it is hard to justify spending so much. Take a walk into the town, save yourself a fair amount of money.

We had spent a lovely afternoon on Mother's Day doing a 3 mile walk along Humber Estuary & Waters Edge Nature Reserve. We first went to The Ropewalk but it was too busy so we decided try The Honey Pot Cafe & weren't disappointed. The cakes are all homemade, I chose the carrot cake it was delicious with only a little frosting which was just how I like it, they even had peppermint tea!! Will return.

First trip to the honey pot, but a good one! Had a tasty Mother's Day lunch after cycling across the Humber Bridge! Great home cooked food, reasonable price and friendly staff.

Captive audience and all that and it is expensive for what you get although the food is OK albeit a limited menu.

Have been eating at the Honey Pot Cafe regularly over the last month my review is based on that time span. Every meal I have eaten there has been very good quality be it an omelette, a Brie and red grape baguette or just a leek and potato soup. At times they are very busy and service may be on the slow side but I would rather wait and have the food served fresh and hot.

Just been here for a coffee whilst out walking over from hull and must say I shall definitely be back. The cafe looks out to the waterside and seems very clean. I only had a coffee but the food being served looked delicious and heard some very positive remarks. All this with a really pleasant girl serving mean I shall return.

What can I say other than to apologise to the 7 visitors who had a less than perfect experience with us. I cannot comment on the specific occasions as my husband and I had our first holiday in 10 yrs . We had the last 2weeks in October. We strive very hard to offer good quality locally sourced food in a very competitive market. We take great pride in the service we offer and to see these less than ideal reviews is somewhat disheartening . All I can ask is that you do try to eat with us again and please if everything is not as you would expect then please please do come and speak to us where we will do everything to correct any mistakes etc. We are not a greasy spoon cafe but we are a cafe and not a restaurant, we offer hot and Cold meals, sandwiches, braggetts and Paninis. Please accept my humble apology to anyone who has had a less than perfect eating experience with us. To the six cyclists the chef we had on when you visited is new and still gaining experience, this is not an excuse in any sense but is a factor as to why you had a unacceptable wait for your meals. We use a local butcher for all our meat so I am at a loss as to why the quality was as poor as you described, but I will look into this and certify any issues. We are a small family run business working hard to give a warm and friendly eating experience and to have failed for these individuals does not sit well with me and I give my personal assurance that this will not happen again. Please please accept my unreserved apologies

Have eaten here before and the food was fabulous, great value for money and good service however I don't know what has happened as it is now awful, just got seated and saw the state of the food that was being served to the table next to us and we immediately left!! Such a shame as it's a lovely setting for a bite to eat but take your own food and eat in your car not the cafe!!

Terrible service, a group of 6 of us came in (cyclists) and all ordered a full breakfast. It took nearly half an hour between the first one coming out and the last one arriving. When they finally arrived the breakfasts were terrible. Cold sausages, stringy fatty bacon and burnt toast. If I owned this cafe I'd be embarrassed at the quality of food and terrible service they give.My cycling group will be heading to either the ropewalk or the tilery cafes to start our sunday rides from now on.

The food is not a good standard. I've eaten here a couple of times and have been disappointed on each occasion. The salad was not fresh. The food is over priced. It becomes too crowded at times with people squeezing past whilst you are eating. I had a man hold/carry boiling hot tea over my new baby. Try the rope walk museum cafe instead.

After a lovely walk in the nature reserve we hoped to grab some lunch but just ended up having a drink as the menu seemed more greasy spoon than country park cafe, it reminded me of something we would have gone to back in the 1990's.The staff were pleasant and the surrounds fine in the very eco friendly visitors center but maybe the menu could be updated to suit the times and £7.50 for a cooked breakfast that can be had locally for £5 seems a little expensive?

I've been a long-time customer of the Honey Pot, but just lately I've been left wanting. The service is efficient, but not what I would call friendly and the food is OK, but that's it, nothing to write home about. I've kept coming because of the views and at one time there were two friendly ladies running the place, during the week anyway. I've felt the last couple of times as if the staff have inwardly groaned at the appearance of customers.I'm not done with this place, but I'm going in search of pastures new for the time being for my odd cooked breakfast or lunchtime treat.

Stopped off after a walk for lunch. We had soup and a chicken salad with coffee and a cake. The soup and salad were very good. The cake and coffee were poor. A bit pricey for what it is but its in a nice location. The service was fine and the food was delivered quickly.

We were not at all impressed by the service or the food today. Firstly I had to clean the high chair before I could put my grandson into it. Our order eventually arrived - not correct - omelette very greasy- you could taste the oil and the chips were inedible - rock hard - overlooked - greasy! The salad did not look or taste fresh. This happened once before but we were prepared to give a second chance - don't think we will be eating there again.

We came across this cafe unexpectedly when exploring Barton and the Humber. It was really lovely and my wife had a salad she asked for extra salad because she has a potato allergy and chips were included with th meal . The staff could not have been more helpful and the salad was extraordinarily good . I had a jacket potato with curry and it was lovely and properly baked not microwaved. A really great experience that we will repeat.

We went to the honeypot at 3.30 saw it was closed asked what time does it close we were told and then were told why do you have a problem with that, to which we replied we just couldn't believe a coffee shop shut so early only to be told "we have lives too you know" needless to say we will not be going back. We have been before and have not been impressed with the food or prices and this bad visit has confirmed to us we WILL NOT be going back

The Honey Pot Cafe is part of the waters edge visitors centre & Country Park, we visited the Country Park and popped in for a lite bite and were a little disappointed, the service was fine but found both the printed and special wall menu somewhat confusing? lite bites including any prices are nowhere to be seen and were only available on request at the self service counter, in all a little disorganised and not particularly cheap. It was also off putting to see a very small child clearing tables with overload trays a definite health & safety issue. It was also noted that the cafe was closing at 15.00 not sure if this is a regular practice? as the heading suggests a little disappointing!! however the location and scenery are superb so perhaps you can not have it all.

Took the kids to waters edge to feed the ducks on a recent visit to the area and went to the honey pot cafe for lunch it was incredibly busy and had a real family friendly atmosphere. The owner's Mike and Beth couldn't have been nicer and the food was amazing. Totally recommend the brie bacon and mushroom baguette. It was delicious. Kids meals had large portions and was great value money and included a desert and a drink. Will definately return :)

Set in a local authroity visitor centre. Good range in menu and generally well cooked, big portions but all rather cafeteria/IKEA style and service is rather unfriendly and disinterested. Prices raised recently too so not as good value as it was.

A pub can’t that handle being busy and had bad stop the food service, woooow! booked a table for tonight, and we was kindly walked over to the table where we asked where we order food, and was advised that it was at the bar, which is all good. we looked over the menu & went up the bar to be told that they are no longer serving food!! tell me why you told us we can order at the bar and we told the lady that we was ordering food. disappointment is such an understatement.

The shop is nice, usually relatively clean and the coffees are nice. My only issue is the toilets and some of the staff. The toilet door is broken and if someone tries to open it the door opens on you. Some of the staff are nice such as the tall man and the brunette BM lady. They smile and joke with the customers. However, the lady with blonde/dark blonde hair who is usually on till doesn't smile, or show that she cares about her job, 9 times out of 10 she is stood about while the other baristas do the work.

Top marks all round, 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟, 10/10, 👍👍. Usually when I have to work away I end up in a Travelodge or similar hotel chain because it's generally easier for the office to book etc. This time I found myself working at the Port and found this little gem. It must be a reasonable price because there was no grumbling from said office and they even paid for my breakfasts. I received a very pleasant, happy and friendly greeting when I checked in, Stephen (or Steven) is a superb host/landlord. I was shown to my room which was more than adequate, the beds and also the bedding were very comfortable and the bathroom with the great big shower head and hot water was just the ticket after work. True there's not a great deal of local facilities you are basically on a road with a pub and a local corner shop, but the food in the pub is very good, (I can definitely recommend the fish and chips) there's dartboards and a pool table. Breakfasts are spot on very tasty, Bacon, Sausages, scrambled eggs, beans, hash browns, tomato, mushrooms and toast, washed down with a glass of orange juice and a good size pot of tea or coffee. I've stayed on 2 separate occasions and it will be my first choice in the future if I'm working that way again.
